The Tampa Museum of Art presents Jun Kaneko: Silence Before Sound, the first major Florida exhibition dedicated to the internationally celebrated Japanese-American artist. Through large-scale forms, rhythmic patterns, and carefully layered glaze techniques, Kaneko embraces the Japanese concept of Ma—the meaningful pause between gestures and space. Featuring nearly fifty works, the exhibition highlights the artist’s innovative creative process and mastery of scale while offering visitors an immersive experience centered around balance, stillness, craftsmanship, and contemporary artistic expression.

Following acclaimed runs in London, Melbourne, Toronto, Miami, and Tel Aviv, the exhibition introduces a bold contemporary energy to Tampa’s growing arts scene while giving audiences a rare opportunity to experience the mysterious artist’s work up close.

Blending street art, cultural commentary, and immersive exhibition design, The Art of Banksy offers a compelling experience for both longtime admirers and new audiences. The exhibition highlights the enduring influence of one of contemporary art’s most mysterious figures while reinforcing Tampa’s expanding presence within the international arts landscape.

WATER Street 2.0

THE FUTURE OF LUXURY LIVING AND ENTERTAINMENT IN TAMPA

For nearly a decade, Water Street Tampa has been the city's defining symbol of modern urban luxury. What began as an ambitious vision to transform downtown's waterfront into a walkable district of residences, hotels, restaurants, and public spaces has evolved into one of the most successful mixed-use developments in the nation. Now, Water Street is entering its next chapter—and it may be its most exciting yet.

Strategic Property Partners (SPP), the developer behind Water Street Tampa, recently unveiled plans for a transformational entertainment district that will expand the neighborhood beyond luxury living and hospitality into a dynamic destination for music, nightlife, dining, and cultural experiences. The project marks a significant milestone in the continued evolution of downtown Tampa and further positions the city as one of the Southeast's most desirable places to live, work, and play.

At the heart of the new district will be a state-of-the-art, 3,500-seat live music and entertainment venue designed to fill an important gap in Tampa's entertainment landscape. Operated in partnership with Vinik Sports Group, the venue will host concerts, comedy performances, immersive events, and community programming, creating a new stage for artists and experiences that fall between intimate clubs and arena-scale productions.

But this is far more than a concert venue.

The entertainment district has been envisioned as a fully integrated extension of Water Street's luxury lifestyle ecosystem. Plans include a new 250-room hotel, approximately 80,000 square feet of dining,

retail, and hospitality space, activated public plazas, outdoor gathering areas, and pedestrian-friendly streets designed to encourage exploration and social connection. The result will be a destination that remains vibrant not only during major events but throughout the year.

What makes Water Street unique is its commitment to creating experiences rather than simply constructing buildings. Unlike traditional entertainment districts centered around a single attraction, Water Street's next phase aims to blend luxury hospitality, culinary excellence, and public engagement into one cohesive environment. Visitors may begin their evening with rooftop cocktails, enjoy a concert, linger for dinner, and continue the night in lively public spaces without ever leaving the district.

The development also reinforces Tampa's emergence as a national destination for luxury travel. Existing hospitality anchors such as the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street and the renowned The Tampa EDITION have already elevated the city's profile among discerning travelers seeking sophisticated accommodations, world-class dining, and curated experiences. The addition of another hotel and expanded entertainment offerings strengthens Water Street's position as Tampa's premier luxury destination.

Equally important is the project's emphasis on placemaking. Plans call for more than 25,000 square feet of activated public spaces, including a central plaza designed to host outdoor entertainment, pre-event programming, and community gatherings. These thoughtfully designed environments have become a hallmark of Water Street's success, encouraging residents and visitors

alike to engage with the city in new and meaningful ways.

For Tampa residents, Water Street 2.0 represents something larger than a new development. It reflects the city's growing confidence and ambition. Once viewed primarily as a gateway to Florida's Gulf Coast, Tampa is increasingly being recognized as a destination in its own right—one that attracts luxury brands, major investment, cultural programming, and a new generation of residents seeking an elevated urban lifestyle.

The timing could not be better. As affluent buyers continue to relocate from major metropolitan markets and as Tampa's business community expands, demand for walkable neighborhoods, luxury residences, experiential dining, and entertainment-driven environments continues to grow. Water Street has become the blueprint for this evolution, demonstrating that modern urban living can be both sophisticated and distinctly Tampa.

