SUDBURY WOLVES MEDIA / SCOUTING NOTES
Sunday, December 14th, 2025 | Sudbury Wolves vs. Brampton Steelheads
Today, the Wolves and Steelheads face off in their third matchup of the season, and the first at the Sudbury Community Arena. The season series is currently tied at one a piece with Brampton taking the first game in a decisive 8-1 victory, while the Wolves bested Brampton in a 2-1 overtime thriller in the second meeting. The Wolves enter tonight's matchup sitting 5th in the Central Division with a record of 10-19-1-0, including an 8-7-1-0 record at home, and a 2-12-0-0 record on the road. The Steelheads are currently positioned 4th in the Central Division with a 12-15-3-1 record. At home, the Steelheads have an 8-7-1-1 record with a road record of 4-8-2-0.
Acquired from Brantford just two weeks into the season, Joshua Avery has fit seamlessly into the Steelheads lineup. Through 30 games, the centre has produced nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, while emerging as one of Brampton’s most productive players in the past week. Avery has recorded three goals and two assists over his last three games, highlighted by a three-point performance in a decisive 4-1 win over Saginaw on December 6th. Beyond his offensive contributions, Avery has brought a dependable two-way presence to the team, providing responsible play down the middle and consistent defensive coverage, making him a true asset to the Brampton lineup.
A free agent invite at this summer’s Orientation Camp, Daniel Berehowsky has now broken into the OHL as a 19-year-old, taking on a full-time role with the Wolves. The forward has shown consistent development throughout the season and is currently enjoying his strongest stretch, riding a four-game point streak that includes two goals and two assists. In 28 games, Berehowsky has recorded five goals and six assists for 11 points, with six of those points coming on the power play. He has become an integral part of Sudbury’s man-advantage unit, using his strength and finishing ability to make an impact. Moving forward this season, Berehowsky will look to continue building his game and expand his role within the Wolves lineup.

DECEMBER DATES WITH THE STEELHEADS by Randy Pascal
After splitting a pair of games on the road with the Brampton Steelheads last month – the Wolves lost 82 on Nov 23rd but bounced back to record a 2-1 overtime win on Nov 29th – the series shifts to Sudbury for the divisional combattants who have met six times a season in 26 of the past 27 years.
In 2021-2022, the Wolves and Mississauga Steelheads would meet eight times as the OHL adjusted with a travel-reducted schedule given the global pandemic. In 1997-1998, the first year back in the league for the Toronto St Michael’s Majors, the teams met only twice as the Majors were slotted in the East Division and Sudbury was in the Central, with some of their normal counterparts (North Bay, Barrie) as well as both Kitchener and Guelph (the OHL ran with three six-team divisions, moving to the now standard two conference / four division format a year later with the addition of the Brampton Battalion and Mississauga Ice Dogs)
Interestingly enough, the Steelheads and Wolves have faced each other at least once every December for the past eight years – though the teams did not meet at all in December for every year between 1997-1998 and 2002-2003.
