This is Foundations first Annual Report since it was established in 2019 and it has been a year characterised by developing activities and services alongside setting up necessary policies, procedures and systems. The pioneering work and staff of ‘Your Local Pantry’ and the award winning Motiv8 service have been transferred to Foundations as their work is very much in line with our aims and priorities. Foundations have also been working in a diverse range of other areas including working with homeless people with complex and multiple needs, apprenticeship schemes, school holiday projects as well as a furniture recycling scheme. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to achieve so much in the first year. Welcome to Foundations Stockport, we are a charitable community benefit society established in 2019 as part of the Stockport Homes Group. Foundations has four broad key aims and activity is structured and prioritised to deliver against these aims; • Supporting people into employment, relieving poverty, relieving food poverty and developing digital skills. • Supporting customers in local communities and delivering support services to help people live independently. • Empowering communities to develop networks of support, including targeted work with people who may experience disadvantage such as people with disabilities, from BAME communities and those with complex needs. • Working in partnership to reduce demand on statutory services; and supporting the development of the Third Sector, ensuring additional resources and services are secured. We have been working closely with the people of Stockport to help transform lives in our local communities. This includes: • Furniture recycling, collecting good quality furniture and gifting it to households in need to make their house into a home and reducing landfill waste. • Providing accommodation and intensive support to people who are homeless, to get them back on their feet. • Affordable holiday clubs for local children, increasing their self-confidence and aspirations. • A network of community food stores called Your Local Pantry, helping people make their money go further. • Motiv8 service works with people with complex needs to address their issues and move towards education, training and employment. We are proud of our contribution to making Stockport a great place to live and work. 3
Employment Support
Motiv8 Motiv8 works with people to develop a personalised action plan and support package to help them get back on track and address any issues. By improving peoples’ wellbeing, confidence and employability skills, peoples’ chances of accessing training or finding a job will increase. Motiv8 has received a total of 284 new referrals accross Stockport and Rochdale, 261 people have been successfully supported and 113 people continue to receive support “I was in a rut before I met my Motiv8 keyworker and felt that I was running into walls. She has helped me with my confidence, kept me positive and made me realise things are okay. I have really opened up to her because she is a good listener and always has a way of making you see the good stuff. I don’t think there is anything else anyone could have done for me, I’m now on a training course and she is the one who helped me get there. I want to thank her for all her support” Motiv8 customer

Homelessness
GM Housing First Greater Manchester Housing First (GMHF) is a three-year pilot project that aims to provide safe, secure homes for more than 400 people who are homeless or at the risk of being homeless across the region. Foundations Stockport is reponsible to the delivery of the pilot within one of four cluster areas (delivering in Oldham, Stockport and Tameside). A total of ten referrals have been received, with seven engaged by the service, of these seven people supported by the project: • Six have secured accommodation • All seven are addressing their substance misuse issues • Six have developed living skills • Six have been supported to access health services
Rough Sleeping Initiative project Since November 2019 two outreach workers have been working across Stockport and Trafford and encouraged eight people to take up the offer of housing and put a support package in place 5
Young People
Mental Toughness 204 individual young people have benefitted from Foundations Mental Toughness programme across 12 schools in Stockport. This programme also supports a key priority for Stockport Council to increase school attendance and school readiness.

If he has stayed at home, he would be hearing and speaking the Russian language, and not practising all the grammar skills and vocabulary we had been teaching him in order to achieve his end of year expectations”. Youth Provision Fabulous Foundations holiday clubs run in every school holidays for four days a week. 244 young people attended Fabulous Foundations holiday clubs. Fabulous Foundations generated £89,670 of social value this year as a result of volunteering alone, with seven new youth volunteers joining the project and a total of 942 hours of volunteer time committed. 6
Fighting Poverty
Furniture Recycling Project The Furniture Recycling Project collected furniture from 362 households and delivered to 473 households in need with 781 individual pieces of furniture provided. 33.6 tonnes was diverted away from landfill.
Your Local Pantry YLP has provided affordable groceries to an average membership of 544 households. 9,232 visits have been made across the five pantries, offering potential savings for members of £575 per houseold per year with total savings across the membership amounting to £106,168 in 2019/20. The pantries generated £93,652 of social value as a result of volunteering alone with 4,314 hours of volunteer time being commited. 31 volunteers have been supported through a comprehensive induction programme including training in manual handline and Food Hygiene Level 2. 7
