CAN’T MISS!
By Riesa Pascal-Porro
Ever since Disney World first opened its doors in 1971, the city of Orlando has been synonymous with family vacations and worldfamous attractions. More than five decades later, the destination has maintained its tourism charm while simultaneously evolving to meet the expectations of a new class of travelers. Beyond the attractions, luxury-seeking visitors will find five-star resorts, MICHELINrecognized dining, exclusive VIP experiences and world-class wellness offerings that seamlessly blend entertainment with refinement. Continue reading to learn how Orlando's attractions area offers a premium escape that extends well beyond the theme park gates.
Across Orlando, a mix of both long-standing and new high-end resorts are redefining what it means to experience the destination. They are proving that a hotel is no longer just where you sleep between park visits. In fact, the best hotels can often become the main destination themselves. From private water parks and championship golf courses to award-winning dining and exclusive guest amenities, many of Orlando’s premier resorts offer experiences magical enough to rival the attractions surrounding them.
Leading the way is Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. Widely regarded as the city’s flagship luxury property and located directly inside the gates of Walt Disney World, this five-star resort combines flawless service with exceptional amenities that include a five-acre water park, a Tom Fazio signature golf course, and rooftop dining at their MICHELIN-starred steakhouse Capa. Guests can even enjoy views of Disney’s famed fireworks directly from select rooms and suites. Also located within the exclusive gates of Walt Disney World is Waldorf Astoria Orlando. This beloved resort is where contemporary luxury meets timeless elegance with sophisticated accommodations, a championship golf course and acclaimed Bull & Bear restaurant all of which have made Waldorf Astoria Orlando a known favorite among travelers. Hotel guests also enjoy exclusive attraction benefits including early theme park entry and luxurious motorcoach transportation.
It’s not just these staples that are leading the way when it comes to where to stay. In recent years, newer additions have further expanded Orlando's upscale accommodations portfolio. Evermore Orlando Resort showcases Orlando's only private 20-acre white sand beach and is enveloped within
two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses. Meanwhile, Universal Helios Grand Hotel has quickly become one of the most soughtafter accommodations for visitors exploring Universal's Epic Universe with premium accommodations and unrivaled proximity to the new theme park. Those seeking a more secluded retreat will find rest and relaxation at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes which offers a tranquil 500-acre oasis complete with championship golf, exceptional dining and resort-style recreation just a short drive from the major attractions. Together, these exceptional properties help illustrate how the resort experience can easily become every bit as memorable as the attractions waiting beyond the gates.
While Orlando may be best known for its world-famous attractions, the destination has matured far beyond theme-park food to become one of Florida's most exciting culinary hot spots. Today, the city boasts more than 60 restaurants recognized by the MICHELIN Guide, including 41 MICHELIN-Recommended restaurants, 14 Bib Gourmand establishments, and six MICHELIN-starred restaurants. At the pinnacle is Sorekara, Orlando's acclaimed two-MICHELIN-star restaurant and one of only two restaurants in Florida to hold the prestigious distinction. The city's numerous MICHELIN recognitions reflect the remarkable diversity and sophistication of its dining scene which extends far beyond a single genre of food. Visitors can discover everything from contemporary tasting menus and elegant steakhouse experiences to inventive Latin American, Mediterranean and modern American concepts. Complementing this dining scene are numerous beverage experiences such as sommelier-led wine pairings, exclusive chef’s table dinners and VIP wine tastings.
For travelers staying near the attractions, one of the most celebrated dining locations is Restaurant Row. Located along Sand Lake Road just minutes from International Drive, this renowned strip has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike as it offers an impressive collection of upscale and casual restaurants in a convenient setting. From upscale Italian fare at Christini’s Ristorante Italiano to chef-curated fine dining at Vines and everything in between, Restaurant Row delivers a diverse mix of flavors and experiences that showcase the wide breadth of Orlando's culinary scene. The city’s many beloved dining districts, along with their MICHELIN-recognized restaurants, consistently draw in travelers eager to experience Orlando through its vibrant and ever-evolving food culture.
Experiencing the Attractions as a VIP
Luxury vacationing in Orlando isn't necessarily about avoiding the attractions… it's about experiencing them from a level of convenience and exclusivity unavailable through traditional park admission. For the average traveler, a day at a theme park means navigating long lines, crowded walkways, and tight itineraries. However, we encourage travelers seeking a more elevated experience to take advantage of exclusive VIP programs offered by many of Orlando's premier attractions. At Walt Disney World Resort, Private VIP Tours provide guests with a dedicated guide who handles the details from start to finish. Customized itineraries allow visitors to prioritize their favorite attractions with expedited access that minimizes time spent in queues.
Universal Orlando Resort offers a similarly elevated experience through its Private VIP Experience. These guests enjoy frontof-the-line access to attractions, a friendly and knowledgeable guide, behind-the-

scenes moments, and other exclusive perks throughout their parks. The appeal of these VIP experiences is simply more time spent enjoying the attractions and less time waiting. In a city known for creating unforgettable experiences, VIP attraction access offers the most valuable amenity of all: the freedom to experience Orlando on your own terms.
While Orlando's world-renowned attractions remain the centerpiece of most visits, many travelers are discovering that some of the destination's most memorable experiences take place beyond the theme park gates. Rather than racing from one ride to the next, visitors are increasingly choosing to balance the excitement of the parks with experiences designed around comfort, exclusivity and personalized service where adventure and relaxation can exist side-by-side. For many travelers, these experiences provide the perfect complement to Orlando's attractions by offering opportunities to slow down, explore and enjoy a different side of the destination.
For golf enthusiasts, championship courses designed by some of the sport's most respected players provide a welcome change of pace between park visits. Others may prefer personalized shopping appointments and choose to spend the day browsing over 160 stores from the world's finest luxury designers and name brands at Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets. Some visitors might opt to take to the skies for a different perspective
of the City Beautiful. Throughout Orlando and especially near the International Drive area, private helicopter tours like Orlando HeliTours offer breathtaking aerial views of Orlando's iconic attractions and surrounding landscapes. Back on the ground, private airboat excursions and sunset cruises provide a more intimate look at Florida's natural beauty away from the hustle and bustle of theme park crowds. Together, these unique experiences reveal a side of Orlando that many visitors never see… one where worldclass attractions are complemented by equally impressive opportunities to relax, recharge and indulge.
In a destination known for nonstop excitement, travelers are increasingly discovering the value of slowing down. While Orlando's attractions continue to draw visitors from around the world, the city's growing collection of wellness experiences offers a welcome alternative to long days spent exploring theme parks. Instead, tourists and locals alike are increasingly embracing itineraries that pair high-energy days at the attractions with intentional moments of rest and relaxation as well. Many of Orlando's premier resorts offer top-rated pampering services perfectly designed to meet this need. At Four Seasons Resort Orlando, guests can retreat to the adults-only Oasis Pool featuring an infinity-edge, underwater music, adjacent whirlpools, and premium services including private cabana rentals and attentive

