COMPANY NEWS

Electrosales Cardinals

Our Flagship of Innovation

Electrosales has reached an exciting new milestone with the official opening of the Cardinals Branch our 24th branch and proud flagship location. The grand opening took place on Friday, 2 May 2025, at the prestigious Cardinals Corner in Chisipite, Harare, setting the stage for a bold new chapter in our journey.

This momentous event isn’t just another branch launch—it’s a statement of intent. A symbol of our growth, innovation, and unwavering commitment to setting new standards in the Zimbabwean retail and hardware industry.

Bigger, Smarter, Bolder

At 3,000 square metres, Electrosales Cardinals is one of the largest retail hardware spaces in Zimbabwe. It’s more than just big—it’s built for performance. Behind the store, a 1,000 square metre yard supports high-volume bulk collections and a highly efficient delivery operation, tailored for both trade and retail customers.

From the very beginning, this branch was envisioned to embody the future of hardware retail; smart, streamlined, and deeply customer-focused.

Design that Delivers

The store’s industrial-modern architecture is more than a visual statement, it’s a functional triumph. It hosts expansive, high-ceilinged spaces that promote airflow and comfort, wide and well-lit aisles that ensure smooth movement (even with oversized trolleys), and a smart mix of durable materials like concrete, brick, steel, and glass ensuring long-term resilience under the toughest conditions.

The customer-first approach is evident in every detail:

> Extra-wide (2.5m) parking bays cater specifically to contractors and shoppers with larger vehicles.

> A landscaped entrance with lush green gardens creates a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere for customers.

Location, Location, Location

Cardinals Corner is more than a new retail centre—it’s a destination in the making. With SPAR Supermarket, CFAO Toyota showroom, and other premium outlets as neighbours, Electrosales Cardinals is part of a dynamic commercial hub that will draw shoppers from across the city.

Its strategic location at the convergence of Highlands, Chisipite, The Grange, Glen Lorne, Umwinsidale, and Shawasha Hills makes it the only major hardware retailer serving these high-demand areas. Positioning us as the go-to choice for both residential and commercial customers.

Engineered for Excellence

Whether it’s a homeowner tackling a DIY project or a contractor managing a large-scale build, Electrosales Cardinals is built to serve and impress. At the heart of it all is our team’s expertise and dedication, ensuring that every

customer who walks through our doors gets more than just products, they get solutions:

> Expert guidance from knowledgeable staff

> A vast product range tailored to every project need

This branch doesn’t just reflect our heritage, it redefines it. As we celebrate our 24th branch, we’re also looking ahead, setting new benchmarks in service, convenience, and innovation.

Operate as One/Collaboration

The opening of Cardinals reflects the broader vision of Electrosales as a brand. With every store we open, we carry forward our Future, to be the premier Zimbabwean hardware supplier, delivering range, service, value, quality and innovation to all our customers.

Behind the Shelves: Meet the Merchandising Masters

When customers step into Electrosales Cardinals, they’re welcomed by neatly arranged shelves, creative displays, and a clean, inviting environment. But behind that seamless retail experience lies the effort, planning, and precision of a highly skilled merchandising team.

At the heart of it all is the Merchandising team, led by the dynamic Bridget Chenai Gurajena, Merchandising Manager. Under her guidance, this dedicated group works tirelessly to ensure that every aisle tells a story, every product looks its best, and every layout is designed to both attract and inspire. From designing store layouts and developing merchandising standards to aligning strategy with customer experience, she ensures that every branch under her wing is visually compelling and operationally efficient.

This spotlight captures just part of the incredible merchandising force within the Electrosales Group, a talented team that transforms shelves, tools, and tiles into something more: a retail experience that feels thoughtful, seamless, and alive. It’s a snapshot of a wider crew whose day-to-day work often goes unseen, but whose impact is felt the moment a customer walks through the door.

Enock “Shumba” Shumbairerwa

Where precision meets presentation, you’ll find Enock Shumbairerwa, Merchandising Supervisor and the man the team calls “Master Mind.” Shumba doesn’t just manage store layouts, he brings them to life. “I fly the merchandising plane,” he says with a grin. From coordinating floor designs to implementing detailed category plans, Shumba ensures every inch of space is used with purpose and efficiency. His ability to fit 20,000 product lines into just 200 square metres is nothing short of remarkable.

But it’s not just numbers and neatness. Shumba thrives on turning plans into action, executing with a hands-on approach that delivers real results. Whether on the shop floor or out in the fields (his dream job if he weren’t in retail), Enock is always focused, grounded, and ready to build something better.

Of course, every expert has their essentials. For Shumba, it’s a chicken pie and a Coke, his go-to combo for powering through long, high-energy days at Electrosales branches. And when he’s not managing retail space like a pro? You might find him on a farm. “Farming is my hobby,” he shares. “I’d be out there growing something, building something, always working with my hands.” Whether it’s in a field or on the shop floor, one thing’s clear: Shumba brings order, clarity, and structure wherever he goes. We count on him to turn empty space into strategic opportunity, and he delivers, every single time.

Ryan “Ry” Dzoriwa

Some merchandisers focus on one section. Others might manage a couple of aisles. But then there’s Ryan Dzoriwa, who confidently claims he can merchandise the entire shop by himself. And honestly? We believe him.

Known to the team as “Ry,” Ryan brings a mix of quiet strength and reliable consistency that makes him a pillar on the shop floor at Electrosales branches. His job? Making sure products are displayed effectively and attractively, and he does it with such ease and determination, you’d think he has superpowers.

“I’ve got super strength,” he says with a grin. “If I’m merchandising the whole shop, I don’t need any help.”

