Living for Community
Atending a large car culture event that is dedicated to this brand, a spirit of camaraderie, an overwhelming feeling of kinship, and a motivation to remain uniquely creative, are just a few of the elements that glue this structure together and keep it inspirational and empowering for people from all walks of life.
The enthusiast driven car club has always been an important and crucial arm of the larger community aesthetic no matter what brand you support or what model and year is your coveted choice. Since the earliest forms of the automotive enthusiast movement began to evolve during the 1950's and 1960's, an entire world within a world has been growing but has been misunderstood, miscategorized, and, sometimes, heavily underrated by the average public at different levels. Those of us who are seriously embedded in this culture either through profession or obsession realize that everyone involved has a clear and visible passion for something that is more than a method of transportation, but a symbol of personal expression, creativity, and, in some cases rebellion and freedom. Being an enthusiast means that you have a core belief system which has been customized through a deep appreciation and admiration for the specific design and engineering innovation behind the paint color and appeal.
Inside the Subaru community, we have seen the birth of a multi-genre movement which includes followers with a wide range of interests solidified by an array of profiles including textbook motorsports to overland adventures. The Subaru culture has become one of the most genre diverse environments representing enthusiasts who have lifestyles which have a firm foundation either built on the track, the trail, or a little of both. Most importantly, Subaru's car culture has launched many important factions that have been instrumental in changing lives. Beyond the events, the community has prompted the creation of exclusive groups and sub organizations that can prove to be extremely powerful, encouraging, and helpful to those who are looking to make an impact throughout their smaller, local community and share the rewards their personal journeys have delivered to their lives. The importance of the auto enthusiast movement could simply be measured by the numbers created from the overall impact it has on the economy at large through the sale of aftermarket parts, performance components, and merchandise. The strongest root which keeps this entity living and breathing is the intimately communal social channel perpetuated by these groups which help all enthusiasts connect with those who share the passion for Subarus and fellowship.
Much More Than Hanging Out
Obviously a car club shares a spectrum of common interests, but also helps others learn and appreciate their favorite brand through a wide range of activities and shared experiences. Since this is primarily a DIY-driven community, the group dynamic can be very valuable to all enthusiasts, whether you are a novice willing to learn more about your car, or a veteran who has the passion to educate. Groups will promote smaller, more engaging social gatherings where enthusiasts can meet, chat, and show mutual admiration for each other's vehicles, while learning some valuable tips and tricks in the process. Since some car clubs have more detailed memberships based on a specific platform, model, or genre of interest, gathering for events that may help test performance, like a day at the track or a weekend in the wild may assist a more inexperienced driver while surrounded by their peers rather than going at it alone. Also, car clubs may be a great way to watch motorsports events that friends or family can't appreciate. It is clear that car clubs within the Subaru community have both a strong presence and a willingness to get involved to make change and spread their spirit throughout the local communities that are outside the proper car culture.
Growing Friendship and Spirit
based in the Hudson Valley of New York State, the 845Subie Car Club is one of those impactful groups who arrive, engage, and get involved.
845Subie began their journey back in 2017, but as they approach their 10th anniversary in less than two years, they have gained a momentum of spirit and dedication that rivals groups that are twice their age and size. In 2024, we released a feature article about Joseph DeGiacomo and his 2004 Subaru STi, a driver and vehicle within their membership who has a story built on dedication that has only been upgraded by his activity and efforts through the group. As quoted in the article, DeGiacomo said of his membership and position with 845Subie, "The desire to give back to the auto world after it helped me with my car and in life was the driving force behind my involvement with 845 Subie...Once I met the President...and he introduced me to the club, it was an instant relief to know they are regular people with families and respectful careers." Jason Martins, President of the 845Subie Car Club is not much different from others in the vast Subaru community. His love for cars and performance sparked an energy early. One that would change his life forever.
"I’ve always had a passion for cars," Martin confirmed. "Cars are more than just a way to get around, they are a form of art and expression of you to the car community," he said. "Being a part of the car enthusiast community allows me to share my passion with others who understand the excitement for cars" Jason, a late blooming fan of the Subaru WRX STi, had an early start on this road, but got the fever for the specific platform back when the group's first seeds were planted. "It was my friend and 845Subie partner Kevin's 2017 Subaru WRX which first got me interested in the WRX/STi platform," he remembers. Through years of inspiration and willingness to think uniquely within the larger community box, Martin decided to push his passion harder by helping motivate and empower people just like him to feel proud of the things they have accomplished through their vehicles. The value of unity and relationships is a concept and mission not lost in Martin's mind. "We’re not just a group of car enthusiasts.", Martin exclaimed. "We’re a family. The essence of our club is about building lasting friendships, sharing our love for Subaru, and creating a space for enthusiasts to grow their knowledge and passion for these iconic cars.", he confirmed.
There are several aspects of this NY club that stand out from the crowd. He and its members function as both influencers and examples to lovers of Subarus and other brands who may need a good place to land and feel wanted. "Anyone is welcome.", Martin solidly proclaimed. "Although 'Subie' is in our name, we support all car enthusiasts and their passion for their brands," he said. "845Subie is a way for all of us to stay connected and share the passion for cars. Our club gives people the chance to socialize with new people and grow our brand as a car family." Martin does not want any portion of spirit to be lost through bad examples or lack of passion for giving back to causes much larger than the group as a whole. Positivity and a healthy view on what it means to run both a meaningful and impactful group that leads by example in the community, are two critical components behind the 845Subie club model. "845Subie’s ultimate goal is to continue to bring people together who share a love for cars and the car community," he said proudly. "We look forward to being present at car events and charity functions, continuing to build our brand and place a positive footprint in the car community."
