JASAAN, Misamis Oriental – The local government of Jasaan under Mayor Gregorio Jonathan Po has conceptualized a tour package, covering all non-private tourist spots in his town – Agutayan White Island, the Philippine Sailfin Lizard Park and Sagpulon Falls – all these are either owned and operated by the LGU or by the provincial government of Misamis Oriental. a cultural, historical and pilgrimage site of Misamis Occidental province. Looking back, Ozamiz City’s rich history will tell people that the name Ozamiz is, actually, in honor of the late Senator Jose Ozamiz, the first senator during the
tenure of late President Manuel A. Roxas before the Japanese regime. Senator Ozamiz was known as the “late and forgotten hero form Misamis Occidental.” A man of integrity, loyalty and courage, on July 16, 1948, the principal port and trading center of Misamis municipality was renamed after him through Republic Act No. 321. OZAMIZ CITY -- The City Government of Ozamiz, through its City Tourism Office, has recently launched “Visit Ozamiz,” kicking off with a two-day familiarization tour to its historial and cultural sites.
10 Regional Director Catalino “Buth” Chan idnetified some of Ozamiz’s historical sites that have religious values as the pipe organ that is currently housed at the Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral; the Cotta Shrine located besides the historical fort and said to have been recognized by Pope Francis as a miraculous site during his Philippine visit; The El Fuerte de Cotta or Cotta Fort that is also with miraculous background; the bells at Mt.Bucayan and
