LITTLE AND BIG FREEDOMS

Some of us find freedom in the mountains, others on the high seas or gliding across lakes, and then others, in architecture, interiors, design, art or music – or else simply at home, if it’s a home that guarantees comfort and highest living quality. High above the clouds, freedom has no limits. That’s something you can now experience personally: freedom on demand, uncomplicated, efficient, supervised and individually looked after.

Inspirations for other new freedoms can be found in this new edition. The fleet partner of GlobeAir, for example, generates new standards of luxury, performance and innovation through brand-new models. These are standards which also international culinary chefs subscribe to, who regularly land at a well-travelled gourmet location. Or another freedom: techno-fashions which mimic the Olympic Games, stylish and charged with energy, provide comfort and first-class performance, and not only on the ski slopes. Furthermore: generating worlds of fine living where you feel at home when you really are at home, constitutes the centrepiece of internationally successful interior designers and furnishers. And the ideal framework for such freedom-enhanced spaces? Look no further: refined, luxurious, exquis-itely furnished real estate choices fill this edition.

Other inspiring “freedom angels” in this edition can be found in the reports about legendary brands of sports cars; about a private member club which is dedicated to just such automobile icons, a company which has grown over the course of generations from a ropemaking workshop to a premium furnisher; and to extravagant design highlights and brands which we discovered as far away as Copenhagen. Whoever wants to feel the freedom of new, better health only needs to read about biohacking and longevity in this issue, complete with tips and addresses. Liberation for sophisticated interior fans? These are presented in a selection of exquisite pieces of furniture and accessories. And last but not least: with freewheeling styles of the sizzling new winter & sports collections, you will be superbly outfitted for the glamourous events in the Alps. The freedoms simply won’t end.

We wish you a pleasant flight and lots of enjoyment in reading this edition.

With warm regards, Walter & Etha Taferner Publishers

»JET OWNERSHIP, ELEVATED – TAILORED PLANS, GUARANTEED AVAILABILITY. EVERY TRAVELLER HAS A RHYTHM. FOR SOME, IT’S TWO MEETINGS A WEEK ACROSS EUROPEAN CITIES. FOR OTHERS, IT’S SPONTANEOUS ESCAPES TO THE COAST OR REGULAR FLIGHTS TO SECOND HOMES IN THE ALPS. WHAT THEY ALL SHARE IS THE DESIRE FOR SEAMLESS AIR TRAVEL THAT ADAPTS TO THEIR NEEDS, WITHOUT THE COMPLEXITY OF MANAGING A JET.

GGlobeAir’s Fractional Ownership Programme offers just that: a refined solution tailored to your lifestyle, granting co-ownership in a brandnew Cessna Citation M2 – a light jet designed for efficient European travel, both business and leisure.

TAILORED OWNERSHIP FOR FREQUENT FLYERS

This is not a one-size-fits-all model. Ownership shares begin at 12.5% – equivalent to 60 flight hours annually – and scale up to 25% or 50%, depending on how often you fly. Whether for weekly business commutes or frequent leisure trips, the structure gives you the hours you need, with the flexibility to adjust over time.

Choose between a three-year or five-year term to suit your preferences. Shorter terms offer flexibility, while longer agreements deliver greater value over time. And should your priorities shift, GlobeAir provides resale assistance to ensure a smooth transition. This is ownership that adapts – not anchors.

GUARANTEED AVAILABILITY, NO BLACKOUT DATES

GlobeAir sets a new standard in reliability. With Europe’s largest fleet of Citation Mustang jets available for operational flexibility, your flights are always covered – even during peak demand. As a fractional owner, you’ll always fly with a GlobeAir aircraft, operated by GlobeAir pilots and supported by the company’s in-house service team. Consistency, comfort, and peace of mind come as standard. There are no blackout dates, peak-day premiums, or repositioning fees. All operational costs are included in one transparent monthly fee.

FRACTIONAL OWNERSHIP WITH GLOBEAIR OFFERS MORE THAN ACCESS – IT’S A SMARTER, MORE TRANSPARENT WAY TO FLY PRIVATELY.

A COMPLETE AVIATION SOLUTION, BACKED BY 17 YEARS OF EXPERTISE

With over 17 years in private aviation, GlobeAir is one of Europe’s most trusted operators. More than just an aircraft provider, GlobeAir manages every element of the journey in-house – from flight planning and crew training to maintenance, insurance, and daily operations.

This fully integrated approach ensures reliability and control at every step, with round-the-clock coordination, multilingual support, and a dedicated team for fractional owners – delivering a level of consistency that no other operator can match.

THE RIGHT JET. THE SMARTER CHOICE.

The Cessna Citation M2 is a modern light jet offering speed, comfort, and efficiency. With seating for up to six passengers and access to short runways, it’s ideal for reaching Europe’s key destinations quickly and conveniently.

Fractional ownership with GlobeAir offers more than access – it’s a smarter, more transparent way to fly privately. You know your jet, your hours, and your costs in advance, giving you confidence in every journey.

ROOMS THAT TELL STORIES

THE ALL-ENCOMPASSING WORLD OF BERND GRUBER

IT STARTS, INVARIABLY, WITH A PERSONAL CHAT. NOT ABOUT FURNITURE OR COLOURS, BUT RATHER ABOUT PEOPLE AND THEIR HABITS, THEIR DESIRES, WISHES, AND THEIR DESIGNS AND HOPES FOR LIFE. AT BERND GRUBER, DESIGN IS ABOUT MUCH, MUCH MORE THAN THE AESTHETIC DRAFT OF A ROOM – IT IS THE TRANSLATION OF PERSONAL IDENTITY INTO THE LANGUAGE OF SPATIAL IMPACT. THIS PHILOSOPHY LEAVES ITS INDELIBLE STAMP ON EVERY SINGLE OBJECT, WHETHER IN THE ALPS, A PULSATING METROPOLIS, OR AN INTERNATIONAL COASTLINE DESTINATION.

AFROM KITZBÜHEL TO MUNICH, FROM BERLIN TO LOS ANGELES

t the beginning of every design process, lies the “empathy workshop” – an intensive day on which the designers and builders engage in a deep and ponderous dialogue. The question at hand is to discover, to grasp, to comprehend the lifestyle, routines, values and finely grained nuances which are intended to later leave their imprint on the atmosphere of a room. Visualizations, mood-boards and renderings are all tiny support measures to help them find their way towards shared pictures and categories such as “modern” or “highly restrained” and then fill them with life. Precisely this all-embracing understanding between two parties is what forms the foundations of rooms which are thought-through down to the most minute detail and, in the end, represent a highly individual stance and mindset.

BESPOKE WORK – LOCAL ORIGIN, INTERNATIONAL POTENCY

From Kitzbühel to Munich, from Berlin to Los Angeles – the projects of Bernd Gruber reflect a dazzling multiplicity of international spheres of life and living. Each and every project is unique. It bears the stamp of the cultural identity of a given place as well as the deeply personal feeling-for-life of its inhabitants. No matter whether it is an alpine chalet, with corresponding architecture, an urban city home or a minimalistic villa on the Pacific – the signature is distinctive, is unmistakable: clear lines, high-end materials, timeless compositions.

The company’s own manufacturing facilities in Stuhlfelden near Salzburg bring together traditional carpentry and hand-workmanship with the most daringly modern manufacturing facilities. Here, custom-made furniture and built-in components and installations are generated whose quality makes the ultimate difference. And...whose essentialness tells its own story. Sustainability is not a trend for them, it is the living, breathing daily practice of their work: regional resources, long-lived workmanship, logistics which are thought through to the final end point.

The strength of Bernd Gruber lies not merely in the quality of the designs and the high degree of expertise in their functionality, but in their ability to grasp cultural distinctions and translate them into a universal design feeling. International projects demand an extraordinary degree of sensitivity – for styles which meld with the typical countryside as well as for the expectations of a public which thinks globally. The end result: curated rooms which function anywhere and everywhere in the world without losing one iota of their uniqueness.

TIMELESS ELEGANCE INTERCONNECTING FAR-REACHING STARS

The draft designs are invariably launched with a stable, timeless skeletal structure. Atop that, flexible elements full of character are added, absorbing trends as they go along without ever submitting to them. Thus, interiors are generated which have a capacity to stand the test of time, yet can at the same time transform themselves. Bernd Gruber doesn’t just create rooms, Bernd Gruber generates worlds of living in which people feel they are perceived, taken seriously, understood and also feel right at home, regardless on which continent of the earth.

