The Editor Dear Team, As we turn the pages of this edition, we are reminded that every chapter in the Electrosales story is built one brick at a time. Our greatest strength has never been our buildings, our branches or our products. It has always been our people. Every customer served, every challenge overcome, every relationship built and every opportunity created adds another brick to the foundation of who we are. We celebrate an extraordinary milestone as our CEO, Hilton Macklin, marks 40 years of dedicated service. His journey reminds us that legacy is not built in a single moment but through years of consistent leadership, humility, integrity and investing in people. That same spirit is captured in our Electrosales Level Up campaign. To level up is more than a promotion it is a mindset. It is choosing every day to improve, innovate and raise the standard in everything we do. As you continue turning these pages, you will discover stories that reflect the very bricks upon which Electrosales is built. Stories of young people being given an opportunity to grow. Stories of mentors whose kindness and guidance leave a lasting impact. Stories of mothers balancing family and work with courage and resilience. Stories of colleagues whose quiet dedication behind the scenes makes every customer experience possible. You will also see what happens when we operate as one. From the remarkable transformation of Plumtree Road to the community projects at Harare High School, Vainona High School and the children’s home in Marondera, our teams demonstrate that giving back is not simply something we do, it is part of who we are. Together, we build stronger communities while strengthening the relationships that define our organisation. Even our commitment to protecting the information entrusted to us reflects one of our most important bricks, doing the right thing. Integrity is demonstrated not only in the big decisions but also in the everyday choices that earn the trust of our customers, colleagues and partners. When we value our people, build strong partnerships, embrace innovation, collaborate as one team, serve our customers with excellence and create value for our shareholders, we are laying bricks that will support future generations of Electrosales. As we continue turning the pages of our story, may we remember that every one of us is both an author and a builder. The choices we make today become the foundation upon which tomorrow is built. Thank you for the passion, commitment and resilience you bring to Electrosales every day. Thank you for helping to build something that is greater than any one individual. We are indeed part of something greater than ourselves. I hope this edition inspires you to reflect on the part you play in our journey. Together, we are turning the pages of a remarkable story, one brick, one relationship and one act of excellence at a time.

Reflections
On Growth
As Electrosales continues to grow, it’s sometimes worth taking a step back and reflecting on just how far the business has come. What started as a more traditional over-the-counter hardware operation has evolved into a modern retail business with branches across the country, larger product ranges, growing customer expectations, and increasingly complex operations happening every day. That kind of growth does not happen by accident. Our people, systems, processes, and infrastructure have all had to continually evolve alongside the business. Operating in Zimbabwe comes with its own unique challenges, and adapting to changing conditions has always been part of the journey. At the same time, customer expectations continue to grow, with greater demand for convenience, service, communication, stock visibility, and overall experience. Technology has played an important role in supporting this growth, but never simply for the sake of technology itself. The objective has always been practical improvement; helping branches operate more effectively, improving visibility across the business, supporting better decision-making, and ultimately helping us deliver a better experience for both customers and staff. One thing I do think is important to acknowledge is the amount of work that often goes unseen. When a new branch opens, people see the finished result. They see the shelves, lighting, stock, systems, displays, tills, signage, and the experience on opening day. What they often don’t see are the weeks and months of preparation beforehand. Across the company, many individuals put in long hours preparing infrastructure, configuring systems, coordinating stock, testing equipment, resolving last-minute issues, supporting installations, and making sure everything is operational when the doors finally open. A lot of this work happens quietly in the background, but it is absolutely critical to the success of the business. There are many people across Electrosales who consistently put in extraordinary effort in operations, warehousing, procurement, finance, IT, maintenance, logistics, support, branch setup, and many other areas. As the business expands, the coordination required across departments becomes even more important, and a huge amount of collaboration goes into keeping everything running successfully. One of the things I personally appreciate most is seeing different parts of the business come together to solve problems and support one another. In a company of this scale, very little success happens in isolation anymore. The more we grow, the more important adaptability, communication, collaboration, and shared responsibility become. Personally, it has also been rewarding to experience this growth journey firsthand. From the earlier days of loading computers, pulling network cables, and supporting branches on the ground, to now working alongside and managing people across different areas of the business, I too have had to continually learn, adapt, and evolve alongside Electrosales itself. One of the most encouraging things has been seeing the growth of so many people across the company; individuals who started in one role, developed their skills, took on new challenges, and became key parts of the business we see today. Hopefully this culture of growth, learning, and opportunity continues long into the future. Looking ahead, there are still many exciting opportunities for Electrosales to continue improving and strengthening the way we operate. If there is one thing that has consistently stood out, it is the resilience, commitment, and effort of the people behind the business. Thank you to everyone across Electrosales for the role you continue to play in this journey, and for the effort, commitment, and long hours that often happen quietly in the background.