Construction is expected to begin following the city's approval process, with the project moving through development review in 2026. While the district's physical transformation is still ahead, its impact is already being felt. Water Street's next phase signals a future where Tampa competes not only with Florida's traditional luxury markets but with some of the most dynamic urban destinations in the country.

If the first chapter of Water Street introduced a new vision for downtown living, Water Street 2.0 promises to redefine what luxury entertainment, hospitality, and urban lifestyle can look like in Tampa. And for a city that continues to exceed expectations, the future has never looked brighter.

In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.”

With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering.

Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life.

As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our

community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best.

When seeking perfection, we search for the professional who has made it his or her life goal to excel within a field of specialization through many years of study, dedication and determination, continually challenging themselves to advance their knowledge; these brilliant human beings not only save lives but also enrich their communities with a skill set second to none. Beyond this and in order to stay abreast of the latest, almost daily changing

medical advancements, the ‘elite’ undergo rigorous maintenance, updating through seminars, conferences and advanced studies to keep current with new technology and procedures.

In adding our ‘Tampa’s Elite Doctors’ section with this issue, we present a group of physicians, all of whom are reputable, Board Certified in their areas of expertise, extremely well recognized within our community and chosen by their peers. Our objective is to initiate a continuing dialogue with our readers, with an aim toward personalizing some of the finest doctors available.

Kinetic Medical Consultants | Tactical Mind Solutions

Leading the Future of Human Performance Medicine

Founded in Tampa in 2020 and expanding in 2024, Kinetic Medical Consultants and Tactical Mind Solutions were created with a bold vision: to bridge the gap between conventional healthcare and the specialized, performance-focused care often reserved for elite populations. Drawing on decades of experience working with military personnel, Special Operations forces, NASA astronauts, aviators, veterans, and other professionals in high-consequence environments, the organizations were built to help people not only recover from challenges but also adapt, perform, and thrive. Guided by the belief that every individual possesses an innate capacity for healing and growth, the team combines operational medicine, advanced behavioral healthcare, neuroscience, and clinical research into one integrated model.

The company’s name reflects its mission. “Kinetic” symbolizes movement, energy, and progress, while “Tactical Mind” represents resilience, adaptability, and purposeful growth. Together, they embody a commitment to translating cutting-edge science into practical solutions that enhance human performance and well-being. Their innovative approach has earned recognition throughout Florida, particularly for complex aviation, occupational, and fitness-for-duty evaluations, while also expanding into neuroscience-informed mental health and resilience programs.

A defining milestone came when Tactical Mind Research Coalition, the veteranowned nonprofit research organization affiliated with Tactical Mind Solutions, was recognized through its involvement in federally supported initiatives led by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). Focused on advancing neuroscience and mental health research for veterans, aviators, and other high-performance populations, the coalition’s work placed the organization alongside leading universities, innovators, and federal partners helping shape the future of mental healthcare. This distinction highlighted the team’s commitment to translating emerging science into practical, real-world solutions that improve resilience, recovery, and human performance. Yet, for the team, success is measured less by accolades and more by meaningful outcomes—whether helping a veteran rediscover purpose, supporting a pilot’s return to the cockpit, or empowering an individual to overcome adversity.

At the heart of the organization is a culture rooted in integrity, service, collaboration, and lifelong learning. By blending evidence-based medicine with emerging neuroscience, Kinetic Medical Consultants and Tactical Mind Solutions continue to redefine what is possible in resilience, recovery, and human performance while making those advances accessible to the communities they serve.

Dr. Amarillys A Sojo MD

Known throughout the Tampa Bay area as Dr. Sojo, Dr. Amarillys AlvaradoSojo has dedicated her life to helping people feel their best—inside and out. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she spent much of her childhood in hospitals, an experience that sparked an early appreciation for medicine and compassionate care. As a teenager, volunteering in a hospital confirmed her calling to serve others. Today, that same passion fuels her work in aesthetic medicine, where she helps patients achieve refreshed, confident, and naturally beautiful results.

Dr. Alvarado-Sojo earned her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and completed her U.S. Army Family Medicine training, caring for military members and their families. Her career later took her overseas for 14 years through work with the Department of Defense and DoDEA. These experiences instilled the values that continue to define her practice today: discipline, integrity, attention to detail, and the importance of truly listening. She further expanded her expertise through advanced aesthetic training, earning Diplomate status with the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, Master Injector certification, and specialized facial anatomy training through leading educational programs.

