LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
PAIGE ZUTAVERN - Omaha/Lincoln - President (402) 730-0096 | Paige@StrictlyBusinessOmaha.com
A Paige From My Notebook ... In a world where nearly everything is tracked, measured, spoofed and analyzed by AI, algorithms and data, Strictly Business goes beyond the numbers.
Those are actual connections between local people and local businesses. For 19 years, our goal has been simple: help great businesses connect with the people who need them. Sometimes that connection starts with an advertisement. Sometimes it’s a story, a press release, a feature or a photograph. But what really matters is what happens afterward—a phone call, a new customer, a referral, a partnership or a relationship that lasts for years.
And now, with AI creating everything from articles and reviews to photos, videos and even e n t ire webs i tes , another question has become impossible to ignore: Wh a t “In a world where it’s getting c a n yo u r e a l l y harder to know what’s real online, believe online? It is becoming harder to know what was real people, real businesses and written by a real person, what was generated by AI, what traffic is legitimate real connections matter more than and what numbers have been artificially inflated. ever.” Businesses are constantly shown reports filled with impressions, clicks, views and traffic. But not every click represents a real person. Fake traffic, bots and fraudulent clicks are real problems in digital advertising. That makes it more important than ever to look beyond the dashboard and ask a simpler question: Did this actually connect me with a real customer? That’s one reason I believe what we do at Strictly Business is more important than ever. We hear it from real people all the time: “I saw them in Strictly Business.” “I called them because of your magazine.” “I learned about them through one of your stories.” Those are more than clicks on a report.
Technology can measure a tremendous amount today. It can tell us how many times something appeared on a screen or how many times a link was clicked. But, it still can’t fully measure the value of someone picking up Strictly Business, learning about a local company, remembering their name and calling them months later when they need their services.
And now we want to hear those stories from you. If Strictly Business has ever helped you find one of our advertisers, hire a company, make a referral, discover a nonprofit, meet someone or create a new business relationship, tell us about it at office@ strictlybusinessomaha.com. We want to hear how that connection happened, and we may feature your story in Strictly Business or on our social media. And always please be sure to let our clients know you got connected to them through Strictly Business Magazine. President, Strictly Business Magazine Paige Zutavern

BUSINESS NEWS Wells Fargo Foundation’s $1 million Grant Expands Construction Education, Scholarships and Affordable Housing Partnerships at MCC A $1 million grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation will expand access to construction education, increase student scholarships and strengthen affordable housing partnerships with Metropolitan Community College (MCC), helping students pursuing careers in Nebraska’s growing construction industry. In addition, a $250,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to HomeWoven, a nonprofit focused on housing stability, will support the construction of affordable homes in South Omaha while creating an expanded internship program with MCC, enabling students to learn on the job through hands-on housing development experience. The locally owned company was founded by Ted McIntosh and his son, Jason McIntosh, who remains an owner today. Over the past year, the ownership group has grown to include Ryan Miller and, more recently, Justin Gray—who spent nearly a decade with McIntosh Plumbing before returning as a partner. Leadership says the goal of the growth is continuity, not change: the same 20-year-old, family-run business, just positioned itself to serve more across the metro, including a growing presence in Omaha. “This isn’t about becoming a bigger company that feels less like ours,” said Ryan Miller, general manager of McIntosh Plumbing. “It’s about being able to show up for more of our neighbors, faster, without losing what makes us McIntosh.” McIntosh Plumbing offers residential plumbing, drain, sewer and water heater services throughout Omaha and Council Bluffs. BUSINESS NEWS S-Panels Omaha to Open the First SIP Manufacturing Facility in Omaha
FotoFunSpot Showcases Little Sketchy at Engler Summit
In partnership with the Omaha Inland Port Authority, the team at S-Panels Omaha have committed to open a full scale manufacturing facility in the new Innovation District in North Omaha. More details to come in the near future regarding this development. S-Panels Omaha has a projected date for the project in the Innovation District in 2028.