FROM TRADITION INTO THE FUTURE

Today, Bernd Gruber Interior is operating in its third generation. Under the direction of Philipp Gruber, son of Bernd, Michael Gruber (brother) and Philipp Hoflehner, the internationally active family enterprise in the branch of exclusive interior architecture is renowned for its work far beyond our local borders. The traditions of hand-workmanship are its uppermost imperative, alongside the latest developments of contemporary interior design. Under the aegis of these guiding lights, Bernd Gruber pursues its outstanding feel for the innermost wishes of its clients and a far-reaching degree of competence in planning. Beginning with the selection of architects and the concept of coordinating individual works, all the way to accompanying the actual construction until realization is complete, their striving towards high value and high quality is without compromise. It is visible in all the projects of Bernd Gruber through the interweaving of local operations and international designs.

PHILIPP HOFLEHNER, MANAGING DIRECTOR

As one of the three managing directors, Philipp Hoflehner orchestrates the strategic orientation as well as the creative signature of the business, without ever losing sight of the fundamental values of the company’s founder. With a truly sensitive feel for the needs and desires of highly demanding clients and a sure-footed understanding of clear and timeless designs, he leads the company by means of a crystal-clear vision and high competence in achieving value. The consequential realization of outstanding detailed work based on empathy-driven understanding of and agreement with the client, quality without compromise and a strict adherence to the value-based principles of their brand together underline their claim to all-encompassing resonance which accompanies each idea until it reaches its ultimate implementation and, at the same time, ushers the company sustainably another step into the future.

WHEN DESIGN BECOMES ART

THE “3 DAYS OF DESIGN” IN COPENHAGEN ARE CERTAIN TO DELIVER SURPRISES TO ALL DESIGN FANS. AND THE SAME THING APPLIES FOR STREIFZUG. WHILE STROLLING THROUGH BREDGADE, WELL-KNOWN FAR AND WIDE AS THE DESIGNER STREET OF THE CITY, WE DISCOVERED A VERY SPECIAL HIGHLIGHT FOR YOU: THE SHOWROOM OF TONEART, IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE ROYAL PALACE (KONGENS NYTORV), WITH AN EXCLUSIVE PRESENTATION OF WORKS BY THE ILLUSTRIOUS DANISH DESIGNER POUL HENNINGSEN.

TToneArt is a young Danish brand which presents some of the most fascinating pieces of furniture, piano and audio designs in Scandinavia hailing back to past times, stemming from present modes, and reaching into the future, all with the express goal of enriching everyday life with functional products which are simultaneously valuable works of art. Deeply rooted in the opulent design traditions of Scandinavia, ToneArt has the world-wide and exclusive license from the Poul Henningsen family to produce and market the outstanding piano, furniture and mirror designs by Poul Henningsen ranging from the 1920s through the mid-1950s. All these PH designs are to be considered Danish cultural legacy pieces but have never been in any real production before ToneArt acquired the license and started production in stages over the last decade.

Today, ToneArt has brought a full collection of PH designs to life. Additionally, ToneArt is working with contemporary Scandinavian furniture designers and crafting unique design glass ball speakers with high fidelity sound quality. The large showroom of ToneArt – located right in the heart of Copenhagen – is a journey into a world of lifestyle where innovation meets legacy, setting new standards for authentic designs that are playing on all senses in life and providing sensory experiences.

POUL HENNINGSEN …

... created functional design concepts which were frequently provocative. Everything which PH – that is his nom de plume” and trademark at the same time – generated, followed with astonishing consequence along the lines of one sole principle: it had to be simple, functional and brought straight to the point, whether it was architecture and furniture or cultural criticism and poetry. With this philosophy, PH ushered Danish living styles into the modern era and left his indelible stamp on them.

Pictures: © ToneArt

Apart from lighting, piano and furniture designs, he also designed houses, a factory, a city-sector of Tivoli, the interior furnishings of two theatres and several pianos – every single item became a timeless icon of design. As one of the Danish experts for lighting, he generated as far back as 1925, for example, a lighting fixture without any glare or reflection – an icon of lighting which was awarded the gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris. It is still being manufactured today and enjoys far-reaching demand from clients globally.

THE PH PIANOS

The PH Pianos are hidden gems and true functional artworks, and all authentic PH Pianos are now crafted in-house by ToneArt. PH Pianos are sculptural pianos, genuinely designed in the 1930s by the real world-renowned designer. They are statements in form, colour, and intention with a clear design philosophy like no other piano on the market. Authentic PH Pianos are artworks that inspire, provoke and talk to the audience and owners and provide sensory experiences for daily joy and as investment pieces for the next generation of the family. All authentic PH Pianos from ToneArt – ranging from the most iconic glass-lid PH Grand Piano designed in 1930, over the stunning looking PH Bow Grand Piano from 1937 and resembling the Opera House in Sydney and to the beautiful PH Upright Piano – are true hand-craftsmanship pianos that can only be configured

according to a limited range of materials and colours in full line with the approvals of the Poul Henningsen family in order to keep true to the original PH design. All PH Pianos by ToneArt are delivered together with a hand-crafted leather box and authenticity documents, thereby ensuring that authentic PH Pianos also become lifelong investments.

THE SCULPTURAL ELEGANCE OF PH FURNITURE

Poul Henningsen’s artistic encounter – or perhaps one should say, confrontation, as a pioneer of functionalism in Denmark – was fundamentally inspired by the Bauhaus designer principles. “We wish for ourselves no new shapes and forms unless they are dictated by a purpose,” was its founding principle and leading light. People who are interested in the iconic, functional furniture designs of PH are by nature curious. They treasure the multi-faceted diversity as well as the lightness of being, they love the extraordinary and the unusual, are attract-

ed to what is provocative, drawn to what is inspiring. The fact that each and every piece inimitably bonds artistic expression and rocksolid functionality, thereby raising the sophistication and the value of the room in which it stands – for it makes the room its own – harmonizes both with traditional and classical, yet also with modern and avant-garde interiors.

Currently, PH Furniture pieces and PH Pianos are experiencing a rather high-flying renaissance, thanks to ToneArt and the Founder & CEO Søren Vincents Svendsen who travels all over the world to raise attention to Danish cultural heritage pieces that are being brought to the market for the first time. Lovers, fans, adherents, collectors and connoisseurs of design all over the world are now able to feel, experience and acquire the timeless elegance and power of innovation right here – in series, thanks to modern manufacturing techniques – as well as in individually adapted hand-workmanship quality in absolute perfection.

THERE IS FURNITURE WHICH MEETS WITH APPROVAL, FINDS PLEASURE. AND THEN, THERE IS FURNITURE WHICH PERSISTS, WHICH ABIDES. WHOEVER KNOWS JANUA, KNOWS: THIS BRAND STANDS FOR THE LATTER. SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 2005 IN ARMSTORF, UPPER BAVARIA, THIS FURNITURE MANUFACTURE HAS NEVER FOLLOWED A TREND, BUT INSTEAD, A DEEP-DOWN UNDERSTANDING OF THE VALUES WHICH PERSEVERE, WHICH STAND THE TEST OF TIME.

REFLECTIONS ON THE DESIRE FOR WHAT 'S

”A

desire for what is genuine,” is not just a motto. It is an attitude and a demanding way of life. One which can be reflected in each and every detail: in the scent of massive woods, in the textures of finely finished edges, in a commitment to the origins of the stone which has been sculpted and machined. Founder Christian Seisenberger has for two decades pursued a singular vision which can best be expressed by his personal innovative claim to form, to design: to generate furniture, which is not loud, but which is long-lived. In function, in form, in feeling.

At Janua, what is created is furniture with character. These pieces tell stories about their beginnings, about their handcraftsmanship. Janua does not see furniture as a trend, but rather, envisions it as a timeless accompaniment of people on their path through life. At the focal point are genuine materials: massive wood, carefully selected and worked, as well as natural stone which lends the collections an earth-based quiet and depth.

What places its indelible stamp on the brand more than anything else are the innovative surface refinements with which Janua truly sets new standards. Technical measures such as exposure to smoke and charcoal burning have not only been newly interpreted by Janua, they have heightened the level of designing furniture another huge notch in this context. In this effort, wood is blackened either through controlled heat (charcoal-burning) or refined and ennobled in its hues and structures through very particular acids (‘smoking’). The end result: surfaces with unending character, both vivacious and inimitable.

THE NEW T-ROX SERIES

A table can be a lot of different things. At Janua, it becomes a statement. With the T-Rox series in their anniversary year 2025, designed by the renowned designer-duo Birgit Hoffmann & Christoph Kahleyss, a piece of furniture was generated which lingers somewhere between art and architecture, nonetheless stays grounded on solid earth.

The centrepiece of the series evolves from the powerful and iconic T-Foot. Finished, according to taste, either in massive wood or noble natural stone, which lends the table not only stability, but also a nearly monumental presence. It doesn’t dominate the room, but rather, defines it through its tranquil resoluteness. The tabletop – whether round, oval, square or rectangular – contrasts with this strength through its softly rounded corners which lend the massive material a certain lightness.