A Decade At Electrosales, Building More Than Sales Melusi Ndlovhu - Plumtree Road
Ten years ago I joined Electrosales not just for a job, but for a place that felt like home. Our vision is clear: To be Zimbabwe’s premier hardware supplier through range, service, value, quality, and innovation. That vision has guided me in this journey. What’s kept me here are “Our Bricks” the values we build on every day. People and Community come first. When staff feel valued, they serve better. I’ve tried to pass that on by mentoring new team members. I’m also proud of the times we’ve given back to schools and local builders, because hardware is about building communities, not just selling stock. Customer and Partnerships
define our work. I learned early that
customers don’t remember discounts; they remember if you solved their problem at 4:45pm. Building strong relationships with plumbers, electricians, and contractors has been more valuable than any single sale. Agility and Integrity keep us moving. In my ten years we’ve faced stock shortages, price changes. The teams that win are flexible and fast. But speed means nothing without doing the right thing honest pricing, reliable service, and trust you can’t restock. Collaboration and Value tie it all together. When Sales, Stores, and Accounts work as one, we fix problems faster. Understanding that margin isn’t just a number, but what keeps the business sustainable, changed how I work. Looking back, I’m proudest of the relationships built and the staff I’ve coached. Looking forward, I’m excited for what’s next. If we keep living these values, Electrosales will remain not just a supplier, but a home for customers and staff alike.

Here’s to the next chapter of building together.
Growth Through Grit - My Electrosales Brian Mutsvanga - Msasa Hardware Journey
I joined Electrosales Hardware in 2020 at the Kwekwe branch as a merchandiser. On the floor, some of the team started calling me Sir Cloudee, a nickname that stuck because I was always looking at the “bigger picture” of the store. My days were about product placement, stock checks, and learning the rhythm of retail. It was ground-level, hands-on work, but I didn’t know it then: I was learning the foundation of how this business really runs. After three years in Kwekwe, I knew every aisle and every fast-moving SKU. More importantly, I’d learned how to spot what customers were really looking for and how to keep a store floor humming. That consistency paid off, and my merchandising skills started getting noticed beyond just my branch. In 2024, I moved to Pomona branch in Harare. Coming from a small branch to a bigger branch came with more responsibility. Higher foot traffic, more stock, more pressure. However, the same principles from Kwekwe still worked: keep the floor tight, serve customers well, and stay ahead of stock issues. The move felt like Electrosales saying, “We see you. We trust you with more.” Along the way, I was called into multiple branch set-up projects as the merchandising lead- Madokero, Southerton, Cardinals, Pomona Yard and Westgate respectively. I played a key part in getting those floors launch ready: making sure layouts were right, training teams on display standards, and making sure day-one customers walked into a store that felt established. Sir Cloudee was up for the challenge- turning empty shells into stores that sell. In 2026, I now serve as a Floor Supervisor at Msasa Branch, having progressed from merchandiser to supervisor in just six years while gaining experience across several branches. Today I’m not just maintaining displays, I’m leading the team that does. I’m responsible for how the floor looks, how customers experience us, and how my team grows. Same company, many branches, three roles. The thread is simple: show up, learn the details, and take ownership. Electrosales gave me the ladder, but optimism, merchandising skill, and hard work were how I climbed it. Kwekwe taught me the basics. The new branches proved my value. Pomona tested my scale. Msasa is teaching me leadership, and Sir Cloudee is still building.