FotoFunSpot recently brought its Little Sketchy experience to the inaugural Engler Summit in Kearney, Nebraska, giving attendees a fun and interactive way to unwind from the day’s sessions and create something uniquely their own. Instead of a traditional photo booth, guests watched as their portraits were transformed into playful, custom character sketches, drawn live in front of them. The process quickly became part of the experience itself, with students and attendees gathering around to watch each illustration take shape. It wasn’t just about the finished sketch. Watching guests recognize themselves in their character and call friends over to see it unfold became part of the fun.
S-Panels Omaha is leading a new era of construction innovation across Nebraska and the Midwest — where attainable, energy-efficient and high-quality housing is built faster, smarter, and more sustainably.
Events like the Engler Summit are a reminder that the most memorable experiences are often the ones that invite people to participate. A simple photo becomes something worth talking about when it encourages curiosity, sparks conversation, and gives guests a reason to gather together.
By manufacturing advanced Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) locally, they’re not just building homes — they’re building opportunity and community. Each panel represents progress toward a stronger, more sustainable Omaha.
“We’re always looking for experiences that feel unique and a little unexpected,” Kayla Braun shared. “There’s something special about watching someone recognize themselves in a sketch for the first time. It brings out genuine reactions, and those are the moments we love being part of.”
You can contact Phillip (Pip) Henderson at (402) 208-2660 or at phillip.henderson@spanels.com. You can also visit spanelsomaha.com.
From conferences and corporate events to campus programs and community celebrations, FotoFunSpot continues to create interactive experiences that bring people together in ways that feel personal, engaging, and just plain fun. For more information, visit fotofunspot.com

DYNASTY ENTERPRISES Phillip “Pip” Henderson is the founder of Dynasty Enterprises Omaha. Tell us a little about your business. - Dynasty Enterprises Omaha is the umbrella for several businesses I’ve built across industries I’m passionate about. It includes S-Panels Omaha, Dynasty Concrete LLC, Dynasty Development LLC, Dynasty Combat Sports, and DC Hauling. While each company serves a different purpose, they all share the same foundation: creating opportunities, building relationships, solving problems, and making an impact in Omaha. How did you get started in business? - I became an entrepreneur at a young age and have spent most of my life building businesses and learning through experience. Construction became the foundation, but over time I realized entrepreneurship didn’t have to mean doing just one thing. Each company under Dynasty Enterprises came from seeing an opportunity, identifying a need, and having the willingness to take a chance on building something. What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - Getting people to change their mindset and be open to doing things differently. Whether it’s construction, development, or business in general, sometimes the biggest obstacle isn’t the idea. It’s getting people comfortable enough to believe in something they haven’t seen before

What has been your most important achievement professionally? - One of my proudest accomplishments has been working with the UNL architecture program on homes designed around aging in place, sustainability, and energy efficiency, and then watching those ideas become actual homes. Seeing something go from a conversation and a drawing to something people can live in reminded me why I do this.

How did you get started in the business? - Like many people around my age, I was getting to a point in my corporate career where I was successful and accomplished, but also left feeling like there’s something more I can be doing – something that would fill my soul and make a difference in the community. My husband and I came across BODYBAR and really loved the concept—the workouts, the energy, the brand and especially the focus on community. The more we learned about it, the more we felt like it was something that would be a great fit for our area. What has been your most important achievement professionally? My biggest professional achievements are the moments I see my team of employees achieving their own personal goals. Knowing that our hard work provides the promotion to someone that then leads them to buy their first house, or take their wife on the anniversary trip or just to have the work-life balance they need to be fulfilled outside of work – these things are better than any award or certificate I could hang on my own wall. Tell us a little about your family. - Paul and I together have three adult sons and three dogs. Our children are 28, 22, and 19. Kefi is the newest dog to join our family – he is a 1 ½ year old chocolate lab with an incredible joy for life and lots of energy! What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - Several years ago we had a series of events in our family that really brought into focus what is important, and just how short life is. These moments also showed us the support we had in our family, friends and community and brought us closer in faith. What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I really like figuring out how things work and solving puzzles – especially the ones it seems no one else can figure out. I often get caught up in conversations with someone who’s just trying to service my air conditioner because I want to know how it all works, and why it works that way. Who inspires you? - Much of my current inspiration comes from the time I spend with my young nieces and nephews. Seeing the world through their eyes and the simplicity of what makes them happy is really grounding to me. What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “Never mistake activity for achievement.” I believe the quote comes from a former basketball coach, John Wooden. So often I think we confuse being busy, having a full calendar, or checking off things on our list is what defines our achievements. The better question is are we accomplishing things that make a difference? What is your favorite local Omaha restaurant? - My favorite local restaurant right now is Kinaara. The food is amazing and we’re always so well taken care of!