poolside dining. Nearby, the Waldorf Astoria Spa Orlando offers an extensive menu of treatments designed to create an elevated state of rejuvenation and renewal. Meanwhile, the Ritz-Carlton Spa Orlando, Grande Lakes has earned a reputation as one of Central Florida's most luxurious wellness destinations to restore both body and mind.
Experiences centered on recovery have become particularly popular among guests looking to recharge after long days on their feet at the parks. Therapeutic massages, hydrotherapy treatments and personalized wellness services provide an opportunity to unwind and reset before the next day's adventures. Many of these same resorts have also expanded their physical fitness offerings with guided yoga sessions, state-ofthe-art fitness centers and outdoor wellness programming that helps travelers maintain their routines while away from home. These new wellness experiences reveal a broader evolution within the city. Orlando is no longer just a place to seek theme park thrills. It has become a coveted destination to recharge and reconnect. For some, the perfect day might include a morning exploring one of our worldclass theme parks followed by a refreshing afternoon spent poolside, in a spa treatment room or simply enjoying the comfort of an opulent resort. It's this balance of excitement and indulgence that has transformed Orlando into a destination where luxury experiences extend far beyond the parks.

Runway to Hope's 14th Annual Spring Soirée, held on May 16th, at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, was a dazzling night of courage and community. Over 2,500 guests celebrated more than 100 brave pediatric cancer warriors who lit up the runway with celebrity escorts. Hosted by Derek Hough, the evening featured an elegant dinner, exciting silent and live auctions, and raised vital local funds to support families battling childhood cancer. Hearts were full and hope shone bright!

By Josie NeJame | Photo by Lotus
For the past two years, Derek Hough has stood alongside some of Central Florida's bravest children. Through his involvement with Runway to Hope's Spring Soirée, the Emmy Award-winning dancer, choreographer, and entertainer has witnessed firsthand the courage of pediatric cancer patients and their families. Yet what continues to inspire him isn't simply what they've endured, it's how they face each day. "They don't inspire people because of what they've gone through," Hough tells Orlando Style. "They inspire people because of how they choose to move through it.” It is a lesson that feels especially meaningful today.
Since first joining the Runway to Hope family in 2025 and returning again to support and host in 2026, Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert Hough, have experienced profound challenges and extraordinary blessings of their own. Following Hayley's life-threatening medical emergency and remarkable recovery, the couple welcomed their daughter, Everley Capri Hough, in December 2025. The couple have lovingly described Everley as their "rainbow after the storm," a symbol of hope following one of the most challenging chapters of their lives. "When I look at her, I'm reminded of everything we've been through and how precious life really is," Hough says. "She brings so much joy and perspective to our lives, and we're grateful for her every day.”
Today, that journey of resilience serves as the emotional heartbeat behind both Hough's acclaimed documentary Symphony of Dance and his latest live production, Symphony of Dance: Encore, which arrives at Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts on August 7. Directed by Jason Bergh, the documentary takes audiences behind the scenes of Derek and Hayley's celebrated tour while documenting Hayley's recovery and inspiring return to the stage. The live production expands upon that story, combining world-class choreography with themes of perseverance, gratitude, family, and hope.
For Hough, this season of life has brought a renewed appreciation for the present moment. "It has taught me to slow down and appreciate the moment I'm in," he shares. "Watching Hayley fight her way back and becoming a dad has shown me that life's greatest gifts are often the things we can so easily take for granted.” That perspective has also deepened his connection to the families he meets through Runway to Hope. "Going through our own challenges gave me a deeper understanding of what it means to hold onto hope when things feel uncertain," he says. "It's made me appreciate even more the strength these families show every single day."
As Hough prepares to return to Orlando this summer, audiences can expect far more than a traditional dance performance. "I hope they leave feeling inspired, energized, and maybe even a little transformed," he says. "This show is more than just dance. It's a celebration of life, resilience, love, and human connection.” Filled with breathtaking choreography, live storytelling, humor, emotion, and extraordinary talent, Symphony of Dance: Encore reflects not only Hough's artistry but also the personal journey that has shaped him over the last several years.
For a performer whose career has been defined by movement, perhaps his most inspiring journey has been learning how to move forward through life's greatest challenges and discovering even greater reasons to dance on the other side.
Josie: What has stayed with you most about the children and families you've met through Runway to Hope?
Derek: "Honestly, what stays with me most is how deeply moved I am every time I'm here. You meet these incredible children and families who are facing challenges most of us can't even imagine, and yet they show up with so much courage, positivity, and joy. Every year I leave feeling grateful, inspired, and reminded of what truly matters in life."
Josie: Has your own family's journey changed the way you connect with families facing difficult circumstances?
Derek: "Without a doubt. Going through our own challenges gave me a deeper understanding of what it means to hold onto hope when things feel uncertain. It's made me appreciate even more the strength these families show every single day."
Josie: You and Hayley have described Everley as your "rainbow after the storm." What emotions come with looking at your daughter?
Derek: "It's pure gratitude. When I look at her, I'm reminded of everything we've been through and how precious life really is. She brings so much joy and perspective to our lives, and we're grateful for her every day."
Josie: What do you hope Everley takes away from your family's story one day?
Derek: "I hope she sees how extraordinary her mom is. I hope she sees what courage, resilience, and determination look like. And I hope she understands that even in life's hardest moments, love can carry you through."
Josie: What do you hope audiences experience when they attend Symphony of Dance: Encore?
Derek: "I hope they leave feeling inspired, energized, and maybe even a little transformed. This show is more than just dance. It's a celebration of life, resilience, love, and human connection."