There’s a humble pride in the way Ryan approaches his work. Every shelf he touches is straightened, every product aligned just so, an unspoken standard that keeps Electrosales branches looking sharp and professional. Outside of merchandising, Ryan is something of a fitness buff. He casually mentions he can do 200 pushups, which makes sense when you see him powering through physical tasks most would need a team for. But even superheroes need fuel, Ryan’s workday doesn’t truly begin without his two essentials: a hot cup of coffee and a pie.

His hidden talent? He’s a true handyman. Whether it’s tools, wiring, or a device that needs a second life, you might find Ryan behind the scenes in the returns department, fixing up electrical gadgets like it’s second nature.

Ryan is living proof that strength and precision can go hand in hand. From the first display in the morning to the final checks before closing, his commitment doesn’t waver. His energy, attitude, and work ethic quietly raise the bar and for the rest of the team, that’s just Ry being Ry.

That’s because Brian sees merchandising as a form of storytelling. With his brand storytelling superpower, he doesn’t just show a product he brings its narrative to life through colour, layout, and emotion. Every display becomes a chapter. Every aisle, a scene.

Outside the world of shelves and signage, Brian is an artist at heart. A painter, blending vibrant colours into canvases that reflect the same energy he brings to work. And just like any great artist, he has his muse: artisanal coffee the fuel that powers both creativity and early mornings.

If he wasn’t creating in-store masterpieces, Brian says he’d be out there coordinating events, trade shows, or exhibitions anywhere that demands both visual flair and logistical genius.

Affectionately known as “Sekuru Koffi” for his love of Koffi Olomide and Rhumba, Fradreck brings precision, flair, and a craftsman’s touch to the shop floor. His mission? “To keep the store stocked and sharp one screw at a time.”

More than just neat shelves, his displays are designed to move products and impress customers. His fuel: coffee, trail mix, and the occasional cookie. But what really drives him is his Rhumba playlist and a hidden talent for DIY, from furniture making to electrical work.

“I’d be an electrician or a machine operator if I wasn’t doing this,” he says. “But give me a hammer and a weekend, and I’ll build something store-worthy.”

I work closely with the sales floor team and the floor supervisor to keep the store layout sharp and functional.”

His secret sauce? A sharp eye for design fuelled by a hidden talent in drawing and sketching and an instinct for what captures a customer’s attention.

Clive’s favourite fuel during a long day of merchandising? Lays and maheu. And if he weren’t in this role?

“I’d definitely be one of the supervisors. I love being hands-on and involved in operations.”

Fun fact: Ask Clive for a random nugget of knowledge and he’ll surprise you with this one “You can’t tickle yourself. Your brain anticipates and cancels out sensations caused by your own movement.”

Some people stock shelves. Others tell stories. And then there’s Brian Mutsvanga, who does both often at the same time. Around Electrosales, he’s known as Sir Cloud, a name that floats as effortlessly as his displays land. A visible mass of creativity, strategy, and retail finesse, Brian isn’t just part of the Merchandising team he’s a retail rock star.

His job? Making the store pop. Day in, day out, Brian brings merchandising magic to life, creating displays that stop customers in their tracks and turn simple shelving into immersive brand experiences. He doesn’t just arrange products he builds worlds around them.

“I can fit the entire Hogwarts library into a single storedisplay,” he says with a straight face and you almost believe he’s done it.

At Electrosales, Sir Cloud brings the kind of imaginative precision that turns product placement into performance art. He reminds us that great retail isn’t just about what’s on the shelf it’s about how it makes people feel.

Fradreck “Koffi” Tambo

Every department has its rhythm. In merchandising, it might sound like a perfectly placed screw, the click of a stocked shelf or the hum of Rhumba playing softly in the background.

Follow the music, and you’ll likely find Fradreck our “Hammer Time Hero” and Aisles Organizer Extraordinaire.

Fradreck’s dream superpower? Instantly organizing any space which fits perfectly, because he’s already doing that every day. His work blends craft, care, and a little music, proving that great merchandising is more than just products on a shelf it’s passion in motion.

Clive Mhike: The Merchandising Magician

Clive’s official title might not include the word “magician,” but talk to anyone at Electrosales, and they’ll tell you: what he does on the sales floor borders on spellbinding.

As he puts it: “I’m responsible for creating visuallyappealing product displays and maintaining a hygienic environment.

And if he could pick a superpower?

“I’d want to know what people are thinking.” (Imagine the visual displays he could come up with then!)

At Electrosales, every aisle, every display, and every perfectly placed product reflects the people behind the scenes individuals who bring not just skill, but soul, to their work. The Merchandising Team doesn’t just fill shelves; they shape customer experiences, build visual stories, and turn everyday shopping into something memorable.

Their work may often go unseen, but its impact is undeniable. It’s in the seamless flow of a layout, the impulse to pick up a product, the satisfaction of a well-stocked shelf. It’s in the small moments that make Electrosales Cardinals feel less like a store and more like a place where craftsmanship meets care.

So the next time you walk through those gleaming aisles, take a moment to appreciate the invisible hands that make it all come together. Because behind every great shelf is a great team!

Electrosales Cardinals Suppliers’ Day: A Celebration of Partnership, Products, and Community

On Saturday, 17th May, Electrosales Cardinals hosted a vibrant Suppliers’ Day, bringing together key suppliers, customers, and staff for a day packed with interaction, education, and family-friendly fun. The event was more than a gathering , it was a celebration of the shared value between Electrosales and its suppliers, centred around customer engagement and community impact.

