St. Peter Catholic Career & Technical High School proudly introduces our Guardian mascot, inspired by the noble tradition of the Papal Swiss Guard, legendary protectors of the Pope since 1506. Rooted in our patron, St. Peter the Apostle, the first Pope, the Guardian embodies courage, loyalty, service, and faith
Principal Dr Marc Martinez adds “Our new Guardian mascot is more than a symbol for St. Peter Catholic; it is a visible reminder of who we are and who we are called to be. The Guardian reflects our commitment to forming students who are courageous in their faith and prepared with real skills for their future.”
The Guardian bears a banner with the Crossed Keys of St Peter, drawn from Scripture (Matthew 16:19) and our school seal These Keys symbolize our mission to open doors for students: doors to faith, hope, discipleship, and to academic, career, and technical excellence They also reflect leadership rooted in service, calling students to be guardians of their faith, gifts, and future pathways.
Clad in a stylized Swiss Guard uniform with a ceremonial Morion helmet, the Guardian’s black, white, and gold colors represent strength and sacrifice, faith and truth, and excellence and divine mission A gear icon atop the banner signifies our identity as a Career & Technical High School, symbolizing learning by doing, workforce readiness, collaboration, and the dignity of work. Together, the Guardian reflects our mission to empower and form students who are courageous in both being ready to develop their skills and living their faith

In this variation of The Guardian the banner has the Cross that is on the elevator tower of our school building. Added during renovations, as a gift from The Scanlan Foundation, and designed by Jackson & Ryan Architects, the elevator tower has become a focal point of our school. The Cross on the elevator tower is illuminated at night and has markings that represent the five wounds of Christ.

AN EXPLANATION OF THE ORIGINS AND SYMBOLISM OF OUR GUARDIAN MASCOT
In this variation of The Guardian - the banner has been replaced by the Halberd - the traditional polearm weapon of the Papal Swiss Guard used today mainly for ceremonial purposes. The halberd is a symbol of the Swiss Guard's long-standing history of protecting the Pope.
This banner has been put up in our school hallway to explain the symbolism of our new Guardian
mascot.