A house under construction is often mistaken for something incomplete. But incompletion is not weakness. It is evidence of evolution.
This editorial explores the quiet paradox between architecture and identity, the undeniable truth that the most extraordinary things are never truly finished. Not a home. Not a vision. Not a woman.
Set inside the exposed framework of the Heritage Collection by Valios, Dianna Desboyaux inhabits a space suspended between blueprint and realization. The walls are unfinished. The structure remains exposed. Yet within that rawness exists intention, precision, and future permanence.

And perhaps that is where the deepest beauty lives: not in arrival, but in becoming.
The unfinished home becomes a metaphor for personal evolution itself. Every beam represents discipline. Every exposed line reflects vulnerability. Every empty room holds the tension of possibility. The structure is still forming — much like the woman standing within it.

In a culture obsessed with polished outcomes, this story embraces something more intellectually honest: transformation is continuous. Growth is architectural. Reinvention is a lifelong construction project. The contrast throughout the editorial is deliberate. Structured couture against unfinished timber. Monochromatic elegance interrupting raw geometry. Soft femininity coexisting with strength, calculation, and
vision. The imagery refuses to portray luxury as effortless. Instead, it presents luxury as intentional — built through resilience, refinement, and constant reconstruction of self.
For Dianna Desboyaux, the concept is deeply personal. Success is not a static identity one achieves and preserves. It is a living structure requiring reinvention, adaptation, and

expansion. The woman who builds a career, a reputation, a vision, and a life must also continuously rebuild herself alongside it.
That is the paradox.
The more elevated the exterior becomes, the more internal construction is required to sustain it.

Within these unfinished interiors, Desboyaux is not simply modeling fashion or presenting real estate. She is embodying evolution itself — poised between who she has been and who she is still becoming.
Because the most powerful people are rarely finished products. They are individuals courageous enough to remain under construction.

"As the days grow longer and summer begins to peak, consider this your invitation to nourish deeply, and hydrate - feeling restored, radiant, and rejuvenated for an ultimate glow up."
By Maha Chaudhry
As the seasons shift here in Florida, so do the needs of our skin, body, and energy. As we give way to summer’s warmth, this season invites us to recalibrate.
With longer days and rising temperatures, hydration, nourishment, and simplicity become essential. The good news? Some of the best beauty and wellness remedies can be created right at home, using natural ingredients that support both inner balance and outer glow.
Here are a few holistic rituals to help you find your summer glow.
A warm herbal infusion can do more than hydrate—it can support digestion, reduce bloating, and help the body feel lighter as temperatures rise.
Steep fresh mint leaves, sliced ginger, and dandelion tea in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Finish with a squeeze of lemon. This simple blend supports liver function, soothes the digestive system, and offers a refreshing, grounding ritual to start or end your day.
Mix one tablespoon of raw honey (manuka is my choice) with a pinch of turmeric and a spoonful of plain yogurt. Apply for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. This combination hydrates, soothes inflammation, and gently exfoliates, revealing brighter, smoother skin.
Turmeric alone has been an ancient beauty staple in South Asia, and is one of the main pre-wedding beauty remedies.
Cool, Calm, Restore
With more time spent outdoors, skin can become sensitized by sun and heat. Cooling ingredients help restore balance. Blend fresh cucumber with aloe vera gel and apply as a mask or light daily layer. This simple remedy refreshes the skin and
is especially effective after sun exposure. Aloe vera also has antibacterial properties that beneficial for wound healing and dental care (another plus).
An evening reset can be as simple as slowing down. Add Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender oil to a warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes to relax the body and calm the nervous system. This is especially soothing on days you feel additionally stressed, as its great for reducing cortisol levels.
Gift your skin with a gentle exfoliation for renewed skin.
Combine mashed strawberry, sugar, and a touch of coconut oil. Gently massage onto lips or skin, then rinse. This blend is great at removing dry skin while simultaneously nourishing a mid-summer glow.
Radiance always begins from within. A small daily wellness shot can support immunity and energy levels as you move into a more active season.
Blend fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, and honey. I prefer taking this wellness shot first in the morning. This combo is another rich anti-inflammatory and immune-supporting mix, helping you feel vibrant inside-out.
As the days grow longer and summer begins to peak, consider this your invitation to nourish deeply and hydratefeeling restored, radiant, and rejuvenated for an ultimate glow up.
Note: all skin types are different and some may be more prone to sensitivity. Please consult an expert or dermatologist for specific skin concerns or conditions.

