Bush, AOC hit picket line with UAW strikers ‘Solidarity is the strategy’

By Dawn Suggs St. Louis American Ten days after tens of thousands UAW workers walked off their jobs at selected sites and began a “stand-up” strike against the “Big Three” automobile manufacturers Ford, General Motors, and Stilantis, Congresswomen Cori Bush (D-St. Louis) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) joined a picket line at the GM Assembly Plant in Wentzville. The duo spoke earlier at the Sept. 24 rally for UAW workers of Local Union 2250 in the Union Hall. Marvin Thomas loves tinkering “I see things differently than other people.”

Marvin Thomas, 65, is an inventor. He is the oldest son of a father who happened to be named Benjamin Franklin Thomas. It would be an interesting tidbit if his dad followed the path of Marvin Benjamin Franklin, who Thomas was a writer, political philosopher, scientist and noted inventor. But Thomas’ father was well known as a beloved automotive instructor at several area high schools and technical schools and didn’t consider himself an official “inventor.” “He just loved to take things apart and fix them,” Thomas recalled. American again wins Gold Cup Seventh time in last 11 years for MPA’s highest honor

By St. Louis American Staff The St. Louis American received Missouri Press Association’s Gold Cup award at its convention last weekend in Westport. The American, which tied for first with the Washington Missourian, has now won the state press association’s top honor seven of the last 11 years, which is unprecedented. In total, the American won

31 total statewide awards in the Better Newspaper Contest against newspapers with a circulation of 5,000 or more. The awards include the first place award for general excellence, which the American has now won eight times. Each year, a different state press association judges the competition.