845Subie is a club that places more value in how it invests their time and who less fortunate will be rewarded in the interim. Club member Joe DeGiacomo stated, "In years past, the club was involved with James’s Warriors Suicide prevention and local coat drives.", clearly proving that their goals are positive and their aim is true. "Our club is made up of like-minded individuals who share a deep love for Subaru vehicles, from classic models to the latest releases.", Martin explains. "Whether you own a WRX, Outback, or Legacy, you’ll find a community that appreciates the unique qualities of Subaru engineering and design," he added. "We host regular events, including car meets, road trips, and track days. Our members also have the opportunity to participate in local Subaru events and rallies.”, he said. Martin punctuated the group's goal to be as helpful and giving as they can be with the collection of resources they have in their membership. "Whether you’re into performance tuning, off-roading, or customizing your Subaru, our club members provide resources, group buys, and advice to help you build your dream car.", he confirmed. "845Subie often partners with local Subaru shops and national brands, giving our members access to discounts on parts, accessories, and services that can help take their Subaru experience to the next level."
I've always had a deep appreciation for JDM all-wheel-drive cars. Growing up, it was always a toss-up between the WRX and the Evo—but ultimately, I chose the WRX...
My WRX has not only been a reflection of my personality and style but also a cornerstone of my journey in the car scene. It's helped shape who I am and continues to be a source of motivation and pride.

The Third Evolution
over the past few months we have been discussing a few specific enthusiast stories we would like to share with the community. A few members of the Subimods team threw one name on the table that seemed to be destined for the next slot, most importantly, to document his legacy, share his dedication for modifying, to hopefully build an inspiring tunnel for others to follow.
Sprouting out of the most Western region of Massachusetts, Joe Altiere came into this world surrounded by the beautiful countryside and historic majesty of the Berkshires out in the mountain resort town of Lee which is also famously known for the high quality marble that has come from its quarries since the mid 1800s and the prominent building it has outfitted throughout U.S. history.
While growing up at the gateway to the Berkshires, Altiere spent many hours as a child focused on his immediate, intimate surroundings and influence from family, not the mountain ranges and the history of marble excavation. He remembers that those days of youth before high school were building blocks for his passion for cars and everything attached to that culture. "I felt very lucky growing up with my dad and step dad both being car guys.", Altiere said with gratitude. "I grew up around mostly American muscle cars like Chevy Camaros, Pontiac GTO’s, TransAm’s, Firebirds, and Chevy Corvettes." Joe's interest didn't tie him to only a love for pavement speed since he developed a wide view in pushing performance early on. "As I got older, due to my being surrounded by trails and woods, I first navigated to off-roading vehicles and building fun capable rigs for hitting the trails.", he explained. Altiere's launching point into the world was evident as he stepped into manhood as education would guide.
When the first leg of his journey began, it seems ironic that he would continue spending all of his formative time surrounded by mountains. Joe would spend his early days ingesting action filled, automotive flavored video games and watching motorsports. Swimming through his college years allowed Joe to blend a combination of great memories, positive exposure, and pure inspiration by association to eventually create the needed spark to pave the way and solidify his journey and enthusiast future. "As I continued my automotive journey I expanded my love of vehicles to also include performance cars.", Joe confirmed his memories as his spirit steadily amplified while he was brought back to the beginning. "My first performance car would have had to be my 2006 EVO IX MR I purchased when I graduated college," he explained with pride.
"Along with some friends we did all the work on the car ourselves as they were lucky enough to have access to tools and a garage while I lived in an apartment at the time.", he confirmed. It's just pure logic and common sense, as many of us know, that not one of us is born with all knowledge, but we realize that half the battle of learning and being successful as a modifier is the amount of passion applied behind the effort that eventually brings victory and rewards. "I would not say I am an automotive expert, however I have always enjoyed researching and learning about all brands/styles of all vehicles.", Altiere confirmed. "There is nothing better than the sight, sounds and smell of a car such as hearing the cold start of a modified vehicle, smells of a muscle car or especially the spooling of a turbo.", Joe said as he clearly confirms how permanent his passion burns.
Please Say Hello to Your First Subaru
Many enthusiast conversations begin with, "So, how did you first get into Subarus?", or, "What was your first Subie?". This is almost asking someone to show their membership card, perform the secret handshake, or whip out the keys to the kingdom. Joe’s desires were unique based on the early exposure and influence he spoke about from those days in the Berkshires. "I grew up fascinated with watching rally racing, particularly Colin McRae driving for Subaru, " he remembered. "Spending many hours playing the Colin McRae Rally video game, I developed a love for the look, sound and performance of a Subaru." This joy cultivated within Joe's heart for years constantly reminding him that someday he will be behind the wheel of reality and the platform he admired so deeply as a boy. Grown to become a family man and father himself, the thoughts still lingered, but finally brought his dream to fruition, but not without some heavy emotional measurement. "My decision to purchase my first Subaru came with mixed emotions as I was put into the position to purchase a car after losing my 2015 built Camaro 1LE in a total loss.", he explained. "My son, who was 9 at the time, and I constantly talked about an STI being a potential next car. So we purchased a new 2021 Rally Blue STI Limited as my first Subaru.", Joe said proudly. "I really wanted a white one but as I just came from a white car and also Rally Blue being the iconic color for Subaru, we decided to go with the blue." The next piece of the puzzle was put into place. Together, the Altiere family chose an STI as their first Subaru.