CLAUDIA GUTIERREZ
By Maha Chaudhry
Maha: Before fashion, who was Claudia? Tell me about yourself. What experiences shaped you the most growing up?
Claudia: Before fashion, I was a young woman growing up in Bogotá, Colombia, with my two sisters, one of whom is my identical twin. Growing up surrounded by strong, hardworking women taught me resilience, independence, and determination. My sisters have always inspired me, and my twin has been one of my biggest supporters, encouraging me to pursue my dreams and believe in my creativity.
From a young age, I was drawn to creating. I was constantly observing the world around me and finding inspiration in the energy, culture, and beauty of the city. Those experiences, combined with the support of my family, shaped my perspective and gave me the confidence to build something of my own.
Maha: It sounds like creativity was always part of who you were. What is the story behind how your journey into fashion first began?
Claudia: My journey into fashion began with a love for creating. From a young age, I was always drawn to making things with my hands and bringing ideas to life. When I learned how to sew, it opened up a new world for me. I loved the process of taking an idea and transforming it into something tangible and meaningful.
F rom Bogotá, Colombia, to building her own fashion brand in Central Florida, Claudia Gutierrez's journey has been one of creativity, resilience, and purpose. As she prepares for the next chapter of her growing business, we caught up with Claudia to discuss her path into fashion, the inspiration behind her designs, and the impact she hopes to make through her work.
Fashion became more than just clothing. It became a way for me to express myself, tell stories, and connect with others. What started as a creative passion quickly grew into something much bigger as I realized I could use fashion to inspire confidence and help people feel their best.
Maha: While fashion started as a creative passion, your brand was ultimately born from a much deeper personal experience. Was there a pivotal moment in your life that pushed you to take the leap and create something of your own?
Claudia: The most impactful moment in my life, and at the same time my greatest motivation, was when my son was diagnosed with cancer from one day to the next.
Amid the pain, uncertainty, and all the emotions we experienced as a family, I realized that I needed to step out of my comfort zone and make decisions that would transform our future. That experience made me understand that a traditional job, with fixed schedules and routines, was far from the life I wanted for myself and, most importantly, for my son's well-being.
That experience challenged me to believe in myself, dream bigger, and create something of my own. That is how my brand was born: from love, resilience, and a determination to make a positive impact.
Everything I do today has a deeper purpose. My story, the challenges I faced, and the love I have for my son became the driving force that shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today.
Maha: Thank you for sharing that. It's clear that your journey is rooted in resilience and purpose. How have those experiences influenced your style, design aesthetic, and the types of pieces you create today?
Claudia: I draw inspiration from women who are strong, confident, and real—women who don't need permission to take up space.
My style is clean, powerful, and feminine with intention. I love pieces that feel elegant but still have strength in them—silhouettes that move with confidence and presence.
I create designs that empower women to feel bold, elevated, and effortless at the same time.
Maha: Beyond the designs themselves, what message or feeling do you hope women take away when they wear your pieces?
Claudia: I want women to feel powerful. Not because of what they're wearing, but because the piece reminds them of who they already are.
I want my designs to reflect confidence, elegance, and authenticity. Every woman deserves to feel seen, beautiful, and comfortable in her own skin.
For me, fashion is more than clothing. It's a way to express who we are without saying a word. If one of my designs helps a woman feel more confident when she walks into a room, then I've done my job.
Maha: Since launching your brand, how has this journey changed you personally and professionally?
Claudia: Fashion has changed my life in ways I never imagined. It has given me the opportunity to express my creativity, inspire other women, and build something meaningful from my own experiences.
This journey has taught me resilience, confidence, and the importance of believing in myself even during difficult times. Through fashion, I discovered that clothing is more than just what we wear—it is a way to tell a story, empower people, and help them feel confident and beautiful.
Most importantly, it has allowed me to create a life with purpose, turning challenges into motivation and passion into a brand that reflects who I am and what I stand for.
Maha: You've spoken about fashion as a tool for empowerment. Was there a particular moment along the way when you realized this was exactly what you were meant to do?
Claudia: There wasn't one single moment, but several experiences that confirmed I was on the right path. One of the most meaningful was collaborating with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a project that impacted more than 50 women. Seeing them gain confidence, reconnect with their identity, and discover a new sense of self made me realize my work was about much more than designing clothing.
In that moment, I understood that fashion has the power to create meaningful change. It can help women feel seen, confident, and empowered. That experience reinforced my purpose and showed me that my mission is not only to create beautiful pieces, but to inspire women to embrace who they are and step into their full potential.
Maha: Your story is one of determination through difficult circumstances. What do you hope your brand and your journey represent for women who may be facing challenges or uncertain seasons in their own lives?
Claudia: I hope my story reminds women that challenges don't define them.
Life isn't always easy, and success is rarely a straight line. What matters is continuing to move forward, even when things are difficult.
If my journey can inspire someone to keep believing in themselves, start over, or keep chasing a dream they've almost given up on, then sharing my story is worth it.
Maha: Looking ahead, what's next for the brand, and what legacy do you ultimately hope to leave behind?
Claudia: My vision is to continue growing the brand while staying true to its purpose.
One of the most exciting milestones ahead is the opening of my own boutique in Thornton Park, just a few weeks from now. I am creating a unique shopping concept that brings together the best of local fashion talent alongside carefully selected international brands. More than a store, I want it to be a destination where women can discover their personal style, feel inspired, and enjoy a meaningful shopping experience.
As for the impact I hope to leave behind, I want to be remembered not only for the designs I created, but for the women I empowered along the way. If my work helps women believe in themselves, embrace their individuality, and pursue their dreams with confidence, then I will know I have fulfilled my purpose.
With a new boutique on the horizon and a growing brand rooted in purpose, Claudia Gutierrez is continuing to make her markone design at a time.

