They are also known as the Tour Escort, whose job is to primarily coordinate guests’ transfer from airport or seaport to their hotel. He/she may say something about passing surroundings (sight guiding), answer questions and basically, keep a conversation going.
They are also guiding educational tourism group tours which are being managed by known Travel and Tours Operators of the Region. T
h i n k a m i nut e … A husband and wife had not spoken to each other for days. They were still angry at one another since their last fight. By the 5th day, the husband realized he had a problem. He needed his wife to wake him up early the next day to catch a plane for an important business trip. But not wanting to talk to her and lose the fight, he put a note on the kitchen table. It read: “Please wake me up at 5AM tomorrow morning.” The next morning when the husband woke up, it was 7 o’clock! He was so angry that he had missed his plane, he was just about to yell at his wife for not waking him when he found a note next to his bed. It read: “Wake up! It’s 5 o’clock!” Why do we find it so hard to say those 2 little words, “I’m sorr y”? If we’re honest, most of us are better at remembering the people who should tell us they’re sorry than we are
at paying our own “sorry” debt. Yet if we would just apologize sooner we could save our friendships, family relationships, as well as a lot of time, energy, even money. A British study showed that 37% of people who had sued doctors or hospitals in court would not have done it if their doctor had simply apologized to them. You know, when it comes to taking the blame for something, most people fall into 1 of these 2 groups. The first group almost never thinks that they caused any of the problem. It’s always someone else’s fault and they should apologize to you. The second group often blame themselves for causing the problem and they apologize quickly. But both extremes of always being a blame taker or a blame shifter are not healthy. The key in each situation is to be honest. Then admit that since it hurst/PAGE 6

Hindi dahil okay ka at yung isa hindi, may karapatan ng tapakan ang ibang tao. Tandaan natin, na ayaw mo rin sa mga taong minamata ka noong wala ka. So kung ginagawa mo iyan sa iba, wala kang pinagkaiba sa mga taong mayayabang at mata pobre. BE A GOOD STEWARD Learn how to take good care of what you have. Pinagpala ka at pinili ka ni Lord para ikaw ay mabiyayan, kung hindi tayo marunong hawakan at ayusin kung ano man ang pinagkatiwala, maniwala ka! Babawiin din yan! THINK. REFLECT. APPLY. nowadays, I wouldn’t only mention “men” alone when it comes to leadership. There are innumerable women holding their own. Remember and look around: in the past and at present one can observe someone at any corner offering us to lead our way. Politicians compete for our vote of confidence. Athletes and entertainers show us their pictures of success. A lot of d i f fe re nt re l i g i ou s leaders pledge, promise and bind in flock gathering. Well, what are some of the traits that a great leader must have or develop character? Is ch ar a c te r re a l ly enough? How about integrity? Are you,
my d e a r r e a d e r, a leader? Is what you are saying AND D OING, the same? Are your followers wholeheartedly c onv i n c e d of you r integrity? Albert Einstein, one of my favourite idols had said, “Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with the important matters!” Leaders in politics, l e a d e r s i n c l e r g y, leaders in business many are lacking this specific trait, because, after all, what they say is not what they do. We need leaders with character, integrity, d i s cl ipi n e an d t h e ability to influence others in a positive way. A leader must
be able to motivate his or her people around, rather than manipulate them or run away in times of difficult decisions... ! Albert Einstein claimed that he had no special abilities, only persistence. Food chain to employ 50 students under SPES Program January 26-February 1, 2015
T
he food giant company in the world famous for its all-beef patties and the iconic golden arch logo partners again with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES). Fifty (50) students will be given employment to five McDonald stores in the city located at LimKetKai Center, Puregold, McDonald Divisoria, and Centrio Mall. First batch of students will commence work on March 1 to June 30, 2015 and second batch will be deployed on July 1 to October 31, 2015. For 52 days, P15,912 will be disbursed to each beneficiaries at 40% and 60% sharing between DOLE and McDonalds. McDonalds will pay the amount in cash at P9,547.20. The remaining amount of P6,364.80 will be shouldered by DOLE through educational voucher for the tuition and book fees.
Along with the minimum pay of P306, free meals d u r in g w o r k in g h o u r s , uniform, and paid 20 minute break, and GSIS coverage will be provided by McDonalds, according to Britto Luis C. Alforque, operations consultant of McDonalds. Applicants will be sourced by Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Cagayan de Oro, starting January 12 to 30, 2015. Examination and interview will follow on February 7, 2015 by McDonalds managers. The launching of SPES will be formalized on February 22, 2015 with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the local government unit (LGU)-Cagayan de Oro. The signing will be joined by mayor Oscar S. Moreno, DOLE Region 10 director Raymundo G. Agravante, and McDonalds representatives. The SPES program aims to help poor and
deserving students pursue and ultimately finish school by encouraging employment to cover the school fees. In 2012, DOLE and Golden Arches Development Corporation, McDonald’s franchise holder inked a memorandum to partner in the implementation of SPES. This later rolled out to all branches nationwide including Cagayan de Oro with 80 beneficiaries. Now on its 75th years, McDonalds food chain will not only see smiles in every Filipino faces as its slogan goes “We love to see you smile”. Also as well, being loved by Filipino students not only for its good food but also for venturing SPES Program as a corporate responsibility.
