CA clears Bren Sports owner of drug charges By Chris Panganiban

HE COURT OF APPEALS dismisses the c ase against businessman and Esports Founder Bernard Lu Chong and recalls the warrant of arrest in a 27-page decision last April 13, 2023, CA-GR SP No. 174135 from the Special Seventh Division. The decision granted the petitioner Bernard Lu Chong, the annulment of the said charges against him of alleged illegal shipment originating from Vietnam which had undeclared goods and dangerous drugs through the company Fortuneyield. Anti-Cyber Crime Unit Keeps Governor’s FB Page Under Close Watch Amidst Hacking Attempt Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal and the Police Provincial Office (PPO) cautioned the public against suspicious activities on the former’s official Facebook page, after unauthorized access was detected on Monday night. “As soon as we learned about the Facebook page hacking incident, we reported it to

Facebook,” Gov. Oaminal shared in a statement. The Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit 10 was immediately tapped as well, according to the Governor, and is “closely monitoring and investigating the incident, to ensure that our services are not hampered in any way and to regain access to and control over our page.” The PPO, in

a separate statement, said they “will be vigilant on the posts and other activities” by the Facebook page. Gov. Oaminal assured Misamisnons that the incident will not hinder the provincial government from “providing good services to our people in the province, because this won’t stop us from achieving the Provincial thrust, which is the 5Ms.” The ‘5Ms’ or ‘Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon’ (Misamisnon Live Peaceful, Prosperous and Happy) is one of Gov. Oaminal’s flagship initiatives for the province. Agusan Sur festival seeks to inspire awareness on watershed preservation By CHRIS V. PANGANIBAN

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur (MindaNews / 11 May) — Instilling environmental awareness among the townsfolk will be the focus of four-day Magdiwata Festival to protect and preserve the 1,658-hectare watershed from which the event’s name was taken.

The local government has scheduled the festival on June 1-4 based on Executive Order N0. 48 Series of 2023 issued by Mayor Grace Carmel Paredes-Bravo on May 2. The day-long Magdiwata Environmental Summit will take place on June 3 at the municipal grounds where experts, environmental-

ists, and stakeholders will exchange views on the state of the watershed. The Magdiwata watershed is the main source of potable water of the San Francisco Water District, which services at least 9,400 commercial and residential water concessionaires in this booming town. See FESTIVAL, page 11