Fashion, wellness, and luxury lifestyle converged as Florida Fashion Shows Swim Week returned to the city, transforming some of Orlando's most sought-after venues into destinations for runway moments, wellness experiences, and resort-inspired living. What unfolded went beyond just a fashion event. It was a celebration of the modern lifestyle movement shaping how people travel, connect, and experience luxury today.
The weekend attracted a mix of designers, entrepreneurs, creatives, influencers, and tastemakers, all gathering around a shared appreciation for style that extends beyond what we wear. From curated fashion presentations to wellness-focused programming and elevated social experiences, Swim Week reflected a growing appetite for experiences that blend fashion, hospitality, and wellbeing.
Friday evening opened with runway presentations from Orlando designer Claudia Gutierrez and Colombian designer Naiduth Geles, whose collections brought a balance of sophistication, femininity, and effortless wearability to the catwalk. Against a backdrop of rooftop views overlooking downtown Orlando, the evening set an elegant tone for the weekend ahead while showcasing both local talent and international influence. Guests dressed in a palette of soft whites, creams, and warm neutrals further elevated the sophisticated atmosphere.
Saturday's Wellness Edit at Lake Nona's Wave Hotel embraced a different kind of luxury experience. Guests moved through yoga, Pilates, and wellness activations, including cold plunges, while exploring the growing connection between beauty, movement, recovery, and self-care. Conversations centered around longevity, confidence, and
modern wellness, reinforcing the idea that today's luxury experience extends far beyond fashion alone.
The weekend culminated in a Mediterraneaninspired finale that felt worlds away from Central Florida. Resort fashion, curated shopping experiences, and thoughtfully designed activations created an atmosphere reminiscent of a summer escape along the French Riviera. Guests mingled with designers and brands throughout the experience, including internationally recognized Colombian label Agua Bendita, local designer Priscilla Sachiko's PRANA Collection, Stephanie Stegman, and Naiduth Geles, among others, who connected directly with attendees through immersive vendor experiences. Guests also enjoyed activations from Dios Mío Coffee, with attendees taking home bags of the brand's signature coffee throughout the weekend.
The final runway presentation brought the weekend to a stylish close, featuring Colombian fashion brand TNS before Sea Salt by Laura Tobón delivered a collection that embodied contemporary resort glamour with its elevated coastal aesthetic and effortless sophistication.
One of the most compelling aspects of Swim Week was its ability to bring together a diverse community of fashion, wellness, and lifestyle leaders from across Florida and Latin America. The event highlighted Orlando's growing role as a destination for globally inspired experiences while creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration between creatives, brands, and entrepreneurs.
Founded by Nayrouz Olarte, Florida Fashion Shows continues to carve out a unique space within the region's luxury landscape. By

Florida may be known as the Sunshine State, but cultivating a little sunshine in our own lives takes more than blue skies and beach days.
The truth is, how we feel each day is shaped less by big moments and more by the small choices we make daily, like the way we move, sleep, think, connect, and spend our time. Research suggests these daily habits influence not only our mood, but also our focus, memory, resilience, energy levels, and overall wellbeing. Think of it as adding a little sunshine to your soul.
Most of us know exercise is good for our bodies. What many people don’t realize is that it’s also one of the best things we can do for our brains.
In his bestselling book Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain, psychiatrist John Ratey famously described exercise as “Miracle-Gro for the brain.” Regular movement has been linked to improved mood, sharper focus, stronger memory, and reduced stress.
The best part? You don’t need to train for a marathon. A morning walk, bike ride, pickleball match, or sunset stroll all count. As Dan Buettner found in his Blue Zones research, some of the world’s longest-living communities simply make movement a natural part of daily life.
In a culture that celebrates busyness, sleep is often the first thing sacrificed.
Yet according to neuroscientist Matthew Walker, author of Why We Sleep, quality sleep plays a critical role in learning, memory, emotional regulation, creativity, and overall health.
Think of sleep as your brain’s overnight housekeeping service. While you’re resting, your body and mind are busy repairing, processing, and preparing for the day ahead.
If you’ve ever felt irritable, forgetful, or unable to concentrate after a poor night’s sleep, you’ve experienced firsthand how closely our well-being is tied to rest. Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply go to bed a little earlier.
Curate What You Consume
We pay attention to what we put on our plates, but how often do we think about what we’re feeding our minds?
From social media and breaking news to podcasts and endless notifications, we’re constantly consuming information. Some of it inspires us. Some of it drains us.
More than a century ago, James Allen wrote in As a Man Thinketh, “A man is literally what he thinks.” While modern science may phrase it differently, the principle remains relevant: our thoughts influence our attitudes, behaviors, and outlook on life.
Similarly, Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* reminds us that our energy is finite. One of the healthiest things we can do is become more selective about what deserves our attention.
A simple question to ask yourself: Is this deserving of my attention, or merely demanding it?
Summer can be a wonderful opportunity to swap a little screen time for sunshine time, a little noise for reflection, and a little distraction for presence.
Invest in Relationships
If there is one thing researchers consistently agree on, it’s that relationships matter. The Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest-running studies on wellbeing, found that strong relationships are among the greatest predictors of a healthy and fulfilling life. As study director Robert Waldinger famously said, “Good relationships keep us healthier and happier.”
Whether it’s dinner with friends, a family gathering, a coffee date, or a phone call you’ve been meaning to make, meaningful connection nourishes us in ways technology never can.
In a world that often feels increasingly digital, making time for real conversations may be one of the most powerful wellness practices available.
And, don’t Forget to Look Up
A colorful sunset. A summer thunderstorm. The sound of waves meeting the shore.
Researchers studying awe: the feeling of wonder we experience when encountering something larger than ourselves, have found that these moments can reduce stress and increase feelings of connection and well-being.
In Florida, opportunities for awe are everywhere. The challenge isn’t finding them. It’s slowing down long enough to notice.
A Sunshine State of Mind isn’t about being happy all the time. It’s about creating habits that support a healthy mind, a strong body, and a resilient spirit. This summer, consider it an invitation to soak up a little more sunshine, and not just from Florida’s skies, but from the routines, relationships, and rituals that help you feel your best.