The store came alive with interactive displays and activations, as suppliers took the opportunity to demonstrate their products in action. One particularly notable highlight was a Rust-O-leum product demonstration, where visitors witnessed firsthand how wornout bathtubs could be restored to pristine condition, a crowdpuller that perfectly blended practicality with inspiration.

Throughout the store, customerfocused promotions elevated the shopping experience. Shield ran a value-added campaign where every product purchase earned customers a free tyre cleaning, a unique and appreciated gesture. Montego delighted pet lovers by giving away free dog bowls and leashes with every purchase of their products, and Yale attracted

keen interest by offering free key cutting on the spot.

To keep energy high and appetites satisfied, Garfunkels operated a bustling boerewors stand, with all proceeds from the sales generously donated to Childline, reinforcing the day’s community-driven spirit. The delicious aroma and charitable cause drew a steady stream of supporters throughout the event.

Many suppliers took up space in-store, creating lively minishowrooms filled with product samples, giveaways, and enthusiastic brand ambassadors. The atmosphere was festive and engaging, giving customers a rare chance to interact directly with the people behind the products.

The day also featured lighter entertainment for all ages. The Scavenger Hunt drew substantial participation and created a lively buzz as teams raced to solve clues scattered around the different supplier gazebos. It was an engaging activity that brought out the competitive spirit in the best way encouraging teamwork and discovery, with some lucky winners taking home well-earned prizes.

The Colouring Competition was also a hit with families. Parents were encouraged to take the entries home so children could complete them at their own pace, allowing creativity to flourish beyond the event itself. The competition extended the spirit of Suppliers’ Day into households, making the celebration last a little longer for

the youngest Electrosales fans. Supplier feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with high praise for the smooth organization, supportive in-branch staff, and quality engagement with customers. The combination of practical demonstrations, customer rewards, and community initiatives made for a memorable experience that benefited everyone involved.

By blending business insight, customer appreciation, and social impact, Cardinals

Supplier’s Day Cardinals proved to be a resounding success, leaving suppliers feeling valued, customers appreciated, and the community stronger. Here’s to hosting even more engaging and impactful events in the future.

Cultivating a home within our workplace - Robert

Zimbodza

Let us redefine our perception of the workplace not as a mere obligation, but as an extension of our very essence. In many ways, it is our true home. The reality is that by the time we return to our houses, we engage in only a fleeting two hours of activity before retiring to bed. If we neglect to cultivate a harmonious and invigorating work environment, we resign ourselves to an existence devoid of fulfilment, for this is where the majority of our lives unfold.

I’m grateful for our Victorian “Mosi-oa-Tunya, the Smoke That Thunders” Electrosales branch. We’ve discovered that we are more than just colleagues we are a family. To strengthen our bond, we’ve come up with initiatives that bring us together, like after-work photoshoots, regardless of status or position, to capture light-hearted and fun moments.

Our quarterly birthday celebrations, once a monthly tradition, now serve as highly anticipated gatherings that cultivate unity and a deep sense of belonging. However, perhaps the most profound and transformative endeavour has been our outreach to the elderly.

Visiting their home and celebrating life’s milestones with them has been nothing short of extraordinary. The bond we forged became so profound that when a remarkable 108-year-old grandmother passed away, the caretakers honoured us as family by informing us of her passing an emotional testament to the impact

of genuine human connection.

To all our branches, I extend this heartfelt advice: treat your workplace as your sanctuary. If we fail to do so, we consign ourselves to a life of monotony and discontent. Many declare that time is money, yet the unvarnished truth is that time is life itself.

Life is not merely measured in years but in moments and the vast majority of those moments are spent at work.

Let us ensure that every moment is one of purpose, connection, and fulfilment.

With unwavering appreciation.

Electrosales Shines at Net Metering Solar Exhibition-

By Jasper Mubhango

The BRRA Net Metering Solar Exhibition, held on March 14–15, 2025, at Northside Community Church in Borrowdale, proved to be a timely and dynamic platform for Electrosales Hardware to showcase its growing strength in the renewable energy space. Organized by the Borrowdale Residents & Ratepayers Association (BRRA) and supported by ZETDC, the event attracted an enthusiastic turnout of residents from Ward 18 many of whom are actively exploring solar solutions to address their energy needs.

Electrosales participated with a clear mission: to raise awareness about net metering, demonstrate the potential of solar energy solutions, and engage directly with homeowners and businesses ready to invest in a sustainable future. With electricity costs and environmental concerns on the rise, the exhibition gave us a chance to position Electrosales as not just a retailer,

but a knowledgeable and trusted advisor in energy innovation.

Our display featured a hands-on lineup of solar panels, batteries, and inverters, supported by vibrant infographics that explained how net metering allows users to feed excess energy back into the national grid. Visitors were especially interested in our live demonstrations and informal education sessions that explained how solar energy systems could be tailored to individual households and commercial properties. Many conversations revolved around how net metering reduces monthly bills while contributing to broader sustainability goals a message that clearly resonated with the forward-thinking crowd.

Throughout the event, we connected with a diverse group of potential clients, technical professionals, and even financial institutions offering solar financing solutions.

The enthusiasm was palpable. People were not only interested in our products but also appreciated our commitment to demystifying the solar journey. Their feedback gave us invaluable insights into what customers are looking for: longterm savings, energy independence, and support navigating the regulatory landscape.

The success of the exhibition reinforced Electrosales’ commitment to being at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution. We walked away with new leads, strategic connections, and a deeper understanding of our audience. Most importantly, we strengthened our role in a growing movement toward cleaner, smarter energy use. As we build on this momentum, our focus will remain on educating our community, enhancing our solar offerings, and forming partnerships that push Zimbabwe closer to a greener tomorrow.