Particularly fascinating is the dynamic interplay of materials: a warm tabletop atop cool stone gener-

ates a new type of sensuousness. This is then complemented further, rounded out through benches, consoles, couch tables in the self-same optical design.

ORCHESTRATED IN SPRONKEN HOUSE

In order to make the attitude which stands behind the T-Rox series palpable, Janua decided to tread a path seldom taken. For the visual production the team revolving around Christian Seisenberger travelled to the Spanish region of Castellón to the artistic refuge of the Dutch sculptor Xander Spronken.

There, in a house built of raw concrete, rippled through and through with six-metre-high pillars and flooded with natural light through room-high glass fronts, you are confronted with architecture in its most robust and, at the same time, its most poetic form. In the middle of this potent stillness, the T-Rox series discloses its whole richness, its all-encompassing effectiveness.

A TABLE CAN BE A LOT OF DIFFERENT THINGS. AT JANUA, IT BECOMES A STATEMENT.

Through T-Rox, Janua has succeeded in taking the next highly consequential step in its own design evolution. The series draws together material competence, architectural philosophy and a truly extraordinary picture language to form a holistic design concept. Not only in a room, but as an overall creative process.

CORTINA D' AMPEZZO QUEEN OF THE DOLOMITES

Whether by lift or on foot, the Cinque Torri is a must-see in real life – not just in “Cliffhanger” with Sylvester Stallone.

YOU CAN COMPARE HER TO A PEARL, FOR CORTINA D’AMPEZZO IS WREATHED LIKE A PRECIOUS NECKLACE BY THE STRIKING CLIFFS AND ROCK FORMATIONS OF THE 3000-METRE PEAKS OF THE DOLOMITES, WHICH SEEM TO BE LOOKING AFTER, PROTECTING HER. HER HISTORY IS DEEPLY MOVING, NATURE’S BACKDROP RESEMBLES A STAGE SET. QUITE CONSCIOUS OF HER ATTRACTIVENESS, MOVIE DIRECTORS, WRITERS, ORGANIZERS AND ARTISTS HAVE COME TO ORCHESTRATE THEIR STORIES IN THIS RENOWNED SPOT, REAPING ITS UNTOLD ADVANTAGES. YET IN SPITE OF ALL THE WORLDLY TEMPTATIONS, THE QUEEN OF THE DOLOMITES REMAINS FIRMLY GROUNDED, INSEPARABLY LINKED TO EARTH, AND IS PROUD OF ITS MULTI-FACETED AND HIGHLY TALENTED RESIDENTS. Text:

Barbara Schneeberger

YET IT IS THOSE WITH A YEARNING TO KNOW HOW THINGS CAME ABOUT HISTORICALLY WHO ARE PARTICULARLY REWARDED IN CORTINA D‘AMPEZZO, FOR THE PLEASURES ARE THEREBY DEEPENED.

At a 64% gradient, the Women’s Ski World Cup racers reach speeds of over 130 km/hr on the challenging “Tofana Schuss” section of the Olimpia delle Tofane course.

ortina d’Ampezzo has occupied an unshakeable pedestal in the minds of many people as a wintertime sports mecca ever since 1956, when the tiny Italian city was chosen as noble venue for the Olympic Winter Games and presented itself to the world. And today, seventy years later, from 6th to 22nd February 2026, the Olympic torch will once again be set aflame in Northern Italy. Cortina d’Ampezzo will without doubt rise once again to fulfil her role as such a longstanding reputation demands, as an outstanding hostess to the world, when alpine skiing women, bobsled, skeleton, toboggan and curling let loose their competitions here. But insiders, nature lovers, activists of all genres as well as historians know quite well that the town nestled at 1211 metres altitude possesses uncountable charms and attractions above and beyond the uproar and glory-seeking fanfare of Winter Olympics.

MOTIFS LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE

Among the most prominent reasons is the absolutely peerless gigantic natural setting of the most striking mountain massif of the Dolomites, the Tofane, along with the rough-hewn rock formations of Cinque Torri which are beloved goals of mountaineers and photographers alike. Their lenses seem to never grow tired in their search for unusual, or impressive, or gaspingly breathtaking motifs. Everywhere you look, scenes ranging from the resplendent to the sublime unfold to the eye: the magnificent panorama of the mountain pass named Passo di Giau, the picturesque Fanes Waterfalls, the seductive lakes, the stunning churches, the painted frescoes at the “Ciàsa de I Pùpe” in the lovely inner city dotted with cafés, restaurants and boutiques...the list could be extended to fill pages of attractions.

AN EVENTFUL HISTORY

Yet it is those with a yearning to know how things came about historically who are particularly rewarded in Cortina d‘Ampezzo, for the pleasures are thereby deepened. Its history goes back a long way, to when megalodons were the masters of the tropical seas, to a time before the Dolomites had even formed. In the Paleontological Museum Rinaldo Zardini there is a rich collection of valuable Triassic fossils. Millions of years later this town was established through its trade in wood as well as by providing an important route traversing the Alps. When in 1511 Cortina d‘Ampezzo was incorporated into the Austro-Hungarian Empire where it was destined to remain for more than 400 years, a fascinating cultural agglomeration evolved here out of Ladin (in the RhaetoRomanche group), Tirolean and Italian traditions. These roots are visible in the city even today, evident in its customs, religion, language, cuisine and background teachings. That is something most enjoyably discovered on a stroll through town, in the churches, at El Cianpanìn (Cortina’s bell tower), at the numerous museums, art galleries and city events.

The cable car from Cortina d’Ampezzo ascends to the Cima Tofana at 3244 metres in three stages, overcoming a total elevation gain of 2200 metres.

Picture:

A strategically important location during World War I, the Falzarego

is now a favourite among cyclists and motorcyclists, with demanding climbs, hairpin bends, and breathtaking views.

The historic finale of the monarchy can be experienced palpably on a wide variety of hikes, such as around Cinque Torri. The redoubts and embattled nests in the murderous defensive fronts of World War I from 1915 to 1917 remain examples without parallel of that cataclysm, when Austrians and Italians faced off against each other all around Col di Lana, the Tofane and the Lagazuoi, rising majestically above the Falzarego Pass. Special exhibitions and museums devoted to these events round out the historical records of the time and still move human memory.

A SOUGHT-AFTER STAR

And then, Cortina d‘Ampezzo rose like a phoenix out of the ashes: in the 1920s European aristocrats made skiing as a sport popular, spreading over Monte Faloria and the Tofane, while daredevil English mountain climbers were suddenly idealized role models. In the 1930s, writers followed in their footsteps, such as Hemingway who came here again and again in order to do research for his book “A Farewell to Arms.” Equally unforgettable, of course, were the movies that were shot here, such as “The Pink Panther” (1963), the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only” (1981) or “Cliffhanger” with Sylvester Stallone (1993). Today Cortina still serves up spellbinding settings for films and series as their shooting location, for example, the Netflix film “My Name is Vendetta”, the series “Lift” or the “Cinepanettone Cortina Express” (2024). For all these reasons, it is no wonder that people from all over the world have made pilgrimages to Cortina d’Ampezzo in order to experience for themselves these legendary sites and locations: the city centre, the train station, the Olympic Ice-Skating Stadium, the Tofane cablecar and lots more besides.

PLEASURES WITHOUT END

Yet without any doubt, it is sports which are most closely connected with Cortina d’Ampezzo. In wintertime, skiers and snowboarders float atop the snow and zip down 120 superbly prepared ski runs, while cross-country fans power out their limits on about 70 km of skiing trails. Summer is played out under the aegis of golfers, hikers, climbers and mountainbikers, who spend both challenging and pleasurable days here. And speaking of pleasure: that peculiarly Italian feeling for good living, bursting with great food and ‘la dolce vita’ is just as integral a part of Cortina d’Ampezzo as are the interiors of the places to enjoy them in, all of its venues bearing the stamp of local handcraftsmanship. Scores of restaurants draw together these worlds to perfection with their opulent offerings of fish and sea food, hearty and robust traditional dishes as well as the classical regional specialties, such as Casunziei – moon-shaped ravioli stuffed with red beets, melted butter and poppy seeds. Accompanying this gem are regional wines, homemade craft beer and other local specialties, invariably in a cosy traditional ambience. An additional facet helping visitors to immerse into the incomparable feeling-for-life in Cortina is on offer in more than 300 local shops in the vibrant and thriving city centre. A veritable cornucopia of age-old handicrafts, prestigious fashion labels, antiques and design trends makes eyes open wide and jaws drop. Our insider recommendation: the Shopping Centre Cooperativa has more than 4000m2 of shops which proffer more than 100,000 different products for your delectation.

AlphaTauri sets high focus on fusing fashion and sports, so the brand operates within a world where design isn‘t just aesthetic – it’s designed to move, provide comfort, and functionality all at the same time.

