Church Family News
1. St. Mark's Players. There will be a meeting of the Drama Club in the Session Room this evening at 18.00. All welcome to discuss future plans. 2. Bible Study. Understanding Our Faith. Stiubhart will begin a new series of studies exploring our Christian faith on Thursday 12th September at 19.30 in the Session Room. Teas, Coffees and ďŹ ne pieces as well. Everyone most welcome. 3. F.W.O. Envelopes. A reminder to those who use the F.W.O. envelopes to please write the amount enclosed on the outside of the envelope. 4. Duty Rotas. Changes have been made to the Duty Rotas and copies of the updated lists have been placed on the Notice Board in the vestibule and are also available in the Deacons’ Room this morning. 5. First Aiders. If you are a First Aider with an up to date certificate, or you are prepared to undergo training as a First Aider, please make yourselves known to our Session Clerks, Dianne Morrison/Helen Burr, or to our Property Convenor, Graeme Low. 6. Defibrillator Training. We now have a Defibrillator, located at the bottom of the stairs leading from the hall to the Church (Library side). Training on how to safely use the Defibrillator has been arranged to take place in the Hall on Sundays 17 and 24 November from 14.0016.00. The training is open to all so if you are interested please add your name to the list in the vestibule and indicate which Sunday you would wish to attend. A copy list is also available downstairs in the hall. Numbers are restricted to 8 persons per week. 7. An Exploring Eldership Workshop is being held in South Holburn Church on Saturday 5 October from 09.30-12.30. All elders and prospective elders are welcome. 8. World Mission Newsletter. The latest edition is in the vestibule this morning. Some Church of Scotland members report on their visits to partner congregations abroad. 9. Church Without Walls. "Seeing Afresh", a book written by David McCarthy, the Church of Scotland's Fresh Expressions Development Worker, is due to be published soon. Please see the posters in the hall and vestibule for further information. 10. Aberdeen Guilds Together Autumn Rally takes place during Guild Week in Cults Church on Saturday 14 September at 14.30. An idea of numbers is required so please speak to Elsa Black if you expect to attend. 11. The James Tyrrell Centre (Mastrick Parish Church) is looking for a Centre Supervisor (Temporary) and an Activities Coordinator/Carer (Temporary). The Hospital Chaplaincy Department has vacancies for volunteers. If you are interested please see the information on the Notice Boards in the hall and vestibule. Application forms are available from the Office. 13. Somebody Cares. If you are able, please bring along one item of nonperishable (canned/packet) food each week to place in the food collections. We currently have two bins located in the hall but once the donations have been uplifted this will be reduced to one bin. 14. Aberdeen Presbytery Conferences: (a) Early Years Conference 2019 — 14 September 2019 10.00 16.00 at Dunblane Cathedral, Dunblane. Tickets (£20) are limited and available on a first come first served basis. (b) Pastoral Care Conference in Action — 16 November 2019 09.30 - 15.00 at Cults Kirk Centre. This event is planned by Ferryhill Church Friendship Team and is intended to be open
to all churches in Presbytery. A charge of £10 will be made per delegate to cover cost of lunch and expenses. For further information on these, and other events please see the information folder (red) held in the Deacons’ Room. 15. Local Baby Loss Support Service. The Mariposa Trust is returning to Aberdeen in September with another Baby loss support service, to be held on 22 September at 15.00 in St. Andrew’s Cathedral. For further information about this service, and others being held around Scotland, please see the information on the Notice Board in the hall. 16. lntimations. Please ensure that all intimations are passed on to the Church Office by 12.00 on Wednesday each week for enclosing in the Order of Service. 17. Please let us know of:(a) Any member of the Church or a member of their family being in hospital; or (b) Any member of the Church who is unable to come on a Sunday and who would appreciate Home Holy Communion.
