How confident are you that your organization is meeting today’s compliance requirements while staying prepared for what comes next?

As regulations continue to evolve across industries, maintaining compliance has become increasingly complex and time-consuming. Many organizations struggle to keep up with changing standards, documentation requirements and security expectations while also focusing on daily operations. Compliance as a Service offers a more efficient and proactive approach.
With ALLO’s Compliance as a Service, businesses gain ongoing support to assess risk, manage regulatory requirements and maintain proper documentation year-round. Rather than just reacting to audits or security incidents, organizations benefit from continuous monitoring, structured processes and expert guidance designed to reduce exposure and improve preparedness.
Cybersecurity and data protection play a central role in compliance efforts. Compliance as a Service helps organizations align with frameworks such as HIPAA, GDPR, NIST, PCI, CMMC and more by identifying gaps, implementing controls and validating safeguards. This approach reduces security risks while strengthening overall operational resilience.
Cost predictability is another key advantage. Instead of relying on one-time assessments or internal teams stretched thin, organizations receive consistent support through clearly defined services. This helps reduce unexpected expenses, avoid compliance failures and improve insurance outcomes.
At ALLO Business, Compliance as a Service is delivered by a local, 24/7 team focused on simplifying compliance while supporting long-term business growth.

Summer tends to shift the rhythm of a home. With kids out of school, more time spent indoors, and family visiting, spaces naturally see more use and require more consistent upkeep.

New Start Cleaning works with households across Lincoln and surrounding areas to adjust cleaning routines based on what their summer actually looks like. For some, that means staying ahead of high-traffic areas. For others, it’s keeping their home ready for guests without the stress of last-minute cleaning.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, the team focuses on consistency and flexibility, helping clients maintain their space in a way that fits their schedule. From residential homes to commercial spaces, New Start Cleaning provides customized plans that reflect each client’s needs and budget.
As routines change throughout the season, having a reliable cleaning team allows households to focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying their time, whether that’s hosting, staying busy with kids, or simply keeping things running smoothly day to day.

EPIC Option has launched a statewide campaign to give Nebraskans a direct voice in reshaping the state’s tax system. This proposed constitutional amendment would allow you to live in your own home without having to pay the government, keep more money in your paycheck, and leave your legacy to your children and grandchildren—putting the power back in the hands of the people.
Recent increases in property valuations have placed financial strain on many Nebraskans. This simple, grassroots approach gives voters a direct voice, and the opportunity to create lasting change. EPIC offers a clear, achievable path forward while ensuring Nebraska continues to fund essential services through sales and excise taxes.
The best part? This can be done—simply and together.
Step
If just 8,000 Nebraskans donate $250 each, the campaign reaches its goal. Visit axNEtax.com to contribute. Larger donations are guaranteed a refund if the goal is not met—contact EPIC for more details.
Supporters will earn $10 per signature. A $250 donation can be earned back by collecting only 25 signatures. If each donor does just that, the job is done—and EPIC earns a place on the 2028 ballot.
Step
No special interests. No complicated system. Just people working together.
Yes—it really is that simple.
We need EPIC because THEY WON’T — WE WILL.
For more information, visit axNEtax.com or contact Campaign Chair Mark Bonkiewicz at (402) 490-8612.
The following is a statement from the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce regarding a proposed measure going before the Lincoln City Council regarding minimum wage standards.

“The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce has long held positions against using minimum wage increases to increase the standard of living. Rather, the Lincoln Chamber supports policies and programs that induce economic growth, which creates market-based salary and wage increases. This free enterprise approach will enable sustainable wage and standard of living enhancements over time.
Whether it is this specific proposal before the Lincoln City Council, the recent voter approved minimum wage standard or other policies, the impact is the same. Small businesses are harmed, and by extension, so are their employees and their customers.
The post-COVID competition for labor pushed salaries, wages and benefits at rates not experienced in decades. In response, many employers across the nation increased wages far in excess of the current, state-wide minimum wage. This includes sectors such as healthcare, financials, manufacturing, professional services, information technology and more.
Small businesses were impacted. Raising the minimum wage in Lincoln will only put more pressure on industry sectors that residents want to see grow. For example: restaurants, independent retailers, coffee shops, early childhood care and daycare centers and housing construction. Policies like this risk limiting opportunities for high school age students seeking a first job, and internships for college age students. These are the very people whom we want to engage early and foster as future residents. If Lincoln is to remain competitive and continue attracting and retaining talent, it must support policies that foster job creation and early workforce opportunities—not limit them.”

One powerful way to enhance leadership in your family is to create intentional conversations during everyday experiences. Whether traveling, attending swimming lessons, enjoying family picnics, vacations, stay-cations, or community events, these moments can become opportunities for connection and growth.
Ask thoughtful questions such as:
• What was the best part of your day?
• What is something you would love to learn or try?
• What excites you about that idea?
• What would you do first to begin this adventure or dream?
• How can we encourage someone else this week?
The key is to listen without judging, correcting or diminishing the answers. Leadership grows when family members feel safe to share ideas, dreams and thoughts openly. Encouraging curiosity and conversation builds confidence, trust and emotional connection. When people feel heard and valued, they are more willing to grow, lead and support others.
Simple conversations can create lasting impact. Families who intentionally communicate often develop stronger relationships, healthier confidence and greater leadership influence both at home and within their communities and workplaces. Looking for more ideas or questions? Email grow@leadershipharbor.com or visit leadershipharbor.com.

Doors open at 10:30am and the event will be held from 11:30am to 1pm.

This year’s luncheon features several notable milestones. For the first time, BBB will present a Torch Award dedicated to woman-owned businesses, recognizing the growing role of women entrepreneurs in building ethical marketplaces. The Nebraska Chamber Foundation released a comprehensive study on the state’s energy use and capacity, highlighting issues to address for Nebraska to become a forward-looking, energy-ready state for the next generation of growth.
Following months of data-collecting, analysis, and stakeholder feedback, the report From Demand to Delivery: Energy, Infrastructure and Powering Nebraska’s Growth, highlights the need for utility and economic development partnerships, and the need for a state-level strategy to support energy development. The report provides dozens of data points and charts showing data demand growth, delivery schemes and interconnectedness across energy sources.
Four key themes are outlined at the report’s conclusion:
• State-level stewardship is vital for Nebraska to attract energy investment to facilitate economic development
• Local permitting presents one of the largest uncertainties and bottlenecks in development, often hindering investment
• Nebraska has an attractive investment environment, with competitive advantages that help generate interest in developing energy projects
• Nebraska’s public power model represents a strategic advantage for the state, along with distinct opportunities and responsibilities Nebraskans can read the report and bring their ideas to future conversations and scheduled events during the Go Big Future series found at gobigfuture.com, which is underway.

Many small business owners struggle to keep enough money in the bank, even when sales are good. Bryan Todd is on a mission to fix that.
“You can have a great product and still go broke if you don’t manage your cash,” Bryan says. “I show Lincoln business owners how to find the money they’ve already earned but haven’t kept.”
Bryan shares 5 simple tips:

1. Look 13 Weeks Ahead: Every Friday, map out exactly what is coming in and going out each week for the next three months. No more payroll surprises.
2. Kill “Zombie” Bills: Print your bank statement. If you see a monthly charge for a tool you don’t use, cancel it immediately.
3. Get Paid Faster: Don’t let customers wait 60 days to pay you. Aim for 30 days or less. Ask your suppliers for longer payment windows.
4. Save for a Rainy Day: Each month set aside cash in a “war chest” that aims to cover 3 full months of bills.
5. Get a Loan Now: Apply for a line of credit while your business is healthy, not when you’re desperate.
Bryan offers a free 30-Minute Cash Flow Health Check over Zoom. To sign up, email bryan@bryantodd.net or call (402) 560-3502.