TOGETHER THEY ARE STRONGER

From day one, the collaboration was anchored in shared values: innovation, speed, and a strong focus on details. AlphaTauri’s team brought fashion and design expertise, while the Austrian Olympic Committee delivered insight from decades of elite competition. They also invited athletes to be involved in the process, to receive feedback and to collaborate on the needs and requirements, from an athlete’s point of view – as for example snowboarder Benjamin Karl. “It was an absolute privilege to be involved at such an early stage, because normally no one gets to see these pieces this soon. And it’s an honour to be part of the process and contribute,” said the Lower Austrian, who won Olympic gold in Beijing in 2022, silver in Vancouver in 2010, and bronze in Sochi in 2014. “As a four-time Olympian, I know what we need, what might have been missing in the past, and what we athletes actually want to wear. AlphaTauri is the perfect partner for that – they combine fashion and technology with a unique standard that sets them apart from all other brands in this segment.”

With design details like thermal closures, modular layering, and travel-adapted fits AlphaTauri ensures that the athletes stay ready for every occasion. But the collection also represents something deeper: a sense of community. It unifies the Olympic Team Austria in terms of appearance and feeling.

READY – SET – GO

With the involvement of athletes in the design and testing process AlphaTauri ensured that the final pieces met the concrete realities of life of an Olympian – not just ideal conditions. The result is a uniform that reflects the demands of the Games themselves: “The outfits need to have this functionality – it can be very cold, it can be wet, it can be different every time, with varying weather conditions,” says Florian Gosch, Secretary General of the Austrian Olympic Committee. “There’s a lot of different situations and I think with these outfits we are well prepared for all conditions which might occur in Milano Cortina.”

The collaboration isn’t confined only to the slopes. The outfits will also accompany athletes to the Presidential swearing-in ceremony ahead of the Games – a moment of pride for the Olympic Team Austria where design and symbolism collide.

As Austria heads to Milano Cortina in 2026, AlphaTauri made one thing clear: the athletes are dressed not just to compete – but to stand together.

ABOUT ALPHATAURI:

THE EMBODIMENT OF VIENNESE HOSPITALITY

JUST A FEW MINUTES' WALK FROM THE VIENNA OPERA HOUSE, THE EPONYMOUS BOUTIQUE HOTEL ZUR WIENER STAATSOPER HAS BEEN SPOILING INTERNATIONAL GUESTS WITH A PREFERENCE FOR ART, CULTURE, MUSIC AND HIGH-QUALITY CUISINE THANKS TO ITS PERSONALIZED HOSPITALITY FOR A YEAR NOW.

Staatsoper
The unique façade in Viennese Wilhelminian style architecture is the first highlight you will enjoy when arriving at the hotel.

ocated in the heart of the city of Vienna, Hotel Zur Wiener Staatsoper is a veritable architectural jewel. The secret tip opened in March 2024 and provides the perfect point of departure for your tours of exploration and discovery in Vienna’s city centre. Located between the Vienna Opera House and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, this boutique hotel is an exclusive and inspiring refuge for visitors. Whereas culture lovers treasure the proximity to the most important museums, exhibitions and cultural institutions of Vienna, business travellers and other leisure guests love the absolutely tranquil but central location.

Right at the beginning of the day, an à-la-carte breakfast which alternates with the changing seasons spoils guests with a plethora of regional specialties, which – with some luck – are served personally by the Chef de Petit Déjeuner himself. During the daytime hours, the hotel team provides a bespoke concierge service, combining personal attention with Viennese charm to create unique and memorable experiences in Vienna. In such a way, the hotel often becomes a veritable home-away-from-home for its guests. Each and every stay is gilded by a very personal touch, or, as the hotel manager Victoria Klinkhammer puts it: “As a team, we have a soul, bringing this intimate hideaway to life and cultivating a very personal relationship with our guests.”

FOLLOWING ITS HISTORY, OUR HOTEL RADIATES AUTHENTICITY AND HISTORICAL ELEGANCE. BASED ON UNIQUENESS AND OUR VERY PERSONALIZED HOSPITALITY, WE ARE PROUD TO BE PART OF PRETTY HOTELS.

A VIENNESE TOUCH... WITH INIMITABLE RELAXATION

Equally individual are also the 12 rooms and suites, as well as the two-bedroom penthouse with its own terrace and dream-come-true view of St. Stephen's Cathedral, designed to perfection. Each one bears the name of a famous composer, for example, Mahler, Strauss, Mozart or Tchaikovsky, who are said having stayed at this very special place. The interior decoration of the Neo-Baroque inspired rooms are the creation of London designer Nina Campbell, who generated interiors which are both contemporary and timeless, with huge attention to detail as well as harmonious colours and materials, including wall hangings which were selected in paisley patterns for the walls, herringbone parquet flooring, accompanied by highly modern bathrooms in their own inimitable style. Local carpenters and manufactures have provided a particularly Viennese touch and the much-praised cosiness of this boutique hotel.

A BUILDING LIKE A JEWEL ITSELF

Often affectionately called a “gem“ or “jewel“ by its hosts, the 18th century building also looks like a precious architectural pearl from the outside – thanks to its unique façade in Viennese Wilhelminian style architecture. In order to truly savour this degree of beauty in the warm seasons of the year, a separate guest garden is currently in the planning for 2026

AS A TEAM, WE HAVE A SOUL, BRINGING THIS INTIMATE HIDEAWAY TO LIFE AND CULTIVATING A VERY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR GUESTS.

which will also be open to non-hotel guests, in order to provide pre-opera cocktails or an after-shopping drink to all those who know how to value such a cadre. However, external guests can already enjoy the high-quality à la carte breakfast in the small salon – the boutique hotel’s “Schmuckstückchen”, if they book in advance.

NESTLED IN AN ELEGANT, PERSONAL AMBIENCE

...

... the fine breakfast menu offers culinary surprises at their best: ranging from Viennese classics served on étagères, from porridge and French Toast all the way to seasonally changing egg dishes. As a result of the truly unique location in the immediate vicinity of the local luxury boutiques, some of which are traditional Viennese artisan businesses, international museums, the “House of Music” or from the so-called “Viennese Secession” at the turn of the century, breakfast can easily be combined with a marvellous shopping tour in the inner city or with a visit to one of the current art exhibitions. And afterwards, a delicious lunch at one of Vienna’s top restaurants is right around the corner.

It is not merely rooms which are created at Egetemeier, but more, namely, rooms which are lived in. Places where human personalities can unfold, evolve, where materials will tell their own stories, where handcraftsmanship becomes visible, palpable. Since 1955, Egetemeier has been emblematic of a very special attitude: living culture built upon substance. And for a promise: to generate rooms which will last way beyond the current trends.

Today – 70 years later – their age-old promise is more up to date than ever. In an epoch which is too often marked by fleeting ephemerality and short-lived replaceability, Egetemeier sets high store in the diametric opposite: in thoughtfulness, depth and quality. Against the backdrop of its anniversary, this high-minded attitude has been put indelibly on record – visually – at a photo shooting which places not rooms but human beings at stage centre. The photographs let you discover the people behind the projects – a team of men and women with immense experience under their belts, with a sensitivity and fineness of feeling, and with genuine enthusiasm for generating rooms that have staying power.

Pictures:

For three generations, Egetemeier has evolved with this high-minded demeanour. What began as a small artisanry operation is today a studio with international perspectives and abiding roots of handcraftsmanship. Their aspiration is articulated with decades of confidence: to create a harmonious overall composition out of high-quality premium materials, selected design pieces and individual planning. Synchronized, colour-coordinated and harmonized with the actual living reality of the clients. Implemented with love and a great attentiveness to detail. As well as respect for the all-encompassing whole.

Two spots in Munich mirror this claim to perfection: the Interior Design Studio on Nymphenburger Straße – a place where people communicate with each other, a place of inspiration and discovery. And the Minotti Store on Oskar von Miller Ring – a stage for Italian design gems and meticulously orchestrated room creations. Both places reflect their origins and speak their message loud and clear: living culture is never a manufactured product at Egetemeier, rather, it is the ultimate end point of a path undertaken together. “Cultivating interiors since 1955” – this epithet brings it all down to one single point that reveals the innermost identity of Egetemeier: rooms generated with a highminded attitude. Projects which

LIVING CULTURE IS NEVER A MANUFACTURED PRODUCT, BUT RATHER, IT IS THE ULTIMATE END POINT OF A PATH UNDERTAKEN TOGETHER.

draw people together, interconnect them. Designs which endure. Also into the future, Egetemeier can be relied upon to continue this selfsame long-triedand-tested path: with their own collection, new technologies for visualizing room possibilities, and most of all, with that which defines the company at its essence: they have time to talk things over. They treasure the value of materials. They have passion for rooms which are far more than just beautiful, they are unshakably spot-on. For the client. Forever.