The Journey Continues: Connecting with a 2019 Subaru STI
It is probably a correct assumption that the majority of Subaru owners have been bitten by a unique and highly inspirational bug that pulls them in emotionally forever. Once his decision was clear and the dedication journey had been launched, Altiere jumped on the boat and went for the long sail leading him and his family to something new just a few years into the future. By December 2024, Joe and family had chosen another vehicle and made serious plans about its future. Purchasing their 2019 Subaru STi in a private sale in Brattleboro, Vermont began the next phase in his journey and brought him to a new level of appreciation for the modification process and the investment behind every component involved in the transformation. "The car was bone stock when I purchased it so with the help of close friends, we installed all the parts ourselves," Joe explained with gratitude. "Getting together with friends in a garage talking shop and working on some type of project is exactly why I love modifying and owning my cars.", he added. "I feel extremely lucky to be surrounded with amazing people that not only want to work on projects together but more importantly take the time to include my son in the process." At this point on his path, Joe could only think about success and avoiding failure, so his choices, the support at hand, and practices he learned from previous experience paid off ten fold with little to no issues. "We were very fortunate to not run into major issues," Joe said. "Having amazing friends that have been working on their own Subarus for around 20 years made the planning and installation process much more seamless than I could have expected."
The breakdown of aftermarket parts included in his project can accurately lay out history and inspire those determined modifiers following in his footsteps. Our conversations have confirmed that Altiere's raw motives and desires as an enthusiast, mechanic, and car lover are somewhat the same as many individuals we meet, but the unique string that we have mentioned is always the component that makes the inspiration come to life more brightly. His involvement with family, his gratitude towards friends and colleagues that have contributed to the success of his journey and the overall positive rewards he has taken along the way is the truth that fuels his motivation to keep going and be victorious during the steps he takes with his Subaru in the present and the future.
"My goal in building my Subaru was to have a car that I could work on with my son that we would be proud to take to a show as well as the track.", he said. "My vision was to have a great looking car with very usable power and cornering ability to tackle the winding back roads of New England." The exhibition of family values and the desire to educate those who come after are seen not only by groups dedicated to other brands, but also to the average car owner on the street or at events. "My car journey has always been a family activity.", Joe says with gratitude. "All purchases and modification decisions are made as a family. We spend hours together researching and discussing our vision for each vehicle, detailing them together and even working on them together.", he adds. "Most importantly we make sure to enjoy them together as a family."
Subtly dreaming about the future, Joe said, "Future plans for my car would include mostly aesthetic mods. I would like to work on smaller details within the engine bay making it more car show worthy." He continued to predict the future by saying, "Along with that some smaller details such as a new steering wheel and interior monitoring gauges, otherwise I feel the car is exactly where I want it to be at this time." The Subimods team is grateful for the relationship that has been built with Altiere, his family, and his prized Subaru STI It is rewarding to support and guide a customer along the road of their modification dreams and watch the vision grow and bloom into more than another uninspired, predictable modification. "Overall, I am very happy I chose to get my STI and that I am lucky enough to live very close to Subimods.", Joe said with pride. "I got to learn of the company back in 2021 when I purchased my first Subaru car and was looking to modify it at that time. They were always extremely helpful in providing input and guidance on my modification journey." Keeping his family and what is close to his heart at the front of his mind, Altiere added, "Physically going to the Subimods showroom as well as the Tuesday night meets got my son and I hooked on Subaru’s. My son even went home and rebuilt the white Subimods shop car in the Forza Horizons video game. As fate would have it a short few years later we now own that 2019 White Subaru STI." As Joe's story definitely proves, "The Joy is in The Journey", so we hope this story inspires others to follow the same path.

reaking into a conversation about "the things we take for granted" can take an unpredictable turn depending on the subject matter and the level of seriousness behind the debate.
When the subject matter is cars, performance, or maintenance to ensure its performance, there are a few areas where individuals may meet and agree on the same things. If you take a serious look across the board and examine what is shared by both novice and expert alike, it may be clear that the understanding and importance of engine oil and lubricants in general are the most underrated and under discussed topic between enthusiasts. Obviously, if you are completely immersed in the motorsports life and or career, either as a weekend warrior or a fully branded professional, lubricants and the science behind keeping your vehicle's inner condition pristine and efficient will be on your mind daily. Those who are members of the daily grind club or modifiers who are new to the pursuit of peak performance over cosmetics might not put quality engine oil and other required lubricants on a pedestal. Frankly, as the investment cost goes up, the seriousness increases, and the lessons are learned, the focus of what is really important gets sharper and we get more educated. Newer less experienced enthusiasts in our community should not doubt if their chosen engine oil viscosity really matters. Since the engine's oil viscosity basically creates a resistance to flow, choosing a thicker formula won’t flow properly, while a thinner grade may not properly guard your engine from wear and failure. Each enthusiast is confronted with the choice between performance and protection. Do you make sure you are properly protecting your engine components or eliminating unwanted drag on engine performance? Whether you are riding down the highway with lifestyle realities clashing with performance fantasy, or someone that depends on their vehicle to pay the bills and deliver rewards, the importance of understanding engine oil should be the first box you check on your priority sheet.

