PRESIDENT: Let us now stand and reaffirm our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ in the words of the Nicene Creed.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen or unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. READER: Lord, you made all kinds of people, even people like me. In your love you gather them into your Church. As you gather your people this day, help me to serve them in a Christlike manner, even as your Son served those who gathered about
him. Make me prayerful and patient, helpful and understanding, and may I radiate the joy that faith brings as I serve their needs. Give me your strength to support my fellow ministers. May all who assemble to celebrate our common faith in the risen Saviour be glad of heart for being here and for having encountered your Son in one another, in our priest, at the tables of the book and the Bread, and through the ministry of ushers like me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

ALL: Almighty God, governor of all things in Heaven and earth: Receive now, we pray, our supplications for protection from storms or hurricanes. We acknowledge that we are unworthy for the least of your mercies, yet we humbly pray that you will so hold the winds of heaven that we may dwell safely without fear of evil; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. 1 What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear –all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.
2 Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer! Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weaknesstake it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour, still our refuge! Take it to the Lord in prayer! Do your friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he’ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
