As we welcome a new year and look toward the seasons ahead, I’m reminded once again of how fortunate we are to call this extraordinary region home—or home away from home. With every passing year, our community continues to grow in ways that honor both the natural beauty of Northwest Florida and the remarkable lifestyle we share together.

Across the region, thoughtful progress is shaping our future. The expansion along Highway 79 is creating new opportunities for community living, enhanced shopping, and an expansive health and wellness campus that will serve generations to come. At the same time, continued development at Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is opening our doors to even more travelers, with new direct flights from New York and several major cities across the U.S.—bringing fresh connections while allowing our Members easier access to and from this special place.
Within Watersound Club, that sense of growth feels just as meaningful. This issue celebrates the many ways our Club is evolving—with an emphasis on leadership, sustainability, and the experiences that enrich daily life for every Member. You’ll meet several of the incredible women whose vision and expertise help shape the moments our Members cherish here at the Club. One of these remarkable leaders oversees our retail program, ensuring you have the perfect Watersound Club look for every setting—whether you’re on the course, in the gym, or relaxing at home.
We also take an important look at our expanding sustainability efforts, from environmental initiatives to long-term practices designed to preserve the beauty and health of our coastal region.
These efforts underscore our responsibility to future generations and our shared commitment to stewarding this place we all love.
Speaking of future generations, this issue also highlights the joy and opportunities created through our generational memberships. From new tennis pros and expanded racquet programming to summer camps in golf and tennis that inspire young athletes, there are endless ways for families and future Members to connect, grow, and create traditions that will last a lifetime.
A special focus of this issue is on love and celebrations, specifically, the weddings that bring so much joy to our Watersound Club community. You’ll enjoy a personal profile featuring a familiar face recently married at Camp Creek Inn, a reminder of the magic these moments bring to our Members and our Club. With stunning locations and a team dedicated to thoughtful, seamless planning, Watersound Club venues continue to be places where unforgettable celebrations take shape. We look forward to many more love stories unfolding across our properties in the years ahead.
As always, thank you for being a vital part of what makes the Watersound Club experience so exceptional. Your passion, engagement, and love for this community drive us to continually elevate the experience we offer. We look forward to all that 2026 will bring and to serving you in every season of the year.

Shop the latest looks, and gear up across Watersound Club® retail shops and social platforms

When in Rome, you do as the Romans do. When at the Club, you do as the Members do— which often begins with dressing the part. Exploring the latest gear, fits, and accessories across Watersound Club® retail shops is the perfect way to seize the day and slip seamlessly into the Club lifestyle.
“At our pro shops, Watersound Club Members enjoy a special shopping experience with one-on-one attention from our friendly staff and access to exclusive Watersound Club logo gear,” says Emily Reynolds, Watersound Club Director of Retail.
For Reynolds, that experience begins long before a Member walks through the door. She keeps a close eye on emerging apparel trends by engaging with social media, attending markets and tradeshows, and cultivating strong relationships with sales representatives—an approach that ensures the retail vision remains as current as it is curated. “Our dedicated team consistently seeks out the newest styles and brands,” she says. “We carefully select pieces that align with the Club aesthetic and resonate with our Members.”
The result is a thoughtful mix of golf, tennis, and lifestyle merchandise designed for on-the-go living. The Club partners with coveted brands, including Lululemon, Vuori, Varley, and Holderness & Bourne, and collaborates closely with branded-merchandise vendors such as L2 Brands, ICW, and Comfort Colors to bring in fresh, vibrant graphics that allow Members to proudly showcase their Watersound Club connection.
Reynolds notes that strengthening community is at the heart of her work. Every shipment is selected with Members in mind—items that help them look and feel their best

whether they are stepping onto the course, onto the courts, or simply out into the day. “Every shipment is curated with our Members at heart, creating a shopping experience where they can find both essentials and timeless keepsakes,” she says.
Club style is intentionally versatile. Polished polos that transition from a morning meeting to an afternoon on the greens, sweaters that can be tossed over the shoulder or dressed up for dinner—each piece is chosen to reflect the effortless sophistication that defines the life of a Watersound Club Member.
Across Mercantile at Watersound Beach Club, Camp Creek® Outfitter Shop, Camp Creek® Pro Shops, and Sharks Tooth Pro Shop, Reynolds ensures that every retail outlet offers something distinct yet unmistakably the Club. “Keeping our offerings fresh and showcasing the Club effectively is essential to us,” she says. “We want our Club to shine in a way that is widely recognized.”
And for Members, that shine begins with looking—and living—the part.