of sales with creativity and determination.
Each day commences with careful preparation. Shelves are cleaned, products are displayed with intention, and price changes are updated all before the first customer steps in. This preparation reflects discipline, integrity and a desire to do the right thing. Long before a sale is made, commitment and responsibility have already been invested. Behind each smile, there’s a story of overcoming challenges, of adapting to different personalities, and of finding solutions. It’s a dance of listening and responding, where the steps aren’t always choreographed, but the outcome is always aimed at doing the right thing. Whether it’s addressing a concern or closing a deal, the goal remains the same: to connect and create a lasting impression. As customers walk in, they are met with warm smiles and welcoming attitudes, regardless of how the day may become. Portraying good listening skills and attentiveness, salespeople offer thoughtful guidance and respond with courtesy and professionalism. In doing so they represent not only themselves, but the organization as a whole. In a world of constant change, salespeople embody flexibility, innovation and dynamic spirit, adapting and evolving to meet new challenges ensuring that customers feel valued and understood.
It’s not all about pocketing money: beyond transactions partnerships are built. They remember names, preferences, and stories, weaving a tapestry of connections that turn one-time buyers into loyal advocates. By fostering the culture of building strong partnerships, they create a network of trust and loyalty that drives long-term success, encouraging a good retention of old and new customers always coming back for more, thereby making the company thrive. In the quiet moments, they reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and how they can improve. When challenges are met with solutions, and obstacles become opportunities, that’s when excellent customer service shines brightest. It’s a testament to the strength of our company, where doing the right thing is the foundation of everything we do. And when the day winds down, and the team gathers to celebrate wins and reflect on lessons learned, it’s clear: our strength lies in the people. By valuing our people, we invest in their growth, recognize their efforts, and create an environment where everyone thrives. The cycle repeats – a seamless blend of service, partnership, and progress. Our salespeople step into each day with purpose, backed by a company that champions collaboration, drives shareholder value, and stays true to its principles. In the end, it’s not just about sales – it’s about the connections we make, the lives we touch, and the values we stand for. Our salespeople are the heartbeat of our mission, driven by the zeal to provide excellent customer service, guided by doing the right thing, and empowered by our commitment to value our people.