As the founder of Ageless Skin Mobile Aesthetic Medicine, Dr. AlvaradoSojo provides concierge aesthetic services throughout Tampa Bay, delivering personalized treatments in the comfort and privacy of her patients’ homes. Her philosophy is simple: “Enhancing natural beauty with a little science, artistry, and magic.” She believes aesthetic medicine should enhance, not change, who a person is, creating results that look natural, elegant, and never overdone.

After years of military moves, Tampa became the forever home she and her husband were seeking. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, snowboarding, and spending time with her growing family, especially her grandchildren. For Dr. Alvarado-Sojo, success is measured by trust, lasting relationships, and helping every patient feel confident at every stage of life.

After earning a double major in Chemistry and History from Amherst College, Dr. Alvarez received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine before completing his urology training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Today, he practices the full spectrum of general urology with a special focus on minimally invasive treatments for kidney and prostate cancers. Dr. Lisa French

Clinical Psychiatrist

For Dr. Lisa French, understanding people has been a lifelong fascination. Growing up in the Washington, D.C. area, she began exploring human behavior at an early age—conducting “interviews” with her brother about his dreams. Although her path initially included interests in law and a career in computer programming and analysis, her curiosity about the human mind ultimately led her to medicine and psychiatry, where she found her true calling.

Dr. French earned her medical degree from Michigan State University, graduating with honors in Ethics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. She completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency through Wayne State University, where her elective work with children helped shape a career dedicated to serving patients across all stages of life. Throughout the years, she has built broad expertise in outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, geriatric care, substance use disorders, emergency psychiatry, crisis residential treatment, and community mental health. Today, she provides outpatient psychiatric care for both children and adults, approaching every patient with compassion, collaboration, and individualized attention.

After spending more than two decades visiting her parents in Tampa each Christmas, Dr. French eventually made the move herself to the city she had long loved. She appreciates Tampa Bay’s cultural diversity, vibrant arts scene, and natural beauty, which continue to enrich both her personal and professional life. Her guiding philosophy is simple: success is achieved through teamwork. She strives to be a calm, consistent presence who listens carefully and develops comprehensive, personalized treatment plans that help patients thrive.

Outside the office, Dr. French enjoys spending time with her three grown children, her grandson, friends, and beloved dogs. Whether exploring local museums, attending performances at the Straz Center, visiting botanical gardens, or supporting community causes, she remains deeply committed to helping others. Looking ahead, she hopes to expand mental health support for underserved youth and continue making a meaningful difference throughout the Tampa Bay community.

Dr. Holden Heitner

Orthopedic Upper Extremity Shoulder to Hand Surgeon

Raised in Buffalo, New York, he learned early that hard work, discipline, and making the most of every opportunity were simply part of life. Those values became the foundation of a career dedicated to helping people regain function, independence, and confidence. His interest in medicine began to take shape at the University of Michigan, where he worked in the laboratory that pioneered ECMO technology. Surrounded by innovation and immersed in the study of human physiology, he developed a fascination with the mechanics of the human body and the science behind recovery and performance.

He went on to complete medical school and orthopedic residency training in upstate New York before practicing as a general orthopedic surgeon in Watertown. During those formative years, he refined his clinical judgment and gained broad experience treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions. In 2020, he relocated to Florida to complete fellowship training at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. There, he further developed expertise in shoulder-to-hand care, including sports injuries, trauma, nerve and tendon repair, and complex reconstructive procedures.

Today, he serves patients throughout the Tampa Bay area with a philosophy centered on one guiding principle: “Restore function to maximize life.” He believes successful treatment goes beyond fixing an injury—it means helping patients return to the activities, careers, and lifestyles that matter most. Through thoughtful decision-making, meticulous surgical care, and close collaboration with therapy teams, he tailors treatment plans to each individual’s goals.

Outside of medicine, family remains his greatest priority. He and his wife, Sarah, a psychiatrist, are raising their daughter in the Tampa Bay area, where they enjoy boating, golfing, beach days, and community traditions. For him, the most rewarding moments are seeing patients regain confidence, restore function, and return to living life fully.