Why has my Medicare Supplement gotten so expensive?!
Spring brings many things – warmer weather, bird song, thunderstorms and for many on Medicare it means facing an annual rate increase for their Medicare Supplement premiums. There are many reasons why Medicare Supplements are increasing between 15-30% this year.

The Covid effect. During Covid, there were many elective procedures that were put on hold. When these procedures were finally performed, they were often more extensive and expensive.
Baby Boomers. This year marks the end of Baby Boomers entering Medicare; therefore, there is the largest demographic ever on Medicare.
The Medicare Advantage effect . In the past 10-15 years, commissions for signing folks up for Advantage plans have been much higher than those for Medicare Supplements. This caused certain agents to not even present the option of getting a Supplement to enrollees or only enrolling those with considerable health problems on Medicare Supplements. This has created a smaller and less healthy group of enrollees with Medicare Supplements, which also creates greater rate increases.
Claim stacking. Because coverage is so good with Supplements, some providers will “stack” as many claims as possible during a hospital stay or procedure. Because members do not pay extra for these charges, they rarely review or question them.
These factors, however, do not diminish the great benefits a Medicare Supplement offers such as low risk of medical expense, no networks, nationwide access to providers and the rare need of pre-authorization for medical procedures. For healthier individuals with Medicare Supplements, the opportunity to shop for better rates can be done at any time of the year. There are other Supplement plans that may offer fewer benefits for lower premiums that may be attractive options before considering an Advantage plan.
For individuals facing rate increases that are no longer financially sustainable and who are unable to pass medical underwriting to get a less expensive Supplement, it may be necessary to consider switching to a Medicare Advantage plan in the fall during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15th – December 7th.
If you or someone you know is facing these rate increases this spring and in need of help to navigate or update their Medicare choices, contact the licensed insurance agents at On Point Insurance Agency – we are ready to help!

Foundry Members, OutNebraska and Star City Pride recently came together to host a community sports event that was about far more than the games played.
All Out Sports Day was a fun gathering but also a demonstration of what’s possible when organizations show up for Nebraska’s LGBTQ+ community together.

Attendees tried their hand at a variety of activities, and OutNebraska and Star City Pride were on hand to educate and connect folks with resources and support. At a time when transgender and gender nonconforming people face mounting legislative and cultural attacks, events like this push back with something simple yet powerful, an affirming environment.
“The biggest impact of the event was to help show the community that we are working to make space for and encourage affirming and positive sports,” noted Bailee Martin, OutNebraska Community Organizer.
The ease with which this collaboration bloomed is no accident. These organizations not only share values but physical space. Both are part of our coworking community here at the Foundry. When you’re working out of the same building, relationships deepen, conversations happen organically and partnerships form faster.
The Foundry has become something of a home base for missiondriven work in Lincoln and the connection between OutNebraska and Star City Pride is a natural example of what that kind of community can produce.
Proximity fosters trust and trust makes collaboration like this one possible.
To learn more about the Foundry Community’s coworking model, resources and space, please visit thefoundry.co or email hello@ thefoundry.co.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Capitol Rotunda, the performance was both uplifting and memorable, with voices echoing beautifully throughout the historic space.

Willard Community Center is grateful for the generous $25,000 grant from the Woods Charitable Fund in support of the organization’s expansion of its Early Explorers program to include infant and toddler care. The expansion will add licensed care for 8 infants (6 weeks–18 months) beginning this summer and 12 toddlers (18months–3 years) beginning in the fall, helping address Lincoln’s growing shortage of childcare for children under age three. In recent years, multiple childcare center closures across the city have significantly reduced available childcare capacity, creating challenges for working families seeking reliable, high-quality care.
Willard Community Center became a licensed childcare provider in 1980 and currently operates preschool (3-5 years), school-age before & after school programming, and all-day summer programming. The organization also recently expanded its Adult and Senior Program, creating opportunities for increased intergenerational engagement between young children and older adults.

Nebraska Diaper Bank (NDB) has partnered with Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties (Community Action) to integrate diaper distribution into their home-based Head Start program, expanding access to essential resources for local families.

With 1 in 3 Nebraskan families struggling to afford enough diapers, this partnership places a critical need directly into the hands of Community Action family educators. During in-home visits, educators now distribute diapers to families already enrolled in the program, eliminating the need for parents to seek out additional support and ensuring help is delivered through trusted relationships.
Family educators work one-on-one with families, and with diapers on hand, can now meet immediate needs in real time. This approach not only provides a basic necessity but also supports early childhood development by reducing household stress and helping babies stay clean, healthy, and ready to learn.
“Diaper need is often an unseen barrier for families,” said Tegan Reed, NDB Executive Director. “By equipping family educators with diapers, we’re able to reach families right where they are and remove a significant stressor during those first few critical years.”
In 2025, NDB distributed more than 470,000 diapers in Lincoln and over 3.6 million statewide. The organization now partners with two agencies in Lincoln and supports approximately 580 babies each month.
Each child receives 60 to 80 diapers per month, helping them stay clean, dry, and healthy through age three.

After months of research, Keep Nebraska Beautiful is thrilled to release the most comprehensive data on litter in America— and the findings are incredibly encouraging.

Litter across U.S. roadways and waterways is down 34% since 2020. Every American’s share dropped from 152 pieces to 96. This is proof that when communities work together, real change happens.
But our work is far from done—35 billion pieces of litter remain. The study shows us exactly where we need to focus next, and with America’s 250th birthday approaching, there has never been a better time to finish what we started.
Dive into the data and discover what’s working across the country.

As more families and individuals turn to Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach for food assistance, the agency is asking the community for help restocking its Fresh Choice Pantry.
The Fresh Choice Pantry, located adjacent to Matt Talbot’s main building, is designed to resemble a small grocery store where guests can select items at no cost. The pantry offers refrigerated items such as meat, produce and dairy products, as well as canned and boxed goods.

The pantry is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 – 3 p.m., and on Thursdays from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Pre-packaged pantries with shelf stable food are also available when the pantry is closed.
While fresh food supplies are currently stable, Matt Talbot is in immediate need of canned meats, hearty soups and cereal.
“Nearly 100 households are turning to our pantry each week to help put food on the table,” said Alynn Sampson, Executive Director. “We are committed to showing up for every family who needs support, and community donations help ensure our shelves stay stocked and ready.”
Businesses, community groups and individuals can help by hosting a food drive or dropping off donations Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

In 2006, Angels Among Us began as a grassroots organization to support families affected by pediatric cancer. Over the last 20 years, they have grown to provide financial and emotional support to ensure no one walks their journey alone… and they’re just getting started.

AAU is the only organization in the region providing long term sustained financial support to pediatric cancer families. Nebraska ranks #1 in the Midwest and #7 in the nation for incidences of pediatric cancer per capita, making AAU’s mission critical to the state.
Financial assistance is provided to families through critical bill payments, such as rent, mortgage, utilities and car payments. These bills are made on behalf of families for the duration of their child’s critical treatment plan directly to the creditor to ensure funds are used for their intended purpose. AAU also provides emotional support programs at no cost to families, including family wide connection events, support and bereavement groups in partnership with Collective for Hope, in-patient meals and a voucher program with Children’s Nebraska, family kits and more.
In 2025, AAU served 123 families with over $890,000 and over 1,200 emotional support program touchpoints. As AAU celebrates its 20th anniversary, they celebrate another milestone: providing over $1 million in financial assistance in a year for the first time.
Since 2006, AAU has served over 850 pediatric cancer families with over $6 million in financial assistance. Help Angels Among Us celebrate their 20th anniversary by visiting www.myangelsamongus. org or contacting Ashley at ashley@myangelsamongus.org or by calling (402) 934-0999.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening as Fresh Start presents Project Funway: The Final Walk on Friday, October 30 at The Cornhusker Marriott. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a night of creativity, community and celebration.

