CAMP S.K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Police seized Monday evening some PHP500,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes on the coastline of Malabang town, Lanao del Sur. Col. Jibin Bongcayao, L an a o d el Su r p ol i c e provincial director, said Tuesday several residents tipped off the Malabang
municipal police about a motorized pump boat with suspicious contraband in it. B ongcayao said the smugglers had fled when police officers arrived at the coast of Barangay Boniga at 9:30 pm. “The smugglers who were unloading the contraband quickly fled to differ-
ent directions,” Boncayao said, quoting a report from the Malabang police. Police recovered 29 boxes of smuggled cigarettes believed to be from Jolo, Sulu, or Zamboanga City. The Malabang police est imate d t he cost of contraband to be over PHP500,000. (PNA)