In a bold leap into the realm of hyper-exclusive motoring, Audi has introduced the Nuvolari, its first-ever production supercar boasting a highperformance hybrid powertrain. Limited to just 499 units with deliveries slated for the first half of 2027, this mid-engine masterpiece promises to be the fastest and most powerful vehicle in the brand’s storied history. With a staggering 1,001 PS (736 kW) system output and a top speed exceeding 350 km/h, the Nuvolari isn’t just an evolution—it’s a revolution inspired by Formula 1 precision.
Unveiled amid the sun-drenched backdrop of Antibes and Ingolstadt on June 4, 2026, the Nuvolari accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering 2.6 seconds and hits 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. These figures stem from a sophisticated hybrid setup: a thunderous 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine producing 800 hp and 730 Nm of torque—revving to an exhilarating 10,000 rpm—paired with three axial-flux electric motors. Two motors up front deliver massive torque vectoring, while a third sits between the engine and
transmission. A compact 7.3 kWh lithiumion battery completes the electrified arsenal, enabling short-distance electric driving in E-Hybrid mode.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner captured the ambition perfectly: “With the Audi Nuvolari, we are accelerating technological progress, focusing on technology, performance, and execution through teamwork.” CTO Rouven Mohr echoed the sentiment, crediting Formula 1 as a key catalyst for rapidly translating track innovations to the road.
As the first production car to embody Audi’s new design philosophy, the Nuvolari fuses supercar aggression with sleek, monolithic proportions. The mid-engine layout creates a powerful stance, while taut surfaces and seamless tech integration define its silhouette. Finished in the signature Titanium paint— shared with the Concept C and F1 racer—

and accented by carbon-fiber elements, it exudes precision and menace. Nearly all exterior panels utilize carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), crafted via prepreg autoclave technology honed in motorsport. This yields lightweight strength and complex aerodynamic forms, including an S-duct front end.
Beyond raw power, the Nuvolari elevates dynamics with the groundbreaking quattro predictive ride system. It processes realtime data—steering angle, yaw rate, grip levels—to proactively distribute torque, apply brakes, and adjust aero for unmatched stability, even in wet or slippery conditions. Drivers select from E-Hybrid, Balanced, Dynamic, Dynamic+, and Track modes, with the latter offering fine-tuned traction control from Wet to TC Off.
Active aerodynamics, refined with input from Audi’s F1 drivers, take center stage. A deployable rear wing adapts across Closed, Low Downforce, and High Downforce positions, generating over 400 kg of downforce when needed. A manual Drag Reduction System (DRS) button unlocks extra top speed on straights, mirroring F1 tactics.
The lightweight Audi Space Frame with full carbon exterior ensures razor-sharp handling, while the advanced braking system—featuring massive carbon-ceramic discs, ten-piston calipers, and hybrid recuperation—delivers F1-level stopping power without fade.
Driver-Focused Interior
Inside, the Nuvolari prioritizes the thrill of driving. A minimalist cockpit places controls within easy reach, with digital displays and physical switches delivering intuitive feedback. Dark tones up front promote focus, contrasting with lighter Shadow Dune accents
rearward. Carbon-fiber bucket seats offer supreme support, while aluminum details and nods to the 1930s Auto Union racers add heritage flair.
Named after legendary Italian driver Tazio Nuvolari—celebrated for his fearless ingenuity—the supercar embodies that same relentless pursuit of victory. For U.S. enthusiasts, note that this is currently a European pre-production prototype; final specs, pricing, and EPA figures will follow in a future announcement.
In an era where electrification meets uncompromised performance, the Audi Nuvolari stands as a halo for the four rings. With its blend of hybrid innovation, aerodynamic mastery, and exquisite craftsmanship, it’s poised to captivate collectors and thrill-seekers alike. As Orlando’s luxury scene continues to evolve, this is one machine that demands attention— on the page, on the track, and in the driveway.

In 1990, Florida became the only state to differentiate medical malpractice from other types of wrongful death by including an exception in its medical-malpractice laws that severely limited families from pursuing damages in lawsuits when deaths are caused as a result of medical error.
To illustrate the difference, we can compare cases when death is caused by motor vehicle negligence to cases when death is caused by medical malpractice.
Take a 40-year-old son whose unmarried mother is killed when another driver runs a red light and crashes into the mother. The son is eligible to recover damages from the negligent driver.
Take another 40-year-old son whose unmarried mother is killed when hospital physicians fail to appreciate that the mother is experiencing a heart attack, misdiagnose her as having a chest cold, and discharge her home to die. The son is NOT eligible to recover damages from the negligent hospital physicians.
This difference in Florida law provides medical professionals with significant insulation and much greater protection than is
otherwise provided to others whose negligence has caused wrongful death. Many critics have named this law the “free kill” statute.
When it was passed, lawmakers and medical industry professionals believed without this limitation, medical malpractice premiums would soar and push physicians to shut down their practices or even move out of the state, thus reducing healthcare access for state residents.
But if this were true, how come all the other states have yet to adopt this law?
After decades of challenges against this law, in early 2025, a proposal was presented to committees to repeal the “free kill” statute. This initiative was sponsored by Representative Dana Trabulsy of Fort Pierce. During the committee process, supporters of the repeal shared heartbreaking and emotional stories of losing loved ones with no legal recourse under the current law.
After swiftly clearing with committee approval, HB 6017 was formally presented in the Florida legislature to eliminate the “free kill” law. During the 2025 spring legislative session, the bill overwhelmingly passed both chambers
(the Florida House of Representatives AND the Florida Senate) and would allow adult children over 25 and the parents of adult children to seek non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering, when a family member dies due to medical negligence and is unmarried with no minor children.
On May 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM, the bill was signed by Officers and presented to Governor DeSantis.
Unfortunately, on May 29, 2025, at 4:48 PM, Governor DeSantis vetoed this legislation that would have repealed the 35-year-old legal provision preventing many families from suing for the wrongful death of loved ones due to medical malpractice.
While this law only applies in Florida, we do still have exceptional physicians in the state. And while some of them are listed in this issue, it’s important to always do your research, look for board certifications and seek out the quality physicians specialized in your needed surgeries and operations.