Journey With Purpose
There are many lubrication manufacturers in the marketplace today that develop an array of solutions for both consumers and performance professionals who drive their vehicles with multiple purposes in mind. Few have had such an innovative impact over the global space as the development team at MOTUL, a French company who has been in business since the mid 1800's. Considering the competitive nature of the automotive industry, the acceleration and development of professional motorsports, and the rapid changes that have come to engine manufacturing in the past 100 years, this is a major accomplishment in itself. Few companies have actually contributed to the sculpting of an entire landscape for everyone who has ever sat behind the wheel of an automobile or operated a piece of machinery controlled by a gasoline motor. MOTUL has evolved as a true pioneer in this field bringing a wide range of solutions and innovations to everything from automobiles to motorcycles, light duty utility vehicles to heavy duty industrial equipment, to all forms of recreational, mechanical, and support machinery imaginable. Their team of developers grew their reputation in the early 70's as more than another lubricant provider. Launching a state-of-the-art innovation, the MOTUL 300V, was the first truly 100% synthetic multigrade lubricant, which has steadily established itself as the company's signature product for all drivers and performers who are in constant pursuit of victory. Enthusiasts who cast their gaze over any major automotive event will quickly notice their brand pasted alongside of many leaders and organizations in the motorsports industry including MotoGP, the Dakar Rally, and others.
As Subaru owners, we must realize that specific oil formulations have been engineered to serve both brand and platform depending on the level of stress and demand the driver puts on the vehicle in all environments. Ensuring proper compatibility between the oil and model is an important point that should never be compromised or left to lower budget choices. As we have highlighted, making lower cost choices at the beginning will lead to a more expensive investment later on in the vehicle's life, no matter how you slice the options. MOTUL has a number of product options that are exclusively compatible with Subaru engine models, levels of performance the driver wants to achieve, and the degree of stress the vehicle will need to manage under specific circumstances. The discerning Subaru driver requires a lubrication product or engine oil that delivers a specific resolve aligned accurately with the expectations they have for their vehicle, no matter the environment, performance situation, or level of challenge that has been set before them as they navigate their chosen journey.
As a manufacturer, MOTUL has built their business successfully by catering to the wants and desires of a large audience of dedicated enthusiasts whose lifestyles are propelled by the vehicles they drive and the creativity they express through the innovations they exploit within the overarching mechanism of their individual communities. Individuals who demand seamless performance will pursue the products they develop which have been proven over decades of victories on the track and progress on the drawing board. Breaking down a specific section of the MOTUL product line that most efficiently serves the Subaru driver will further translate how diverse but yet focused this company is in their pursuits as a premiere provider of performance lubrication. No matter what category is most compatible, MOTUL has developed something appropriate for the level of performance the Subaru of choice needs to hit.
Engine Oil Below the Surface
If we choose to understand the science behind manufacturing lubrications, we may go down a long road of details that only a small sector of experienced technologists and enthusiasts will claim to understand. It may be the belief amongst less experienced and novice automotive enthusiasts that there is little difference between budget, low priced engine oil and premiere, higher cost formulas. We've all heard the arguments, "Why should I pay that much for oil...as long as it is new, fresh, and does not have any sediment or impurities?" When you sit down and learn about the technology behind the formulation and development, it is easier to understand why you shouldn't just put any oil into your vehicle, especially when you are injecting obstacles or performance challenges. MOTUL is known for the amount of time and development efforts they invest in the engineering behind formulation, meaning that their level of technology contributes to an enhanced degree of lubrication and attention to reduced wear within the vehicle. It is easy not to understand that higher quality engine oils are designed to not only lubricate effectively, but also will create a protective barrier between those moving metal parts that make up the mechanical functions within the motor. The created protection prevents these important engine components such as camshafts, pistons, and bearings from wearing or failing earlier in their lifetime. Carefully formulated lubricant will also extend the overall lifespan of the vehicle's engine, by obviously cutting down on friction and wear, rust and corrosion, and, in the long term be less costly and less of an investment for the car owner over time. Also, purchasing a more expensive, premium engine oil will provide better fuel economy and a more responsive engine for both a consumer daily driver and a high performance professional.
MOTUL's 8100 Engine Lubricant Product Series
5W-30 Oil Options
MOTUL has developed some dynamic 5W-30 products under the 8100 series/structure which includes their Power Motor Oil, their ECO-nergy Motor Oil, their X-cess Motor Oil, and their X-clean EFE Motor Oil which addresses a number of operational challenges and demands seen by the Subaru driver whether if for daily motoring or scenarios on the track. Their premium formulate process has created a 100% Synthetic lubricant which is based on Ester oil that has been chemically synthesized. Esters are one of the classes of synthetics that maintain a stable molecular structure which in turn provide an incredible degree of solvency and also deliver impressive performance under both low-temperature and high-temperature conditions. The Subaru driver who owns a platform that may be exposed to conditions or stresses that may challenge the behavior and response of its lubricant, might choose the 8100 series 5W-30 engine oil for its versatile and wide ranging performance profile. Also, an additional benefit may be with its ability to provide good cold-start performance for various engine types configured in an array of high-performance or turbocharged vehicles seen throughout the vast stable of Subaru's offerings. MOTUL's 5W oil offering was designed to maintain a relatively easy flow at low temperatures, again being a benefit for cold starts by reducing engine wear. This oil's 30 grade viscosity makes it not as thick as 10W-40 or 20W-50 grade oils at higher temperatures, but it still provides adequate lubrication and protection for many engines at normal operating temperatures. The true versatility of MOTUL's 8100 5W-30 Oil option serves the Subaru driver as a perfect compromise with appropriate cold-start protection and thinner flow at higher temperatures. Since some Subaru drivers demand a flexible lubrication solution, this option is suitable for assorted climates and driving situations.
