Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to St Joseph’s Nudgee College for our 2026 Open Day.
This year, we are celebrating 135 years of existence and today, you will have the opportunity to explore our exceptional school and understand what has compelled families to entrust their sons’ education to us since 1891. As a proud Catholic school, we foster an inclusive and supportive environment that will be evident today as you walk around the campus.
Br Ambrose Treacy’s vision was for Nudgee College to offer young men the gifts of “faith, formation, and opportunity”a philosophy that continues to guide and inspire our students today.
More than 1,730 students call Nudgee College their school, including over 315 boarders for whom it is also their home. We are proud that every boy has infinite opportunities to explore and develop his talents throughout his time here in whatever pathway he chooses. Our students are passionate about their school, dedicated to their learning, and inspired to live out the College’s values of faith, excellence, courage, community, justice and authenticity.
I invite you to join a tour led by our exceptional students, who will guide you through many of the outstanding facilities we are proud to offer. Hear and understand what a Nudgee education for your son(s) will be like in their voices.
Feel free to pause the tour at any point to speak with staff or, afterwards, revisit areas of interest.
A defining feature of Nudgee College is the deep sense of community that permeates the school. As you engage with our remarkable students, dedicated staff, and both current and past parents, you’ll gain a genuine appreciation for what makes Nudgee such a special place.

I will welcome everyone at 12.00pm and invite you to attend a Q&A session with members of the College Leadership Team (CLT) and our College Captain, to be held at Tierney Green thereafter. The CLT and members of our Board will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Throughout the time you spend at Nudgee, you will see our renowned, deeply ingrained “Nudgee Spirit” in action as our boys face Anglican Church Grammar School across our Football and Tennis Programs. A great example of this is at 1.15pm, when the 1st XI Football match takes place on Ross Oval.
I trust that all you see, hear, and do today will help you and your family decide when your son’s journey at Nudgee College may begin. I wish you all the best in making this important decision.
Mr Stephen Meara Acting College Principal