As an investor, you likely have some ambitious financial goals: perhaps funding college for your kids, a vacation home or some extended travels, and, most importantly, a comfortable retirement. But your progress toward these long-term objectives can be slowed considerably by short-term financial needs — and that’s why an emergency fund is crucial.
What type of short-term financial needs might you encounter? A new furnace, a new roof, your car’s transmission, your kid’s braces — the list goes on and on. And if your normal cash flow isn’t enough to meet these expenses, you may be forced to dip into your IRA, 401(k), brokerage accounts or other investment vehicles. By doing so, you might incur fees, penalties and taxes — especially if you withdraw from tax-deferred accounts that are designed to help you save for retirement.
But by tapping into these investments, you would also incur an even bigger cost — the opportunity cost. That is, by taking money out of these vehicles, you would decrease their value today — and thereby end up with a smaller platform for tomorrow’s growth opportunities.
Of course, people who “borrow” from their long-term investments to pay for short-term needs promise themselves that they’ll quickly repay these accounts. But that’s not the easiest promise to keep, given the day-to-day expenses we all face.
Consequently, to help protect your long-term investments and allow them as much growth potential as possible, you should set up an emergency fund containing six to 12 months’ worth of living expenses. (Generally speaking, the closer you are to retirement, the larger the emergency fund you’ll need.)
When you create an emergency fund, the key word to remember is liquidity. You need a fund that gives you immediate, penaltyfree access to your money. You probably already have that type of liquidity in your regular checking and savings accounts, but it’s best to keep your emergency fund in a
separate vehicle – one that you won’t touch for everyday expenses. For example, a money market account. The point isn’t to earn a return; it’s to protect your principal from market volatility and to be easily and quickly accessible for withdrawals.
Six to 12 months’ worth of living expenses might sound like a lot to put away, and it can be if you try to do it all at once. Instead, strive to build your emergency fund gradually by contributing whatever you can afford each month. To help yourself along, you may want to have money automatically moved from your checking account to your emergency fund.
You might be pleasantly surprised to see how quickly your account can grow. And once you have a solid emergency fund established, you’ll be able to face unexpected expenses with more confidence (and hopefully less stress) than before. Best of all, you’ll avoid draining your long-term investments — which means one less hurdle on the road to achieving your financial goals.

For decades, cataract surgery was viewed as a straightforward procedure: remove the cloudy lens and restore sight. While that remains the foundation of treatment, modern cataract care has evolved into something far more sophisticated. Today, advances in diagnostic technology, surgical precision, and lens design allow surgeons to move beyond simply removing cataracts and toward creating a visual outcome tailored to each individual.

This evolution has given rise to Personalized Cataract Surgery—an approach that recognizes that vision is not one-size-fits-all.
Personalized cataract surgery is a customized approach to cataract treatment in which surgical planning, technology, and lens implant selection are tailored to each patient’s unique eyes, lifestyle, and long-term vision goals. Rather than applying a standard solution to every patient, modern cataract care seeks to align surgical decisions with how each person wants to see and live after surgery. Because vision influences nearly every aspect of daily life—from reading and working to traveling, exercising, and spending time with family— today’s cataract surgery increasingly focuses not only on restoring clarity but on improving quality of life.
A cataract develops when the eye’s natural lens gradually becomes cloudy, leading to symptoms such as blurred vision, glare, faded colors, difficulty reading, and challenges with night driving.
Today’s cataract surgery does far more than remove that cloudy lens. For many patients, surgery presents an opportunity to improve overall visual quality and align vision with personal priorities. Advances in surgical planning and lens technology now allow treatment to be designed around real-life visual needs.
For one patient, success may mean reading a favorite novel without reaching for glasses. For another, it may mean sharper distance vision for golf, travel, or an active lifestyle. Someone else may prioritize reduced glare and greater confidence while driving after sunset. Others may hope to improve computer vision or reduce dependence on corrective lenses.
Every patient’s goals are different—and personalized cataract surgery embraces those differences.
No two eyes are exactly alike. Corneal shape, the presence of astigmatism, visual habits, occupational demands, and expectations after surgery all influence treatment planning. A personalized approach may include:
Modern imaging and measurement technologies provide highly detailed information about the eye before surgery. These measurements allow surgeons to better evaluate eye anatomy and select the most appropriate lens and treatment strategy.
For selected patients, laser technology may assist portions of the procedure, offering another level of precision and customization.
During cataract surgery, the cloudy natural lens is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens, or IOL. Today’s advanced lens technologies provide more options than ever before and may help patients achieve goals such as:
• Reduced dependence on glasses
• Improved near, intermediate, and distance vision
• Better visual performance for reading and computer work
• Correction of astigmatism at the time of surgery
• Greater visual freedom for active lifestyles
Technology alone does not create personalized care. One of the most important parts of modern cataract surgery is the conversation between surgeon and patient. Understanding daily routines—whether spending hours on a computer, enjoying golf, reading, traveling, exercising, or driving at night—helps guide treatment decisions and establish realistic expectations.
As cataract surgery becomes increasingly advanced, selecting the right surgeon becomes an equally important part of the process. When evaluating your options:
• Research the surgeon’s education and board certification
• Consider experience with advanced technologies and personalized treatment planning
• Ask about available diagnostic equipment and premium lens options
• Read patient reviews and learn about others’ experiences
• Visit the practice website to understand the surgeon’s philosophy and approach to care
The consultation experience itself can also be informative. A surgeon who takes time to understand your visual priorities and explain available options often reflects a more individualized approach.
Cataract surgery today is no longer solely about removing a cloudy lens—it is about creating vision that supports the life patients want to live. Personalized cataract surgery represents a new era in eye care: one that combines advanced technology with individualized planning to deliver outcomes centered not just on clearer sight, but on better living.