Many experienced Subaru enthusiasts that drive or perform with an older vehicle that is challenged by demand, extreme performance tasks, or a simple total of higher mileage might agree that the owner should choose a premium 5W-40 oil formula in their platform. This is widely known as a multigrade oil because of its focused ability to lubricate the engine properly across a diverse range of temperatures and situations. This option works particularly well under hot climate conditions and also with high mileage engines who are expected to perform under high stress scenarios. MOTUL's 8100 5W-40 line delivers products including their Power Motor Oil, the X-clean Gen 2 Motor Oil, and the X-cess Gen 2 Motor Oil which again has been formulated specifically to provide both protection and longevity under a number of desired circumstances. As we have explained before, the grading of these lubricants has significant importance since all vehicles have specific requirements and may be under a plethora of performance and average driving demands. On MOTUL's 8100 5W-40 oil has a winter viscosity grade of ‘5’, meaning it’s less viscous at very low temperatures. The ‘40’ portion of the grade then alerts the driver that this lubricant also maintains a lower viscosity at low temperatures. This again, like with other options we've outlined, this ensures the oil can still flow and lubricate effectively during cold starts. For the performance Subaru driver delivers impressive and more robust protection under extreme, challenging, and stressful conditions. MOTUL's 8100 5W-40 oil is a carefully developed and formulated 100% synthetic lubricant. The designed synthetic formula provides an incredible oil film resistance which will reduce friction and regulate pressure which contributes to a much lower operating temperature serving performance success to all types of drivers.
0W-20 Oil Options
Many of the new, modern vehicles, especially those from Subaru, are filled with unique and well engineered components which were specifically designed to use oil to meet the fuel economy and emissions dictated by today's strict standards. An engine lubricant with a 0W-20 oil is appropriate for those Subaru owners who are targeting maximum fuel efficiency but also keeping their eye focused on engine protection, longevity, and lower rate of failure, while reducing the level of impact their vehicle has on the environment. To educate about this grade further, the ‘0W’ informs the driver performance expectation in colder scenarios and the ‘20’ confirms the lubricant's viscosity at normal operating temperature. MOTUL's 0W-20 Oil is engineered to be a low-viscosity synthetic oil that flows more easily than a thicker, more viscous oil option. As we have explained regarding other options when a lubricant's viscosity is reduced internal engine friction decreases which promotes efficient performance and, in some cases, improved fuel economy. Even though this is a thin formulation by grade, this oil was designed specifically to lubricate and protect the engine adequately even if the vehicle needs to perform in colder conditions. MOTUL delivers a solution to specific Subaru drivers again with their 8100 0W-20 engine oil, another 100 percent synthetic formulation designed for high performance while delivering impressive fuel economy, low friction, low HTHS (High Temperature High Shear) and low SAPS (Sulfated Ash, Phosphorous, and Sulfur), an is available as their branded Power Motor Oil, Eco-lite GEN3 Motor Oil, or Eco-clean Motor Oil.

Rachelle Wolf: Positively West
Coast Grown
The world today is full of influencers. No matter where you look somebody is speaking about or promoting something on social media that was sparked and ignited by their true passions.
Unfortunately, sometimes when we find ourselves scanning the virtual room filled with influential individuals it can expose an underlying motive of negativity, insecurity, or hate based on an unsatisfying life or past history. When you discover an individual who, from their very beginnings, seems to have an amazing talent for turning life's challenges into positives, simply, using a strong platform to turn “lemons into lemonade", you are naturally pulled into their orbit and prompted to take notice.
Most often these individuals are not the type to sit back and wait for joy, success, and fulfillment to step up and knock on their door. If you dig back in the stories of many who have become major influencers or inspiring mentors, in any genre, you'll find a lot of hard work and sweat attached to that desire to succeed. There was not always joy in their journey, but they knew how to flip the bad to good just by fighting for what they love.
It's easy to see that hard work is a main ingredient in building character. That strong character leads to self motivation which helps to overcome hardships, failures but also is the primary tool to achieve goals. Also, these individuals may have received or been given helpful advice regarding determination, persistence, and hard work. They often are inspired by the achievements and work ethic of the mentors before them. We realize how important inspiration, expression, and creativity are in the Subaru community. It can be life changing to read about the hard work of other enthusiasts to maintain a course of discipline and motivation as you aim to achieve the goals and even gain the lifestyle you desire. It's always gratifying to discover something passionately colorful and share it for inspiration.
BeingGenuine andRelatable
Subaru enthusiasts from around the world gain the majority of their inspiration from the examples set forth by others in the community. There is literally a sea of information disseminated by videos, podcasts, articles, and promotions exhibited or hosted by well-known or not so well known presenters. This information comes through at all levels of quality and actual educational interest, but no matter what you are searching for, there is someone out there that discovered that passing their experiences forward is the best way to perpetuate a movement and truly lift up a community of like minded people who want to bring their dreams to reality. An individual that now lives her life within our community somewhere between recognizable and immediately known is Rachelle Wolf, a California native who has literally shared her learning, inspiration, and experiences regarding her cherished Subaru vehicles with a vast audience of hungry enthusiasts through a number of online platforms. Her YouTube channel, "Rachelle Wolf (Blossom STI)", described as "Just a girl and her Subies", began a few years back as a platform to share the joys and feelings behind the connection between cars and human beings. Her genuine and relatable style, her willingness to inspire and educate without an enormous ego or pretentious attitude, and her energy showing how rewarding car modification can be for the true creative, is the power and underlying influence all owners should work to achieve. Like many enthusiasts we meet in our travels, she was bitten with a spirit that morphed into an exciting drive for achievement as anyone can see unfold throughout a number of her first videos. From the first time her 2018 Subaru STI was proudly strapped on the DYNO rollers at Delicious Tuning in Vista, CA, to step-by step cosmetic upgrades through her full body Cherry Blossom livery decal application, to modifications, track days, and installation instructions, her genuine and relatable presence builds infectious interest and encouragement in the heart of a novice or expert.