“70 years of Egetemeier” is a Thank You note to all those who have gone this path together with them, as well as an invitation to those who wish to continue to go this path with the Egetemeier team into the future.

INTERIOR TECHNOLOGY WITH STYLE

COLOUR TRENDS: A “PERFECT MATCH” WITH THE TIMELESSLY BEAUTIFUL PRODUCTS BY SMART HOME PIONEER GIRA

WWhen furnishing rooms that are to be lived in, the central factor remains selecting the right colour combinations. They are what give the room its character, its style, its atmosphere. And thus, it is no wonder that the colour trends are awaited, each and every year, with fervent excitement.

A glance into this year revealed a clear-cut focus on sustainability and progress. The colour trends unveiled a fascinating amalgam of natural hues and innovative materials. The experts from their branch at Gira have examined the RAL trend colours down deep and up close. The timelessly beautiful design lines by Gira are once again a perfect match with the latest colour trends.

FROM FUNCTIONAL TO SENSUOUS

The RAL-colour trends report takes us on a fascinating journey through five inspiring colour palettes which revolutionize both architecture and design. They provide countless options in the ongoing quest to bring together personal style and the functionality of modern interior design.

FUNCTIONAL AND CLEAR –HARMONY FOR ALL FIVE SENSES

The “Functional” palette is distinguished by gentle pastel tones that have both a quieting and an inspiring effect. These shades generate a clear, calm atmosphere which place the focus on serene productivity and clarity. They are especially well suited for working spaces and kitchens. Colours such as soft beige or a finely toned pale grey manage to make a room appear instantly precise and orderly without seeming overly cool or in the slightest sterile. With limpid elegance, Gira products offer the perfect complement to this colour world by accentuating lucidity and comfortable ease in their form.

SENSUOUS AND GOODNATURED – VIBRANT ENERGY

“Sensual” is a display of fireworks bursting forth in vibrant colours that literally radiate energy and enthusiasm. Vigorous orange and red tones dominate this palette, thereby generating dynamic rooms which invite everyone to interaction and communication. They inject bounce, impetus and vitality into

every home – ideal for areas that you want to present as pulsating and exhilarating, regardless whether that is an inspiring living room or a creative conference room.

ETHICAL AND BALANCING –A PILLAR OF STRENGTH

The “Ethical” palette embodies stability and endurance through a line of warm, earth-coloured hues. These shades generate a feeling of security and trust, perfectly suited for rooms where you want to deepen the relaxation and equilibrium. Natural brown tints and beige tones, combined with timeless elegance, are the perfect choice for cosy zones of refuge and retreat.

EMOTIONAL AND MELLOW –CREATIVE INSPIRATION

“Narrative” weaves tales of harmony and inspiration through soft, smooth pastel tones dotted with bubbly, animated accents. These colours generate a sphere of support, stimulating both creativity and innovation through the surroundings. Regardless whether for an atelier full of fantasy or a snuggly bedroom – “Narrative” generates rooms which extend an invitation to dream, shape, form new things. This is where Gira products provide a stylish completion through their subtle colours and innovative designs, underscoring the creative ambience of the artistic palette.

PEPPER WHITE AND OPAL VIOLET

The colour palette dubbed “Playful” stands for a diversity firing on all cylinders with smooth adaptability. It combines a wide-ranging palette of colour tones which can be flexibly and playfully combined with one another, generating surroundings which are both inviting and inclusive. These hues amplify the feeling of well-being and identification with the surrounding world by catering to a plethora of moods and styles. Gira products fit like a glove into this artistic palette, since they reinforce the endless possibilities of flexibility and creative expressivity without overloading the room.

Gira products are available at Austria’s leading specialists for electrical wares and appliances. In 2025, Gira opened the Gira Experience Center in the “Helix” in Salzburg. To tide you over until your visit, there are also wide-ranging inspirations available here: www.gira.at

BIO HACKING

A CROSSROADS OF SCIENCE, SELF-EXPERIMENTATION, LIFESTYLE

GETTING OLDER IN GOOD HEALTH, DOING AN END RUN AROUND CREEPING DECLINE AND MENTAL DETERIORATION... BIOHACKING IS THE LIFESTYLE TREND WHICH LEADS THE WAY FROM THE UNIVERSAL HUMAN DREAM OF ETERNAL YOUTH TO A SCIENTIFICALLY FOUNDED SPHERE OF PRESENT-DAY REALITY. THERE IS NO DOUBT: A HARMONIOUS MIXTURE OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE, POWER SUBSTANCES DERIVED FROM NATURE AND AN ATTENTIVE TREATMENT OF ONE’S OWN PSYCHE CAN INDEED LENGTHEN LIFE, AMPLIFY GOOD HEALTH AND GENERATE MORE QUALITY IN BEING ALIVE. WHEN WILL YOUR OWN EXPERIMENT IN LIVING-LONGER-BETTER BEGIN? Text: Christian Bonk

BBiohacking, as it presents itself today, brings a roller coaster history with it. For example, in the 80s there was the phase known as do-it-yourself biology in the U.S., boasting legendary garage laboratories, an underground movement seeking to optimize one’s own self, postulating a startling democratization of biological research. Even back then, the all-important goal of its followers was to achieve mastery over your own genes, to manipulate and increase the longevity of your own DNA or at very least, to influence all this in positive ways. Critics reprimanded it for biological terrorism, warned against uncontrollable risks from shoddy knowledge based on experiments carried out by non-professionals.

In the 90s, LOHAS (Leadership of Health and Sustainability) followed in its footsteps. It was a movement custom-made for prosperous professional performers. Its goal was to live life to the fullest, to the absolute hilt, yet at the highest degree of health possible, but above all to enjoy life’s pleasures without unduly burdening the environment. Here, too, there were harsh

critics who admonished LOHAS for camouflaging what was essentially a luxurious lifestyle with a thin environmentally friendly mask... made of organic cotton, it goes without saying.

At the same time, the era of technological body measurements got underway. Fitness-trackers were the hot property of the hour, providing to their wearers well founded data ranging from pulse frequency with the quality of an ECG, documenting individual phases of nocturnal sleep, counting steps taken over 24-hour periods, and even calculating the calories of what was being consumed. For many people, these devices constituted the foundations of a new personal fitness training and a healthy regime of nutrition containing as few perilous foods as possible. Those were the days when carbohydrates, fats, cholesterol got their names written into the No-No black book of nutritive elements. Then at the start of the 2000s, rumours arose that the unbelievable masses of data which had been collected on the wristband sensors and digital chest bands made it possible for the manufacturers

BIOGENA – SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH MEETS

QUALITY OF LIFE

Biogena is an Austrian company which specializes in high-quality micro-nutritive preparations, developed on the basis of scientific research and produced in accordance with the principle of pure substances, in other words, without any artificial additives, colours or preservatives. In the highly transparent manufacturing headquarters near Salzburg, products result which view human health from the birds-eye perspective, seeing all aspects working together: crystal-clear, sustainable and individual.

Regardless whether that means pure magnesium citrate for supporting muscles and nerves, omega-3 for heart and brain, or vitamin D3 & K2 for increasing bone density and strengthening the immune system, Biogena supplies well-founded solutions for modern biohackers who wish to further their own health, based quite consciously on the best knowledge available to us. This brand stands for a new kind of health culture combining awareness, prevention and pleasure in being alive.

of these devices to predict the moment of death down to the precise week, more or less, for all those who wore these devices on a sustained basis... just in case they weren’t struck by lightning before then.

BIOHACKING – THE DREAM OF LIVING UNTIL YOU ARE 180

But let’s now turn to the current trend of biohacking, which in the interim has become a deadly serious and often pursued path on how to make life healthier, fuller, happier. There has hardly been anyone who left a greater imprint on the concept of biohacking than the former Silicon Valley nerd, Dave Asprey. His downright “Olympian goal” is to appear at a celebration party (presumably with his 100year-old grandchildren) on his – wait for it – 180th birthday. It seems more realistic to understand this as a serious attempt to optimize his daily lifestyle, as he has been doing since 2010, in order to slow down the aging process to the greatest extent possible. “Bulletproof coffee”, mitochondrial optimization, neurofeedback, light therapy, all these things belong in the repertoire of essentials on the hunt for ongoing youth and health for Dave Asprey. “I don’t simply want to grow old, I want to stay young while I am growing old,” is the mantra of one of the very early adherents of the present-day biohacking scene.