Watersound Club signature events strengthen community and create lasting memories
Written By ZANDRA WOLFGRAM
At the Club, the seasons unfold not just in weather but in the rhythm of cherished traditions. From fireworks on the Fourth to festive breakfasts with Santa, every gathering is designed to bring neighbors, friends, and families closer together. These events, both time-honored and new, have become the heartbeat of the community—a calendar of connection that turns moments into memories.
“Events and traditions are the heart of the Club community experience,” says Club Events Manager Cameron Fish. “They foster connection, create shared memories, and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes this place so special.”
Fish says that sense of belonging is never more evident than during the Club’s most celebrated moments throughout the year.
“Our Members know exactly where they’ll be for every major holiday— right here with us,” Fish said. “From sunrise service and eggs on the lawn at Easter to Valentine’s Day dinners at every location, exclusive wine dinners with sought-after vineyards like Copper Cane and Caymus, Memorial Day and Fourth of July celebrations, and festive gatherings

for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, the Club has become their home for every season.”
At Camp Creek® Inn, General Manager Jean Capps has watched simple gatherings blossom into beloved rituals. “We already have a following of families who enjoy our annual Breakfast with Santa, cookie decorating, and our Easter egg hunt,” she says. “We dropped 5,000 candyfilled eggs last year, and seeing all the children smiling and dressed for Easter—it’s wonderful.”
She believes what makes these events special is not just the décor or activities but the feeling they create. “It’s a time for gathering—parents, grandparents, cousins—all together,” Capps says. “It’s a peaceful setting that allows people to be in the moment.”
That sense of intimacy and belonging is woven into every detail. “Our staff know many Members by name,” she adds. “We want them to feel as if this is their living room or their lawn.”

Events and traditions are the heart of the Watersound community experience. They foster connection, create shared memories, and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes this place so special.”
— CAMERON FISH, Club Events Manager

Across the Club, celebrations pulse with personality. Fish points to Rhythm on the Range and the Summer Solstice as quintessential examples of The Club’s festive spirit. “Summer Solstice is a favorite,” she says. “Everyone is dressed in white, the weather is beautiful, and you leave the event feeling so grateful to live in such a beautiful place surrounded by amazing people.”
These gatherings may sparkle on the surface, but their depth comes from intention. “The details are meaningful—they reflect connection and authenticity,” Fish explains. “That’s what makes them timeless.”
At Shark’s Tooth, camaraderie grows naturally from competition. General Manager Patrick Kralik says golf tournaments such as Sharkfest, the Women’s Invitational, and the Senior Member Guest are more than just sporting events—they’re social cornerstones. “These tournaments bring Members together,” he says. “You
may not know who you’re playing with, but by the end, you’ve made a new friend. It really fosters a fun atmosphere and a sense of community.”
His favorite event, Sharkfest, spans three days and culminates in dinner and live music. “As one of the tournaments that includes spouses for the dinner and awards,” Kralik says. “It’s such a great way for everyone to celebrate together.”
That same inclusive energy infuses every aspect of Club life. At the The Beach Club, General Manager Lucas Sneddon says hospitality is at the heart of everything his team does. “Our goal is always to create memorable experiences for our Members,” he says. “Every event is a chance to bring people together, to surprise and delight them, and to make sure they feel cared for in a way that feels personal.”
From family picnics to elegant soirées, each event reflects the Club’s blend of Southern hospitality and modern ease—a place where
meaningful moments are the measure of success.
As the calendar turns and another season begins, familiar traditions will return—Easter mornings, patriotic gatherings, fall festivals, and holiday evenings that twinkle with laughter. Each one is a chance to pause, to gather, and to celebrate what truly makes Watersound Club membership extraordinary: its people.