For over a decade, Project Funway has been more than a fashion show, it has been a powerful symbol of transformation. Much of that impact has been made possible through the incredible partnership with students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Textiles, Merchandising & Fashion Design (TMFD) program. Their talent, innovation and dedication have helped bring this event to life year after year.
Due to the loss of funding for UNL’s TMFD program, this year’s event will mark the FINAL WALK for Project Funway. While this chapter is coming to a close, Fresh Start is committed to honoring the legacy, creativity and heart that these students have poured into this event, and the lives they have helped uplift along the way.
Join them as they celebrate the final runway, reflect on years of impact and continue supporting Fresh Start’s mission of empowering women on their journey to independence.

This summer, Big Brothers Big Sisters invites Lincoln to make a difference in a young person’s life by becoming a mentor. The organization is highlighting summer as a great time to start volunteering as a Big, especially when many children are still waiting to be matched.

“Summer is the perfect time to get involved,” said Kyle Bishop, Recruitment & Events Coordinator of BBBS Lincoln. “Our community is home to many fun activities, and with kids out of school, Lincolnites have an opportunity to connect with young people and create moments that bring a lifelong impact while having fun!”
Bigs and Littles spend time together doing everyday things. Examples include going for walks, getting ice cream, playing games, or attending local events. These one-to-one relationships have been shown to boost confidence, improve academic success, and provide a critical support system for youth.
BBBS currently has 24 Littles waiting for a Big in Lincoln, and the number is expected to grow in the summer. Their greatest needs are for male-identifying and BIPOC mentors.
Mentors commit just four hours a month, and BBBS provides training, resources, and ongoing support throughout your volunteer experience. The process is simple, and the rewards are lasting. Be a child’s friend this summer. Apply at BBBSMidlands.org.

May was a busy month for Disrupting Traffick. They kicked off the month with a family friendly Putting for a Purpose event at Adventure Golf, bringing the community together to spread awareness about the work that they do to prevent and support survivors of human trafficking in Nebraska.
They have hosted Fashion for Freedom events through Strictly Business Owner, Paige Zutavern, where a garage sale is turned into a boutique like setting and proceeds benefit women served in shelter.
May was also the reintroduction of an agency Vision Tour with Founder and Executive Director, Brooke Carlson. Each month, a tour is offered at their resource center location, 1625 N Street, where the community is invited to tour their space, learn about the current impact Disrupting Traffick is making as well as how our community members can join the movement.
Local luxury brand boutique, STATUS, hosted a Sip and See event at their Haymarket location. The event gave shoppers an opportunity to support Disrupting Traffick through in-kind donations and shop owner, Cassie, gave a percentage back from all sales made that night to Disrupting Traffick.
Other events included the Elite Referral Network’s non-profit games, Give to Lincoln Day through the Lincoln Community Foundation and Kevin’s Monthly Missions.
If you are interested in learning more about the services that Disrupting Traffick provides, joining a Vision Tour, or hosting an event of your own, please contact Nichole Palmer at nichole@ disruptingtraffick.org.
Ignite Lincoln 17 was more than just a few speakers on a stage, it put local nonprofits and leaders in conversation with each other.
The event, led by The Foundry in collaboration with the Firespring Foundation and E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues, brought together speakers from all walks of life to share meaningful insights on this year’s theme of Belonging.

The result was a single room where Lincoln’s full range of voices were not just present, but genuinely heard, all while supporting the community’s mission-driven work. Little did they know their impact would reach the classroom.
Nonprofits shared a space with businesses. Professionals sat alongside students. Local leaders and first-time speakers faced the same clock and the same audience. That shared constraint stripped away the usual barriers of title and tenure and replaced them with something more valuable, mutual curiosity.

School Community Intervention & Prevention (SCIP), a program of Lincoln Medical Education Partnership, will host its fourth Drug Impairment Training for Education Professionals (DITEP) on June 23 and 24 at the Lincoln Medical Education Partnership (4600 Valley Road). DITEP is intended to provide school administrators, nurses and resource officers with a systematic approach to recognizing and evaluating individuals in the academic environment who are abusing and impaired by drugs to provide early recognition and intervention.
This training is facilitated by Drug Recognition Experts from the Lincoln Police Department and supported by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. Thanks to these partnerships, there is no cost to attend DITEP. However, pre-registration is required. For registration information, visit scipnebraska.com or call (402) 327-6843. Registration is limited!
SCIP is a program designed to bring together families, school and the community to support student behavioral and emotional health.
SCIP is funded (16% or $50,000) from the Strategic Prevention Framework-Partnerships for Success States grant (5H79SP083671-02) & (55% or $168,837.71) from the Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant (1B08TIO88119-01 through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, contracted through the NE DHHS, Div. of Behavioral Health. SCIP also receives (3% or $10,000) in state funding and (26% or $82,110) of funding from non-governmental sources, including United Way of Lincoln Lancaster County.
Collaboration at Ignite Lincoln didn’t just happen on the stage, it happened because of it. When a longtime community organizer and a college sophomore both speak honestly about what they care about, the audience is left with new connections they wouldn’t have made anywhere else.
Nebraska Wesleyan Business Communications student Gracie Ensrud wrote about Ignite Lincoln for an assignment in Dr. Randy Bretz’s course, saying:
“There was an atmosphere of encouragement and curiosity. People were not only listening but actively engaging. Many were laughing, reacting and later networking with one another. It demonstrated how powerful it can be when a community gathers to share ideas and support innovation. The event highlighted the importance of local involvement and showed that meaningful inspiration does not always come from national stages and that it can begin right here in Lincoln.”
That’s Ignite Lincoln’s quiet power. It doesn’t program collaboration, it creates the conditions for it.
By gathering Lincoln’s nonprofits, professionals, educators and changemakers under one roof, Ignite 17 turned an evening of presentations into an engine for community.

Keep Nebraska Beautiful (KNB), a Nebraska nonprofit dedicated to enhancing, preserving, and beautifying Nebraska, hosted its inaugural KNB Trivia Night Fundraiser, a high-energy evening of community engagement, friendly competition and environmental impact on on Earth Day, April 22, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Johnny’s Café in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a smashing success!
The fundraiser raised over $9800 and had multiple teams competing in friendly competition for a great cause. The night was full of cheering and heated debate over correct answers to trivia questions while players snacked on Johnny’s Cafe’s appetizers and bid on exciting silent auction prizes in-between rounds. Teams played seven rounds of trivia with an emphasis on Earth Day related categories until Trivia Host, Kahm Broham, determined winners for first place, second place, and a third place with a bonus prize for the last place team. Proceeds from the event will directly support KNB’s hands-on environmental programs across the state. These programs play a vital role in reducing waste, protecting natural resources, and fostering community pride in both rural and urban areas.
Keep Nebraska Beautiful wants to thank everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered or spread the word about their inaugural trivia event. None of it could have been possible without your support! More information is available at knb.org/trivia-night.
During National CPR and AED Awareness Week, June 1–7, the American Heart Association is calling on everyone to become part of the Nation of Lifesavers™ by learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and how to respond quickly in an emergency.

