Humans may not have made it to Mars yet, but Jemison, who became the first African-American woman in space, is still looking towards the future with an optimistic eye. A memorial celebration of the life of longtime St. Louis activist, attorney and radio personality Lizz Brown will be held on Saturday, November 4 at the J.C. Penny Auditorium at the University of Missouri St. Louis, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Brown passed away September 6, 2017 following a Lizz Brown battle with cancer. She is survived by her son, Kaylen, her father, and two brothers. Donations in Lizz Brown’s memory will go to support her young son Kaylen’s education.