Family and tradition thrive through a Watersound Club
Written By PAIGE AIGRET
Watersound Club® properties are more than a destination— they’re a way of living.
A coastal Northwest Florida retreat, the Watersound Club lifestyle affords everyday amenities and top-tier club industry experiences. Yet, what makes it most meaningful are the people who share it.
Within the Club, Members are welcomed not just as individuals but as families, and the Club itself has become a gathering place where generations reconnect, relax, and rediscover one another.
Club visits regularly inspire bonding, where fathers and sons-in-law hit it off over a round of golf; lazy river splashes inspire laughter between siblings; cousins find common interests in group classes, while grandparents and parents trade stories over dinner; and entire families reconvene at the end of the day for evening trivia.
To make those connections even easier, the Club recently reopened the Generational Membership add-on—a benefit that extends membership privileges to a Member’s broader family, including adult children, in-laws, parents, and grandparents.
“It’s an added benefit to our Members, an enhancement if you will,” says Hollie Parker, Director of Membership Sales. “It allows their adult children to be able to come and visit the Club when the Member isn’t present with them.”
As adult children of Members grow out of this benefit, they have the additional opportunity to extend Club access through Generational Membership. They can enjoy the same freedoms as primary Members— full access to Club amenities and the ability to invite up to four of their own guests—without requiring the sponsoring Member’s presence.
“The biggest draw is having that ability to come to the Club when they want to and not have to worry about the Member being present with them,” Parker says.
The program can be added to the Club’s signature Lifestyle Membership or the retired Beach & Sport plan. The only stipulation is that Generational Members must reside outside Bay, Walton, and Okaloosa counties—though the Member adding them may be a full-time or part-time local resident.
“So many of our Members don’t live here full time,” Parker notes. “This is their second home; this is their second Club.”

Roughly 35 to 40 percent of the membership base lives in the region year-round. But with the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport expanding service and remote work on the rise, Parker says that number is growing. “It kept growing. We saw the need for it, and we want it to be a family-oriented Club. So yes, the Members’ children may age out one day, but we want those children to come back and be a part of the Club so they don’t miss out.”
That sense of return—of families finding their way back—mirrors a regional trend. Tourists and transplants alike are drawn to the Gulf Coast by a well-worn pipeline that runs through cities like Atlanta, Nashville, and New Orleans. “It’s within driving distance, and everyone wants to come to the beach,” Parker says. “They want the outdoor experience. So having that Generational option has been huge because we are within driving distance or just a short flight.”
And when they arrive, there’s something for every generation. The Club’s amenities are designed to inspire shared

experiences, whether that’s a splash in the lazy river, a round of trivia, or a spirited game of mahjong. Sports like golf, tennis, pickleball, and sporting clays bring together parents, grandparents, and grandchildren, often turning into teaching moments.
“Over at the Performance Center, we are incorporating more junior golf clinics and classes because there’s so much interest,” Parker says. “And I think it’s passed down from their parents or grandparents who’ve been so involved in golf.”

HOLLIE PARKER, Director of Membership Sales
As families expand and spread out, Watersound Club amenities provide a central place to gather—a “home away
from home” that keeps everyone connected. “Families are growing, they’re spreading out,” Parker says. “But they wanted one central location. Not only did they want it for the family to come together and enjoy it, but they wanted it so they could come at different times.”
The new extension removes that limitation. Members can now customize their plan by enrolling only the relatives who visit most often, for a one-time enrollment fee and modest annual dues per family member—a savings compared to a separate membership.
“It gives the flexibility that’s important to have with membership,” Parker says. “And it gives families more reasons to come home to the Club and build memories together.”

With stunning locations and expert planning, the Club creates dream weddings
Written By NANCI THEORET
Like many Florida brides, Weslyn Brown had hoped for a romantic sunset during her December wedding to Elijah at Camp Creek ® Inn. Instead, fog rolled in on the ceremony and deer crashed the reception, meandering past the grand tent on the inn’s front lawn. “It was magical, just perfect,” says Brown, Watersound Club Wedding Sales Manager who collaborates with brides-to-be, wedding planners, and vendors. “The entire day was fabulous.”
The couple’s nuptials were the first for Camp Creek Inn, one of three premier wedding venues available at the Club. Shark’s Tooth and The Beach Club also host ceremonies and receptions—from dreamy beachfronts, boardwalks, and poolside locales to rolling fairways and verdant greens. The Club’s picturesque buildings with gracious coastal architecture capture a sense of place while sweeping lawns offer opportunities for underthe-stars or tented events. Indoor venues

also include Camp Creek Inn’s 1936 restaurant.
“Our venues provide a blank canvas for brides to create their perfect day,” says Brown, who fell in love with Camp Creek Inn and its amenities her first day on the job. “It’s stunning—the lawns, the sunsets, the deer feeders. Wedding locations at the Club are unique with beautiful backdrops.”
Crafting one-of-a-kind weddings is the Club’s forte, led by a manager with personal insight. And the sky’s the limit. The Club easily accommodates intimate affairs and grand soirees, and the professional team closely collaborates with couples to cover every last detail to bring their dreams to life.
Other than her own wedding, Brown counts among her favorites a glamorous reception with cocktails and après-dinner dancing in a clear tent adjacent to the Beach Club pool. “The décor was beautiful, and there were flowers everywhere,” she recalls. “They had different lighting fixtures, chandeliers, and greenery over a large bar. No two weddings are