Each year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of hospitals, and nearly 3 out of 4 happen at home. Immediate action can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival. Yet many bystanders hesitate. Learning simple, effective skills like Hands-Only CPR can make all the difference.
“Anyone can save a life,” said Chris Shives, Executive Director, American Heart Association-Nebraska. “If you see a teen or adult collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.”
AEDs are also critical, but awareness remains low—only about half of employees know where to find one at work. These devices provide step-by-step prompts and can help restore a normal heart rhythm.
In Omaha and Lincoln, residents can take preparedness a step further by downloading the PulsePoint Respond and PulsePoint AED apps, which alert nearby users to cardiac emergencies and show the location of the closest AED.
The American Heart Association encourages individuals, families and workplaces to get trained and be ready. Learn more at heart. org/nation.

The 14th Annual YMCA Youth Sports Adventure Run returns Saturday, July 4, at Wright Park, inviting families to spend part of their holiday weekend running, climbing, and sliding through a two-mile obstacle course while supporting local families.

“We encourage the entire family to walk or run the course together,” said Todd Johnson, executive director of YMCA Youth Sports. “Not only is it a chance for families to take part in a morning of healthy activities, but in doing so, they’re giving back to our community.”
The family-friendly event, hosted by YMCA Youth Sports, welcomed more than 200 runners and their families last year. Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Lincoln’s Annual Fundraising Campaign, which helps ensure children and families can access YMCA memberships and programs regardless of financial circumstances. Funds raised through the event help local children participate in YMCA programs including youth sports, swim lessons and summer day camp.
Participants may register for one of three start times: 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Registration is $20 per participant, increasing by $5 after June 22. Participants registered by June 21 are guaranteed an event T-shirt.

The HUB Central Access Point for Young Adults is honored to announce that they were selected as a Top 5 Finalist in the Community Health Endowment Idea Challenge for their innovative Guaranteed Cosigner Program.

For many young adults transitioning out of foster care, securing safe and stable housing is one of the greatest barriers to independence. Even when a young person has employment and the ability to pay rent, they are often denied housing opportunities because they lack established credit history, rental references or a adult who can cosign.
The program is designed to provide qualifying young adults with access to housing opportunities. Beyond helping remove barriers to leasing, the program focuses on financial literacy, tenant education, and ongoing support services that empower young adults to build stability and self-sufficiency.
By investing in supportive pathways to stable housing, we are investing in healthier futures for young adults in our community.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Community Health Endowment for recognizing the importance of this work and for creating opportunities to elevate innovative community solutions,” said Rose Hood Buss, HUB Executive Director. “This recognition reinforces the need for continued collaboration and support for young adults navigating the transition out of foster care.”
While The HUB’s Guarantee Cosigner Fund was not the challenge winner, they are proud to stand alongside other organizations working to strengthen the health and wellbeing of our community.

Beginning in February, Hearts United for Animals became aware of a potential animal hoarding situation in Auburn, Nebraska. After concerned community members and local authorities were alerted, the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department partnered with HUA in April to safely remove more than 30 cats and 12 dogs from the property.
Upon rescue, all animals required immediate medical attention. HUA staff provided vaccinations, testing, medications, grooming and spay/neuter services. Several animals were severely underweight and living in unsanitary conditions, including seven puppies that had been separated from their mother. Two dogs also tested positive for Giardia and began treatment immediately.
The rescued animals are currently receiving ongoing care through HUA and partner organizations while the case remains under investigation by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department. The animals will not be available for adoption while the case is ongoing. HUA remains committed to providing medical care, nourishment and safe shelter for as long as necessary. Community support and donations help make this lifesaving care possible as expenses for food, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation continue to grow.
HUA extends its gratitude to the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department for its continued partnership and dedication to animal welfare in the community.
More information on HUA is available at hua.org.
Summer is here and so are Bright Lights summer camps... but it’s not too late to still get in on the fun! You can register for one of their week-long summer camps up until one week before the camp week starts.

They have many great camp topics still available for all ages (including Twinkles, their new Pre-K camp!) where students can be challenged with hands-on activities and spend the week learning about something they find interesting. Camps can fit into almost any schedule-- even around other activities or sports-- as most run for three hours either in the morning or afternoon, Monday through Friday. (But there are full-day camps as well!)
Why is summer learning important for students? There’s lot of reasons! Learning a new skill can boost your student’s self-esteem and confidence. It can also lead to the discovery of a new hobby or a desire to learn more about a topic when school resumes. And having a planned activity during the day can also help students decrease screen time. Plus they can meet new friends with similar interests!
To see all the Bright Lights camps available for this summer, visit brightlights.org/camps and sort by the grade your student was in as of March 2026.
And a heads up: Bright Lights hires their teachers in the Fall. So if you’re interested in teaching for them NEXT summer, visit brightlights. org/teachers to learn more and get on their contact list.

When an emergency strikes, there’s no pause button and no time to second-guess what to do next. In those critical moments, action matters, con dence matters. And that’s exactly where New View Training shines.
At its core, New View Training delivers high-quality CPR, rst aid, emergency preparedness, and safety education for workplaces, medical and dental o ces, caregivers, and everyday community members. But what truly sets this organization apart isn’t just what they teach, it’s how they teach it.

Training shouldn’t feel intimidating, overwhelming, or cookie-cutter, and at New View Training, it doesn’t. Each class is designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored speci cally to the people in the room. Rather than relying on memorization alone, the focus is on real understanding. That means participants leave not just with a certi cation, but with something far more powerful: genuine con dence in their ability to respond calmly and e ectively when it matters most.
New View Training operates with a clear and purposeful vision: “Learning for Life.”
Their mission extends beyond the classroom to creating a culture of preparedness. One where individuals feel empowered to act as a vital link in the chain of survival, strengthening the safety and resilience of the entire community.

At its heart, New View Training is about people. Every class represents an opportunity to shift how someone sees themselves, not just as a learner, but as someone capable of stepping in and making a di erence in a crisis. This training makes a di erence, to the learners, and to the community!
The results of their unique approach to providing this life saving training speak volumes. New View Training has recently surpassed 100 ve-star reviews on Google, re ecting both the quality of instruction and the experience participants walk away with.
One learner shared: “I highly recommend New View for any sort of certi cation training. I’ve completed BLS, ACLS, and PALS here. I regularly run codes in the hospital and cover ERs as a provider, and I use the tips they teach all the time.” – NVT Student
For founder Bethany Clark, the mission is deeply personal: “I started New View Training because people don’t rise to the level of a certicate, they rise to the level of their con dence. When someone leaves our class believing they can handle an emergency, that’s when we’ve truly done our job.” – Bethany Clark, Owner & Trainer
That philosophy carries through every aspect of the program. It’s echoed by manager Nicole Dempsey, who emphasizes the importance of understanding, not just doing:
“At New View Training, we don’t just teach checklists, we build life-changing skills and the con dence to use them. When people understand the “why” behind what they’re learning, they become calmer and more capable when it matters most. If we can make registration simple, the class engaging, and the hands-on skills memorable, we’ve done our job.” – Nicole Dempsey, Manager
New View Training’s impact extends far into the community. The organization is committed to making families safer and strengthening the response capabilities of healthcare professionals across the region. They proudly partner with local organizations such as: Spirit Horse Ranch, Adaptive Crossroads, Omaha Impact Awards, and 50 Mile March and consider themselves Community Partners in many other ways as well.
One of those includes the launch of their own program “Home Is Where the Heart Is, A Community Safety Initiative.” This forward-thinking program partners with local real estate agents to expand access to CPR training and increase the availability of AEDs throughout the community. Take a class today … Because when more people are prepared, more lives can be saved!

