EVOLVING WITH PURPOSE

FY25 IMPACT REPORT

Through open dialogue, critical inquiry, and creative expression, we nurture a community of spirited exploration that enriches UNCChapel Hill and beyond.

MEET THE TEAM

Kara Endsley*

Our focus this year was to reimagine our space and its role in the future of academic and community engagement. We assembled a powerful coalition of voices to build community, and modeled what it meant to meaningfully engage through strategic outreach, innovative research and visionary programs. What's more, we stressed the need to sustainably yet courageously evolve as a way to honor our legacy and build our future.

Water Stations

We replaced dated fountains with filling stations on all three levels of the building, conserving approximately 8,300 gallons by summer 2025.

Mural Installation

Commissioned by Dr. Rhon to mark our building's 20th anniversary, the mural created by Cummings Visiting Artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield honors Dr. Stone's enduring legacy.

Lactation Room Podcast Media Space

The Lactation Room provides a private, comfortable, and accessible space for nursing parents, embodying the Center's commitment to community wellness.

The Wright Podcast Room is a cutting-edge space for story telling. Home to the "Stone Written" podcast, the studio advances our mission of cultural and academic engagement.

Student Harbor

The Student Harbor is a space for rest, connection, and collaborative learning A Chancellor-sponsored upfit, it previewed during finals week, and will officially open to students in Fall 2025.

We reimagined space as a living canvas where connections ourish, culture inspires, and knowledge empowers.

Amplied our Mission

In 2024 2025 FY we had four priorities: to REIMAGINE space to reect the broad communities we serve; to ASSEMBLE key partnerships and foster meaningful connections; to ENGAGE donors and allies who champion our shared vision of academic and cultural excellence; and to EVOLVE our programming and nancial models. We aspired to become more self-sustaining while deepening our impact as an Academic and Community Engagement ACE unit.

There is more work to be done, as shifting philanthropic and economic landscapes have impacted our eorts. Yet we are establishing consistent practices, driven by data-informed decision-making, stewarded by a stellar team, and rooted in a future-focused $12M-$25M campaign. We are pragmatically optimistic about what lies ahead for the Stone Center!