Safeguarding Our People’s Data: What The Law Now Requires Of Us Andrew Banda - IT
On 3 December 2021, Zimbabwe enacted the Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:22], commonly referred to as the Data Protection Act. This landmark legislation fundamentally changed the obligations that every organisation, including ours, has towards the people whose data we hold: our customers, our employees, and our suppliers. In September 2024, the Government went a step further by introducing the Cyber and Data Protection (Licensing of Data Controllers and Appointment of Data Protection Officers) Regulations. These Regulations strengthened enforcement by requiring organisations that process personal data to formally register with the regulator and, where applicable, to appoint a Data Protection Officer. That is precisely why this role now exists at Electrosales. What Counts as Personal Data? Under the Act, personal information is broadly defined and includes names, addresses, telephone numbers, identification numbers, biometric data, email addresses, and even opinions expressed about an identifiable individual. Sensitive data including health information, religious beliefs, political opinions, and racial or ethnic origin attracts a higher degree of protection because its mishandling can cause serious harm to individuals. At Electrosales, we handle personal data every day: customer invoices, employee payroll records, HR files, supplier contacts, CCTV footage in our branches, and data collected through our point-of-sale systems. All of this falls within the Act’s scope. Key Principles of Data Protection Under the law, Electrosales acts as a Data Controller. This means we must follow specific data quality principles: »
Lawfulness and Fairness: We must collect and process data legally and transparently. Individuals should always know why their information is being collected.
»
Purpose Limitation: Data should only be used for the specific purpose for which it was collected. For example, customer details gathered for invoicing should not be used for unrelated marketing without consent.
»
Data Minimisation: We should only collect data that is strictly necessary.
»
Accuracy: Keeping data up to date is critical. Inaccurate data can lead to poor decisions and compliance risks.
»
Storage Limitation: Personal data should not be retained for longer than necessary. We must have clear policies in place for data retention and deletion.
»
Integrity and Confidentiality: Appropriate security measures must be implemented to protect personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage.
24
Why Data Protection Matters to Electrosales Failure to comply with the Act can result in serious consequences: »
Regulatory fines imposed by POTRAZ
»
Criminal prosecution for the unlawful disclosure of personal data
»
Custodial sentences for serious offences may extend to a maximum of 20 years
»
Reputational damage and the loss of customer trust
»
Mandatory suspension of data processing activities
On the other hand, strong data protection practices help us: »
Build customer confidence and loyalty
»
Strengthen our brand reputation
»
Ensure business continuity
Your Role as a Team Member Data protection is not solely the responsibility of the DPO or the IT department, it is everyone’s responsibility. Here is how you can contribute: »
Do not share personal data: Never share customer or employee data with unauthorised parties, whether by email, WhatsApp, or verbally. If you are unsure whether sharing is appropriate, check with your manager or the DPO first.
»
Protect your credentials: Never share passwords or login details with anyone, under any circumstances.
»
Be cautious with emails: Watch out for phishing attempts and suspicious email attachments. If something looks unusual, do not open it.
»
Lock your workstation: Lock your screen whenever you step away, even briefly. Unattended screens displaying personal data are a compliance risk. Do not leave sensitive documents unattended in public areas.
»
Report incidents promptly: If you suspect that personal data has been accessed, lost, or shared without authorisation, report it to the DPO immediately. Early reporting allows us to respond appropriately and, where required, notify the relevant authorities within the required timeframe.
As we navigate an increasingly digital world, the importance of data protection cannot be overstated. Understanding and adhering to the Cyber and Data Protection Act is essential for our continued success as an organisation, and for maintaining the trust of our customers and colleagues. Let us all commit to making data protection a natural part of our daily operations, ensuring that Electrosales remains a leader in safeguarding personal information and respecting the privacy rights of individuals. Together, we can foster a secure and compliant workplace that reflects our core values of integrity and responsibility.

came August 2025, when what once seemed impossible became reality. A record-breaking milestone was achieved, sparking the momentum that set lasting progress in motion. Plans and budgets were done and revised. Commissioning of the project was finally approved and word reached us to look forward to the coming period of demolitions, construction and renovations.
The shop development started in November and ended mid December 2025.It was pain for gain, amid construction and renovations, trading went on. Customers complained of dust, but curiosity gripped them, they wanted to see the result. More than 100 personnel from Contractors participated in this development and this called for tightened security. In the mornings, the branch management team would report earlier than usual to sweep the shop preparing for the day’s work and other times would knock off after midnight to accommodate renovations in sensitive customer areas which could not be carried out during trading hours.
The work done increased retail space which meant improved stocking and smart merchandising. The new merchandising whispers order and elegance, guiding your eyes from one shelf to the next. Every corner feels intentional, every product placed as if waiting to be discovered. The signage in the shop is informative giving our customers a wow effect. The shop layout improvements invite customers to linger, connect and celebrate the beauty of a hardware store. A closer look at the increased signing of monthly Benefits Card starting this year in relation to individual customer sales is evidence that walk-in customers have significantly increased because of the shop development. We believe our greatest achievements are still ahead of us, and we are confident that new benchmarks will be reached and exceeded in the months to come.