Rachelle is no stranger to this journey of bringing creative dreams and desires to the surface through work and ambition. Like many of us, her passion started from a point of influence which now could look as far removed from the current result. "My passion for cars began in 2012 when I purchased a Saab 9-5 (nine five)", Wolf said. Like other enthusiasts, the first purchase, not always a Subaru, can be the first bite of inspiration, which always leads the passionate creative driver to explore, appreciate, and dive head first into this wonderful world that drives the spirit of our growing community. The acquisition of that Swedish built icon obviously was the launching pad for her future. Laying out her next steps she confirmed by adding, "My 2004 STI was purchased in August of 2019 from San Diego Auto Club, then my 2018 STI was purchased in June 2020 from BMW of Vista." Stepping up from the mold that has created so many true enthusiasts, Wolf exclaims with pride, "Between my husband and I, we have 5 Subaru's." Going back to those first years of inspiration, Rachelle remembers fondly when she dove fully into the Subaru pool. "My first performance car was my 2018 Subaru WRX CVT that I bought in July of 2017. This was my first Subaru!", she confirmed and said joyfully. "I did minimal mods to it. Wheels, exhaust, intake, suspension and then wrapped it myself." To anyone who has spent a serious amount of time around our community, attended events, or had a meaningful conversation with an enthusiast of the brand, it is evident that swimming in this water was the comfort she was seeking. Closing in on a decade of passion for her Subaru platforms has solidified her position in the community not as a passing admirer or subtle fan of her daily drive, but as a true blue advocate of both lifestyle, creative uniqueness, and the desire to express joy through your vehicle. A badge worn well by a young and inspiring woman. "On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate myself a strong 10 as a Subaru Enthusiast.", Wolf said proudly.
The Houses That Wolf Built
Now that Wolf stomped on the pedal and had become immersed in everything Subaru, she began to crave the taste of the rewards, experiences, and challenges behind modifier's ownership. Choosing a specific platform is always riddled with an onslaught of inexperienced reasonings, especially if you are motivated by your heart instead of your head. Rachelle wanted a bit more than a trophy piece to drive around the highways and byways of the West Coast. Again, discovering her pure excitement and determination through those early You Tube videos unleashes an understanding of a female enthusiast who wants to translate beyond simple ownership of a head-turner. Evolving into the fully faceted enthusiast willing to absorb, evangelize, educate, and become both driver and advocate seems to be the course she is following whole heartedly. Pulling up her bootstraps and jumping in for the long haul seems to be the mantra that propels her purpose. "I knew to progress in the industry I needed and wanted to learn to drive stick and had to upgrade to the STI.", she said. "I wanted a better transmission, bigger brakes, more HP and of course that beautiful EJ rumble. I bought my 2018 STI on a Friday afternoon and had to drive to work in rush hour traffic that coming Monday. That made me learn quickly!" Slapping on the modifier's badge is not an easy step for anyone, but once that foot leaves the ground, there is no turning back. Wolf's videos that both document her cosmetic upgrades and component installations are both relatable and encouraging since we have all opened a box and wondered if this choice will result in victory or failure. Again, Wolf's strength as an influencer and now known presence in the California mod community, comes through her wanting to learn, perform, and learn more. The life of an enthusiast that involves reaching into every cave, every question, and every problem to see what gold can be pulled out the experience, is one that requires taking paths that are not always easy and glamorous.
Sometimes it takes a village to care for one child, especially if the child has a promising future residing in the mind of a proud parent. The modification journey can prove not to be the straightest, and smoothest path. "I did most of the cosmetics," Wolf said, "outside of the wide body kit, air suspension install and custom trunk setup." The exterior enhancements, especially on Blossom, as seen in her videos, were another benefit born from this obvious family of talent. "My husband and I also wrap our own cars.", something clearly demonstrated in her early videos. "I used to take my cars to SD Auto Club in San Diego for Engine mods," Wolf explained, "but recently started a partnership with Evol Auto Works who now does the customizations." Continually uplifting her support team, she quickly proclaimed, "They can do it all!" As we all know, no modification journey progresses without obstacles or issues.
From time to time, you are going to hit a few pot holes. "I'd say the only problem I ever ran into was when my husband and I lined up next to each other while I was in my 2018 and he was in the Blobeye.", Wolf remembers. "We did a pull and the Blobeye got Rod Knock!", she exclaimed regretfully. "We discovered the Blobeye had oil consumption issues so we had to rebuild the motor." As expected, Wolf quickly flipped the script and turned a show stopping negative into a positive memory of education. "This was a great learning experience." she added. Her goals were never clouded by doubt, distraction, or any spirit that would drag her away from the work that had to be done then, or the expectations of the future. "Originally my 2018 was going to be a track car,", Wolf explained, "then I went to the wide body, bagged 3 piece wheels route and it turned into a show car that I also like to drive on weekends.", she said. "The Blobeye is set up to be a track car. Just needs some more work and then I plan to take it out to the track!", she predicted with excitement.

