regional official of the Bureau of Customs in the Northern Mindanao revenue district assured executives of tobacco giant Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corporation (PMFTC) of its continuing campaign against agricultural smuggling.

Speaking during the Cagayan de Oro launch of the 2023 Bright Leaf Agricultural Journalism Awards, Customs deputy district collector for assessment Jesus Llorando acknowledged the numerous challenges that the agency is meeting against the entry of smuggled goods. “At the Port of CDO alone, we have apprehended

several millions worth of smuggled onions which if these have successfully been released would have hurt our CDO-based farmers,” Llorando said. sions, Rep. Paolo Duterte has filed a bill seeking the establishment of another division in Mindanao, to be stationed in the City of Davao.

House Bill No. 7895 is seeking the establishment of a division of the Court of Appeals in the City of Davao, to be known as the Court of Appeals in Davao City, with jurisdiction over cases originating from the 11th and 12th Judicial Regions.