AJ Andresen
BANKERS TRUST AJ Andresen is Vice President, Private Wealth Advisor at Bankers Trust Tell us a little about your family. - My wife, Erin, and I have been together for nearly 10 years and married for seven. We are proud parents of two awesome kids, Mack (4) and Macy (2). I was born and raised in Omaha, graduating from Creighton Prep before earning my undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and my graduate degree from Creighton University. Erin was born in Alaska and grew up all over the world thanks to her family’s time in the Air Force. We are active members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and enjoy traveling to Illinois to visit Erin’s family where we love to go to Chicago Cubs games. We are also big fans of Creighton basketball – go Jays! Who inspires you? - Greg McDermott inspires me because of the way he develops people, not just successful basketball teams. I’ve enjoyed watching his approach to teaching and coaching. What stands out to me is how he combines high performance and accountability with a genuine focus on building strong relationships. In addition to being a great basketball coach, he does so much good in the community and has built an extensive network in the Midwest. His leadership style is one I try to emulate in my own career by prioritizing relationships while still driving results. What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - I have two favorite quotes that guide me on how I approach life and work. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not a single act, but a habit.” – Aristotle. “Today I will do what others won’t so tomorrow I can accomplish what others can’t.” – Jerry Rice. These quotes remind me that success is built through consistent daily habits, intentional effort and a commitment to doing the right things over time.
Take Advantage of Juiced Fuel’s Employer Fuel Benefit Program No card programs. No reimbursement headaches. Just full tanks and full parking lots.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Intentional. I believe that most things in life and work can be improved when approached with the right intentions. Being intentional means not simply reacting to circumstances but making informed decisions that align with your values and goals. It means being present, putting genuine effort into what matters, and continuously looking for ways to improve. I believe that when your intentions are right, success becomes a byproduct of consistently making good choices over time. Which talent would you most like to have? - I would love to be able to play the guitar and other musical instruments. I’ve always admired how music brings people together and provides a creative outlet from the demands of everyday life. What is your favorite TV show? - The Office. I’ve probably watched the series more times than I should admit, but it’s my favorite. While most people are drawn in by the humor, the show resonates with me because of its underlying message about teamwork, relationships and culture. Despite their differences and plenty of dysfunction along the way, the strongest moments of the series came when the team rallied around a common goal and supported each other. People do their best work when they feel connected, valued, and comfortable being themselves.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT PROTECTING CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE: WATER, WASTEWATER, CYBERSECURITY Cyber Attacks on Critical Infrastructure Recently Rensenhouse, Fortinet and Huffman Engineering joined forces on a Fireside chat webcast highlighting the need for valued partnerships across automation journeys especially in the water/wastewater utility industry. Bill Schmidt, Principal Solutions Consultant with Rensenhouse states, “All of the utilities now, whether they're large, small, or somewhere in between, they all are aware of the need for network infrastructure, just the drive for data getting visibility into their processes and equipment. And they're all very aware of cybersecurity threats. There are many cases every day about another utility being compromised in some fashion, and they're, hyper focused on that and the security part of it, making sure they are not the next victim of some sort of ransomware or malware attack.” Cybersecurity Upgrades According to Braden Hadwiger, PE Project Engineer for Huffman Engineering, Inc., “the biggest challenge we see a lot of times is older plants that think, ‘we don't need security. We are air gapped or, we don't we don't need to implement that here because we're not connected to the Internet.’ As things progress through the project and go along, you find out that, well, maybe they're actually not air gapped, and they didn't know it. Or they think they're protected, and they're really not.” It’s our job to partner together and help protect these systems. Generations Gather for Second Annual Nebraska Community Foundation’s Youth Connection Summit Last month, high school students from Minden, Bertrand, Spencer, Ravenna, McCook and Hebron gathered in downtown Kearney for a full day of connection and community-building. Alongside them were adults from their hometowns’ local Nebraska Community Foundation affiliated funds. They had come together for the 2026 Youth Connection Summit, an event designed to encourage high school students from across the state to discover their potential to create positive change in their hometowns.