Good Health, Sound Mind

How Wellness Fuels Mental Clarity

By Wryly Kabira

In a world where burnout is rampant and mental fog feels inevitable; the pursuit of true wellness demands more than just physical health—it requires harmony between body and mind. Studies reveal that individuals who prioritize both fitness and mental resilience experience sharper focus, greater emotional balance, and even longer lifespans. But how exactly does this synergy work? And what practical steps can we take to cultivate it?

The Body-Mind Connection: A Two-Way Street

Science confirms that physical health and mental clarity are deeply intertwined. Exercise doesn’t just build muscle it boosts brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that enhances memory and learning. Similarly, chronic stress doesn’t just weigh on the mind; it weakens immunity, disrupts digestion, and even accelerates aging. The lesson? Caring for one aspect inherently supports the other.

Pillars of Physical Wellness

Nutrient-Rich Eating – A diet high in omega-3s (found in fish, walnuts), antioxidants (berries, leafy greens), and probiotics (yogurt, kimchi) fuels brain function and gut health, which is linked to mood regulation.

Movement as Medicine – Whether it’s a 10-minute stretch or an hour-long run, exercise floods the brain with endorphins and serotonin, combating anxiety and depression.

Sleep for Restoration – During deep sleep, the brain clears toxins like beta-amyloid (linked to Alzheimer’s). Prioritizing 7–9 hours nightly isn’t a luxury—it’s cognitive maintenance.

Stress Resilience – Cortisol, the stress hormone, impairs focus when elevated long-term. Techniques like box breathing (inhale-4, hold-4, exhale-4) can reset the nervous system in minutes.

Sharpening the Mind: Beyond Physical Health

A strong body supports the mind, but mental fitness requires its own training. Consider:

• Mindfulness Practices – Just 5 minutes of meditation daily reduces amygdala (fear center) activity, fostering calm.

• Cognitive Challenges – Learning a language, playing chess, or even solving puzzles builds neural plasticity, keeping the brain agile.

• Emotional Hygiene – Negative self-talk and unresolved emotions cloud judgment. Journaling or therapy can declutter mental space.

The Forgotten Factor: Human Connection

Loneliness is as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Strong social ties lower stress, increase oxytocin (the "bonding hormone"), and even bolster immunity. Simple acts calling a friend, joining a hobby group can be as vital as any supplement.

The Virtuous Cycle: Where Health and Clarity Meet When you exercise, you sleep better. When you sleep better, focus improves. When focus improves, productivity rises, reducing stress. This positive feedback loop is the key to sustainable well-being.

A Call to Action

Wellness isn’t about perfection, it’s about small, consistent choices. Today, try:

• A 5-minute body scan meditation before bed.

• Swapping processed snacks for brain-boosting nuts or dark chocolate.

• A 20-minute walk while calling a loved one (double the benefits!).

The path to a vibrant mind and body isn’t a sprint; it’s a series of intentional steps. Start with one, and let the synergy unfold.

The Customer Journey at Electrosales Westgate -

Understanding the customer journey is of paramount for Electrosales Westgate to not only meet but exceed customer expectations. Customer journey is the path, or touch points a customer takes when interacting with a business, from initial awareness to becoming a loyal customer. At our branch, we value that an understanding of the customer journey from need recognition, store discovery, consideration of store, purchase decision and post purchase experience will help staff to offer a great service and ensure the customers will have a positive customer experience whilst the company realises increased revenue. The process of understanding this journey is crucial for Electrosales branches to improve customer experience, increase sales, and build loyalty. At Westgate, the journey begins with customers discovering our market presence as highlighted below:

1. Awareness:

We actively work to make our branch more visible and accessible to customers through a combination of digital engagement, in-store excellence, and word-of-mouth. Our strategy includes:

> Encouraging customers to explore our website and interact with our online platforms.

> Promoting word-of-mouth by consistently delivering excellent customer service.

> Sharing engaging content and blog posts via social media, and encouraging customers to join our official WhatsApp channel to stay updated on news, promotions, and product highlights.

> Using WhatsApp statuses to advertise in-store promotions in a timely and direct way.

> Ensuring our store signage is

clean, visible, and up to standard, using a dedicated checklist for regular maintenance.

> Ensuring quotation requests and general enquiries are timeously responded to by responsible staff.

> The branch engages in local community events Giving Back/Community to connect with community and fostering a sense of local connection, for example, the Village of Hope project conducted recently.

> We utilise front space at Westgate to showcase appealing product displays especially popular seasonal items, for example, gardening tools in spring and summer, heating solutions in winter, fans in summer, products on promotion etc.

2. Consideration:

Customers research products/ solutions: Once customers are aware of Electrosales Westgate, the next step is to convince them it’s the best place to fulfil their needs. This involves providing comprehensive information and building trust hence the following actions could assist:

> The branch ensures that there is a greeter at the door to welcome customer and give them information or direct them to the floor salesperson and aisles where they can get the products/ solutions they are looking for.

> The branch offers knowledgeable staff for advice and solutions.

> Offering good customers services is reiterated in daily briefings so that customers become walking marketers after getting a good customer experience (viral marketing)

> We ensure a clean, organized, and well-stocked store with clean aisles and logically arranged products in form of maintaining good housekeeping standards

through the use of a daily checklist.

> Nurturing continuous training and development by branch specialist to ensure floor salespersons offer good service and solutions to customers.

3. Decision: Streamlining the purchase at Westgate

Customers choose a product and make a purchase: This stage is all about making the purchase process as smooth and efficient as possible, ensuring a positive final impression.

