The large new wildflower meadow is buzzing and humming with life. The meadow is home to Hedi a cheeky little bumblebee with large, round, red glasses.
It was planted especially for Hedi and her friends by people who really care about bees and bumblebees.
Hedi zooms off. Today she wants to find the most beautiful flower in the whole meadow!
Meanwhile, Sina sets off too. From her beehive on the roof of the ARCOTEL hotel, she flies cheerfully towards the new meadow, where so many beautiful flowers are in bloom.
But just a few wingbeats later, “Ouch! Watch where you’re going!” Hedi scolds.
“What?
You’re the one who flew into me!” Sina responds.
“I’m
Hedi, a bumblebee, and this meadow is my territory!”
“And this is my flower!” she cries, stamping her tiny feet. The flower sparkles in the sunshine. A deep blue cornflower simply perfect!
“Your flower? No way! First buzz, first served! I’m Sina the honeybee, and I was here first!” cries Sina excitedly.
The argument grows louder. The buzzing grows wilder. The two bees zoom round and round each other.
“I
want that nectar!”
“So
do I!”
Suddenly, a large shadow falls over them. A bird! Big and fast, swooping straight towards them!
Sina spots it first. “Fly away! Quick!” she shouts. But Hedi stands frozen to the spot. Her wings tremble she is stiff with fright.
Sina grabs Hedi by the wing. “Come on! In here into the bellflower!”
Together they tumble into a large flower cup. Outside, the bird flutters past. “Phew, that was close,” whispers Sina, gasping for air.
Hedi takes a deep breath. Her heart is pounding loudly thump, thump, thump! “You saved me,” Hedi stammers softly. “I I was so scared I couldn’t move.”
“You can have the blue cornflower,” Hedi murmurs, embarrassed.
But Sina shakes her head and takes Hedi’s hand.
“Let’s share it!” “Share it?” Hedi asks in surprise.
“Of course! Nectar tastes twice as good when you enjoy it together.”
Hedi beams. “Yes! A team you and me!”
They fly along, hand-in-hand: buzz-buzz-me-and-you.
“Starting tomorrow, we’re going to rock this meadow together!” cheers Hedi. “Yay bumblebee power and busy bee teamwork!” calls Sina.
“What a day!” And together they sip the nectar and laugh about their big bird adventure.