alike at the Club. We personalize every one to the individual couple.”
From ceremony to reception, couples enjoy a thoughtfully planned special day. All-inclusive packages provide a cocktail hour with passed hors d’oeuvres followed by a customizable plated or strolling gourmet dinner with a fourhour premium brand bar. A bottle of sparkling wine accompanies the cake cutting, and newlyweds receive a complimentary stay the night of their wedding.
Out-of-town and overnight guests are readily accommodated by Watersound Club boutique hotels, Camp Creek Inn and Watersound Inn, where they enjoy a “Member for a Stay” experience with access to golf and amenities—a convenience

that also factored into Brown’s Watersound Club decision.
The Browns’ 150-guest ceremony, originally planned for the picturesque 1936 Lawn, was moved to a nearby covered patio due to the relentless rain. “Honestly, it worked out so well,” she says. “It was more intimate and brought everyone close. The team went above and beyond to make us and our guests feel special.”
The Club easily acquiesces to changes and challenges, providing a full complement of tents, fans, and heaters depending on the weather. Backup plans and flexible indoor and
alfresco spaces ensure a seamless transition if a venue shift is necessary.
The team encourages brides and wedding planners to personalize their Club experience. The Browns’ cocktail hour was themed to her labradoodle, the tent affectionately nicknamed “Bank’s Park.” The plated dinner under a sailcloth tent featured a duo of beef tenderloin and grilled grouper—just a sampling of the incredible cuisine created by masterful chefs at all Club locations.
Despite overseeing countless weddings, Brown admits that planning her own was “a whole different ball game.” She had a newfound respect for the Club team that was by her side every step of the way—confident, supportive, and calm under pressure, handling the details with professional aplomb. Now that she’s experienced a wedding as a bride, Brown is even more passionate about parlaying the same experience for others.
“It’s shown me areas I wouldn’t normally think about, but now they cross my mind,” she notes. “I have so many things I can share with brides that they might not think about. I’m also building relationships with our vendors who truly care about you and making your day special.”

SELECT YOUR VENUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. “We are booked pretty far in advance and are already planning 2027 weddings,” explains Brown. “We start working on a wedding as soon as a couple books.”
LEAN ON YOUR WEDDING PLANNER. Full-time planners are required for a Club wedding, and Brown was thankful for hers. “They take so much of the work and pressure off of you.”
STAY ON-SITE THE NIGHT BEFORE to settle in, calm the nerves, and avoid an agonizing drive on the big day.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE VETTED LIST of the Club’s preferred vendors, and contact them early. “Our band was amazing,” says Brown. “The dance floor was full all night long.”
REACH OUT WITH ANY QUESTIONS. Brown provides her personal cell phone number to brides and planners.

In today’s evolving financial landscape, investors are looking beyond traditional stocks and bonds to seek more diversified, resilient portfolios. One area gaining increasing attention among high-net-worth individuals is alternative investing—a broad category that includes private equity, hedge funds, real estate, private credit, and other nontraditional asset classes. For discerning investors, alternatives can provide an attractive balance of opportunity, diversification, and potential for long-term growth.
THE CASE FOR ALTERNATIVES
Unlike public markets, alternative investments often exhibit low correlation with traditional asset classes. This means they can help reduce volatility while potentially enhancing returns over time. For example, private real estate funds can offer consistent income and inflation protection through tangible assets, while private equity and venture capital can tap into the growth of innovative companies well before they reach the public markets. Additionally, hedge funds and private credit strategies
may provide access to sophisticated investment techniques—such as long-short equity or direct lending—that are designed to generate returns in both rising and falling markets. In essence, alternatives can help investors smooth the ride when markets become turbulent and add an extra dimension to wealth growth and preservation strategies.
The traditional “60/40” portfolio of stocks and bonds has served investors well for decades, but in periods of inflation or market dislocation, its limitations can become evident. Alternatives introduce exposure to different sources of risk and return, which can help protect purchasing power and preserve wealth through varying market cycles.
However, these investments are not without their complexities. They often come with longer holding periods, reduced liquidity, and specialized risk considerations. That’s why thoughtful allocation—guided by a qualified financial professional—is essential.*
Because alternative investments are typically less regulated and more complex than traditional options, access is limited to investors who meet specific financial thresholds set by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
An Accredited Investor is generally defined as:
• An individual with net worth exceeding $1 million, excluding the value of a primary residence; or
• An individual with income over $200,000 (or $300,000 jointly with a spouse) for each of the last two years, with a reasonable expectation of maintaining that income level.
Those meeting even higher thresholds may qualify as Qualified Purchasers, granting access to more exclusive private funds and institutional-grade opportunities. A Qualified Purchaser typically has at least $5 million in investments, not including primary residence or certain personal assets.
These standards are designed to ensure that investors participating in alternative markets have the financial sophistication and capacity to understand and bear the potential risks involved.
While the potential benefits of alternative investments are compelling, these strategies require careful due diligence, a long-term perspective, and alignment with broader financial goals. Working with a Private Wealth Advisor who has experience in the alternative space can help investors identify appropriate opportunities, manage risk exposure, and construct a portfolio designed for resilience and growth.
At the end of the day, alternative investments aren’t just about chasing higher returns—they’re about expanding your wealth strategy beyond the conventional, to build a more dynamic, diversified, and enduring financial future.