Lifetime Stone Restoration has the experience, the equipment and the talent to restore any home or business to look like new.
In business since 2008, Lifetime Stone Restoration can diamond refinish floors, counter tops, showers and any other materials made of granite, marble, terrazzo, or limestone to make them look new again. They also fix chips, cracks and dullness found in stone.
When they clean ceramic tile and grout, they can change the color of the grout without removing it, giving your space a clean and refreshed look for half the cost of replacing tile or flooring. When restoring showers, they remove soap and mildew and re-caulk bases and corners.
Because they are not a franchise, they can change their process to best fit whatever project they are working on. More than a janitorial company, their work on stone is done using natural restoration processes, versing just applying a wax.
Here’s what customers are saying about Lifetime Stone Restoration:
“Don brought my 60-year-old marble entryway back to life. We never realized it could look so great. Don was so knowledgeable and professional. He certainly takes pride in his work and I would definitely recommend Lifetime Stone Restoration.” – Cindy
“Don did a wonderful job on my granite kitchen counter tops. He cleaned, polished, sealed and even restored an area by my sink that was in bad shape. Don’s a true professional and did exactly what he promised. He was on time for both the estimate and when he came to do the job. I highly recommend Lifetime Stone Restoration–thanks Don!” – Meg
“Don did a fabulous job cleaning and resealing the tile in our home. The color match on the new caulking in the kitchen is excellent and the precision he used was outstanding. He is very professional from the first time you speak to him through the bidding and completion of the job. He had an assistant the day he came to our home so was able to finish the job quicker than he’d promised. I highly recommend him for the job he did in our home!” – Deb
“Don did a GREAT job of making the ugly, unevenly colored grout in our entryway look better than new. We were spared the expense, mess and inconvenience of jack-hammering out the old tile because he made it look so good. Very professional, arrived promptly, was courteous and kind. Couldn't be happier with the results.” – Laura

Those results mean in District 1 we will have a different representative on the Board of Regents and a different Secretary of State.
LIBA is working on getting the candidates for congress (Chris Backemeyer and Mike Flood), regent (Jeremy Hosein and Brent Comstock) and secretary of state (Sarah Slattery and Scott Peterson) in the same room for a luncheon debate.
Also - thank you Tim Claire!!! Tim Claire has served the voters in District 1 on the UNL Board of Regents for almost 2 decades!
It’s never too soon to be scheduling GOLF.
Our annual LIBA Golf Tournament is just around the corner—we are firming up details, but we are tentatively scheduled for early September. Details and online registration for teams and hole sponsorship will be announced soon.
Remember—you do not have to be a LIBA member to check things out. Guests are always welcome—and we’ll even cover lunch for first-time attendees.

For 110 years, FNIC’s team of over 320 employees has worked alongside businesses, families and individuals as an insurance and risk management partner focused on long-term relationships and thoughtful guidance. As an independent agency and broker, FNIC helps clients navigate risk by understanding their unique operations, goals and challenges, then connecting them with solutions that fit their needs.

A relationship-focused approach continues to shape how FNIC serves clients today. While insurance can often feel transactional, FNIC prioritizes communication, accountability and planning for what lies ahead. By staying informed on emerging risks and industry changes, the team helps clients prepare for evolving circumstances.
This commitment to partnership is reflected in FNIC’s longstanding relationship with DAVINCI’s Casual Italian. What began more than 20 years ago as a traditional insurance relationship evolved into a trusted partnership as the company grew and adapted over time.
“They’re not transactional, they’re invested,” said Joe Armstrong, President & COO of DAVINCI’s Casual Italian. “If you want a group that understands your business and helps you think ahead, that’s FNIC.”
“Every business operates differently, so taking time to understand their challenges and long-term vision is an important part of building a meaningful risk management plan,” said Matt Greenway, Sr. Vice President at FNIC. “The goal is to create a strategy that evolves alongside the client and provides ongoing support.”

That level of engagement continues to guide FNIC’s work across commercial insurance, employee benefits, personal insurance, surety bonds, crop insurance, and farm insurance. As a locally based organization serving clients across five states throughout the Midwest, FNIC remains closely connected to the communities it serves, including in Lincoln, where its office is located in the Haymarket District across from Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Celebrating 110 years in business represents more than longevity. It reflects decades of relationships built on trust, communication, and a shared commitment to helping clients navigate risk and prepare for the future. Businesses and individuals looking for a partner that brings experience, responsiveness, and a long-term strategy can connect with FNIC to learn more about its services and approach. Jason Ball, President & CEO – Lincoln Chamber of Commerce
Lincoln has long been shaped by the vision and leadership of remarkable women across our business community, and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is proud to champion programs like RISE and Women in Business that support their continued success. Together, these programs create meaningful opportunities for women to build powerful connections, engage in important conversations and gain valuable insights that elevate both personal and professional growth. The Chamber is especially grateful to Lincoln’s business community for its continued support of these programs and its shared commitment to investing in the advancement and success of women leaders across our city.
This spring, the Lincoln Chamber proudly hosted another successful Women in Business event in partnership with the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The event brought together nearly 500 attendees at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, marking an exciting new chapter for the program as it moved to a larger venue to accommodate growing interest and allow for continued future expansion. The program featured keynote speaker Erin Stafford, who shared valuable insights on navigating burnout and maintaining resilience in today’s fast-paced professional environment, and spent time engaging in conversation with those in attendance. In addition, attendees heard from three respected local business leaders during an engaging panel discussion focused on leadership, growth and the challenges facing women in business today.
This year’s keynote speaker was once again made possible by the generous support of the JoAnn Martin Leadership Legacy Endowment. Erin’s presentation continues an impressive lineup of Women in Business speakers supported through the endowment, including Cassandra Worthy in 2023, Kindra Hall in 2024 and Victoria Labalme in 2025. The continued success of the Women in Business event serves as a meaningful tribute to JoAnn Martin’s unparalleled leadership and lasting impact on Lincoln’s business community.
Beyond Women in Business, the Lincoln Chamber’s RISE programming continues throughout the year, offering additional opportunities for women to connect, learn and grow together. With three RISE events remaining in 2026, there is still time for women across the community to engage in this impactful program. RISE also offers coaching communities designed to empower and encourage women as they uncover what inspires them to grow both personally and professionally. Each coaching community is facilitated by a certified coach, introducing participants to the power of professional coaching and the meaningful impact it can have on leadership development, confidence and long-term success.
These programs are just two examples of how the Lincoln Chamber is committed to meeting people where they are and creating meaningful opportunities for connection, growth and engagement across the business community. From programs like the Lincoln Young Professionals Group to the Lincoln Manufacturing Council and Latino Connect, the Lincoln Chamber continues to provide spaces where professionals from all backgrounds and industries can build relationships, develop skills and strengthen their connection to Lincoln.

As Downtown Lincoln gears up for the long-anticipated Project O Street improvements, not every business is bracing for disruption; some are leaning into creativity.
At the heart of it all, the Parrish building on the corner of 14th and O is transforming construction season into something a little more magical.

