Hiscom to break ground for new museum building T
he Cagayan de Oro Historical and Cultural Commission will be holding a two-day event this week to mark the formal launching of a decadelong celebration for the 4th Centennial of the city’s founding as a settlement. “Forum Kagay-anon 390 is a 10-year program that will usher in the fourth centennial of the founding of the city’s original settlement in the Barangay 1 area,” said Dr. Erlinda M. Burton, Hiscom chair. “We are inviting our stakeholdervolunteers to actively participate in these events, as well as our residents.” Forum Kagayanon 390 kicks off on Thursday, 27 October 2016 with a one-day Tabo sa Kabilin at Gaston Park. “This will be a market place for our cultural heritage and for sale will be pictures, handicrafts,
heritage foods and snacks for the enjoyment of our people,” said Dr. Burton. Among those invited to join the Tabo are the Higaonon Tribe Dancers & Craftsmen from Malasag Eco-Village led by Datu Masikal, Higaonon Basket ware & Beadwork Livelihood Project led by City Tourism Chair Dorothy Jean B. Pabayo and Bae Rose Undag, Arts & Crafts by local artists/ artisans coordinated by Nonoy Estarte and Nic Aca, the stylized Street Food of VIP Hotel’s Calle Café, and postcards/photos, books of Old Cagayan de museum/PAGE 2 Cagayan de Oro City Museum (Old Water Tower)

Monster Kitchen Academy wins bronze for Mindanao at 10th National Food Showdown Cagayan de Oro’s winningest culinary school has done it again!
Monster Kitchen Academy (representing Mindanao) won a bronze medal as 2nd runner up in the Chef Wars, the Main Event of the 10th National Food Showdown held 19-21 October 2016 at CAP John Hay Trade & Cultural Center in Baguio City.
MIHCA (representing Luzon) was the overall champion while ShangriLa Cebu (representing Visayas) finished 1st Runner Up. Despite competing with only two team members (one of the team members was indisposed), the duo full story/PAGE 2 Certificates and Medals for the MKA-Mindanao Team