His legendary morning coffee, so-called bulletproof coffee, consists of highest quality coffee beans, butter from pasture-fed cows and MCT oil. It guarantees not merely his personal launch into the day but has become a worldwide top seller among supplements. Apart from the purely organic support he

supplies to his body by this means each and every day, the highly successful entrepreneur and podcaster also praises (and wagers his destiny on) medical technology and high-tech solutions. He is unshakably of the opinion that he can become old enough for the threats which currently plague all aging people such as cancer, dementia / loss of memory and life-threatening metabolic illnesses to be made treatable and curable. Apart from his diet of bulletproof coffee, he also swallows dozens of supplements daily, places his bets on cryotherapy, neurofeedback, meditation, respiratory exercises, as well as continuing with permanent check-ups of his fundamental bio-markers, accompanied by periodic fasting in order to promote quicker regeneration of his body cells.

HAVE YOU GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO ATTEMPT BIOHACKING?

It goes without saying that attempting biohacking does not mean imitating the daily biohacking schedule of Dave Asprey. Nevertheless, each and every one of us does have the possibility to try out certain finely-dosed measures based on knowledge which is already established and accepted in order to participate in biohacking benefits ourselves. Specially selected supplements and carefully chosen techniques to keep the psyche buoyant, sufficient amounts of quality sleep and reinforced mental composure and dispassionateness lead imperturbably to heightening individual quality of life. For beginners, that means starting out gently, i.e. integrating two or three biohacks per week into your normal mode of life, amplified by a balanced diet which includes high-quality supplements, is the recommended way to launch it.

The Brand Base Tunnel in the BIOGENA BRAND BASE 01, located in the heart of Salzburg’s historic old town
SHA Spain

Below is a starter-list of tried and tested biohacks for the quick-start of your own rejuvenation programme:

– Optimizing your sleep (blue-light filters plus taking magnesium)

– Interval fasting (16:8 method, raising the amount of healthy fats consumed)

– Physical workout (jogging, swimming, biking or other sports activity)

– Mental training (meditation, yoga sessions)

– Digital detox (periods without internet/telephone screens, ideally spent out in nature)

– Cold-warm effect (sessions in the sauna, cold showers)

– Reflections & Planning (consciously engaging in rounds of feedback, communication, planning with a focus on measures to improve health)

For all those who have the appetite to try it out, even a very few sessions a week are sufficient. It frequently turns out for many biohackers that these miniature efforts quickly become routines, hard-and-fast components of daily life. In order to sift them out and come up with the right composition of such measures for you, it is important to keep track of what brings the most positive effects. What made you feel better, really better? That is the way to gradually build up and continue your own feel-good routines.

WHICH SUPPLEMENTS REALLY HELP?

Generally speaking, non-medical, freely available supplements live under a dark cloud, they are suspected of having no basis in proven science. Nonetheless, there are numerous active ingredients in nature which are indisputably a positive addition to human health, whether for cell structure, blood values, digestion or the overall organism. These supplements can provide significant contributions to biohackers, reinforcing the very things they are attempting to accomplish in their own health and well-being. It goes without saying that any and all of these things need to be tried out in moderation, never in expectation of a silver bullet as a cure-all. Regardless whether that is magnesium to achieve improved sleep, vitamin D3 and K2 for fortifying your immune system, omega-3 fat as an inhibitor of inflammation, L-Thenine for reducing stress or zinc preparations to generate a better hormonal balance, the effect of these supplements is scientifically proven, particularly when they are purchased from proven qualitative suppliers.

To sum it up: a small amount of biohacking cannot damage or do any harm to the design of your life. Healthy food, exercise in the fresh air, attentive treatment of your own psyche and a skillful, all-round mixture of supplements and natural preparations are not a guarantee for reaching a biblical age, but can provide indispensable building blocks towards greater satisfaction, composure and a more fulfilled life.

Longevity means understanding what it means to grow old. Nevertheless, through consciously adopted lifestyle measures we can achieve a healthier and visibly decelerated process of aging,” explains Dr. Jan Stritzke, Medical Director of Lanserhof Sylt. A fundamental and integral factor in the longevity approach is Biohacking – the conscious optimizing of the body through precisely-targeted, scientifically grounded interventions. At Lanserhof, traditional methods merge with high-tech innovations, ranging from personalized blood analysis, micronutritive optimizing improvements and mitochondrial screening continuing to sleep-tracking and cryo-light all the way to neuro-feedback therapies. The goal is to improve physical, bodily functions measurably and to accelerate processes of regeneration. In such ways, a precise, data-based approach is generated which will reinforce the individual’s energy household, reduce inflammations and optimize performance abilities on all levels, leading to increased vitality in everyday life.

NUTRITION, EXERCISE/TRAINING AND MENTAL BALANCE

At the centre of gravity stands nutrition: organic, seasonal and locally obtained ingredients, then combined with phases of fasting to amplify and reinforce cell regeneration and a healthy gut microbiome, both of which are indispensable factors for living-longerbetter. “Exercise & training is the fundamental prerequisite for prevention. Muscle mass is the key to a longer, healthier life,” elaborates Dr. Stritzke. For that reason, each and every cure is complemented by individually customized programmes of training, yoga and attentiveness sessions.

Apart from physical, bodily health, mental strength also plays a decisive role in the overall composition. Meditation, breathing techniques and personal experiences out in nature all help to reinforce emotional resilience and inner balance. In such ways, a harmonious interaction of body, mind and soul is generated and takes on new form. That constitutes the basis of sustainable health.

LANSERHOF – THE PLACE FOR A NEW QUALITY OF LIVING

The Lanserhof is more than merely a clinic – it is a place of renewal and rejuvenation. This is where living-longer-better becomes palpable, feelable, with well-being as its topmost priority and sustainable good health as its philosophy of life. “We assist our guests to unfold their entire potential as well as to re-discover renewed pleasure in a healthy, fulfilled life,” elucidates Dr. Stritzke. Whoever comes to Lanserhof, experiences first-hand not only healing, but more: transformation – for a life lived in balance, in vitality and in happiness.

HOME TO PEOPLE WITH DRIVE

IN THE YEAR 2016, THREE VISIONARY ENTREPRENEURS – ANDREAS DÜNKEL, OWNER OF MOTORWORLD, DR. CHRISTOPH WALTHER, POLITICAL PARLIAMENTARY GROUP PRESIDENT & ENTREPRENEUR, AND XANDER HEIJNEN, SELF-CONFESSED “PETROL HEAD” – HAD A REVOLUTIONARY IDEA: TO ESTABLISH A CLUB EXCLUSIVELY FOR PRIVATE MEMBERS WHO WERE DEDICATED TO THE THEMES OF AUTOMOBILES, RACING SPORTS BUSINESS AND LUXURIOUS LIFESTYLES. THEY TRANSFORMED THEIR VISION TO REALITY IN 2019 WHEN THE DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY OFFICIALLY OPENED ITS GATES.

IT SUPPLIES A LIVELY AND ANIMATED MEETING PLACE FOR SPIRITED CONVERSATIONS AMONG LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE.

Brandroom Aston Martin
Billiard Room Fine Dining at DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY

IN ORDER TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS EXTRAORDINARY CLUB, WE MET WITH MANAGING DIRECTOR JASPER WALTHER AND SANDRA

ZANETTI, MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD.

Streifzug: Sandra, what exactly is meant by the term “club exclusively for private members”?

Sandra Zanetti: What we mean by the term is a place of trust and familiarity, of personal exchange and communication, and of farreaching favourable feelings of members for one another. And underpinning all this, our special concept of service. We would like to provide our current and future members with a space which they can truly feel all-round good in. The fundamental principle behind a club as a kind of refuge is something which has longstanding tradition in the Anglo-Saxon world. Coalescing with our own club are the connections and access we have to more than 250 private member clubs all over the world which our own members can take advantage of whenever they wish.

Streifzug: Jasper, how can we best visualize the DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY, what image does it cast?

Jasper Walther: The club is housed in a large industrial building, which is historically listed and protected, over an area of 3900 m2. It was built in Bauhaus style in 1925. Our members are highly influential personalities hailing from the worlds of sport, business, society who all share a passion for automobiles. The club building provides not only fine dining and rooms for a variety of events, but also a cigar lounge with humidor, a library, a wine cellar, its own cinema and offices dealing with infrastructure. It supplies a lively and animated meeting place for spirited conversations among like-minded people who are on the same frequency and opens other doors to them all over the world.

Streifzug: Sandra, what do you have to do to become a member?

Sandra Zanetti: The club has blossomed through its unique culture of recommendation. Whoever is recommended by at least two members and whose admission is approved by the board receives an invitation to join. You might claim that we have set up a rather strict gateway, but precisely that is important to us, since members have to blend and harmonize, despite all individual dissimilarities.

Streifzug: Jasper, what are the future plans of the club?

Jasper Walther: We are making unflagging efforts to expand our offerings and to continually deliver pleasant surprises to our members. Our goal is to keep the club dynamic, always developing new facets and evolving further. We have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline which will be honed and then turned to reality during the next few years.

