Briefly Consumer rights MALAYBALAY City — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urged the buying public to be more assertive of their rights against unfair sellers and traders who want to take advantage especially that the yuletide season has started. DTI Bukidnon Provincial Director Ermedio J. Abang said the data monitored from business establishments’ log showed common complaints such as shoddy goods and defective products. He encouraged buyers to ask official receipts or any proof of payment to help both buyers and sellers to speed up grievance redress process in case disagreement crops up. “When buying, even from the sidewalks, always demand a receipt to protect you in case you bought defective or substandard goods and products,” Abang said.