Dr. Janice Summers, MD

Full-Body MRI & Cardiac CTA Center

Born from both personal loss and professional purpose, TrueScan was founded in St. Petersburg by Janice Summers, MD, and her son, Michael, with a mission to change the way disease is detected. After witnessing loved ones receive unexpected Stage IV cancer diagnoses, Dr. Summers—a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician with more than 30 years of experience—became determined to create a future where preventable diseases are identified before they become life-threatening. That vision led to the launch of TrueScan, a proactive imaging center dedicated to helping patients take control of their health through early detection.

At the heart of TrueScan’s approach are two advanced screening services: the Full-Body MRI and Coronary CTA with HeartFlow AI. The FullBody MRI provides a comprehensive, radiation-free evaluation capable of detecting cancers, aneurysms, autoimmune disorders, and other serious conditions in their earliest stages. Meanwhile, the Coronary CTA with HeartFlow AI offers one of the most advanced non-invasive assessments of heart disease available today, identifying dangerous plaque and evaluating blood flow with remarkable precision. Together, these technologies allow patients and physicians to uncover hidden health risks before symptoms ever appear.

One of TrueScan’s most meaningful milestones came when the center detected its first Stage I cancer in an individual who felt completely healthy. Since then, the team has helped uncover many other cancers, life-threatening aneurysms, significant cardiac blockages, neurological conditions, and other serious findings that may have otherwise gone undiagnosed for years. These success stories continue to strengthen relationships with physicians and specialists throughout the Tampa Bay region.

Today, TrueScan remains physician-led and driven by a culture of innovation, compassion, and prevention. Supported by a distinguished team of radiology, cardiology, and surgical experts, the center is redefining healthcare by shifting the focus from reacting to disease to finding it early. For TrueScan, the goal is simple but powerful: give patients the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives through proactive screening and early intervention.

The resurgence of the supper club also speaks to Tampa's continued evolution as a cultural and culinary destination.

The Return of GLAMOUR

For years, a night out typically followed a familiar formula: dinner at one destination, cocktails at another, and perhaps live entertainment somewhere else. Today, however, Tampa's luxury dining scene is embracing a more sophisticated approach— one that combines exceptional cuisine, elevated cocktails, live entertainment, and social connection into a single immersive experience.

Welcome to the return of the supper club.

Once synonymous with the golden age of hospitality, supper clubs were legendary gathering places where guests lingered over multi-course meals while enjoying live music, elegant surroundings, and an atmosphere of exclusivity. From New York and Las Vegas to Miami and Hollywood, these venues represented the pinnacle of nightlife. Now, a new generation of entrepreneurs and restaurateurs is bringing that same spirit of glamour back to Tampa.

Unlike traditional restaurants, today's supper clubs are designed around the entire evening rather than just the meal. Guests arrive for handcrafted cocktails, settle into luxurious surroundings, enjoy chef-driven cuisine, and remain long after dessert for live performances, curated music, and a vibrant social atmosphere. The experience is less about dining and more about creating memorable moments.

This growing trend reflects a broader shift in consumer preferences. Affluent diners

are increasingly seeking experiences over transactions. Rather than rushing through dinner reservations, they are looking for venues that offer entertainment, connection, and a sense of occasion. The modern supper club answers that demand by transforming an ordinary night out into a carefully curated event.

One of Tampa's newest examples is The Sapphire Lounge & Supper Club, a concept that blends upscale dining, live entertainment, VIP hospitality, and nightlife under one roof. Designed to create a seamless transition from dinner to late-night socializing, venues like Sapphire are helping redefine what luxury hospitality looks like in Tampa.

The resurgence of the supper club also speaks to Tampa's continued evolution as a cultural and culinary destination. Over the past decade, the city has experienced tremendous growth in luxury residential development, hospitality, and fine dining. Neighborhoods such as Water Street Tampa, Hyde Park, and downtown St. Petersburg have attracted sophisticated restaurants, luxury hotels, and an increasingly discerning clientele. As Tampa's dining scene matures, the demand for elevated, experiencedriven concepts continues to grow.

Atmosphere plays a central role in the appeal. Rich interiors, ambient lighting, live musicians, curated cocktail programs, and personalized service all contribute to an environment that feels both exclusive and welcoming. Guests are encouraged to slow down, stay awhile, and enjoy the company

around them. In many ways, the modern supper club offers an antidote to the fastpaced nature of contemporary life.

