WELCOME Welcome to our new season of music at St Martin-in-the-Fields. At the core of our programme is the Masterworks Series which is a curated collection of landmark performances showcasing world-renowned artists, celebrated ensembles, and monuments of the choral and orchestral repertoire. The series features concerts from our partner ensembles who make St Martin’s their London home: the Academy of St Martin in the Fields – who present a series of standout concerts featuring celebrated soloists Conrad Tao, Augustin Hadelich, Eric Lu and Sterling Elliott – and the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras, who perform Bach’s sacred masterpiece St Matthew Passion and Handel’s oratorio Theodora. Other highlights include concerts by organist of Notre-Dame de Paris, Olivier Latry; Jeffrey Skidmore directing his final London performance with Ex Cathedra, Monteverdi’s Vespers; The King’s Singers, with their signature blend of precision and charm, while the Dunedin Consort deliver a crisp, vibrant
period-instrument performance of Handel’s great Belshazzar. Our Passiontide, Holy Week & Easter Festival offers deep reflection through concerts from ensembles including The Tallis Scholars, Tenebrae and the BBC Singers. Meanwhile, our celebrated By Candlelight Concerts continue to illuminate the nave with everything from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and classical masterworks to modern favourites like music from Bridgerton. Beyond the main stage, explore intimate musical journeys in our Choral Discovery Series with the St Martin’s Voices and Crypt Close-Up concerts; enjoy our accessible £10 Lunchtime Concerts in partnership with City Music Foundation and Darbar Trust; or bring the whole family to our interactive Family Classics and Come and Sing events. Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning to your musical home in Trafalgar Square, we look forward to welcoming you this season. Olivier Latry organ The great French organ tradition comes to the heart of London as St Martin-in-the-Fields welcomes Olivier Latry, organiste titulaire of Notre Dame de Paris. Standing in a tradition that extends back to such giants of French organ playing as Widor, Vierne and Marcel Dupré, Latry is one of the finest organists on the planet. Naturally, he will be playing masterworks from the French tradition, as well as colourful virtuoso transcriptions. But above all, he’ll be improvising on melodies suggested by you, the audience – an unmissable demonstration of this ancient art by one of its most brilliant living exponents.

Stile Antico: Towards the Dawn A musical journey from evening to sunrise
La Serenissima: Here Comes the Sun!
Stile Antico From dawn to dusk with Stile Antico: 12 superb singers sing the music of the night, from Allegri’s Miserere to Taverner’s mighty Ave Dei patris filia. As the world turns, twilight deepens into night until the first rays of dawn herald the rebirth of day. It’s no secret that composers have found the hours of darkness inspiring, and Stile Antico follows their nocturnal wanderings tonight. Renaissance masters mourn the setting sun, sacred harmonies glow in the dark and blossoming polyphony illuminates the returning day. With composers like Allegri, Tallis, Monteverdi and Nico Muhly the music creates its own light: a beautiful showcase for the ‘breathtaking freshness, vitality and balance’ of these 12 exceptional singers. One critic called them ‘a cappella heaven’ and you’re about to hear why. Tickets: £35 £30 £25 £16 £10
Programme includes: Vivaldi Violin Concertos from La Cetra, Op.9: Concerto No.1 in C, RV181a; Concerto No.2 in A, RV345; Concerto No.5 in A minor, RV358, as well as works from unpublished manuscripts.
La Serenissima Adrian Chandler violin/director Blazing fiddles, Venetian elegance and off-the-scale energy: prepare for a sunburst of inspiration on the 300th birthday of Vivaldi’s La Cetra. In 1727, when Vivaldi dedicated his Concertos Op.9 to the Emperor Charles VI, he called them La Cetra (The Lyre) – a reference to the instrument played by Apollo, God of sunlight and music. 300 years later, these dazzling violin concertos sing, dance and positively glitter with Venetian sunlight. Tickets: £35 £30 £25 £16 £10
THURSDAY 18 FEBRUARY, 7:30PM
