Awhi Mai, Awhi Atu – Collegian Ambassador Scholar
Each year, three St Paul’s Collegiate School Year 13 students are awarded the Awhi Mai, Awhi Atu – Collegian Ambassador Scholarship of $5,000 to support them during the first year beyond St Paul’s gates.
This Scholarship recognises students who have contributed to school life and who are committed to remaining connected as Collegians. In the spirit of awhi mai, awhi atu (support received, support given), recipients are encouraged to give back by being engaged Collegians and helping their peer group to stay connected.
Purpose of the scholarship
● To support students in their first year after school
● To encourage lasting engagement with the Collegians Inc. community
● To foster connection among school leavers from their year group
Who can apply
Applicants may be heading into tertiary study, trades/apprenticeships or other training pathways. Applicants will be Year 13 students who:
● Have engaged meaningfully with their peers and demonstrated friendships and/or initiative to engage
● Can show financial need or a clear plan to use the scholarship for a pathway
● Are interested in staying connected to St Paul’s and supporting Collegian activities
What’s expected of the recipients
● Attend one Collegians Inc. committee meeting in their first year (in person or online)
● Stay in touch and share a brief update on their progress
● Support future reunions and help keep their year group connected
How to apply and timings
Applications open in Term 3 and close on 31 August. Recipients will be notified in September and awards announced at an end-of-year assembly
Applicants submit a one-page letter of application (see the example on the following page) that answers the questions below.
1. What are your plans for the first year after school, e.g. specific course or training?
2. How have you contributed to or engaged with your year group while at school?
3. What initiatives or service opportunities have you been involved with?
4. What is a specific way you would help maintain a connection with your year group after school?
5. How would you utilise the scholarship (e.g. fees, accommodation, work costs)? Include budgeting plans.
Once the letter is ready to submit, applicants complete the form and upload it here. A short CV may be included, but it is not required. Given the many applications to read through, the committee requires only a one-page letter