For businesses that receive the Sustainability Seal, the benefits are farreaching. In addition to receiving a static window sticker to proudly display, each recipient will be showcased in a series profiling their commitment to sustainability. These features will be shared across our platforms and website, helping recipients generate positive visibility among the growing base of eco-conscious consumers. This is a unique chance for Nebraska’s businesses to not only share their green efforts but to inspire others in their communities to take meaningful action. By formally recognizing green business efforts, KNB hopes other businesses across Nebraska are inspired to take action and create a ripple effect of positive environmental change. Together, we all can show that sustainable practices strengthen our planet, our communities, and the success of local businesses. Educare of Omaha, Inc. Invites Community to Play It Forward Educare of Omaha, Inc. invites the community to Play It Forward, an interactive fundraising lunc heon celebrating the organization’s 25th anniversary on Tuesday, October 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Happy Hollow Club. Play It Forward offers a unique opportunity to experience the power of play while investing in the next generation of children and families. Guests can explore hands-on activities that demonstrate how young children learn through play, hear inspiring stories from Educare families and educators, and take part in a community service project assembling kits for local families.
During a walking tour of downtown Kearney, attendees put on their “curiosity glasses” to identify three things: something they liked, something they loved and something they found intriguing. Later, they turned their investigations toward their own communities. Together, the students listed their places’ assets and shared their hometown dreams.
“Play is much more than fun—it’s how young children develop the language, creativity, confidence and problem-solving skills that prepare them for kindergarten and beyond,” said Rafel O. Hart, Executive Director of Educare of Omaha, Inc. “As we celebrate 25 years of serving Omaha’s children and families, Play It Forward is an opportunity for our community to experience the impact of high-quality early learning and invest in a stronger future for every child.”
As the day came to an end, the students reported their dreams with the group at large. Among those dreams were an activity center, more town gatherings, a centrally located school building, community beautification and more. They discussed how to talk to their neighbors about their projects and how to build consensus to make dreams reality.
Proceeds from the luncheon will support Educare’s nationally recognized early learning programs, family engagement initiatives, home visiting services and comprehensive support that help more than 650 children and families each year build a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Before adjourning, NCF’s Director of Asset-Based Community Development Becky Boesen and Youth Engagement Specialist Chloe Carlson announced that each affiliated fund present at the summit would be eligible for Youth Connection Experiment grants. If students identify a project, NCF will grant up to $10,000, so long as the community provides a 1:1 match. For more information, please visit nebcommfound.com.