> We ensure prices are well displayed and offer products benefits when communicating to the customer so that purchasing decision is not solely based on price. We encourage staff to articulate the benefits effectively.

> Optimized Till Operations- The branch regularly analyses peak times at Westgate and ensure adequate staffing at the tills to minimize queues, implement a system for calling for additional till operators when queues start forming. This creates checkout options and efficiencies so that a good customer experience is affected by long queues.

> Ensure sufficient stock levels by constantly reviewing models to match customer demand in the Westgate market.

> Visual Merchandising – We regularly refresh product displays especially on podiums and gondola ends to keep the store looking fresh and appealing whilst ensuring pricing is clear and consistent.

> It is also imperative to enable a positive customer experience through an efficient check out system of checking invoices and stock dispatch.

4. Post-Purchase: Nurturing loyalty from Westgate customers

The relationship does not end at the till or moment of transaction. Excellent post-purchase support transforms one-time buyers into loyal advocates. Customers use the product and may require support in terms of product usage, returns, exchanges, repairs, future purchases thus the following could assist:

> The branch strives to provide excellent customer service and ensuring good service beyond collecting money at the till or after invoicing by keeping relationships that goes beyond a transaction with customers.

> Ensuring return policies are followed but not impeding offering solutions to customers by being flexible and use of management discretion – the goal being to prioritize customer satisfaction, to resolve issues and not to create new ones.

> Build relationships for repeat business (constantly offering benefit cards to new customers).

> The branch also actively uses feedback to improve services.

By carefully understanding and optimizing every stage of the customer journey, Electrosales can significantly boost customer satisfaction, build long-term loyalty, and drive sustainable revenue growth while consistently delivering real value to our customers. This can be achieved through simple but impactful actions, such as responding promptly to quotation enquiries, answering inbound calls courteously and without delay, warmly greeting customers as they enter the store, offering excellent service on the shop floor, and ensuring swift, efficient service at the tills to minimize waiting times. Each of these touchpoints presents an opportunity to strengthen the customer experience and reinforce our commitment to service excellence.

From Clerk to Culture Bearer: Bonkieman’s Mbira Journey

By day, Benjamin Mehlo known in music circles as Bonkieman—serves as a dedicated Receiving Clerk at Electrosales Gweru. But beyond the warehouse, Benjamin is a passionate mbira player whose musical gift recently came to light in a remarkable way.

During preparations for the Africa Day commemorations, the Gweru branch recorded a special video performance showcasing an original Electrosales song. Leading the performance with his captivating mbira melodies was none other than Bonkieman himself instantly catching the attention of colleagues across the company.

What many didn’t know was that Benjamin’s journey with the mbira began with no prior experience. In the story below, he shares how he went from curious beginner to confident performer, using his passion to keep Zimbabwean musical heritage alive one note at a time.

I am Benjamin Mehlo, also known as Bonkieman. This is my musical journey and how I started playing the Mbira instrument. I did not come from a place where music was a luxury. Where I grew up, music was in the air, in the footsteps on dusty roads, in the clatter of dishes; in the way, we spoke to each other. However, we did not have instruments lying around or formal lessons. What we had was rhythm and heart.

My first “instrument” was my own voice. I used to hum quietly while doing chores, just to pass the time. Then came tapping on

tables, beating pots like drums turning anything I could find into something that made sound, not

knowing that one day I would become a Mbira player. I did not even realize I was making music. I just knew that these melodies made me feel alive.

The turning point came in 2019 when I heard someone playing live Mbira for the first time. I remember it clearly. It was not a famous artist just an old man at the local market playing an old Mbira. The keys danced under his thumbs.

I worked odd jobs, cleaning yards and saved every coin. Six months later, I had enough to buy my own Mbira. I taught myself what I could, watched others, listened to elders when they played at ceremonies, asked questions, practiced late into the night, and learned to let my soul sing through my thumbs. There were times I wanted to quit; times I felt I was not good enough. Nevertheless, every time I thought of stopping, music called me back. By 2020, I was able to play and sing at the same time, performing songs like Nhemamusasa, VaMudhara, and Chigwaya.

One day, I was invited to play at a church service. The elders were sceptical—a young man, self-taught. However, when I began, the room hushed. That is when I recorded my first Mbira song titled “Ndikafunga Mbungo” (Audio and Video), which reached many views on YouTube.

After that, I recorded many more songs playing Mbira titles like Ndinoda Musvohwani, Tinoda Kutenda, and Changu paChangu, among others. All of these songs are available on my YouTube channel

Bonkieman Music and on various music platforms such as Boomplay, Tidal, Shazam, and more.

I joined Electrosales Gweru in June 2022 as a Floor Salesperson and am now a Receiving Clerk. My journey did not stop because of work. After work, I play Mbira with my family, and during weekends, I record my music.

Today, when I perform, I still carry that early fire with me. My journey started with nothing but sound and soul that remains a key foundation of everything I do.

Running for a Cause: Willbroad Gurupira’s Marathon Mission of Hope

For many, running is about personal fitness or chasing a medal. But for Willbroad Gurupira, a solar expert in the Site/Maintenance Department and committed philanthropist, it’s about something far greater changing lives, one step at a time.

A passionate long-distance runner, Willbroad has participated in some of the continent’s toughest races, including the Two Oceans Marathon and the iconic Comrades Marathon. But each finish line he crosses isn’t just a personal victory it’s part of a mission to uplift the less privileged through his initiative, “Run for Hope.”

