Wiggly Toes at Stockland Baldivis is an indoor play centre that aims to provide children with a safe and enjoyable playing environment, while giving parents and carers a relaxed shopping experience. Christmas shopping can be chaotic at the best of times, but when you've got little ones that simply don't want to be there, it can be even more stressful. But, it doesn't have to be!
The lovely team at Wiggly Toes are well equipped to look after your children for short or longer periods of time, depending on your shopping schedule. So, next time you're in-centre and it all becomes too much, know that a helping hand is just around the corner.
Traditional Christmas Gingerbread
A seasonal favourite, gingerbread cookies are the perfect addition to all your Christmas gatherings.
INGREDIENTS
150g butter
½ cup golden syrup
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
3 cups plain flour
1 tbsp ground ginger
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
METHOD
1 tsp ground cloves
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp baking powder
1 egg, lightly beaten Chocolate chips, to decorate Writing fudge, for decoration
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees and line two oven trays with baking paper. Place butter, golden syrup and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook for three minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil.
2. Remove from the heat and add bicarbonate of soda, stir to combine. Transfer mixture to a large heatproof bowl and set aside to cool.
3. Sift flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and baking powder over the butter mixture. Add in the egg and stir until combined. Empty contents onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
4. Divide dough into two portions and cover with plastic wrap. Place in the fridge until firm.
5. Roll dough between two sheets of baking paper until it's about 5mm thick.
6. Using Christmas biscuit cutters, cut gingerbread man shapes from the dough.
7. Place cut-out dough on trays, approximately 3cm apart. Bake one tray at a time for about eight minutes or until just firm. Remove from the oven and set aside on a wire rack to cool.
8. Decorate biscuits using writing fudge and choc chips.