Outlook Enrichment is celebrating its recent Outlook Explorers: Journey Beyond Sight Camp, where blind and low-vision campers had the time of their life experiencing adventurous activities the week of July 19-24. Some campers were away from home for the first time. Kids who once thought a rock wall or an archery target was out of reach found the courage to try anyway, cheered on by counselors. Campers competed in goalball and beep kickball, tackled the TreeRush Adventure ropes course and closed the week with a talent show. These adventures were made possible by Outlook Enrichment’s Tee It Up Fore Sight Golf Tournament supporters, as proceeds from the annual golf tourney helped create a week of firsts and fun for the campers. That same spirit continues Nov. 5 at Outlook Enrichment’s Vision Beyond Sight Gala at A View West Shores in Waterloo, Neb., marking the 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 and America’s 250th with a veteran’s firsthand account of loss and resilience. Jeffrey E. Mittman, President & CEO of Bosma Enterprises and a Presidential Appointee to the U.S. AbilityOne Commission, is the featured guest speaker. Life.Church and Open Door Mission Celebrate Partnership Bringing Hope and Second Chances to Omaha Since opening its first Omaha location eight years ago, Life.Church has invested in helping people find hope, healing, and a fresh start through strategic partnerships with local nonprofits. Through volunteer service and more than $285,000 in grants, Life.Church has supported organizations across the metro that help veterans, strengthen families, and assist individuals overcoming addiction and homelessness. One of those organizations is Open Door Mission, which has been serving Omaha’s most vulnerable neighbors over 71 years with emergency shelter, addiction recovery programs, and long-term life transformation services. Since 2020, Life.Church and Open Door Mission have partnered to help hundreds of men and women rebuild their lives and discover lasting hope. One of those lives is Joel’s. Joel’s life appeared successful from the outside, but addiction had quietly followed him for decades. After the end of his marriage and the sudden loss of his mother, his life began to unravel. He lost his career, his finances, and ultimately his freedom, spending time in jail. When Joel was released, he arrived at Open Door Mission with little more than a Bible, a nearly dead cell phone, and twenty-five cents in his pocket. Through Open Door Mission’s New Life Recovery Program, Joel found accountability, purpose, and a path forward. Today, he has been sober for more than three years, is remarried, and serves on staff at Open Door Mission, helping others find the same hope he discovered. The beautiful city of Omaha has grown and evolved throughout the years to be what it is today. Innovation, creativity and connection have been at the core of Omaha’s development, whether it is in local business or housing, interior or exterior. When local professionals come together to bring your building to higher and higher standards, you can take pride in knowing that the community worked with each other to bring you to the standards of this wonderful city. Engineered Controls helps buildings operate smarter by bringing essential systems together in one place. From heating and cooling to lighting, security and gas detection monitoring, its technology gives building owners greater control over how their properties function day to day. With these systems working together, buildings can use energy more efficiently, lower operating costs and provide a safer, more comfortable environment for the people inside.
As Omaha continues to grow and new construction takes shape throughout the community, efficiency is becoming an increasingly important part of how buildings are designed and managed. Developers, contractors and property owners are not only thinking about what a building needs when it opens, but also how it will perform for years to come. Engineered Controls helps address those needs through its WEBs building automation platform. Because the platform is internet-based, users can access their building systems through a web browser from virtually anywhere. Temperature, lighting, security and other systems can be monitored and adjusted from one central location, making it easier to stay on top of a building’s performance. The flexibility of the system is another advantage for new construction and existing properties. Builders can select equipment that makes the most sense for a particular project without being limited to a single manufacturer, while still bringing those components together through one platform.
JEFF KILLEEN
For Omaha properties, incorporating this type of technology can make managing a building simpler from the start while also preparing it for the future.

BUILDING OMAHA Smarter energy use and better control can translate into lower long-term expenses, greater efficiency and a building that is better equipped to adapt as needs change. Based in Omaha, Control Depot helps building owners, contractors and facility teams apply practical building automation solutions that improve comfort, simplify operation and support long-term energy management. In Omaha, where a building may need heat on a cold morning and cooling later the same day, dependable sensors and well-programmed controls are especially important. A practical JASON KUSLER controls assessment can identify quick corrections, equipment that is becoming obsolete and upgrades that can be phased over time. The goal is not to replace everything at once; it is to fix the items that improve comfort, reliability and operating cost first. The biggest improvement in automation in the past year has been the move from simply controlling equipment to helping owners understand how their buildings are performing. Newer systems can organize alarms, energy trends and maintenance information into clearer dashboards. Instead of showing a technician hundreds of data points, the system can help identify what needs attention first—for example, a rooftop unit running after hours, two pieces of equipment heating and cooling against each other, or a temperature that is drifting before occupants begin calling.