Making Every Kilometre Count

Thanks to generous sponsorships including Electrosales Willbroad’s 2024 Comrades Marathon campaign made a profound impact. Through partnerships with Hope Worldwide Zimbabwe, the funds he helped raise brought hope to those in need:

From Zipline Setback to Marathon Milestone: Richard Mukarati’s Running Journey

What started as a moment of disappointment turned into a powerful journey of transformation for Richard Mukarati, a Systems Administrator at Electrosales. Today, he’s not only running marathons, he’s running towards a healthier, more empowered version of himself.

The Turning Point

Richard’s fitness journey began unexpectedly. “I went for a zipline experience,” he recalls, “but I couldn’t go through with it because of my weight.” That moment of frustration sparked a personal mission: to reclaim his health and push his limits.

Determined to make a change, Richard dove into research and discovered that a combination of running and mindful eating could make a significant impact. He began training starting small, balancing runs with gym sessions, and building up his stamina.

Building Momentum

As his confidence grew, Richard took the next step by joining a local running club, gaining both structure and motivation from like-minded runners. “The support and accountability from the club helped me stay consistent,” he says.

Then came another game-changer—Electrosales’ SABRE “Ignite Your Productivity” training.

“The concepts from that program really clicked with me,” Richard explains. “I applied the principles to my fitness journey setting goals, staying disciplined, and pushing past mental barriers.”

Racing Toward Goals

Fuelled by this momentum, Richard began participating in formal races. His growing list of accomplishments includes the Harare Marathon, CBZ Marathon, and the Rodger Backley Half Marathon.

But his biggest achievement to date? Completing the gruelling Two Oceans Marathon in April, a renowned Ultra Marathon. “I challenged myself to meet all the entry requirements, trained hard, and saved up for the trip. I crossed the finish line in 6 hours and 30 minutes,” he says with pride.

Inspiring Others Through Action

Richard’s journey is a reminder that transformation doesn’t happen overnight—but with dedication, discipline, and the right mindset, anything is possible. From a zipline that didn’t happen to the finish line of one of Africa’s toughest marathons, he’s shown that true change begins with a single, determined step.

Dancing in the Rain, Embracing life’s challenges

We all face challenges at some points in our lives. Some are minor, while others can be quite overwhelming. It is easy to get caught up in the turmoil and feel like we are drowning. But what if we could change our perspective?

The phrase ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass, but it’s about learning how to dance in the rain’ is one of my favourite quotes. It was written by a lady named Vivian Greene, and though I do not know much about her, I have come to love this statement of hers because it is, to me, a powerful one. It teaches us that even though life is full of ups and downs, it’s not just about us focusing on them, but it is also about controlling how we respond to it all.

Dancing in the rain is a metaphor for embracing life’s challenges. It is about finding beauty even amid chaos. It is about making ourselves strong enough to smile even when we may feel down, it is about motivating ourselves enough to pull through! When we dance in the rain, we are not waiting for the storms to pass but we are living in the moment.

One may wonder how we can start dancing in the rain. There are a few things that can make this easy enough to become a way of life;

- Practice gratitude by focusing on the good things in your life, no matter how small they may seem. You must have gratitude for the blessings God always brings your way.

- Change your views on challenges so that you will take them as opportunities for growth instead of seeing them

as roadblocks. Take those lemons and make a lemonade with them!

Act by not waiting for the storms to pass. Be bold and brave by taking small steps towards your goals. It may feel scary at first, and you may feel hesitant to start, but focus on your goal and you will make it.

Find the beauty in the chaos! Open your eyes, and your heart to find the lesson life is trying to teach you. That will be the silver lining, or your opportunity for growth.

In conclusion;

Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain. As we embrace life’s challenges by practicing gratitude, changing our views on obstacles, taking action and finding the beauty in the chaos, we can then learn to dance in the rain.

So, my dear friends, the next time the storms of life come to you in a rush and knock at your door, remember to grab your umbrella and put on your rain boots. Face those storms head on as you shout, ‘Bring it!’ with a firm, brave voice then of course you go on and dance in the rain!

A Motivational Presentation on Excellent Customer Service

In today’s global market, customer satisfaction is crucial for a firm’s profitability and efficiency. It’s the key to building loyalty, driving repeat business, and boosting profits. At Electrosales, we understand that satisfied customers become loyal advocates, recommending our products and services to others. On the other hand, dissatisfaction can lead to negative-word-of-mouth and lost business.

To optimize customer service, we must listen to feedback and turn into action. Happy customer-centric employees are also essential in delivering excellent service.

By prioritizing customer satisfaction, we can increase loyalty, retention, and ultimately, profits. By focusing on customer needs and expectations, we can drive growth and stay ahead of the competition.

VIVA EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Cameron Street Gives Back to Tose Respite Care Centre

In the true spirit of compassion and community engagement, the Cameron Street Branch dedicated time and resources to a heartfelt outreach initiative at the Tose Respite Care Centre in Waterfalls on 28 December 2024. This centre provides essential services for children living with severe mental and physical disabilities, as well as rehabilitation and occupational therapy for individuals recovering from strokes, dislocations, and other injuries.

Understanding the ongoing challenges the centre faces, the Cameron Street team came prepared to make a meaningful impact. Among the items donated were a tandem brush cutter, garden rakes, protective gloves, fly traps, and a variety of groceries. The donation of the brush cutter was especially appreciated by the Tose staff, who shared that the overgrown grass during the rainy season had been a persistent issue due to the lack of proper equipment.

But the team didn’t stop at donations alone. Rolling up their sleeves, the Cameron Street staff worked together to cut the overgrown grass, clean the yard, and carry out much-needed repairs in the kitchen, including fixing faulty sinks. Their efforts brought a renewed sense of cleanliness and order to the facility, easing the daily burden on the caregivers and improving the environment for the residents.

