THE COMMUNITY MAUSOLEUM AT BETHEL CEMETERY 02 CIVIC CENTER IN BARCELONA
03 TINY HOUSE PROJECT
PROJECT TYPE: COMMERTIAL
This project proposes a mausoleum that integrates client values, user experience, and architectural intent to create a dignified, inclusive, and reflective environment for remembrance.
Tranquil reflection spaces, including memorial gardens, water features, and shaded seating, support grief and contemplation, while flexible ceremonial areas accommodate diverse cultural and religious traditions. A strong horizontal datum line organizes circulation and program, ensuring intuitive navigation and accessibility for all visitors.
Inspired by the work of Luis Barragán, the design uses simple geometric forms, repetition, and natural materials to establish a calm, timeless architectural language and a deep connection to nature through preserved trees, courtyards, and expansive views.
Spatial hierarchy is expressed through scale, with a double-height chapel emphasizing its spiritual significance, while narrower pathways open into larger garden spaces to heighten moments of reflection and honor. Privacy is created through geometric repetition that forms smaller exterior pockets and quiet rooms for solitude and remembrance. Together, these strategies foster a serene, grounded experience that supports healing, connection, and collective memory.
EXTERIOR VIEW | ENTRY
EXPLODED AXONOMETRIC

PROJECT TYPE: COMMERCIAL
THE DESIGN APPROACH SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATES INTERIRO AND EXTERIOR SPACES, WITH GARDENS ADORNING EACH FLOOR THAT SERVES AS AN EXTENSION OF THE PRIMARY GARDEN SPACE IN BARCELONA. THE DESIGN PEOCESS INVOLVED GENERATING A GRID THAT CONNECTS WITH HISTORIC LANDMARKS SUCH AS THE CASTEL, THE MAIN PRIMARY GARDEN, AND THE ARCH. WHILE ALSO USING GEOMETRIC SHAPES PREVALENT IN THE CITY, SUCH AS SQUARES AND RECTANGLES.
THE GARDEN, CASTLE, AND THE ARCH ARE CELEBRATED BY ROTATING THE TWO BUILDINGS ON THE SECOND FLOOR RO ALIGN WITH THE LANDMARKS, CREATING COURTYARDS THAT ALLOW AMPLE NATURAL LIGHT. EACH GARDEN ADOPTS AN ORGANIC APPROACH TO ESTABLISH HIERARCHY, BREAKING AWAY FROM CONVENTIONAL STRAIGHT LINES.
THE CIVIC CENTER AIMS TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS BY TRANSFORMING THE SCULPTURE GARDEN INTO A SPACE FOR GROWING FOOD, WHICH WOULD BE EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO THE KITCHEN. THE SECOND ATTEMPT TO ADDRESSING HOMELESSNESS IS BY PROVIDING EXTERIOR SHOWERS IN THE WATER PARK THAT ARE INCLUSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE. THE OVERARCHING AIM IS TO CULTIVATE A SAFE AND INVITING SPACE FOR THE COMMUNITY. FEATURING A WATER PARK TO ATTRACT FAMILIES, IN ORDER TO CREATE MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES WITHIN THE SPACE.
