And with no foreseeable opposition from the Senate, House Bill No. 8140, or the Media Workers’ Welfare Benefit Act, is expected to see immediate passing in Congress. Principal author of the bill at the Lower, House ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Rowena Niña Taduran, shares her main intent in crafting the bill of putting an end to abuses and neglect of media workers and their employment condition.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The incumbent leaders of the family-owned Yanson Group of Bus Companies’ (YGBC) subsidiaries have asserted their grip on the conglomerate’s affiliate firms while their scheduled series of annual stockholders’ meetings is ongoing in Mindanao. Following the holding of the Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc.‘s (MSBTI) yearly meeting on Saturday, another YGBC subsidiary, Bachelor Express Inc. (BEI), has conducted its own annual gathering of its top officials Sunday (Jan. 17). CDO seniors urged to register for vaccine rollout CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The city’s senior citizens were asked to register for their senior citizens identification (ID) card before or on January 27 so they can be included in the city’s vaccine rollout program, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) said, January 19.

Dissemination of false information punishable by law – Nacaya COUNCILOR Ian Mark Nacaya is reminding the public that disseminating false information is punishable by law. This is pursuant to Article XII of Ordinance No. 13855-2020, providing for the General Guidelines, Rules and Regulations during the period of community quarantine in Cagayan de Oro as declared by the city mayor or the national government in relation to a proclamation of state of public health emergency, epidemic or pandemic. The ordinance deems it unlawful for any person

to create, perpetrate, and spread fake news either through social media, mass media, and other forms of communication, which have no valid or beneficial effect on the population, and are clearly meant to promote or cause undue alarm, panic, fear, confusion or hysteria among Cagayan de Oro City. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Bureau of Customs-10 Collector John Simon became a recipient of several awards given to him by local and international organizations for pushing for the trash from South Korea to be reshipped to its country of origin. The latest group to confer him the recognition is the EcoWaste Coalition, which confer him with the Environment Justice Award, given at a time that the country is observing the Zero Waste Month. NGCP Tower sabotaged in Lanao Norte TOWER #60 of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Balo-i-Aurora 138kV line in Poona, Tangcal, Lanao del Norte has been toppled due to the pilferage of transmission line parts, causing a power interruption at 10:13AM on Monday, January 18, 2021. This was followed by manual load dropping affecting customers of ZAMSURECO I, ZAMSURECO II, ZANECO, MOELCI I, MOELCI II, and LANECO in parts of the Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, and parts of Lanao del Norte starting at 10:17AM of the same day. NGCP is working with authorities to secure the area and to identify the perpetrators. Restoration of tower 60 will commence as soon as the area is secured. The company stresses that pilferage and bombings of transmission lines and structures increase the burden to power consumers, which must suffer through service interruptions when towers are sabotaged. NGCP continues its appeal to the public, local and national government, and local community leaders to help identify the perpetrators of sabotage and prevent power interruptions.

A stub angle, which forms part of Tower 60’s foundation was pilfered with bolts and other tower parts dismantled. With the weakened foundation, perpetrators used ropes to topple the said tower.

The toppled tower 60 of NGCP’s Baloi-Aurora 138kV line is located in Poona, Tangcal, Lanao del Norte. Restoration of the said tower will commence as soon as the area is secured.

WE have to learn how to see God everywhere. This, of course, will require some assiduous training and discipline, but we have our whole life to achieve it, and to be sure, whatever effort and sacrifice would be involved would be all worthwhile. We need to see God everywhere because that is the ideal condition for us to be in. We are all creatures of God. God as our creator will always be in his creatures because not only is he the giver of our existence but also the maintainer of it. He can never be absent from his creatures, otherwise the latter would simply disappear to nothing. Thus, we can say that God is actually everywhere. He is around us and also inside us, at our very core. Remember what Psalm 138 says: “Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there, if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there…” (7-8) And St. Augustine: “You were within me and I was in the external world and sought you there. And in my unlovely state I plunged into those lovely created things which you made. You were with me, and I was not with

you. The lovely things kept me far from you…” In our case, since as creatures we have been endowed with the capacity to know and to love due to our God-given gifts of intelligence and will, we, unlike the other creatures that are not so gifted, are meant to see, know and love him. For this, he also gives us his grace through the gifts of faith, hope and charity and many other gifts that would help us penetrate and enter into the supernatural reality of God. We need to see God in everything because otherwise, the only possible thing to happen is to sin, to go against him, against even our own nature, against others. Remember the first sin and the temptation that led to it. The devil suggested to Eve to look at the forbidden fruit which, as a creation of God, was also good in itself. When she looked at it, she “saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom,” (Gen 3,6) but failed to relate it to God. And so, the fall took place. We have to find ways to be able to see God in every-

