Welcome to the 58th Annual Green & Gold Gala honoring Brother David Galinski, FSC, as we celebrate his extraordinary 65 years of service to the Christian Brothers and his example of what it means to be Lasallian. Brother David’s life of dedication, humility, and humble commitment to our young men has shaped generations of Shamrocks and strengthened the very heart of Saint Patrick High School.

It is always an honor to gather with so many devoted alumni, parents, and friends as we celebrate the mission and future of Saint Patrick High School. To our alumni - thank you for showing up for our boys, for remaining engaged, and for continuing to believe in the Saint Patrick mission. Your presence tonight is a powerful testament to the lifelong brotherhood that defines this school.

Tonight is about more than celebration; it is about impact. Because of your generosity, we have allocated over $2 million in tuition assistance, invested more than $4 million in building renovations, committed over $2 million to new programming initiatives, and expanded our Career & Technical Education outreach to ensure that every student is guided toward his unique path to success. Most importantly, our enrollment continues to grow - a sign that our school is alive and thriving.

To the greater Saint Patrick High School community, thank you for believing in our young men and supporting them as they carry the legacy of the Shamrocks into the Chicagoland area. Your confidence in them ensures that our great school remains strong, vibrant, and impactful for generations to come.

On behalf of our faculty, staff, and students, thank you for standing with us and investing in their future. Let’s have a wonderful evening, and as always, thank you for your generosity and your belief in Saint Patrick High School.

SAINT PATRICK LEGACY AWARD

David “Buddy” Galinski grew up on the Southwest Side of Chicago at Blessed Sacrament Parish - a predominantly Irish parish where he fit in just fine. He went on to attend St. Mel High School, where he first met the Christian Brothers. When they learned that he wanted to become a teacher, they invited him to consider joining them, and the rest is history.

Sixty-five years later, he has never regretted that decision. Brother David made his Novitiate in Glencoe, Missouri, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Christian Brothers University in Memphis. The Brothers later encouraged him to pursue master’s degrees in Religious Education and Counseling, opportunities he used faithfully and well. Throughout his life and vocation, God has been good to him.

In the spring of 1971, Brother Terence, then principal of Saint Patrick High School, invited Brother David to consider joining the St. Pat’s community. After thoughtful consideration, he accepted, not knowing what the future would hold. Fifty-five years later, his journey at Saint Patrick High School has been one filled with blessings, challenges, growth, and deep joy.

Over the decades, Brother David has faithfully served as a Religion teacher, Director of Recruitment, Religion Department Chair, Assistant Principal, Student Services Department Chair, and Director of the Brothers’ Community. Each role has kept him busy and fulfilled. He has been blessed to work alongside exceptional principals, presidents, and colleagues, learning much from them and generously sharing his wisdom with younger faculty members along the way.

Many people have influenced Brother David’s life at Saint Patrick High School - too many to name - but one stands out in a special way: Brother Konrad Diebold. The two lived together for more than 25 years. Brother Konrad served as a true mentor, continually encouraging him to expand his horizons and embrace opportunities he might not otherwise have pursued.

Being a Christian Brother has brought Brother David immense joy, and he hopes that joy has been shared with the entire Shamrock Family. As our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, wrote, “To touch the hearts of your students is the greatest miracle you can perform.”

Brother David’s life and ministry stand as a testament to a vocation spent striving to do just that.

He is eternally grateful to all who have chosen to celebrate this evening in honor of his remarkable journey.`