This outreach effort by the Cameron Street Branch is a shining example of how our teams are living out the “Giving Back/Community” brick. By taking the time to support the Tose Respite Care Centre, the team demonstrated that community impact goes beyond donations it’s about showing up, lending a hand, and being present where it matters most. Initiatives like these not only uplift those in need but also strengthen our collective identity as a company committed to building better communities, one meaningful act at a time.

Zvishavane Brings Smiles to Jairos Jiri Old People’s Home

On the 1st of June 2025, the Zvishavane Branch represented Electrosales with pride and purpose through a community outreach initiative at the Jairos Jiri Old People’s Home. The team took on critical maintenance work, repairing broken and non-functional plumbing systems that had affected the daily comfort of the home’s elderly residents. In addition, they rolled up their sleeves to clear and clean the grounds, restoring dignity to the environment and creating a safer, tidier space for all.

But the impact didn’t stop there. After the work was done, the Zvishavane team spent time engaging with the residents dancing, laughing, and sharing moments of genuine connection. It was a day full of joy, compassion, and community spirit. The Chairperson of Jairos Jiri expressed deep appreciation, remarking, “This is the first time we’ve seen people come in not only to donate, but to physically contribute their time, materials, and energy. It was an extraordinary gesture that truly uplifted both the home and its residents.”

Hats off to the Zvishavane Branch for leading with heart and reminding us of all of the power of showing up, doing good, and dancing along the way.

Painting with Purpose: Mt Pleasant Branch Brings Colour to Groombridge Primary

by Fadzai Madanire

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Electrosales Mt Pleasant branch organised a school wall painting program at Groombridge Primary on the 21st of March 2025. The aim of this activity was to enhance the learning environment, promote creativity, and contribute to the beautification of the school premises while fostering teamwork and community engagement.

Our key objectives for this programme were:

- To create a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere for the students.

- To full fill the organisations mandate of ploughing back to the community under our brick giving back to the community.

- To encourage teamwork and collaboration amongst the Mt Pleasant Branch Team.

- To support educational institutions through community-driven initiatives.

- To promote art and creativity amongst the team and boost the spirit of giving and achievement.

Before the event, a team from the branch conducted a site visit to assess the school’s needs. The following preparations were made:

- Selection of the colours and types of paint to be used.

- Paperwork and authorisation of the SIGNATURE, eco-friendly paint and materials.

- Coordination with school authorities to select wall areas for painting.

- Briefing Sessions with the staff during our staff meetings as to how we intend to do the programme and how it is important for everyone to participate.

On the day of the event, all 38 staff members from the Mt Pleasant Branch showed up in full force, ready to make a difference. The front wall of the school was refreshed with a vibrant coat of light blue and white paint, instantly transforming the space. Our marketing team captured beautiful moments throughout the day, preserving the spirit of the event in photographs.

We were honoured to have Mr. Terrence Yeatman join us for the occasion. His hands-on involvement rolling up his sleeves and picking up a paintbrush served as a powerful reminder that giving back is a responsibility shared by all, regardless of title or role.

The transformation was met with overwhelming appreciation from both teachers and students, who expressed joy at the revitalized learning environment. Parents were equally enthusiastic, praising the school’s new look and expressing interest in engaging with our store for their home improvement needs.

Beyond the physical makeover, the project fostered a deeper sense of unity among our team members. Working side by side toward a meaningful cause strengthened bonds within the branch and built stronger connections between Electrosales, the school, and the surrounding community.

The school wall painting initiative was not only a visual success it was a deeply fulfilling experience. We extend our sincere gratitude to the school management, especially the Headmaster Mr. Chikoore, for their support and collaboration. A special thanks to the marketing team for their creativity and coverage, and to every dedicated team member from the Mt Pleasant Branch for their hard work. Most importantly, we thank Electrosales management for championing such a powerful initiative one that continues to bring our teams and communities closer together.

Harare Street Branch Brightens Matthew Rusike Children’s Home

On 31 May 2025, the Harare Street Branch spent the day giving back in a special way by bringing colour, care, and companionship to the Matthew Rusike Children’s Home in Epworth. The initiative was part of the branch’s ongoing community outreach efforts, aimed at improving not just physical spaces, but also creating moments of joy and connection for vulnerable children.

The team took on the task of painting a three-classroom block and the toilet facilities at the home. With fresh coats of paint, the buildings were transformed into more vibrant, welcoming spaces providing a better learning and living environment for the children and staff alike.

But the impact didn’t end with a brushstroke. After the work was done, the team spent quality time with the children, sharing a warm, home-cooked lunch prepared by the ladies of the branch. Laughter and excitement filled the air as some of the team members joined the children for a spirited game of soccer. The fun and fellowship were so heartfelt that some of the kids even asked the team to sleep over an emotional reminder of how meaningful such visits can be.

The home’s officials expressed deep gratitude for the branch’s efforts, calling the support timely and deeply appreciated.

The Harare Street Branch’s visit to Matthew Rusike Children’s Home is a testament to how small gestures can leave lasting impressions. Their hands-on approach reviving spaces with fresh paint, sharing food, and simply being present speaks to

the heart of Giving Back/Community. This initiative wasn’t just about completing a project; it was about creating moments of happiness, connection, and encouragement. By engaging directly with the children and staff, the team showed that community involvement is not just a policy it’s a passion, lived out through real relationships and meaningful action.

As an employee at Electrosales Victoria Falls, I am thrilled to share the incredible impact of our recent initiative: celebrating employees’ birthdays at the branch level. This simple yet powerful act has not only fostered a sense of unity among us but has also extended its warmth to our community.