thing—from the usual little and ordinary things that we see and handle everyday to the big things that we get involved in. We have to see to it that we are not just swallowed up by the sensible and intelligible qualities of these items that can give us all sorts of worldly and temporal benefits. We need to relate them to God in such a way that ideally, the first thing that we should perceive while seeing and handling them is God himself. As said earlier, this will require tremendous training and discipline, since by our nature that, sad to say, is already affected by the consequences of sin, we tend to perceive only the sensible and intelligible qualities of these things without going any further, without referring them to God. What’s the plan? IT’S planning season again! As we kick off a new year, different organizations, big or small, private or government, local or multinational are all into planning sessions these days. However, unlike in the previous years when these planning sessions are done either offsite or inside conference rooms, most planning sessions nowadays are done virtually. Planning involves setting objectives and determining the action or actions for achieving those objectives. It is a fundamental exercise of deciding early on what needs to be done when it should be done, how it should be done, and who is going to do it. And since we are on a clean slate at the start of a new year, January is usually considered the best time to set new targets and goals and draw up the required action plans. Although, personally, I believe planning should happen at least weeks prior so that implementation happens on Day 1 of the new year. But do we really need to plan? Isn’t it more exciting to do things spontaneously and at the spur of the moment? I once read a quote, “ By failing to plan, you are planning to fail”. With everything that’s happening around us...new challenges, uncertainties, risks, as well

as, new opportunities, now more than ever we need to be prepared. By looking ahead into the future, we are able to minimize risks and uncertainties, we are able to prioritize and maximize our resources and eliminate wastage and we are able to uncover and tap new opportunities. We plan to ensure success. But is it always the case? Can all those wellwritten plans guarantee our success? In my more than 30 years in the academe and corporate, I must have attended, participated in, and facilitated all kinds of planning sessions. Even in our own home, planning takes place. Allow me to share my personal observations on why despite the efforts, resources, and time put into it, even the best thought of a plan, still fails. We set too many goals and action plans. While we want and need to accomplish more, there is wisdom in focusing on a few. Nothing more than 3 goals and 3 action steps for each goal. Anything more will most likely not be sustained or will just remain as a plan, never executed. We fail to translate our strategic plans to tactical plans. As most plans are done by management teams, they are usually high level and broader in scope. But as

they say, the devil is in the details. We need to specify the details of how the overall goals are to be achieved. This includes timelines and schedules (when are the targets and activities expected to be delivered) resource requirements (what do we need to be able to do the activities ) and the person in charge (who is to ensure that targets and activities are being done and delivered). That is why we need to work on just 3 goals at a time given these details. We fail to properly communicate and get the buy-in of those who will implement the plan. A common mistake of a manager is crafting the action plans by himself and passing them to his members for mere implementation. People are motivated to do and achieve more when they know and understand what they need to do, why they need to do it, and how doing it will affect them. We do not regularly monitor the plan. Naguib Sinarimbo and Mohagher Iqbal faced the press on Monday, Jan. 18, to answer their inquiries including on the proposed extension of the Bangsamoro transition period. Iqbal told the press , strongly expressed that the bid to ask higher authorities like the Congress and Senate extend the period of transition is to ensure that “the foundation of peace shall be well-established

established on the ground”. Adding, “the extension is not about power”. It is also not about trying to extend our presence in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Iqbal emphasize that one of the legal bases for the extension is for the interim government of the day, headed by chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim ,to fully accomplish its functions and duties during the transition period. DAVAO CITY--The municipality of Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte has acquired PHP78 million worth of heavy equipment to support its infrastructure projects. In a statement Tuesday, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said the heavy equipment would be used in the local government’s construction, operations, and maintenance activities. “We acquired this because we need to maximize our available resources to fast track all our infrastructurerelated projects. This is the people’s money, and we want to assure that all Tomasinos will benefit from this equipment by giving improved services to all operations and maintenance in various barangays,” Evangelista said. The heavy equipment in-

cludes two garbage compactors, two 10-wheeler dump trucks, four 6-wheeler dump trucks, and an 18 wheelerlow bed prime mover. “All our 19 barangays can benefit from these. This short guide, which draws on findings from our interim visits, research and literature review, aims to provide some useful tips. Remote education is a broad term encompassing any learning that happens outside of the classroom, with the teacher not present in the same location as the pupils. Digital remote education is often known as online

learning, this is remote learning delivered through digital technologies. Blended learning is a mix of face-to-face and remote methods. corrections or interventions. Delays, poor execution, and unnecessary wastage can be avoided if only more regular monitoring and tracking system is in place. Remember, what gets monitored, gets done. If we do not inspect it, people assume that we don’t expect it done and delivered. We plan to expect that everything will happen exactly how we planned it. But things beyond our control happen and can ruin even our most beautiful plans. That’s when we need to activate our Plan B, our “what if ” button. Unfortunately, most plans don’t have Plan B. We need to have our backup or contingency plans for those unforeseen and uncontrollable events. What if the support or resource you need is not available? What if there’s a systems glitch? What if the person who’s tasked to do the job leaves the team? So many what if ’s to consider. But we should be prepared in case they become realities. The pandemic taught us the importance of having Plan B. Those who survived and thrived during this challenging time are those who have their Plan Bs in place. Planning is crucial.