To the average person on the street that may not have a good understanding of automotive mechanics or the technologies involved in performance tuning, the questions asking what was modified or how it was accomplished will be extremely loaded. The economy, circumstances that come with living life, and the unpredictability of the automotive market can also be worrisome, but for a young, strong-souled, California woman like Wolf, the obstacles between her and reaching her goals are only impossible if she chooses not to continue jumping higher to dunk the ball. Her entrepreneurial spirit and consistent effort to reach people don’t seem to be fading quickly. “With my cars being well known in the Subaru Community it's a great time to meet people that are excited to see the cars in person and just hang with all the fellow Subaru enthusiasts!”, she said with pride. Her love for the brand, her true connection to her cars, and her impact as a young influencer in the industry comes through loud and clear when she speaks of her current carcultured life. "I plan to never sell Blossom and the Blobeye," she said with conviction. "They will be in my car fleet forever! I absolutely love being a part of the Subaru community.", she confirmed. "I had the opportunity to work with Subaru directly on marketing the new WRX TR before it came out. They flew me out to Thunderhill Raceway where I got to hit the track with Scott Speed in the new TR.", she said proudly. "Probably the most fun I have ever had in a Subaru!" Her engagement through events and meetings with those other enthusiasts who are on the same path and feel the same inspirations are an obvious and continuous goal for Wolf and her family. Always looking forward to events, Wolf said, “I never miss SubieFest SoCal. It is one of my favorite shows every year." Behind the wheel of a stunning piece of art and impressive chariot of performance, Wolf rolls amongst us keeping an eye on her past and a finger on the pulse of the future.
Overall, our experience now teaches us that Wolf's stance as an example and influencer is strong in this community. This is a sturdy house she has been building for close to a decade. "In 2018 I modeled car shirts for Tuned in Tokyo.", Wolf explained. "They helped me get my first 10k followers on Instagram. I just kept making content, building my car and working with different brands.", she added. "When I got my 2018 STI, my page started to blow up, and I started to get sponsors. And now, here we are!" Again, as we have emphasized, it is all about the work and the desire to make an impact to push your purpose. Wolf understands the workings of modern machinery and how it can be used to spread and share what is great about being an enthusiast, a unique creative, and how to build something that not only benefits everyone you touch, but also enhances time well spent.
"Social media has brought me opportunities to work with brands like Arizona Iced Tea, 7-11, Subaru, Skechers and more.", Wolf says with pride. "In 2020 I wrapped my 2018 STI a pistachio green color, added the cherry blossoms for Subaru, because they use cherry blossom pink, and then people started to tag Arizona Iced Tea on Instagram.", she explained. "I then realized I turned my car into an Arizona Green Tea can!
The brand reached out to me and I started working with them on promoting their merch and new flavors coming out.", she confirmed. "I noticed a lot of people do the Green Tea, so I wanted to do something more unique that hadn't been done before.", she noted. "I decided to wrap it like the Arizona Georgia Peach." In June of 2025 Arizona approached Wolf with a new idea that punctuated how her impact, inspiration, and influence was cultivated by her love for the brand and infectious attitude. "Arizona asked me if I could wrap a car like their new flavor coming out, the Whipped Pineapple Orange," she exclaimed with gratitude. "I said let's do it on the Blobeye! It turned out amazing." As the clock ticks through the days of this year, there is no doubt that the Wolf team will keep progressing, modifying, promoting the Subaru brand and its community of enthusiasts without thinking about anything other than the happiness this brings to those in their immediate orbit or the energy that surrounds them. American author Robert Collier once was quoted to say ,"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." We can confirm that the life and efforts of Rachelle Wolf, as an enthusiast, influencer, and inspiring person can be defined as success.

Who is MELE Design Firm?
Nothing is more exciting than a company that not only runs on the fuel of innovation and quality, but also has the unbridled spirit of motorsports. MELE Design Firm is steadily climbing the ladder in our industry with smart engineering that has the best interest of the car lover in their minds. The Portland Oregon-based company is the hub for premiere, quality motorsports batteries along with being a respected manufacturer of hand-crafted battery mounting systems. Offering the performance driver a product bandwidth covering OEM replacement batteries to those built on lithium technology, MELE Design Firm is a company who has continued to illuminate the Pacific Northwest in this specific genre since 2017. MELE Design Firm began confidently from a realization that Subaru's aftermarket space needed a serious injection of intelligent, efficient engineering from modern performance automotive battery manufacturing and technology. Born from the rally racing world where most part and component installs do not agree with the car manufacturers design and esthetic, the MELE focus always involved proper battery configurations and the reflection of appropriate performance. As rally competitors themselves, they knew that the vehicle may need an aftermarket solution that is not only a work-around but a correct answer to ensure proper fitment to the battery location. When the company was born, there were no mounting solutions that aligned with performance batteries in the marketplace. Employing experienced engineering and design, MeLe Design Firm morphed into a premium provider of high quality battery products that served a critical need in motorsports.
Why are MELE Design Firm products important?
At the beginning of their business, quality, robust battery mounting solutions were not available to performance drivers or enthusiasts. Mounting options were rough and questionable leaving the founder convinced he could develop something truly protective with strength and intelligent longevity. To solve this issue, these true modifiers used their ingenuity to create something from scratch - an aluminum box with a form fitting design that was applied to their own rally vehicle - which quickly gained the attention of other drivers, enthusiasts, and modifiers. This need spawned the idea of offering our design and application to the masses prompting MELE Design Firm to sell their solutions to the automotive loving public. The forward movement of steady development and high-quality ideas brought their group to what would become the release of MELE mounts and their widely used battery boxes which have outfitted vehicles who serve every corner of motorsports including international rally, track, off-road, to the passionate enthusiasts source of daily driving. This company gives full focus to quality striving to keep customer service top of mind. When a company builds itself on an innovative idea that not only protects but enhances, it sets itself apart from the world of mediocrity and copycat engineering by keeping their creativity and manufacturing close and local. This company is a true, grassroots organization doing things seen and unseen every day. From sponsoring new and or small teams, to giving back to local charity, MELE Design Firm sows seeds of good karma everywhere they go.
