Briefly Catanico Spring SUPPORTING ways to boost the tourism industry in Cagayan de Oro, the 18th City Council during its regular session on Monday is slated to act on the proposed ordinance authorizing the city mayor to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) for the development of the F.S. Catanico Spring Resort Project located in Barangay F.S. Catanico. TIEZA is an agency attached to the Department of Tourism (DOT), which is tasked to designate, regulate and supervise the Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) as provided for by Republic Act 9593 or the Tourism Act of 2009. Under the proposed MOA, TIEZA shall conduct a public bidding for the implementation of the project and supervise its development.

Peace and dev’t DAVAO City -- Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez confirmed the P6.4Billion-soft loan granted by the Japanese government to the Philippines. He told reporters that the Philippines will also acquire in form of loans boats for the Philippine Coast to be used in running after illegal fishing and to ensure the safety of the country’s borders. “We signed P6.4-Billion-soft loan, where the interest is very low that is forty years to pay,” Dominguez said. He said there are 12 coast guard vessels all in all, with measurements ranging from 45 meters to 90 meters.