The most common roadblock for business/building owners is beginning with a product instead of a plan. A successful upgrade starts with clear goals: Are comfort complaints the main issue? Is equipment failing? Are utility costs rising? Does the owner need remote access or better reporting? Without that direction, a project can add technology without fixing the building’s real problems. Older buildings may also have incomplete drawings, undocumented wiring or a mix of equipment from several manufacturers. Some components may communicate with a new system, while others may need an interface or replacement. Network access and cybersecurity requirements should be discussed early with the owner’s IT team, not at the end of the project.
Celebrating 35 years of Making Ideas Work 5301 NORTH 57TH ST 112 INVERNESS CIR EAST, STE E LINCOLN, NE 68507 ENGLEWOOD, CO 80112 402.464.6823 303.376.6280 INFO@HUFFMANENG.COM HUFFMANENG.COM
Remote access and cloud-based services have also become easier to use, which can help a small facilities team monitor several buildings from one location. Artificial intelligence is beginning to assist with finding patterns and summarizing operating data, but it should support—not replace—experienced people and sound control sequences. Cybersecurity has also become a larger part of every automation conversation. Modern systems offer stronger user permissions, encrypted communications and better options for keeping software current. For an owner, the practical result is a system that is easier to operate, quicker to troubleshoot and better prepared to work with future equipment. Most owners are asking for improvements that solve several problems at once. They want lower utility costs, more consistent comfort, fewer surprise service calls and a system their staff can understand. Remote access is also in demand, particularly for owners who manage multiple properties or do not have a full-time building engineer at every site. Control Depot is also seeing more interest in open, expandable systems. In plain terms, owners do not want to be trapped into replacing an entire control system every time one piece of equipment reaches the end of its life. They want a plan that can connect existing equipment where it makes sense, replace outdated components in stages and leave room for future additions. Better alarms and reporting are another priority. Owners want useful notifications—not a flood of messages—and they want proof that an upgrade is producing results. In the Omaha market, that often means trending heating and cooling performance through changing seasons, comparing energy use over time and catching problems before an extreme cold snap or summer heat wave turns them into an emergency. #PrintProudDigitalSmart

BUILDING OMAHA Budget and scheduling can create challenges as well. Controls work must be coordinated with mechanical equipment, electrical work and normal business operations.
technical programming. Training, provided by Control Depot, should use the owner’s actual building and equipment, not just a generic classroom example.
They recommend documenting the existing system, identifying critical equipment, establishing who owns the software and passwords, and creating a phased plan with measurable priorities. Good planning allows an Omaha business to modernize without unnecessary disruption and reduces the chance of costly surprises during installation.
They also encourage a regular review of a few high-value items: operating schedules, temperature setpoints, equipment overrides, simultaneous heating and cooling, and units that run when areas are unoccupied. Weather-based adjustments can be especially valuable in Omaha because outdoor conditions change quickly. The system should automatically respond to those changes while still keeping the building comfortable.
