PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is targeting to increase the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in Caraga Region in the next five years. Brielgo Pagaran, DTI Caraga regional director, said the economic development goal is part of the department’s major thrust dubbed as “DTICaraga 2021.” Pagaran said much effort has to be done considering that Caraga Region is not even half-way as of the present in the GRDP with only 91 percent gain against the supposed to be 200 percent target.

New labor policy LABOR and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III has said that the Department will formulate a policy on employment contractualization based on the proposals of the employers and labor groups before the end of 2016. “We will come up with a policy or guideline that will be enforced by the Department b e fore the ye a r e n d s . W e will decide whether we will end contractualization, allow contractualization, or come up with a balance of the two positions,” Bello said after the High Level Dialogue between representatives from employers and labor groups held at the OSEC Conference Room, DOLE Building in Intramuros, Manila. Bello added that the Department is also studying the proposed “Win-Win Structure” which was submitted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and supported by various employers’ groups.