For Tampa's luxury crowd, the appeal is undeniable. Whether celebrating a special occasion, entertaining clients, or simply seeking an unforgettable evening, supper clubs provide a level of sophistication that extends beyond traditional dining.

As the city's culinary scene continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the return of the supper club is more than a trend. It is a reflection of a growing desire for meaningful experiences, elevated hospitality, and timeless glamour. And in Tampa, that new era is just getting started.

One of Tampa's newest examples is The Sapphire Lounge & Supper Club, a concept that blends upscale dining, live entertainment, VIP hospitality, and nightlife under one roof.

Sunshine STATE OF MIND

THE DAILY HABITS THAT BRIGHTEN YOUR MOOD, SHARPEN YOUR MIND, AND NOURISH YOUR SOUL

Florida may be known as the Sunshine State, but cultivating a little sunshine in our own lives takes more than blue skies and beach days.

The truth is, how we feel each day is shaped less by big moments and more by the small choices we make daily, like the way we move, sleep, think, connect, and spend our time. Research suggests these daily habits influence not only our mood, but also our focus, memory, resilience, energy levels, and overall wellbeing. Think of it as adding a little sunshine to your soul.

Get Moving, Like Really Moving

Most of us know exercise is good for our bodies. What many people don’t realize is that it’s also one of the best things we can do for our brains.

In his bestselling book Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain, psychiatrist John Ratey famously described exercise as “Miracle-Gro for the brain.” Regular movement has been linked to improved mood, sharper focus, stronger memory, and reduced stress.

The best part? You don’t need to train for a marathon. A morning walk, bike ride, pickleball match, or sunset stroll all count. As Dan Buettner found in his Blue Zones research, some of the world’s longest-living communities simply make movement a natural part of daily life.

The Power of Sleep

In a culture that celebrates busyness, sleep is often the first thing sacrificed.

Yet according to neuroscientist Matthew Walker, author of Why We Sleep, quality sleep plays a critical role in learning, memory, emotional regulation, creativity, and overall health.

Think of sleep as your brain’s overnight housekeeping service. While you’re resting, your body and mind are busy repairing, processing, and preparing for the day ahead.

If you’ve ever felt irritable, forgetful, or unable to concentrate after a poor night’s sleep, you’ve experienced firsthand how closely our well-being is tied to rest. Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply go to bed a little earlier.

Curate What You Consume

We pay attention to what we put on our plates, but how often do we think about what we’re feeding our minds?

From social media and breaking news to podcasts and endless notifications, we’re constantly consuming information. Some of it inspires us. Some of it drains us.

More than a century ago, James Allen wrote in As a Man Thinketh, “A man is literally what he thinks.” While modern science may phrase it differently, the principle remains relevant: our thoughts influence our attitudes, behaviors, and outlook on life.

Similarly, Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* reminds us that our energy is finite. One of the healthiest things we can do is become more selective about what deserves our attention.

A simple question to ask yourself: Is this deserving of my attention, or merely demanding it?

Summer can be a wonderful opportunity to swap a little screen time for sunshine time, a little noise for reflection, and a little distraction for presence.

Invest in Relationships

If there is one thing researchers consistently agree on, it’s that relationships matter. The Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies on wellbeing, found that strong relationships are among the greatest predictors of a healthy and fulfilling life. As study director Robert Waldinger famously said, “Good relationships keep us healthier and happier.”

Whether it’s dinner with friends, a family gathering, a coffee date, or a phone call you’ve been meaning to make, meaningful connection nourishes us in ways technology never can.

In a world that often feels increasingly digital, making time for real conversations may be one of the most powerful wellness practices available.

And, don’t Forget to Look Up

A colorful sunset. A summer thunderstorm. The sound of waves meeting the shore.

Researchers studying awe: the feeling of wonder we experience when encountering something larger than ourselves, have found that these moments can reduce stress and increase feelings of connection and well-being.

In Florida, opportunities for awe are everywhere. The challenge isn’t finding them. It’s slowing down long enough to notice.

A Sunshine State of Mind isn’t about being happy all the time. It’s about creating habits that support a healthy mind, a strong body, and a resilient spirit. This summer, consider it an invitation to soak up a little more sunshine, and not just from Florida’s skies, but from the routines, relationships, and rituals that help you feel your best.