Control Depot’s approach: Start with how the building is actually used, make the system understandable, and invest first in improvements that increase comfort, reliability and measurable efficiency. They recommend starting with the basics before buying new equipment. First, make sure the building’s schedules match the hours people are actually there. Heating, cooling and lighting an empty building is one of the most common sources of wasted energy. Next, review temperature sensors, thermostats and outdoor-air sensors. If a sensor is inaccurate, the entire system can make poor decisions even when the equipment itself is working properly. After that, look at older controllers, communication networks and operator software. Owners should know whether replacement parts are still available, whether the system receives security updates and whether staff can see alarms and adjust schedules without calling a technician for every small change. Control Depot starts by translating the system into everyday operating decisions. Owners and facility staff should know how to adjust occupied hours, handle a temporary schedule, recognize an important alarm and review a simple trend without digging through
Finally, savings should be measured. They recommend establishing a baseline, tracking energy use and comfort complaints, and reviewing results after changes are made. A building automation system is not a one-time purchase that should be ignored after installation. It is an operating tool. Periodic training, seasonal checkups and clear documentation help staff use that tool confidently, protect the owner’s investment and keep small issues from becoming expensive problems. SENIOR LIVING Getting older brings changes, but those changes look different for everyone. Some seniors want to stay in the home they have lived in for years, while others may be ready for a community where meals, activities and extra support are readily available. For families, figuring out what comes next can bring a lot of questions, especially when a loved one’s needs begin to change. Across Omaha, there are businesses and organizations working with seniors and their families every day. Whether they provide housing, health and wellness services, in-home assistance, rehabilitation or another type of support, these professionals can be an important resource when families are deciding what is best for someone they love. Caretech provides non-medical in-home care designed to help seniors remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the place they call home. Support can include personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, respite care, and assistance with everyday routines. Caretech also helps families understand available care options and programs, including Medicaid and Veterans care, so they can make informed decisions about the support that works best for their situation. One common misconception is that in-home care is only for people who need extensive or around-the-clock assistance. In reality, someone may benefit from just a few hours of support with meals, errands, personal care, companionship, or other daily activities. Another misconception is that receiving help means giving up independence. The goal of home care is often the opposite. The right support can help someone continue their routines, stay connected to their community, and remain at home safely for as long as possible. Caretec h suggests that families should start the conversation before care becomes an emergency. Ask potential providers about caregiver screening and training, communication with families, scheduling, how they respond when needs change, and their experience with different payment or assistance programs. Most importantly, look for a provider that listens to the person receiving care. KERIN ZUGER Caretech starts by listening. Every person has different routines, preferences, strengths, needs, and goals. Their team takes time to understand what matters most to the individual and their family, then helps coordinate care around those needs and their approved plan. They also stay connected with families as needs change, because the right level of support today may look different several months from now.
Quality home care should respect a senior and their family’s preferences, routines, choices and dignity while giving families confidence that they have support when they need it. Senior living can be can be safe yet independent with Caretech. For seniors and their families, finding the right senior living community is about more than just finding a place to live. It is also about finding a place where residents can feel comfortable, connected and involved. At Brookestone Meadows, creating that type of environment is a big part of what they do every day. As part of the Vetter Senior Living family, Brookestone Meadows focuses

SENIOR LIVING on creating a community where residents feel supported and respected while still having the independence to do the things they enjoy. Activities and programs are based around each resident’s interests, abilities and needs, giving everyone the opportunity to stay active and involved. From community outings and social events to clubs and everyday conversations, residents have plenty of ways to connect with others and build relationships. Brookestone Meadows also focuses on residents’ physical and emotional well-being while helping them find activities that give them a sense of purpose. One trend the community is seeing is that seniors today want to stay busy, social and connected. Many residents are comfortable with technology and are interested in trying new activities and experiences. Having those opportunities allows residents to continue exploring their interests while staying involved in their community. For families, seeing their loved ones happy, active and involved can also provide peace of mind. At Brookestone Meadows, the goal is to make residents feel like they are truly part of a community, whether that comes from a big event, a new experience or something as simple as a conversation and a smile. Visibility matters, especially in a market as competitive and talent-rich as Omaha. One of the most effective ways to build recognition and credibility is through active involvement. Across Omaha, organizations play a vital role in bringing industries together, providing education and resources, and creating partnerships that drive meaningful progress throughout our local economy. Twice each year, in March and September, Strictly Business highlights organizations across our community through our Joining Organizations feature. This feature gives local groups a dedicated space to share who they are, what they’re working toward, and how others can get involved. From membership benefits and partnership opportunities to upcoming initiatives and community impact efforts, our goal is to help these organizations expand their reach and connect with the people and businesses they serve.