Introducing the “Wizard of O Street.”
Led by Parrish Project, this imaginative promotion invites locals to quite literally follow a yellow brick road winding through the building. But this isn’t just a one-day event; it’s a full experience running through October. Visitors can pick up “Adventure Cards” and collect stamps as they explore participating shops and galleries. Along the way, they’ll discover a mix of retail, art and local flavor from businesses like A Novel Idea, Gomez Art Supply, and Gourmet Grill. Completed cards enter participants into monthly prize drawings (an extra incentive to keep coming back).
Cinnamon Dokken, owner of A Novel Idea and building manager for Parrish Project, is the driving force behind the initiative. With up to 35 businesses expected to join, the effort reflects something deeper than a marketing campaign; it’s a coordinated push to keep downtown vibrant during a period of change. Dokken has worked tirelessly to bring businesses together and has encouraged others to participate in Wizard of O St, giving Downtown Lincoln business owners a sense of community.
And that sense of community is key.
Project O Street, which spans from 9th to 16th Street, focuses on longoverdue infrastructure upgrades, including repairing aging water mains, improving sidewalks, and enhancing the overall streetscape. While the end result promises a better downtown experience, construction periods can be challenging for small businesses that rely on foot traffic.
Instead of waiting it out, these businesses are creating reasons for people to show up now.
The Wizard of O Street promotion is a reminder that even in the middle of disruption, there’s room for creativity, collaboration, and a bit of whimsy. It turns a potentially difficult season into an opportunity, not just to maintain business, but to strengthen connections between local shops and the community they serve.
So if you find yourself downtown in the coming months, keep an eye out for that yellow brick road. It might just lead you somewhere unexpected.

Offering unique, thrilling and puzzling rooms, all bookings at Escape Lincoln are private and can help build teamwork and leadership within groups.
“At the office, Dave from accounting is just Dave from accounting,” Anh, co-

creator of Escape Lincoln says. “In our escape rooms, Dave is the one who cracked the cipher and saved everyone. There are no trust falls, no icebreaker worksheets. Just a locked door, a clock counting down and coworkers discovering each other’s hidden talents and hidden panic instincts. That’s the Dave you actually want to know. Escape rooms have a way of bringing people together that working in an office cannot recreate.
Most retreats end with a catered lunch and a vague sense of awkwardness. Escape Lincoln ends with high-fives, bragging rights and a story everyone continuously retells.
Because “relaxed” does not have to mean boring. It means no agenda, no PowerPoints, no one pretending to take notes. Just a room, a common mission and permission to have a good time. The atmosphere takes care of itself because escape rooms are genuinely fun.

The seniors in our lives are often people who are very important to us; whether they are our parents, grandparents, or friends, their health is just as important as ours. Keeping our seniors healthy is a sign of love from a strong community. Here in Lincoln, some of the community’s strength comes from the prolific amount of businesses that would be happy to help keep our seniors safe, happy, and healthy.

It is common for elderly individuals to eventually transition from their homes into a place with more available care. According to T Square Movers , this process can often be physically and emotionally straining to seniors, which is why they recommend their services. Seniors benefit from working with T Square Movers through a combination of reduced physical strain, increased safety, and a more guided, stressfree experience. Their team handles all heavy lifting and logistics, helping to prevent injury and eliminate the overwhelm that can come with coordinating a move independently.

For T Square Movers, the most appropriate service for elderly relocation is their full-service moving option. This includes professional packing, loading, transportation, unloading, and basic setup. This comprehensive approach minimizes the strain that often comes with moving later in life. Seniors frequently have a lifetime of belongings— many of which hold significant sentimental value—so having a trained, detail-oriented team ensures items are handled with care and respect.
They also offer in-home moving and rearranging services, which are especially beneficial for seniors who are aging in place or transitioning rooms within their home. These services help create safer, more functional living spaces without the need for a full relocation. They understand that senior moves often involve major life transitions, such as downsizing or relocating closer to family or care support. Their movers are trained to approach each situation with professionalism and compassion, ensuring clients feel comfortable, respected, and supported throughout the entire process.
Ultimately, T Square Movers wishes to provide not just a moving service, but a smooth and dignified transition into the next chapter of life.
Senior health at The Waterford looks like personalized care in a safe, relationship-centered environment that supports physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. For many people, health is not just physical; their services, including assistance with daily living, medication management, nutritious meals, wellness activities, and memory care, help residents maintain independence, reduce isolation, and improve overall quality of life.

The Waterford also promotes having smaller community settings and individualized attention, which also allow them to better respond to each resident’s changing health needs. They note a few key senior health trends they have seen: are rising rates of dementia and cognitive decline, increased loneliness and isolation, and greater demand for personalized wellness services. At Waterford, seniors and family can be certain that their caregivers have full awareness of these trends and the best ways to mitigate them.
Seniors today are living longer with more complex health needs, meaning families are seeking communities like Waterford that provide strong caregiver relationships, meaningful engagement, and a higher quality of life—not just basic care.
The process of older adults selling their homes to transition elsewhere is rarely just a real estate transaction; it is a major life transition layered with emotional, logistical, and often family dynamics. This is why the team, including Alicia Chrastil, at the Nebraska Real Estate Specialty Group uses their Savvy Seniors Transition System™. It is a proven process designed to bring clarity, reduce stress, and protect your equity throughout the entire transition.
The way a transition is handled has a direct impact on an older

adult’s overall well being, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Nebraska Real Estate often sees financial, physical, and logistical considerations during the elderly relocation process. Older adults are trying to balance maximizing the value of their home while preparing for their next stage of life. Without a clear strategy, it can be difficult to know the right timing, pricing, and preparation steps. Sorting through a lifetime of belongings, coordinating estate sales, hiring movers, and preparing a home for market can feel overwhelming without support.
This is where working with a specialist makes all the difference. Nebraska Realty is able to guide older adults and their families through each step with a clear plan, coordinated resources, and the confidence that nothing important is being missed. It turns what can feel overwhelming into something organized, thoughtful, and manageable. Their team also connects clients with a network of trusted professionals. Whether it is home care, senior living guidance, financial planning, or legal support, older adults are supported in a way that considers their full situation, not just the real estate.
Home Instead helps keep aging adults healthy in both mind and body by focusing on personalized, relationship-based care that supports overall wellbeing, not just physical needs. Through companionship and consistent interaction, Care Professionals help reduce loneliness and isolation, which are closely linked to depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and other serious health concerns in older adults. Engaging aging adults in conversation, hobbies, memory activities, faithbased connections, and daily routines provides important mental

stimulation that supports both cognitive and emotional wellbeing.
Home Instead notes one growing trend in senior health is that families often rely on a loved one with dementia to decide whether they need care, even after the disease has begun affecting judgment, insight, and decision-making abilities. This has become a significant challenge in preventative care because dementia often limits a person’s ability to recognize declining health, safety concerns, or the need for support early enough to take action.

As a result, preventative care is frequently delayed until a crisis occurs, such as a fall, hospitalization, wandering incident, medication error, or severe caregiver burnout. Early intervention can help aging adults remain safer, healthier, and more independent for a longer period of time. Care professionals at Home Instead are often able to notice subtle changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, mood, or cognition early on and communicate concerns to families before larger health issues arise.
Home Instead Care Professionals assist with physical wellness through services such as meal preparation, medication reminders, mobility assistance, light housekeeping, transportation, and encouragement with daily activity and exercise. This holistic approach allows aging adults to maintain independence while receiving the support needed to stay safe, active, and engaged.
By supporting both the emotional and physical aspects of aging, Home Instead helps aging adults experience a higher quality of life while giving families peace of mind that their loved one is cared for with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Husker Rehab offers many their professional rehabilitation services to elderly patients with common health issues. The two most common health issues seen among elderly patients are constipation and UTIs. Both of these health issues depend a lot on hydration and activity levels, both of which tend to decrease as a person ages. Another common health issue that is seen a lot is joint pain and pain with mobility, which usually leads to balance impairments. Joint pain can be caused by decreased padding in the joints or muscle imbalances pulling bones the wrong ways. Humans tend to avoid any activity that causes them pain. When seniors don’t use their balance systems, their brain forgets how to manage their balance when moving around.
At Husker Rehab, pelvic floor therapy and orthopedic and spine therapy are often used with elderly patients. Pelvic floor therapy can help reduce constipation and pain or difficulty with toileting, as well as treat symptoms and adverse effects of a UTI. The team at Husker Rehab takes the time to learn all of your symptoms, create personalized goals to help get you as close to normal as we can, and teach ways to self-manage your constipation or UTI symptoms. As UTIs can wipe a person out, they can help improve general strength and conditioning as well.
With their orthopedic and spine therapy, they use the challenges a patient faces in their daily life due to pain or lack of balance to help direct where their treatment session goes. They recognize that each patient presents with unique challenges and requires individualized care. Because no two balance impairments or joint pains are exactly alike, effective treatment cannot rely on a repetitive, standardized approach. They utilize postural restoration techniques to help restore the muscular balance within the body to help reduce pain with motion. Additionally, they have lots of tools in their gym that help challenge the balance systems in the brain so rehab feels like playing a game instead of working out.
Husker Rehab prioritizes functional activities to ensure an elderly patient’s safety during their daily routine and enhance their quality of life despite their health issues.