MELE’s reputation and tireless efforts have truly impacted drivers and influencers from all levels of the Subaru world. As many enthusiasts have begun to realize, MELE Design Firm has firmly embedded itself as premiere designers and manufacturers of modular battery mounting systems. “We are a true small batch manufacturer," CEO Mitch Meadows confirms. ”The material is all locally sourced here in Oregon and made in house. We do not outsource any work outside of the state So, it truly is made in America.”, he said. “To boot, all of our battery mounts come with a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. Even at 6 years old, our customer service remains priority number one.” Drivers of modified performance Subarus should look to the major advantages provided by innovative battery design. These innovations will provide your car with consistent, reliable power along with quick recovery when under extreme driving and performance conditions. No driver wants their safety, and performance capabilities compromised when a lower quality battery suddenly fails to provide equal, sufficient power to the vehicle's engine. Most importantly, under normal conditions for the daily driver, a low quality battery can cause misfiring, non-starts, and suppressed performance that can lead to a cascade of more serious problems. “Being American-made gives us a great sense of pride in all that we do”, Meadows says with pride. “Every sale means something to us. It helps ignite the fuel and in most cases stoke the flame, to keep on pushing and manufacturing the best parts we can.”
Who is REMARK Exhaust?
We can guarantee that there are many conversations between newer modifiers and enthusiasts who do not understand the importance behind the construction of an exhaust system. The automotive aftermarket can be a confusing space if your willingness to dig into your research is not a priority. We find that the best exhaust companies are both experienced engineers and knowledgeable drivers with personal passion born from time behind the wheel. Based in Irvine, California, REMARK Exhaust has been designing and manufacturing premiere, intelligently designed, quality, hand-crafted exhaust systems that was built from over a quarter century of real, wrench-turning enthusiast experience. Far from being a large, corporate entity with bottom line goals reminiscent of some famous automotive conglomerate, REMARK still functions as a relatively small company that is staffed by true enthusiasts who live, learn, drive, and gain real joy from their passion for motorsports. Their drive and commitment to the enthusiast community confirms that they are fully invested in providing their customers with a solution allowing their vehicle to develop a unique, authentic voice and personality through the exhaust's tone and resulting performance. Product development at Remark is a careful process since all their offerings are manufactured on-site in their factory ensuring that quality control and the steps in building their systems is always consistent and aligned to the customer's well being. The wheelhouse at Remark is managed and motivated by individuals whose words always paint an encouraging picture of an organization who are always planning to impact the industry from multiple angles.
REMARK Exhaust is a company continually changing gears trying to stay on top of the needs of the enthusiast. REMARK have molded their business model into a mechanism fueled with a desire to develop, engineer, and serve solutions that are truly supplying the creative vision of the performance community. "REMARK prides itself in design, quality, and craftsmanship.", Andy notes. "The level of precision and attention to detail is the same from our premium full titanium cat-back systems to our stainless steel axle-back kits." Quality and precision are two of the most important words in the REMARK vocabulary. "All fitment and final assembly welding is performed by hand," Andy said proudly. "We hand pick and thoroughly train all of our welding staff to ensure the highest quality for every product we produce. What you see in our product images is what you can expect to receive." REMARK works hard to expand their application range to cover older models, 90’s-2010’s. Their sub brand REMARK304 specializes in 304 Stainless Steel exhaust components, including piping, mandrel bends, transitions, muffler canisters, resonators, flanges, tips, and all parts needed to build a custom exhaust. Speaking with anyone at REMARK will confirm the level of commitment, the degree of ingenuity, and the years of experience that has evolved into a true development methodology. REMARK pushes the envelope and never bends when it comes to providing the best in class and standing behind every product. “The feedback we receive from our customers, dealers, and potential customers goes a long way.” Andy said.
Why are REMARK Exhaust products important?
REMARK Exhaust grew from an entrepreneurial enthusiast's heart."With a little money I started with a small retail shop in Melbourne, Australia - mainly selling automotive accessories.", REMARK’s CEO Andy Chen explained. "In a few years’ time, I had expanded, and was one of the premier tuning shops in Australia for Japanese cars." He focused on the Subaru brand as a result of the growing love for the GC8 platform down under. Moving forward as a practicing Subaru specialist, Andy pushed the accelerator and began to spawn real excitement and success in Australia. "My shop had an in-house AWD Dyno, engine building, full workshop, and was the official Australian importer/ distributor for many JDM brands like Apexi, TEIN, RAYS, Tomei, Mugen, Spoon, etc." Andy explained. "Through my experience at the retail shop level, motorsports support, and being involved with JDM manufacturers, it sparked my desire to produce my own highquality parts." From the beginning, Andy began to write his manual for success in this very competitive space, not forgetting how quality and focusing on the details is critical to seeing victory. Since their launch, REMARK have molded their business model into a mechanism fueled with a desire to develop, engineer, and serve solutions that are truly supplying the creative vision of the performance community. "REMARK prides itself in design, quality, and craftsmanship.", Andy notes. This brand has intelligently navigated through an industry with a sharp eye for progress and consistency. “At the core, we strive to offer value to our customers.”
