St Peters Lutheran College Springfield is a leading coeducational, Kindergarten to 12 day school serving the greater Springfield region. We exist for families seeking an education and community that prepares students for a life of purpose. This means that our students are known by their names and stories; experiences are intentionally designed to shape our students’ futures; and education is more than academics alone. This is realised through excellence in teaching and learning; exceptional pastoral care; broad lifewide learning programs, purposeful experiential learning opportunities and intentional formation and service experiences; innovative approaches to teaching, learning and operations; an internationally-minded education; all in an environment where we celebrate the Gospel by sharing God’s love.
2025 marked the conclusion of our Strategic Intent Plus Ultra 2025 which provided both a clear direction and laid a firm foundation. Our new Strategic Intent Plus Ultra 2030 seeks to take the best of what has been achieved, and build on the momentum of the last five years. As we look to the future, Plus Ultra 2030 continues with the existing Strategic Pillars that either Deliver or Support the Mission of the College. Each Strategic Pillar consists of a small number of high level Strategic Initiatives that lay out our priorities for the next five years and directs our focus, energy and
resources in a concerted and disciplined effort to realise our timeless Mission with purpose, intention and meaning. In a world where the pace of change has never been so fast, yet will never be this slow again, Plus Ultra 2030 helps us to remain true our Mission whilst providing clarity as we chart our path forward.
At the core of Plus Ultra 2030 are our students and their learning, care, formation and growth. Our Strategic Intent provides direction and clarity in the vocation of the College to offer an education that develops fine young St Peters people - young people of character who are kind, caring, grateful and respectful. Our Plus Ultra Mindset
These two words Plus Ultra form our motto and are Latin for ‘Ever Higher’. At St Peters Springfield, Plus Ultra is more than a motto; it is a mindset. Our Plus Ultra mindset profoundly alters the trajectory of each student.
Brian Bahnisch a member of the Senior Class of 1959 at St Peters at Indooroopilly expressed it well in an essay, titled ‘Plus Ultra’ he wrote for The Review. In the essay Brian writes ‘If we aim for mediocrity, we can never hope to rise above it. We should aim for the best of which we know we are capable – and then raise our sights a little’.
Our St Peters Springfield Plus Ultra mindset serves as a motivational call to action, to be constantly learning and to embrace challenges with a courageous, curious, and optimistic mindset. Plus Ultra is a mindset that that goes beyond traditional academic boundaries, encouraging students to not only excel in their studies, but also to explore diverse interests, to seek knowledge, leadership, and growth opportunities. The St Peters Springfield Plus Ultra mindset encourages us to embrace challenge, develop resilience, transcend perceived limitations, and reach for extraordinary heights in our endeavours.
A 2026 Senior sums up the benefits of our Plus Ultra mindset well – ‘I never imagined I could achieve so highly, yet the College has made it possible for me to do my best in everything. This demonstrates the impact that Plus Ultra has had on me. The College has encouraged me to go higher, to continue achieving my best, and even do things I never thought possible’.
