Church Family News
1. The Messenger. Today is the deadline for the Autumn Messenger. Please ensure that all contributions are with the Editor as soon as possible. Thanks. If you are available to help with collating the magazine, one morning 4 times a year, please speak to our Session Clerks, Dianne Morrison or Helen Burr. 2. Crown Terrace Methodist Church. The induction service for the Rev. Dr. James Garnett takes place this afternoon at 16.00. All welcome. 3. Bible Study. Understanding Our Faith. Stiubhart will begin a new series of studies exploring our Christian faith on Thursday 12th September at 19.30 in the Session Room. Teas, Coffees and fine pieces as well. Everyone most welcome. 4. Courts Service. A service will be held in Constitution Court at 13.30 today. This is a short informal service, and all are invited to attend. 5. F.W.O. Envelopes. A reminder to those who use the F.W.O. envelopes to please write the amount enclosed on the outside of the envelope. 6. Duty Rotas. Changes have been made to the Duty Rotas and copies of the updated lists have been placed on the Notice Board in the vestibule and are also available in the Deacons’ Room this morning. 7. St. Mark’s Players. There will be a meeting of the Drama Club in the Session Room on Sunday 8 September at 18.00. All welcome to discuss future plans.
8. World Mission Newsletter. The latest edition is in the vestibule this morning. Some Church of Scotland members report on their visits to partner congregations abroad. 9. Aberdeen Guilds Together. Autumn Rally takes place during Guild Week in Cults Church on Saturday 14 September at 14.30. An idea of numbers is required so please speak to Elsa Black if you expect to attend. 10. Safeguarding Training. Another training date will be held on Wednesday 4 September from 19.00-21.30 (registration from 18.40) in Dyce Church, 152 Victoria Street, Dyce, AB21 7DN. If interested please speak to Helen Burr today. Attendees require to be registered today. 11. The James Tyrrell Centre (Mastrick Parish Church) is looking for a Centre Supervisor (Temporary) and an Activities Co=coordinator/Carer (Temporary). If you are able, please bring along one item of non-perishable (canned/packet) food each week to place in the food collections. There will now be only one bin, located in the hall. 13. Aberdeen Presbytery Conferences: (a) Early Years Conference 2019 – 14 September 2019 10.00-16.00 at Dunblane Cathedral, Dunblane. Tickets (£20) are limited and available on a first come first served basis. (b) Pastoral Care Conference in Action – 16 November 2019 09.3015.00 at Cults Kirk Centre. This event is planned by Ferry Church Friendship Team and is intended to be open to all churches in Presbytery. A charge of £10 will be made per delegate to cover cost of lunch and expenses. 14. Local Baby Loss Support Service. The Mariposa Trust is returning to Aberdeen in September with another Baby loss support service, to be held on 22 September at 15.00 in St. Andrew’s Cathedral. For further information about this service, and others being held around Scotland, please see the information on the Notice Board in the hall. 15. Intimations. Please ensure that all intimations are passed on to the Church Office by 12.00 on Wednesday each week for inclosing in the Order of Service. Please let us know of:(a) Any member of the Church or a member of their family being in hospital; or (b) Any member of the Church who is unable to come on a Sunday and who would appreciate Home Holy Communion.