IN

LAST SUMMER, WITHIN THE SLEEK CONFINES OF THE DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY IN MUNICH, PARIS BROSNAN UNVEILED IN MOTION – HIS FIRST MAJOR EUROPEAN EXHIBITION AND THE FORMAL LAUNCH OF A LONG-TERM COLLABORATION BETWEEN PANTHEON ART AND MARCUS SCHAEFER, ART ADVISOR AND CURATOR, FRAMED BY A CITY THAT BALANCES ENGINEERING PRECISION WITH CULTURAL SOPHISTICATION, THE SHOW MARKED THE INTERSECTION OF INSTINCT, STRUCTURE AND VELOCITY – A STUDY IN RHYTHM TRANSLATED TO CANVAS.

MOTION

AAt just twenty-four, Paris Brosnan has already developed a visual language grounded in cadence. His paintings emerge through process rather than plan – fields of vivid colour and spontaneous lines where intuition becomes form. “I let the colours, the movement, and the rhythm of the moment dictate where the work goes,” he explains. The result is an aesthetic that straddles abstraction and figuration, echoing both the improvisational pulse of music and the gestural expressiveness of post-war painting.

INSTINCTIVE. UNFILTERED. CONTEMPORARY.

The In Motion series extends this dialogue between sound and sight. Within the layered compositions, silhouettes surface and dissolve; pigment behaves like percussion. There is an elasticity to his mark-making that recalls De Kooning’s tension or the calligraphic motion of Cy Twombly, but without imitation. Brosnan’s works carry the texture of youth and movement.

Curated in partnership between Pantheon Art and Marcus Schaefer, the Munich presentation was more than a debut – it was a deliberate act of cultural positioning. Pantheon, the London- and Los Angeles-based studio known for bridging art and entertainment worlds, approached the exhibition as both aesthetic and infrastructural statement: a signal that Brosnan’s practice is to be encountered seriously, not as an extension of celebrity, but as an evolution of craft.

“Munich was chosen for its balance of history and innovation,” notes Schaefer. “There’s a collector base here that understands motion – the relationship between discipline and expression.” It was a fitting backdrop. The DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY, typically a space of luxury machines and industrial design, offered a conceptual mirror to Brosnan’s paintings. Each canvas vibrated within the architecture, an echo of engines translated into pigment.

UNEXPECTED HIGHLIGHT

That dialogue between art and engineering reached a literal crescendo when BMW Classic – long a patron of design heritage – staged an unannounced intervention: three original James Bond cars were rolled into the courtyard midway through the evening. The gesture, though unexpected, deepened the night’s theme. Precision met instinct; velocity met stillness. Guests drifted between vehicles and canvases, the boundaries between spectacle and reflection blurring.

For Brosnan, In Motion reflected an inward response to the velocity of contemporary life – “a way of processing the noise,” he noted, “of finding a kind of meditative tempo in the act of making.”

A WAY OF PROCESSING THE NOISE

That search for tempo connects Brosnan’s work to a wider generational current within contemporary painting. In an age defined by overstimulation, young artists are reclaiming gesture as a form of resistance – a return to the body, to intuition, to the mark as evidence of presence. Brosnan’s contribution is particularly interesting in this context: his fluency across visual and cultural languages allows him to bridge scenes and audiences rarely aligned.

COME TO STAY

If In Motion – Munich suggested arrival, it also proposed continuity. The works themselves resist completion; they hover between expression and reflection, between gesture and erasure. Their rhythm lies not in their colour alone, but in the space they occupy – a visual tempo that recalls the pulse of a city in motion.

At the DRIVERS & BUSINESS CLUB GERMANY, as the night drew to a close and guests moved between the Bond cars and the final canvases, there was a collective awareness of having witnessed a shift –not simply a debut, but a reframing. Paris Brosnan’s rhythm had entered the room, and from that point on, it refused to leave.

WEMAKE DREAMS VISIBLE

WHERE

NESTLED IN THE MAJESTIC SETTING OF THE MOST WONDROUS ALPS, THE ARLBERG OFFERS UNFORGETTABLE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES ALL YEAR ROUND. REGARDLESS WHETHER IT’S DESCENDING ON SKIS OVER SNOWY SLOPES IN ST. ANTON, MEANDERING ON SUNNY SUMMER HIKES OVER PRIMEVAL ALPINE PASTURES, STOPPING AT HUTS, OR TAKING A TIME-OUT IN A TRULY COSY CHALET ON THE BORDERLINE OF TIROL AND VORARLBERG, THE ARLBERG BRINGS TOGETHER ALL THE ALPINE TRADITIONS, COUPLES THEM WITH LUXURIOUS ELEGANCE AND A MAGNIFICENT BACKDROP IN TRULY UNIQUE WAYS IN SUMMER AND IN WINTER. WHOEVER WISHES TO FLEE EVERYDAY LIFE, ITS STRESS AND BURDENS, TO BREATHE IN FRESH MOUNTAIN AIR, IMBIBE A SUPERLATIVE MOUNTAIN PANORAMA AND AT THE SAME TIME ENJOY HEARTWARMING HOSPITALITY, ON THE ARLBERG THAT PERSON IS SPOT-ON. Text: Stephanie Geiger

The snow sparkles in the moonlight, and the silence of the mountains feels like a gentle winter dream: Lech am Arlberg is a village that touches the soul.

articularly in wintertime, the Arlberg has made a name for itself. It is considered not only the cradle of alpine skiing, today it is the guardian of the largest interconnected ski region in Austria.

WITH A HELICOPTER, SAVOUR THE ULTIMATE IN POWDER SNOW

The ski runs of St. Anton, which traditionally launches the winter season in the first week of December, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech, alongside Warth and Schröcken, are sure to fulfil every wish of skiers for skiing joys on pistes of unbeatable quality. Apart from 300 kilometres of meticulously groomed ski descents there are also more than 200 kilometres of deep-snow descents and off-piste variations for freeriders on the Arlberg. Lovers of this sport also savour a very special delicacy on the Arlberg: heli-skiing and heli-boarding, a highly unusual offering which, in Austria, is only possible in Lech-Zürs. Another gigantic advantage of the region: assuredness of snow. The ski runs on the Arlberg all lie above 1,250 metres altitude.

Whoever is aspiring enough to want to complete the Run of Fame in the course of one day has to be quick about it. At a length of 85 kilometres and with 18,000 metres of altitude to master, it is considered the longest interconnected ski round of the Alps. Particularly ambitious skiers should mark the 17th January 2026 in bright red on their calendars. That is the day of the White Ring. The race in Lech-Zürs, in which thousands of high-flying wintersports participants take part, occupies the status of an international cult. And doubtless inspiring equally much cultish excitement is the so-called Weisse Rausch (“White Madness”), the legendary ski race at season’s end in St. Anton. It will take place on 18th April 2026.

But even far apart from the ski runs, the Arlberg has loads to offer: whiskey tastings at the Schlegelkopf Restaurant, promising fondue and à-la-carte evenings at the Rüfikopf, where ski manufacturer Kästle presents its history in the Mountain Museum, or else exclusive cruises with Moët & Chandon Champagne-Gondola of the Zug mountain railway.

TRADITION AND HEARTWARMING HOSPITALITY

The history of the Arlberg is compellingly brought to life at the Museum in St. Anton, where you can discover lots about the skiing greats and the skiing sport itself, and also about the construction of the famous Arlbergbahn. At the Lech Museum you gain insights into the life of people in earlier times. The Huber-Hus, in which the museum is housed, was built in 1590. Today, the museum awakens the enthusiasm of visitors with regularly changing special exhibitions, such as the current presentation about photography on the Arlberg.

And because the region has been a destination for travellers since time immemorial – even in primordial times, one of the most important eastwest connections led over the nearly 1800-metre-high Arlberg Pass –hospitality is something writ large. As far back as 1570, Hotel Schwarzer Adler in St. Anton was an icon for far-reaching hospitality. Nowadays,

AND BECAUSE THE REGION HAS BEEN A DESTINATION FOR TRAVELLERS SINCE TIME IMMEMORIAL, HOSPITALITY IS SOMETHING WRIT LARGE.

Whether in the depths of winter with heavy snowfall and snowstorms, or in springtime with sun-soaked skiing and Aperol on a sunny terrace – the Arlberg, with its charming villages, mountain huts, ski slopes, and breathtaking alpine scenery, is always an unforgettable highlight.

Where less is more – or even everything… DER WOLF in Lech is a mountain lodge that blends traditional values with international influences, impressing with its striking, minimalist architecture.

the Tschol family which runs the hotel is in its fifth generation. In Lech at Hotel Post, the Moosbrugger family regularly plays host to the royal family of the Netherlands. Whoever wants to spend a top-notch vacation, whether with family or a group of friends, is right-on-target in Chalet 1551 or Chalet Mimi, in Lech: two luxurious private chalets with butler service and a private chef.

