Briefly Swine industry DAVAO City – The swine industry in Davao Oriental is seen to improve after the Department of Agriculture (DA) 11 (Davao Region) turned over P5.5 million worth of brand-new bio-secure and climate-controlled finisher operation facility over the weekend.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, Vice Governor Niño Sotero Uy said the aid was handed over to the Davao Oriental Market Multi-Purpose Cooperative (DOMMUPCO) to boost swine production, ensuring that pork products are readily available and affordable in the province.

The facility, turned over on Saturday, forms part of the implementation of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) to assist in the repopulation and restocking of swine.

Rice production boost THE national government has committed P62.55 million worth of rice production and postharvest equipment to the provincial government of South Cotabato. In a statement, the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) said the equipment was presented during the launch of its multi-million program on the consolidation of rice production and mechanization in Baranggay Liwanay, Banga, South Cotabato on Wednesday. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. graced the turnover ceremony of the consolidated government assistance from various agencies, including PHilMech, worth P115.3 million.

ORONADAL City – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led Wednesday the launching of South Cotabato’s rice production and modernization program, but kept silent on his campaign promise to bring down the price of the nation’s staple food to P20 per kilogram. Spending less than an hour in nearby Banga town with farmers and other stakeholders, Marcos, who is also the Agriculture Secretary, pushed the mechanization of rice farming in line with the administration’s efforts to achieve food security in

the country. He said the administration has been working to lower the price of rice and increase the volume of production, and mechanization is the key to achieving these goals. “Ginawa nating prayoridad PBBM/PAGE 7