Many seniors have different needs as they age; some residents want just a little extra help now and then, while others may need more regular assistance as life changes. Legacy Retirement Communities knows that no two people need the exact same kind of support. That’s why they offer Legacy Care Services to help address a variety of needs in a way that feels personal, flexible, and respectful.
Support may look like help with daily routines, personal care, medication reminders or management, companionship, laundry, errands, or added one-on-one assistance when someone needs more focused care. For residents who need a higher level of support, Legacy’s care team works with them and their families to understand what would be most helpful and adjust as needs change. The goal is not to take over someone’s life, but to make the right support available so they can continue feeling comfortable, confident, and connected to the parts of life that still feel like their own.
At Legacy Retirement Communities, they believe health is more than how someone feels physically. It also includes peace of mind, emotional steadiness, meaningful connection, and the freedom to keep being yourself as life changes. Legacy communities are built to support the whole person in practical, personal ways. Residents have opportunities to stay active, enjoy meals planned by our skilled culinary staff, take part in activities, build friendships, and receive care when they need it. Just as important, they are known by the people around them. The Legacy care team notices routines. They learn preferences. They pay attention when something feels different. The heart of their work is helping residents feel supported, connected, and recognized for who they are — not defined by what they need.
At Savannah Pines, supporting the health and well-being of the residents is a daily priority. As an independent living community, they focus heavily on prevention through wellness programs, nutritious dining options, fitness opportunities, and encouraging active, engaged lifestyles that help seniors maintain their independence and overall quality of life.

Their team also keeps a close connection with residents and their families so concerns can be recognized early. If health needs arise, Savannah Pines helps connect residents with trusted third-party healthcare providers and supportive services to ensure they receive the care they need while continuing to feel safe, comfortable, and supported within the community. Their goal is to provide peace of mind while allowing residents to maintain the independence they value. Having a strong sense of community boosts the health and wellness of aging adults – which is why it is at the heart of life at Savannah Pines. They offer a wide variety of social activities, group events,

clubs, fitness classes, and shared dining experiences that encourage residents to build friendships and stay engaged. When seniors and their families realize the difficulty and stress associated with the navigation of retirement communities, they often wonder why they didn’t start with Bridge to Better Living
Bridge to Better Living’s goal is to connect clients with all levels of Senior Living Communities where social, physical, medical, and financial needs are met. The team at Bridge to Better Living understands social engagement is important. No two families or loved ones are the same and no two communities are identical. They address those differences and more for a successful transition and a better quality of life.
K2 Holistic Health has seen an increasing number of senior patients coming to them with neuropathy, troublesome joints, and declining cognition. Nearly every medical clinic will prescribe medications like Gabapentin and Lyrica for neuropathy, or hydrocortisone and then surgery for troublesome joints. Gabapentin, Lyrica, and hydrocortisone don’t fix these respective issues; in fact, they often hide the symptoms, which can lead to the issues worsening over time.

K2 Holistic Health has also seen an increasing number of senior patients coming for hormones and peptides, to help their bodies be healthier. With these treatments, they are able to start reversing the pathology process that leads to medical conditions like diabetes, neuropathy, dementia, and even some cancers in the elderly population. As people age, their hormone and peptide levels begin to decline, and their bodies become less efficient. Balancing these issues leads to greater health and more independence for their patients.
The best treatments for senior health is to both rebalance hormones and peptides, and help to restore proper body mechanics. This is why K2 Holistic Health utilizes a medical team, a physical therapy team, and a chiropractic team, with each department working together to restore the body’s full proper mechanics. The answers aren’t in prescription bottles. The answers are here at K2 Holistic Health.

There are many reasons business spaces go through renovations. If you are expanding staff, operations, adding a new section to your business or going through regular upgrades and updates, the factors that go into remodeling a working business are immense. How do you keep operations going smoothly? What hidden costs will present themselves as remodeling happens? And, how do you choose the right company for the job? Renovating your business may not be a relaxing project but Lincoln engineering, cleaning and construction firms are here to help the process disrupt your business and clients as least as possible.

Business remodels usually look straightforward on paper—new layout, updated finishes, better customer experience—but a lot of the difficult parts are invisible until construction starts. Some of the most common “hidden” challenges regarding electrical work include scope creep, permits and code upgrades, business interruption, hidden conditions behind walls and ceilings, landlord and lease complications, long lead times on materials and equipment, underestimating soft costs, technology integration problems, cash flow pressure, decision fatigue and unrealistic timelines. The businesses that struggle the least are usually the ones that treat remodeling as an operational transformation project—not just a construction projects.
ABC Electric sees all types of electrical upgrades and the problems that go with upgrades and remodels. With a team of experienced professional technicians, they can spot problems before the project is in full swing so you know what to expect. Even with electrical work, the more you dig into a project, the more problems you will find with outdated electrical components. ABC makes these surprises less overwhelming for business owners.

Electrical work tends to be one of the biggest sources of unexpected delays and costs. Because electrical systems are so deeply ingrained into the infrastructure and operations of every building, replacing or fixing these systems can be costly. From opening up walls to inspecting wiring, to constantly changing code compliance requirements and delays in utility coordination, there are so many ways this aspect of your remodel can cause problems, whether that is in terms of dollars or days, both of which are crucial to businesses.
ABC Electric tends to see a fairly consistent set of requests across offices, retail spaces, restaurants, warehouses, healthcare facilities and multi-purpose buildings. The exact scope varies by industry, but these are the most common categories: lighting upgrades, panel and service upgrades, office reconfiguration and tenant build-outs, data, network, and low-voltage cabling, code compliance corrections, EV charging infrastructure, energy management and automation, backup power and resiliency improvements, and open-ceiling and aesthetic remodels.
With a one-year warranty on materials and labor, timely support for any issues, and expert electrician technicians, when you don’t know what is behind your walls and want a reliable partner for any remodel, ABC Electric is the smart choice!
Remodeling your business, no matter how good the crew is can cause a mess and put a wrench in your cleaning routine and work flow.
Remodeling brings in dust, debris and materials that regular cleaning routines simply aren’t designed to handle. Even after construction is complete, fine dust can settle into vents, surfaces and flooring, impacting air quality and overall cleanliness. Because of this, businesses often need a more detailed and specialized cleaning plan both during and after remodeling to maintain a safe and presentable environment.