ARLBERG, DESTINATION OF CONNOISSEURS

The gourmet restaurant Griggeler Stuba in Lech has been distinguished by two Michelin stars, and equally so, the Chef’s Table in the exclusive Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel in Zug and the gourmet restaurant in Hotel Tannenhof in St. Anton. Breaking all bounds of excellence is also the Alpin Gourmet Stube in Hotel Gletscherblick in St. Anton (1 Michelin star). At Hotel Mondschein in Stuben, the young cooking star Joshua

Leise wins acclaim with his creations, he is already a well-known celebrity from the “Mural” in Munich with his Chef’s Table. At the restaurant Marile in Berghof Lech, the cuisine can best be described with appellations such as tradition, back to the roots, deep values and new times.

The brand-new place-to-be in Lech: the Arlberg Club House. Inside this former travel office, illustrious Austrian interior architect Bernd Gruber and Kitzmüller Architektur have achieved a design masterpiece incorporating a galaxy of profoundly conceived, saturated earth tones accompanied by high-quality natural materials.

The Arlberg is not merely a place for vacations, rather, it is a place which you discover, conquer, and take home with you in your head and your heart, back to everyday life. That is the way true desires arise and perhaps permits you a vacation in this direction next summer, or next winter.

SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF GLASS

ESTABLISHED IN THE YEAR 2017, THE HELLE MARDAHL STUDIO UNFOLDS ITS ACTIVITIES AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND FUNCTIONALITY IN ORDER TO GENERATE A SENSUOUS DREAMCOME-TRUE UNIVERSE CONSISTING OF BRIGHTLY COLOURED, HANDBLOWN GLASS DESIGNS WITH A PLAYFULLY EXCENTRIC TOUCH.

THE NEW SIGNATURE COLOURS – INCLUDING MINT, ROSE, HONEY AND PEAR – AWAKEN FRESH VIEWS IN NEW COMBINATIONS.

IThe “Signature Glass With A Twist” is Helle's unique take on the ideal drinking vessel, crafted to evoke a sense of wonder with every sip. In different colours available.

Inspired by nostalgic remembrances of childhood and iconically surreal movies such as Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, fancifully extravagant glass collections are produced which generate a conceptual universe of sweets. The repertoire encompasses chocolate boxes, drinking vessels, coffee and teacups, cocktail glasses, bowls/cups, water decanters and even lighting fixtures for tables, walls or swinging from the ceiling plus handles for cabinets and drawers.

HELLE MARDAHL ...

... is a graduate in fashion design from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Today her oeuvre includes sculptures, installations, paintings, fashions, as well as interior designing. Her works distinguish themselves through their opulence and extravagance, coupled with a dash of histrionic theatre. As a designer, Helle Mardahl concentrates on the beauties inherent in contraries, polar opposites and takes precious little notice of current conventions and practices of the designer industry. Perhaps that is the reason why her magnificently colourful drafts – actually, her dreams turned to handblown glass – are quite so vibrant, so natural, yet simultaneously both fragile and robust; intrinsically simple, and at the same time artistically original in their effects.

Crafted through mouth-blowing techniques, the Pedestal is an artful creation featuring a sturdy stem and a glossy plateau expressly designed for display.

pursued a further step: each glass object resembles a particular dessert which itself embodies a particular taste, such as cherries, plums or chewing gum. Especially iconic are the Bon Bon Signature Pieces – artistic chocolate boxes and objects which reflect Helle’s excentric style. The collection is rounded out by Lighting Objects, in which lamps in rooms styled in chocolate-box colours are immersed in magical light. Added to that is a brashly beautiful collection of highly varied objects which fulfil the most wildly varied needs of everyday life. Each and every piece is finished in accordance with age-old traditional techniques.

MADE-TO-MEASURE PROJECTS

What this all boils down to is that Helle Mardahl actually constructs her own sweet universe that provides the framework for everything she creates thereafter. “Through the extravagant application of colours and noble materials, as well as a genuine love for the whimsical, bizarre, oddball and unexpected, come to life in her interior consultation, made-to-measure art installations, furniture or lighting fixtures,” the studio promises. What matters is that fantasy recognizes no boundaries, no limits, no fixed territories, when it comes to living life as a colourful shop of sweets, to making everyday tasks more beautiful and more entertaining – whether that means poetic, playful or posh, or all of them at once.

THE COLLECTIONS OF HELLE MARDAHL ...

... draw contrasting galaxies together: art, functionality and a frisky, coltish manner bouncing with fantasy, inspired by the world of sweets. The brilliant centrepiece are radiant and hand-finished glass objects bursting with powerful pastel colours, often combined in startling, unexpected ways. The New Signature Colours – including mint, rose, honey and pear – awaken fresh views in new combinations. They have been curated personally by Helle Mardahl in order to give birth to aesthetic, almost culinary worlds of luscious experience.

The Tableware Collection is an homage to a British institution: afternoon tea. It connects organic shapes and undulating forms with brightly colourful glass designs. Its avowed intention is to immortalize, perhaps even eternalize, little moments of everyday life and bestow upon them a playful, sportive note. In the group known as “All the Candy” this concept is

With clear-cut lines and undying respect for what transpired yesterday, happens today and what will come tomorrow, Anita and Johann Auinger span a huge divide and succeed in drawing an arc of sustainable timelessness. Their achievements are anchored in a one-man operation founded in the year 1933 by Alois Auinger who had a farm alongside his own ropemaking business in Laufenbach. Over the course of several decades, his ideas grew, his concepts evolved until out of a rope factory a floor specialty shop was generated – at the time, in the 1970s, focusing on textiles. The company flourished, floating-screed flooring was added to their offerings, and by the 1980s it boasted five employees. When the son of the family, Hans Auinger, returned home after several years abroad, he joined the family operation and brought his own visions of architecture and commercial construction objects into the picture.

The daringly expanded segment of offerings – the actual design of rooms to live in – succeeded on the foundations of the excellent groundwork which

had preceded it in the truest sense of the word, for highly satisfied clients wanted still more of the Auinger family’s profound comprehension of highquality design. “We would also like a sofa in the self-same quality as the floor which was laid down,” ran the wish of many clients. And thus, piece by piece was added over the course of the next few decades, all in solid harmony with what had already been achieved. Hans then found Anita, the love of his life, and since the 1990s they have run the company together.

TURNING DREAMS TO REALITY

Inspired by endless visits to international trade fairs and by a sophisticated reach upwards towards materials, origins, quality, Anita and Hans Auinger developed their very own language of forms and shapes. This unmistakable signature is reflected in every single project they approach for their clients. And this unparalleled, precise sense recently became visible for all design lovers in Austria at a brandnew showroom in Laufenbach, the Centre for High Quality Living in Austria. “We made the exhibition spaces just like we ourselves would want to live in,” explains Anita Auinger. Over the years, Hans Auinger

drafted plans for the old building which in earlier days had served as their carpet warehouse. At the same time, he engaged in an ongoing dialogue with a friend of his who was a landscape architect. And as if it had been foreseen, step by step out of an overall visual concept an actual premium building built on a future was generated, which forces evolution and further development so that the company can continually define itself anew as the times change.

HISTORY LIVED AND FELT

The past is also rolled into this composition, just like the present and the future. In striking ways and analogous to the long company history, beautiful floors of natural wood, tablet parquet flooring, fishbone floorboarding and carpets are presented. Attentive visitors might also take note of the ropes used as terrace banisters and are even employed decoratively and practically in the form of room dividers. Rooms are furnished and outfitted down to the most minute detail, lovingly and with top-end furniture. “It was also important for us to create a building which didn’t devalue the old timber-framed buildings all around it, but instead, amplified their value,” elucidates Anita Auinger. With modern architecture and arrow-straight lines, the Auingers once again accomplished a contrast which brought about a new kind of equilibrium and were in turn awarded the Heimtex Star Award as a crowning distinction.

CRAFTSMANSHIP THAT AWAKENS EMOTIONS

As to just how inspiring the ongoing transformation really is, it becomes evident not only through the success of the company, but also in the motivation of its employees. For example, Sophie Buchbauer just completed her professional training as a room outfitter with high honours and subsequently decided to learn to lay flooring as an additional specialty. The enthusiasm of son Johannes Auinger is also a cause for joy at the company: in 2019 he was the youngest master floorer in Austria and today is one of the major pillars of the enterprise. As can be easily seen, the well-conceived, well-laid floors of the Auinger family continue to lead to higher and higher values – envisioning them, grasping for them, reaching them – as well as the human values which support that, accompanied by far-sighted knowledge and a glance at the trends around the corners of the future.

At the Auingers‘, life and celebrations are enjoyed – together with customers, friends, and family.
