1 Crown him with many crowns, the Lamb upon his throne, hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own: awake, my soul, and sing of him who died for thee, and hail him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

Hurricane Melissa Recovery

PRESIDENT: Lord God, from whom no human suffering is hidden and no cry of pain goes unheard: Be with those whose lives have been torn apart recently by Hurricane Melissa, that finding consolation in their grief, and new purpose in their actions, they may, with the help of charities and the support of neighbours, rebuild their lives and find wholeness and peace once again. May we, and other islands who have been spared of this hurricane, be inspired by your spirit of love, compassion and generosity, to respond with a hand of care to our Caribbean neighbour, Jamaica, and others affected, with the means you have blessed us with, through Jesus Christ our Lord. READER: May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. PRESIDENT: When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing." And they cast lots to divide his clothing. The people stood by, watching Jesus on the cross; but the leaders scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah of God, his chosen one!" The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, and saying, "If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!" There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews." One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding him and saying, "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!" But the other rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." He replied, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

THE SERMON

PRESIDENT: Let us now stand and reaffirm our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ in the words of the Nicene Creed.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen or unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. PRESIDENT: All glory, praise and thanksgiving be unto you, O Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, Everlasting God, you created the world and all mankind, and of your tender mercy gave your only Son Jesus Christ to take our nature upon Him, and to suffer death upon the cross, for our redemption, He made there, by His own oblation of Himself once offered, a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and He instituted, and in his holy Gospel commanded us to continue, a perpetual memory of His precious death, until His coming again.