New Start Cleaning provides preconstruction prep, mid-construction cleanups to keep the site manageable and a detailed post-construction cleaning to get the space fully ready for use. The team is trained to work around active projects and deliver the level of detail needed after construction is complete.
New Start Cleaning also understands that every business operates differently

and takes a customized approach when implementing cleaning services to not interfere with crucial operations. They also will take the time to talk through services with business owners and construction crews to make sure they are working as a team to help the business get through the renovations with little disruptions possible. Based on size of facility, type of business, traffic levels and schedules, they will work with a client to create a plan that works for their budget and needs—whether its weekly, daily or after-hours service.
Something that’s important to note is a clean work space is not just important when major work is going on. It is important for every employee and boss to have a clean and calm work space.
“We see it all the time. When a space is clean, organized and well maintained, employees feel more comfortable and focused, and it reflects in their work,” says Coco Chairez, owner of New Start Cleaning. “A clean space also leaves a positive reflection on clients and customers.”
Their advice to business owners is to treat cleanliness as a part of your team’s experience, not just a task.
“Consistency matters more than occasional deep cleaning. Creating a clean environment shows your team that you value their space, which naturally supports better morale and productivity,” Chairez explains. So before the construction starts, after the remodeling has been done or any time between, check out New Start Cleaning to give your space and your employees a new start and with weekly/daily cleaning services, they can have a new start every Monday.
At Underfoot Flooring Solutions, the team always recommend choosing flooring based on performance first, not just appearance. Every business has different needs depending on traffic, moisture, maintenance and budget. They help guide customers toward products

that will hold up long term while still matching the look and feel they want for their space.
Underfoot Flooring, a sister company PureCare Carpet, sees so many floor remodels and carpet installations they pick up on trends business are following in regards to remodeling.
“We’re seeing a huge increase in luxury vinyl plank (LVP), carpet tile, and warm natural wood tones,” says Underfoot Flooring Solutions. “Businesses are looking for products that are durable, easy to maintain and still visually appealing. Sustainability and low-maintenance materials are also becoming more important to customers.”
How your flooring looks and supports your business shouldn’t be an afterthought. Flooring affects first impressions, safety, maintenance costs and overall customer experience. Clean, updated flooring helps businesses look professional and welcoming, while damaged or outdated flooring can negatively affect how customers view the space. The right flooring can also reduce downtime and make maintenance much easier long term.
Underfoot Flooring Solutions cares about what is under your foot and you should too.

with owners to evaluate layout, building systems and future needs to ensure every project is a smart investment, not just a cosmetic upgrade.

As technology and workplace expectations continue to evolve, commercial remodeling has shifted toward smarter, more efficient environments. Tru-Built helps clients integrate modern solutions such as improved lighting systems, energyefficient HVAC, optimized layouts and upgraded materials that enhance durability and reduce long-term maintenance. Many owners don’t realize the complexity involved in bringing older spaces up to current standards. From outdated infrastructure to changing codes and the integration of new technologies, commercial remodels require thoughtful planning and problem-solving. With decades of experience, Tru-Built anticipates these challenges early and provides practical solutions that keep projects aligned with both current demands and future growth.
What sets Tru-Built apart is a hands-on, solutions-driven approach backed by real-world experience. They understand that every project is tied directly to business performance, and they take that responsibility seriously. By combining construction expertise with a forward-thinking mindset, Tru-Built helps owners create spaces that are more efficient, more comfortable and better equipped to support success for years to come.

Every project is unique and Schwisow Construction takes that mindset into every project big or small.
“Our process starts with an in depth review of the owner’s vision,” say Wesley Leuck, Chief Operating Officer of Schiwow Construction. “We take time to get to know each of our customer’s business and team. Understanding the direction of the business helps us create a space that not only meets their current needs, but their future direction as well, long term value and quality of the project are key. It’s all in the details.”
Depending on the age, condition and the desired use of the space, bringing a space up to current building and safety codes can often be more involved than clients initially anticipate. Schwisow Construction works directly with local officials and design professionals to make sure that they are creating an environment that is functional, visually appealing and in line with all local and state building and safety codes. For business owners, one thing that needs to be kept in mind is allowing the operating of a business to continue during construction.
“We conduct a thorough project kickoff meeting to get the project manager, superintendent, owners, and any subcontractors aligned on timing expectations,” Leuck says.
Understanding the functional operations of the business is important to stay ahead of workflow peaks, and take advantage of any slower times that might exist. A realistic schedule upfront that has built in contingencies is very important during this type of work. Having empowered leadership on site for the entirety of the project is key.
While some customers are looking for basic upgrades due to general esthetics, Schwisow is also seeing customers re-evaluate their entire footprint to maximize efficiency. Relocation of office spaces, improved utilization of non production areas and upgraded energy efficient lighting systems and technology are all in high demand according to Schwisow Construction.
Remodeling a commercial property comes with a difficult balancing

act. Improvements are necessary to maintain curb appeal, protect long-term property value and create a strong customer impression, but shutting down operations during construction is rarely an option.

According to Ching Kong, owner of Spray-Net Lincoln, one of the biggest concerns business owners have is how to renovate without disrupting the day-today flow of their business.
“At Spray-Net, we understand that downtime costs business owners money, so our entire process is built around minimizing disruption,” Ching said.
Ching works with commercial clients looking to modernize and restore their buildings without the expense and disruption of full exterior replacement. The company specializes in exterior transformations using proprietary coatings and application systems designed specifically for surfaces such as brick, stucco, metal siding, aluminum and vinyl.
To help businesses remain operational during projects, Spray-Net builds schedules and flexible timelines around the client’s needs. Projects can often be completed during off-hours, weekends or in sections, allowing customers and employees to continue using the space safely while work is underway.
Ching said many owners underestimate how much planning and coordination goes into commercial remodeling projects. Timelines can be affected by weather, safety requirements, tenant coordination and product compatibility issues that are not always obvious at the beginning of a project.
“One of the biggest misconceptions is that all coatings and painting systems perform the same,” he said. “Improper preparation, poor product compatibility or using residential-grade materials on commercial properties can lead to premature peeling, fading or failure.”
Rather than focusing on temporary cosmetic improvements, the company uses coatings engineered to restore and protect commercial exteriors for years to come.
“We are not a traditional painting company,” Ching said. “We specialize in permanent-looking exterior transformations using proprietary products and processes that are engineered specifically for each surface we coat.”

For many commercial property owners, the appeal is not only the updated appearance, but also the ability to avoid major replacement costs. Spray-Net’s process allows aging surfaces to be restored instead of replaced, reducing waste while extending the life of the building exterior.
Nebraska’s climate also plays a major role in how commercial exteriors perform over time. Between harsh winters, temperature swings and severe hail storms, Ching said durability is one of the most important considerations for local business owners.
Spray-Net also manufactures low-VOC coatings designed to reduce strong paint odors and create a safer environment for employees and customers during active projects. Combined with faster cure times, the company’s systems help shorten project timelines while limiting disruption inside occupied buildings.
As commercial properties continue to compete for visibility and customer attention, Ching believes exterior appearance plays a larger role than many owners realize.

Make sure all systems are operating as they were designed to operate.”
Navigating commercial building codes is one of the most critical and costly aspects of a remodeling project. Upgrading existing spaces to meet current safety, mechanical, electrical and energy standards requires careful planning and budgeting.
Remodeling may seem daunting. With the amount of complexities that comes with updating systems, choosing the right materials and crew for the job and keep operations ongoing and uninterrupted is essential to not having the remodel turn into a migraine, for you, your customers and staff.
Don’t put it all on yourself and reach out to one of these businesses for advice, quotes and explanation of services and their thoughts on your remodel.
