Briefly No petition to increase fares DAVAO City – Not a single transpor t group in Davao Region has filed a petition for a fare increase compared to other areas in the country, an official of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in the region (LTFRB-11) said Monday. "The LTFRB-11 did not receive any petition for a fare increase from transport groups in the region. But I have to know yet if there were transport groups who directed their petition to the central office," said LTFRB-11 Director Nonito Llanos III. Llanos noted that transport groups from the National Capital Region and Regions 4 and 5, have submitted their respective petitions, which were subsequently approved by the LTFRB on Sept. 16.
‘Ayuda’ funds depleted
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) region 10 has only one remaining Saturday for the distribution, but still thousands of students in Nor thern Mindanao have yet to receive the educational aid. Many parents and students in this city expressed their disappointment after the agency posted an advisory on Friday, Sept. 16, to inform the public that they would start accommodating a limited number of beneficiaries due to the limited funds left. Jomar Caparoso, one of the college students here who commented on the advisory posted on Facebook, felt hopeless as he has yet to receive the confirmation text from DSWD.

AVAO City – Former Department of Agriculture (DA) secretar y Emmanuel Piñol on Monday said a modified barter system on “excess agricultural products” is an effective way to deviate depending on importation. In an interview, Piñol said the system involves the conveying of excess agricultural production of one area to places where these are in short supply, stabilizing prices for consumers while farmerproducers profit from their labor. “It's not the traditional barter system where people exchange commodities. This is more 'I buy your product, you buy mine.' What makes this different is that they have agreed on what to sell and what to buy back,’ he said.