Keeping the Wheels Turning Inside the Electrosales Logistics Operation Behind every fully stocked shelf, every branch delivery, and every successful trading day at Electrosales is a logistics operation working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the business moving. From early morning vehicle allocations to real-time tracking and branch replenishment, the Logistics Department plays a critical role in ensuring stock reaches the right place, at the right time, every single day. As the business continues to expand across Zimbabwe, so too does the scale and complexity of the operation. Today, the Electrosales logistics fleet consists of 25 trucks, 18 three-wheel scooters, and 41 forklifts operating countrywide. Together, they help move as much as 450 tonnes of stock every week to branches across the network. In a typical month, the fleet covers an impressive 60,000 kilometres while consuming approximately 13,000 litres of fuel as deliveries are made to branches including Marondera, Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Kwekwe, and Gweru. Keeping an operation of this scale running smoothly takes coordination, communication, and a dedicated team. The department currently operates with 43 drivers, including 10 forklift drivers, supported by a logistics support team of five who oversee daily planning and operations. For the Logistics Manager, Jason Wells, one of the proudest moments has been stepping back and evaluating the sheer volume of stock being moved daily, weekly, and monthly across the business. “It really highlighted the scale of what the team achieves consistently behind the scenes,” he shared. Technology has also become an increasingly important part of the department’s operations. The team currently uses an online sheet system that helps track which stock is going to specific branches each day, allowing vehicles to be allocated according to load requirements. An online fuel monitoring system also helps track fuel usage per vehicle and trip, improving visibility and efficiency across the fleet. The department is now taking another step forward with the development of a Transport App that will be used by drivers while out on deliveries. The app will link directly to the Logistics control room, giving the support team real-time oversight of vehicle movements and locations across the country. Several systems work together daily to ensure smooth operations. An in-house stock control system identifies stock requirements for each branch, while the logistics support team allocates loads and vehicles throughout the day. Vehicle tracking systems monitored by the in-house surveillance team provide additional oversight, while a dedicated Logistics WhatsApp group allows for instant communication and updates between drivers and the control room. As the company continues to grow, the logistics operation continues to evolve alongside it. Over the past six months alone, the department has seen significant growth in activity and demand. Fleet performance is continually reviewed to determine where replacement vehicles may be needed, while third-party transport providers are also used on an ad hoc basis to help manage increased workloads and maintain continuous stock flow to branches nationwide. While customers and staff may simply see trucks arriving at branches, the Logistics Manager says there is far more happening behind the scenes than most people realise. “What people often don’t see is the amount of coordination required to move even one stock item from source to branch,” he explained. From route planning and fuel monitoring to communication systems and real-time tracking, the logistics operation has become one of the key engines powering the continued growth of Electrosales. And perhaps no sentence sums up the department better than this: “Wheels turning means replenishment stock is moving to our branches.”

Though not always visible to the outside world, this department plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the company’s corporate customers receive efficient, reliable, and coordinated service. Electrosales Bulk was established with a clear and focused mandate: to consolidate orders from across all branches for corporate clients and oversee their delivery in a streamlined and professional manner. Your Value Is Not Defined By The Outcome Elvis T Chirenda - Madokero
“Loss isn’t always a reflection of your effort. Sometimes it’s a reflection of what the world wasn’t ready to give you. Sometimes it’s a door closing because it wasn’t your door. Sometimes it’s a season ending so a new one can actually start.” When a situation crumbles despite our best efforts, we turn into our own worst enemies. That’s why we overthink. We replay every detail in our minds, looking for that exact moment we messed up, the word we said wrong, the sign we missed, the thing we should have done differently. We torture ourselves trying to rewrite the past that wasn’t ours to fix in the first place. You can do everything right and still lose. And it will mess with your head because we’re trained to believe effort equals outcome. But real life doesn’t work on formulas. Sometimes you can give everything you have, and it still won’t be enough for the situation you’re in. Not because you failed, but because the outcome was never in your control. However, the truth is sometimes you didn’t fall short. Sometimes you didn’t miss the sign. Sometimes you didn’t fail. The situation simply wasn’t meant to work. The timing wasn’t aligned; the path wasn’t yours. Stop punishing yourself for outcomes you can’t control. Stop blaming your heart for caring. Stop rewriting the past like you caused every ending. Because you can do everything right and still lose. Losing does not mean you are unworthy and useless; it means you are human. Your value is found in your resilience and your willingness to show up, not in the trophy case of your successes.

Through your encouragement, I have grown not only in my work, but also in confidence. Some people are placed in our lives for a reason not only to lead us but also to uplift us. Your kindness and guidance have left a mark that goes far beyond the workplace. I may not say it often enough, but I am deeply grateful for the support you have given me and for the person you are. Some people manage teams, but very few truly touch the lives of the people they lead. No amount of words can ever really express how grateful I am, that being said, Thank you, Carol, for being one of those rare people I will always appreciate and be grateful for you.