Nuvolari

In a bold leap into the realm of hyper-exclusive motoring, Audi has introduced the Nuvolari, its first-ever production supercar boasting a highperformance hybrid powertrain. Limited to just 499 units with deliveries slated for the first half of 2027, this mid-engine masterpiece promises to be the fastest and most powerful vehicle in the brand’s storied history. With a staggering 1,001 PS (736 kW) system output and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h, the Nuvolari isn’t just an evolution—it’s a revolution inspired by Formula 1 precision.

Unveiled amid the sun-drenched backdrop of Antibes and Ingolstadt on June 4, 2026, the Nuvolari accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 2.6 seconds and hits 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. These figures stem from a sophisticated hybrid setup: a thunderous 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine producing 800 hp and 730 Nm of torque—revving to an exhilarating 10,000 rpm—paired with three axial-flux electric motors. Two motors up front deliver massive torque vectoring, while a third sits between the engine and

transmission. A compact 7.3 kWh lithiumion battery completes the electrified arsenal, enabling short-distance electric driving in E-Hybrid mode.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner captured the ambition perfectly: “With the Audi Nuvolari, we are accelerating technological progress, focusing on technology, performance, and execution through teamwork.” CTO Rouven Mohr echoed the sentiment, crediting Formula 1 as a key catalyst for rapidly translating track innovations to the road.

Design That Commands Presence

As the first production car to embody Audi’s new design philosophy, the Nuvolari fuses supercar aggression with sleek, monolithic proportions. The mid-engine layout creates a powerful stance, while taut surfaces and seamless tech integration define its silhouette. Finished in the signature Titanium paint— shared with the Concept C and F1 racer—

As the first production car to embody Audi’s new design philosophy, the Nuvolari fuses supercar aggression with sleek, monolithic proportions.

and accented by carbon-fiber elements, it exudes precision and menace. Nearly all exterior panels utilize carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), crafted via prepreg autoclave technology honed in motorsport. This yields lightweight strength and complex aerodynamic forms, including an S-duct front end.

Quattro Predictive Ride and Active Aerodynamics

Beyond raw power, the Nuvolari elevates dynamics with the groundbreaking quattro predictive ride system. It processes realtime data—steering angle, yaw rate, grip levels—to proactively distribute torque, apply brakes, and adjust aero for unmatched stability, even in wet or slippery conditions. Drivers select from E-Hybrid, Balanced, Dynamic, Dynamic+, and Track modes, with the latter offering fine-tuned traction control from Wet to TC Off.

Active aerodynamics, refined with input from Audi’s F1 drivers, take center stage. A deployable rear wing adapts across Closed, Low Downforce, and High Downforce positions, generating over 400 kg of downforce when needed. A manual Drag Reduction System (DRS) button unlocks extra top speed on straights, mirroring F1 tactics.

The lightweight Audi Space Frame with full carbon exterior ensures razor-sharp handling, while the advanced braking system—featuring massive carbon-ceramic discs, ten-piston calipers, and hybrid recuperation—delivers F1-level stopping power without fade.

Driver-Focused Interior

Inside, the Nuvolari prioritizes the thrill of driving. A minimalist cockpit places controls within easy reach, with digital displays and physical switches delivering intuitive feedback. Dark tones up front promote focus, contrasting with lighter Shadow Dune accents

rearward. Carbon-fiber bucket seats offer supreme support, while aluminum details and nods to the 1930s Auto Union racers add heritage flair.

Named after legendary Italian driver Tazio Nuvolari—celebrated for his fearless ingenuity—the supercar embodies that same relentless pursuit of victory. For U.S. enthusiasts, note that this is currently a European pre-production prototype; final specs, pricing, and EPA figures will follow in a future announcement.

In an era where electrification meets uncompromised performance, the Audi Nuvolari stands as a halo for the four rings. With its blend of hybrid innovation, aerodynamic mastery, and exquisite craftsmanship, it’s poised to captivate collectors and thrill-seekers alike. As Orlando’s luxury scene continues to evolve, this is one machine that demands attention— on the page, on the track, and in the driveway.

“Free Kill” Law

In 1990, Florida became the only state to differentiate medical malpractice from other types of wrongful death by including an exception in its medical-malpractice laws that severely limited families from pursuing damages in lawsuits when deaths are caused as a result of medical error.