Summer is officially in full swing, and while we all love soaking up the sunshine, protecting our skin is the real beauty essential of the season.Whether you’re headed outdoors or simply running errands around town, or even just in front of your computer screens, daily sun protection is one of the most effective ways to help prevent premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and long-term skin damage. Dermatologists recommend choosing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and making it part of your everyday routine (and just for beach days). With hundreds of sunscreen options lining store shelves, finding one that feels good on the skin and contains ingredients you feel comfortable using can be overwhelming. To help narrow the field, we reviewed some of the cleanest and most highly regarded sunscreen formulas available today, including products recognized by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a nonprofit organization that evaluates sunscreen ingredients and safety considerations. Here are a few standout SPF picks to help keep your skin protected, healthy, and glowing all summer long.
Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Fragrance-Free Tinted Mineral Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50
Best Tinted Pick
If you’re looking for a sunscreen that multitasks, this lightweight tinted mineral formula checks all the boxes. In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.”
With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering.
Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life.
As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our
community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best.
When seeking perfection, we search for the professional who has made it his or her life goal to excel within a field of specialization through many years of study, dedication and determination, continually challenging themselves to advance their knowledge; these brilliant human beings not only save lives but also enrich their communities with a skill set second to none. Beyond this and in order to stay abreast of the latest, almost daily changing
medical advancements, the ‘elite’ undergo rigorous maintenance, updating through seminars, conferences and advanced studies to keep current with new technology and procedures.
In adding our ‘Orlando’s Elite Doctors’ section with this issue, we present a group of physicians, all of whom are reputable, Board Certified in their areas of expertise, extremely well recognized within our community and chosen by their peers. Our objective is to initiate a continuing dialogue with our readers, with an aim toward personalizing some of the finest doctors available.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Brian Braithwaite was introduced to medicine at an early age through his parents—his father, an OB/GYN physician, and his mother, a nurse. Spending weekends alongside his father at the hospital sparked a lifelong passion for patient care and service. That early exposure shaped not only his career path, but also his belief that medicine is ultimately about improving lives through compassion, trust, and expertise.
Dr. Braithwaite’s educational journey reflects both ambition and versatility. After earning his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida, he attended the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. During medical school, he pursued a joint MD/JD opportunity through Arizona State University, completing law school in just two years before returning to finish medical training at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona. He later completed his anesthesia residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Interventional Pain at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
Today, Dr. Braithwaite serves as an Interventional Spine and Pain Physician at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopaedics and Spine Center, where he specializes in advanced procedures including epidural therapy, ablation therapy, and joint injections. Recruited to Orlando through a unique opportunity to help build a world-class orthopedic and spine program from the ground up, he was drawn to the organization’s culture of excellence and innovation. His philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family while delivering the highest level of consistent, individualized care possible.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Braithwaite prioritizes family, fitness, and community. He and his wife, Amber are raising their three children in Winter Park, where they enjoy evenings on Park Avenue, local farmers markets, and an active lifestyle that includes travel and pickleball. He also serves on both the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association Board and the Lake Highland Board of Visitors. Looking ahead, he is excited to support Optiml, his wife’s upcoming boutique medical practice in Winter Park, which looks beyond standard labs to find what’s really driving a patient’s health — then builds a personalized plan to optimize it.

His personal journey has been his greatest source of motivation, inspiring him to become what he describes as “a man of the people.” That mindset continues to guide him today as he serves patients with compassion, expertise, and an unwavering dedication to excellence.

Six years ago, he joined AdventHealth and relocated to Orlando, where he found not only a professional home but also an opportunity to serve the region’s growing Hispanic community.
For Dr. Garcia-Henriquez, success is not defined by titles or accomplishments—it is defined by the journey itself. He believes in showing up every day, putting in the work, and embracing the path to continuous growth. Whether performing surgery, conducting colonoscopies, caring for patients in clinic, or rounding in the hospital, he approaches each day with purpose. One of the most meaningful aspects of his career is mentoring the next generation of colon and rectal surgeons, helping trainees develop the skills, discipline, and confidence needed to reach their full potential.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Garcia-Henriquez finds joy in family, fitness, cars, and lifelong learning. He is a devoted father of two young men, Nicolas and Andres. He credits his parents for instilling the values that shaped his life. His guiding philosophy is simple: “Success is what you make it.”

Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Kamran Azad is one of the few plastic surgeons in Central Florida with additional aesthetic fellowship training. Dr. Azad specializes in aesthetic surgery of the breast and body in Central Florida. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Azad received a Master’s degree in Science, Applied Physiology from Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Azad was awarded his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Dr. Azad completed his residency in general surgery at Westchester Medical Center in New York. He was then selected to complete his plastic surgery residency at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Azad chose to pursue a full year of additional training focused exclusively on cosmetic surgery at the Plastic Surgery Center in Sacramento. There he was trained in the most advanced aesthetic surgical techniques of the face, breast, and body—a skill set that he brings to each and every one of his patients.
Dr. Azad is currently an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). He is also affiliated with Oviedo Medical Center in Oviedo, FL.

For Dr. Lorna Bennett, medicine has been a calling since childhood. Born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, and raised in a close-knit farming community, she developed a passion for helping others at an early age. Guided by parents who emphasized faith, hard work, and education, Dr. Bennett excelled in science and pursued her dream of becoming a physician. A pivotal influence was her high school chemistry teacher, who encouraged her ambitions and helped secure scholarships to attend the University of the West Indies—a kindness Dr. Bennett still remembers with deep gratitude.
After earning her medical degree in Jamaica, Dr. Bennett moved to New York to complete her Pediatric Residency at Harlem Hospital through Columbia University, where she later served as Chief Resident. In 2004, seeking sunshine and a strong sense of community, she relocated to Clermont, Florida. She joined what is now AdventHealth Medical Group and became a respected leader within the local healthcare community, serving as Chair of the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Department at Waterman Hospital. In 2013, she fulfilled another dream by opening Bennett Pediatrics. Today, the thriving practice serves families from two locations in Clermont and Altamonte Springs.
As a pediatrician caring for patients from birth through young adulthood, Dr. Bennett believes listening is one of the most important aspects of medicine. Her guiding philosophy is captured in her favorite quote, “Let go and let God,” reflecting her deep faith and belief that compassion, trust, and understanding are essential to healing. She defines success as achieving goals while positively impacting others and strives each day to create a supportive environment for patients, families, and her team.
Outside the office, family remains her greatest joy. Whether traveling home to Jamaica, spending time with her parents, daughter, siblings, and beloved dog Nova, or dancing to reggae music, Dr. Bennett embraces life with gratitude, energy, and heart.