When we first introduced the idea of monthly birthday celebrations, I could never have imagined the ripple effect it would create. Each celebration, filled with laughter, cake, and heartfelt wishes, has brought our team closer together. It’s a beautiful reminder that we’re not just coworkers but a family that supports and uplifts one another. The joy we share during these moments is infectious, and it has transformed our workplace atmosphere into one of positivity and camaraderie.

But our journey didn’t stop at the branch. Inspired by the joy of our celebrations, we took our festivities to a local old people’s home. Visiting the residents and sharing in their stories was a heartwarming experience that connected us across generations. We played games, sang songs, and, most importantly, listened to their life experiences. The smiles on their faces were priceless, and it filled us with a sense of purpose and gratitude.

Looking ahead, we are excited to expand our reach even further. This year, we aspire to bring our birthday celebrations to a nearby prison. We believe that everyone deserves to feel valued and celebrated,

regardless of their circumstances. Our goal is to spread joy and hope, creating connections even in the most challenging environments.

Each month, I find myself eagerly anticipating our next birthday celebration. The excitement is palpable, not just for the cake and festivities, but for the opportunity to come together as a team and make a difference in our community. It’s a chance to reflect on our shared values of unity, compassion, and service, and to remind ourselves of the powerful impact we can make when we come together.

In closing, I am proud to be part of a team that embraces these celebrations with open hearts. The joy we create within our branch and in the community is a testament to the spirit of Electrosales Victoria Falls. Together, we are not just celebrating birthdays; we are celebrating life, love, and the bonds that connect us all. Here’s to many more celebrations ahead!

Welcome To The Family

Graduations Poem

LIFE a delightful test!!

We rise like eagles, we stand tall and free, We run, we spread our wings and fly

We fall like dew, we kneel, we crawl, We restructure, we find our best we quest, In the midst of it all one thing remain constant Fire within, a flame that won’t cease, The fire spirit of a fierce warrior unashamed, Guiding thy through LIFE release

With every triumph tasting like setting an ancestor free from the shackles of slavery, A potent symbol of liberation.

As fortune smiles, We seize the moment and unleash thy mighty letting thy spirit full potential release for the world waits for none

Balance

by Mufaro Maturure

The phenomenon of self-doubt is a significant barrier to achieving personal equilibrium; its impact can be profoundly unsettling. Recently, I encountered a pronounced episode of insomnia and restlessness, marked by an ongoing struggle to identify a focal point for my reflections and to allocate my time effectively. The challenge lay in balancing professional commitments with personal responsibilities in pursuit of a coherent structure for my productivity. This experience underscored a palpable deficiency in my sense of equilibrium. The aspiration to harmonize the various components of my existence professional endeavours, personal life, and overall environment emphasizes the complexity of attaining what is often termed Work-Life Balance. While the concept may appear straightforward, the execution is fraught with difficulties.

This piece explores the relatable challenge of juggling work and personal life, aiming to help each of us appreciate and apply these insights to our daily routines. Work-life balance is about achieving a sustainable equilibrium between professional responsibilities and personal well-being. By prioritizing both aspects, we can attain fulfilment and reduce stress.

Signs of Imbalance:

1.Stagnation is a significant problem as it hinders healthy functioning. It involves feeling stuck in your finances, work position, or environment. Stagnation indicates that all movement, both internal and external, has ceased.

2.Negative thinking can lead to a decline in the quality of your thought life. Your balance may be undermined when your thoughts focus on the most negative interpretations of a situation. If you work an 8-to-5 job, you might start to think that the grass is greener elsewhere, causing you to feel unappreciative of your current circumstances.

This mindset prevents you from recognizing and valuing what you have achieved so far.

3.Lack of Vision - When our sense of purpose, calling, and significance begins to fade, we often experience inconsistency at work. The enthusiasm and energy we initially brought to our jobs slowly deteriorate, impacting our energy levels at home as well. Fatigue gradually sets in, leading to a decline in creativity and an overwhelming sense of burnout. We lose our sense of direction, which manifests in disorganization; we stop planning our days or weeks, refuse to take accountability, and may not even care if our children leave for school with enough food or dressed appropriately. We may become unaware of important events, such as our child’s recital, and may not even consider whether we will attend.

“Balance is not something you find, it is something you create, - Jana Kingsford. Statistically, from surveys done, 72% believe a healthy work–life balance is crucial. 78% of women say this balance is essential to career choices, compared to 67% of men. 25% of employees say they never or rarely take time off from work. However, it is essential to have time for both. During the day, work hard, finish your tasks and do your best. Also, when work is over, remember it is time for life, and that is when that boundary is not being crossed and you are on the other side for personal life to spend time with family and friends, having fun together at your hobbies that you love, church, sport, etc.

Overcoming Challenges to Work-Life Balance.

1.Set realistic goals—Establish achievable goals for both work and personal life to avoid overcommitting. This will help enhance your productivity throughout the day or week.

2.Limit technology use—Create a tech-free zone or times, especially during personal or family time, to reduce interruptions and improve focus. Consider engaging in a hobby and making time for it. It helps reduce stress levels. You could join a football team, a book club, walk, or a gym.

3.Take breaks—Regularly take breaks throughout the work day to recharge and prevent burnout. Take a tea break, a smoke break, or a lunch break, and you will return re-energized. Avoid overworking yourself, and do what you can or share tasks with a fellow workmate.

4.Prioritize Sleep and Nutrition—Ensure you get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet, as these are essential for physical and mental well-being. I hope that every one of you fellow readers does not get stuck in a place of Imbalance and drown in it for good. Please take it as an achievement or an era of you being the best version of yourself, at the workplace and in your personal life.