To illustrate the difference, we can compare cases when death is caused by motor vehicle negligence to cases when death is caused by medical malpractice.

Take a 40-year-old son whose unmarried mother is killed when another driver runs a red light and crashes into the mother. The son is eligible to recover damages from the negligent driver.

Take another 40-year-old son whose unmarried mother is killed when hospital physicians fail to appreciate that the mother is experiencing a heart attack, misdiagnose her as having a chest cold, and discharge her home to die. The son is NOT eligible to recover damages from the negligent hospital physicians.

This difference in Florida law provides medical professionals with significant insulation and much greater protection than is

otherwise provided to others whose negligence has caused wrongful death. Many critics have named this law the “free kill” statute.

When it was passed, lawmakers and medical industry professionals believed without this limitation, medical malpractice premiums would soar and push physicians to shut down their practices or even move out of the state, thus reducing healthcare access for state residents.

But if this were true, how come all the other states have yet to adopt this law?

After decades of challenges against this law, in early 2025, a proposal was presented to committees to repeal the “free kill” statute. This initiative was sponsored by Representative Dana Trabulsy of Fort Pierce. During the committee process, supporters of the repeal shared heartbreaking and emotional stories of losing loved ones with no legal recourse under the current law.

After swiftly clearing with committee approval, HB 6017 was formally presented in the Florida legislature to eliminate the “free kill” law.  During the 2025 spring legislative session, the bill overwhelmingly passed both chambers

(the Florida House of Representatives AND the Florida Senate) and would allow adult children over 25 and the parents of adult children to seek non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering, when a family member dies due to medical negligence and is unmarried with no minor children.

On May 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM, the bill was signed by Officers and presented to Governor DeSantis.

Unfortunately, on May 29, 2025, at 4:48 PM, Governor DeSantis vetoed this legislation that would have repealed the 35-year-old legal provision preventing many families from suing for the wrongful death of loved ones due to medical malpractice.

While this law only applies in Florida, we do still have exceptional physicians in the state. And while some of them are listed in this issue, it’s important to always do your research, look for board certifications and seek out the quality physicians specialized in your needed surgeries and operations.

An Emergency Fund

CAN HELP PROTECT YOUR LONG-TERM INVESTMENTS

Imperial Wealth Management Group

Donald C. Schultz, AWM, AIF®, CPFA First Vice President - Financial Advisor Office: 727-895-8807

Email: donald.schultz@rbc.com us.rbcwm.com/imperialwmg

As an investor, you likely have some ambitious financial goals: perhaps funding college for your kids, a vacation home or some extended travels, and, most importantly, a comfortable retirement. But your progress toward these long-term objectives can be slowed considerably by short-term financial needs — and that’s why an emergency fund is crucial.

What type of short-term financial needs might you encounter? A new furnace, a new roof, your car’s transmission, your kid’s braces — the list goes on and on. And if your normal cash flow isn’t enough to meet these expenses, you may be forced to dip into your IRA, 401(k), brokerage accounts or other investment vehicles. By doing so, you might incur fees, penalties and taxes — especially if you withdraw from tax-deferred accounts that are designed to help you save for retirement.

But by tapping into these investments, you would also incur an even bigger cost — the opportunity cost. That is, by taking money out of these vehicles, you would decrease their value today — and thereby end up with a smaller platform for tomorrow’s growth opportunities.

Of course, people who “borrow” from their long-term investments to pay for short-term needs promise themselves that they’ll quickly repay these accounts. But that’s not the easiest promise to keep, given the day-to-day expenses we all face.

Consequently, to help protect your long-term investments and allow them as much growth potential as possible, you should set up an emergency fund containing six to 12 months’ worth of living expenses. (Generally speaking, the closer you are to retirement, the larger the emergency fund you’ll need.)

When you create an emergency fund, the key word to remember is liquidity. You need a fund that gives you immediate, penaltyfree access to your money. You probably already have that type of liquidity in your regular checking and savings accounts, but it’s best to keep your emergency fund in a

separate vehicle – one that you won’t touch for everyday expenses. For example, a money market account. The point isn’t to earn a return; it’s to protect your principal from market volatility and to be easily and quickly accessible for withdrawals.

Six to 12 months’ worth of living expenses might sound like a lot to put away, and it can be if you try to do it all at once. Instead, strive to build your emergency fund gradually by contributing whatever you can afford each month. To help yourself along, you may want to have money automatically moved from your checking account to your emergency fund.

