ANOTHER YEAR OF A-LEVEL SUCCESS
A RECORD YEAR FOR GCSE RESULTS
ST SWITHUN’S TO INTRODUCE A NURSERY
MS GANDEE NAMED AS GSA PRESIDENT ELECT
We are delighted to announce the opening of our nursery, which will offer high-quality, co-educational provision for children from nine months to four years old, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment during their earliest years.
St Swithun’s headmistress Jane Gandee has been named the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) President Elect for 2026/27. “I am very much looking forward to helping to ensure that young women are heard in an increasingly polarised and fractious world,” she said. She will take up the GSA presidency in September 2027.
Students achieved exceptional results this year, with 94% of grades awarded at A-B*, the strongest non-pandemic performance since 2013. Three-quarters of the year group secured AAB or higher. Find out more
This year, students achieved record-breaking GCSE results, with 43% of grades at Grade 9, exceeding the previous school record. A remarkable 70% of grades were 9-8 (A equivalent), and 85% were 7 or above, marking the best results in the last few years. Find out more

STUDENTS CLIMB THE HILLS OF WINCHESTER TO RAISE OVER £50,000
INDOOR COURTS BUILD UPDATE
HPL REACCREDITATION
SENIOR STUDENTS TAKE TO THE STAGE FOR TEDX ST SWITHUN’S
Before the end of the school year, the whole school community came together to raise funds to provide bursary places for girls from disadvantaged circumstances. From Reception to Sixth Form, alongside staff members, students ran, completed circuits and walked the hills of Winchester while enjoying the city’s beautiful views. Alongside a silent auction, the community raised more than £50,000 for transformational bursaries.
Last term we celebrated the topping-out ceremony, marking the completion of the building’s frame and structure. Since then, considerable progress has been made, with the floor now laid, walls plastered and decorated, internal doors installed and the new entrance gates in place. We remain on programme to complete the facility before pupils return in September. Find out more

We are delighted to have been reaccredited as an HPL World Class School for a further three years. From Dubai to Mexico, St Swithun’s remains part of an international community of schools that encourages students to think independently, embrace challenge and collaboration, and develop the resilience and confidence to find their own voice. ‘Perspective’ was the theme of the inaugural TEDx St Swithun’s School event. Ten students from Years 9 to 12 presented on a range of topics around the theme of ‘Perspectives’. Talks ranged from the dangers of a cashless society to the joy of taking risks, concluding with a personal reflection from a student who had chosen not to own a mobile phone. Find out more