You might be pleasantly surprised to see how quickly your account can grow. And once you have a solid emergency fund established, you’ll be able to face unexpected expenses with more confidence (and hopefully less stress) than before. Best of all, you’ll avoid draining your long-term investments — which means one less hurdle on the road to achieving your financial goals.

Beyond Clear Vision

THE ART AND SCIENCE OF PERSONALIZED CATARACT SURGERY

For decades, cataract surgery was viewed as a straightforward procedure: remove the cloudy lens and restore sight. While that remains the foundation of treatment, modern cataract care has evolved into something far more sophisticated. Today, advances in diagnostic technology, surgical precision, and lens design allow surgeons to move beyond simply removing cataracts and toward creating a visual outcome tailored to each individual.

This evolution has given rise to Personalized Cataract Surgery—an approach that recognizes that vision is not one-size-fits-all.

Personalized cataract surgery is a customized approach to cataract treatment in which surgical planning, technology, and lens implant selection are tailored to each patient’s unique eyes, lifestyle, and long-term vision goals. Rather than applying a standard solution to every patient, modern cataract care seeks to align surgical decisions with how each person wants to see and live after surgery. Because vision influences nearly every aspect of daily life—from reading and working to traveling, exercising, and spending time with family— today’s cataract surgery increasingly focuses not only on restoring clarity but on improving quality of life.

Cataract Surgery Has Become About More Than Cataract Removal

A cataract develops when the eye’s natural lens gradually becomes cloudy, leading to symptoms such as blurred vision, glare, faded colors, difficulty reading, and challenges with night driving.

Today’s cataract surgery does far more than remove that cloudy lens. For many patients, surgery presents an opportunity to improve overall visual quality and align vision with personal priorities. Advances in surgical planning and lens technology now allow treatment to be designed around real-life visual needs.

For one patient, success may mean reading a favorite novel without reaching for glasses. For another, it may mean sharper distance vision for golf, travel, or an active lifestyle. Someone else may prioritize reduced glare and greater confidence while driving after sunset. Others may hope to improve computer vision or reduce dependence on corrective lenses.

Every patient’s goals are different—and personalized cataract surgery embraces those differences.

What Makes Cataract Surgery Personalized?

No two eyes are exactly alike. Corneal shape, the presence of astigmatism, visual habits, occupational demands, and expectations after surgery all influence treatment planning. A personalized approach may include:

Advanced Diagnostic Testing

Modern imaging and measurement technologies provide highly detailed information about the eye before surgery. These measurements allow surgeons to better evaluate eye anatomy and select the most appropriate lens and treatment strategy.

Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery

For selected patients, laser technology may assist portions of the procedure, offering another level of precision and customization.

Premium Intraocular Lens (IOL) Options

During cataract surgery, the cloudy natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens, or IOL. Today’s advanced lens technologies provide more options than ever before and may help patients achieve goals such as:

• Reduced dependence on glasses

• Improved near, intermediate, and distance vision

• Better visual performance for reading and computer work

• Correction of astigmatism at the time of surgery

• Greater visual freedom for active lifestyles

Customized Treatment Planning

Technology alone does not create personalized care. One of the most important parts of modern cataract surgery is the conversation between surgeon and patient. Understanding daily routines—whether spending hours on a computer, enjoying golf, reading, traveling, exercising, or driving at night—helps guide treatment decisions and establish realistic expectations.

Choosing the Right Cataract Surgeon

As cataract surgery becomes increasingly advanced, selecting the right surgeon becomes an equally important part of the process. When evaluating your options:

• Research the surgeon’s education and board certification

• Consider experience with advanced technologies and personalized treatment planning

• Ask about available diagnostic equipment and premium lens options

• Read patient reviews and learn about others’ experiences

• Visit the practice website to understand the surgeon’s philosophy and approach to care

The consultation experience itself can also be informative. A surgeon who takes time to understand your visual priorities and explain available options often reflects a more individualized approach.

The Bottom Line

Cataract surgery today is no longer solely about removing a cloudy lens—it is about creating vision that supports the life patients want to live. Personalized cataract surgery represents a new era in eye care: one that combines advanced technology with individualized planning to deliver outcomes centered not just on clearer sight, but on better living.