All investments have risk however the level and type of risks associated with alternative investments vary significantly and it’s important to understand them before investing. Among other things, alternative investments risks may include: leverage and other speculative investment practices that may increase the risk of loss; illiquid investments with long holding periods; restrictions on transferring interests; lack of periodic pricing or valuation information; complex tax structures and delays in distributing important tax information; investing in foreign markets which may entail risks that differ from those associated with investments in U.S. markets; higher fees which may offset trading profits; and in many cases the underlying investments are not transparent and are known only to the investment manager. Accolades and top 5 statewide rankings continue to pile up for Walton County School District

I could not be more proud of the tenacity, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence exhibited by everyone. We continue to close the gap in our quest to be the No. 1 school district in the state, and I believe we have the students, leadership, and community to make it happen.”
— A. RUSSELL HUGHES, WCSD Superintendent
Several critical elements need to coalesce for a community to see the interest and demand that Northwest Florida has experienced over the last several years. Homebuyers on a national scale are drawn to the quality of life that the region offers. Things like the easy pace of daily life, the climate, and the natural beauty are bringing new residents from farther afield than ever before. Among the community attributes that homebuyers value, education always ranks near the top, and in this category, Northwest Florida, and Walton County specifically, are thriving.
Walton County ranks among the fastestgrowing areas in the country. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county saw a 19.1 percent population increase from April 2020 to July 2024. That can put a strain on community resources such as the education system. The Walton County School District (WCSD), however, has not only satisfied the needs of the growing population by opening four brand-new schools and expanding, remodeling, or rebuilding numerous others over the past 10 years, but it has also elevated the quality of education that students are receiving countywide. The evidence is in the state-published rankings across many key categories, acknowledging WCSD among the best in Florida. One need look no further than school district performance results published by the Florida Department of Education to see Walton County near the top of several lists.
Over the past year, the news out of the district has felt like a consistent flow of great results and statewide accolades across several significant categories.
Most recently, WCSD achieved the second-highest high school graduation rate among Florida’s 67 counties for the 2024-2025 school year. The district’s 97.5 percent graduation rate trailed the top district statewide by just 0.1 percent.
Additionally, the Florida Department of Education releases school and district grades each year that are based on a points system comprised of achievement and learning gains components, middle school acceleration, graduation rate, and college and career acceleration. Earning an A grade for the 2024-2025 school year, WCSD tied for No. 2 in state rankings. The district is one of only seven in the state to have 100 percent A and B graded schools while seeing an increase in 11 out of 12 student success measures. This is the eighth consecutive year that WCSD has been ranked an A district.
The top five rankings for the district’s 2024-2025 school year also extend to state testing performance. According to the Florida Department of Education, WCSD ranked No. 3 in the state while improving its score by 59 points over the previous year. Among the test scores included in the rankings, WCSD ranked first in the state in geometry and in the top three in eight additional assessed areas. Further, test results placed WCSD in the top 10 of the state’s 67 counties in 20 out of 21 assessed areas.
While these results have begun to feel commonplace over the past several years, they have not always been the norm in Walton County. As recently as 2017, the district ranked 35th in the state testing results. Over the following eight years, the district has risen to No. 3 and continues to close the gap on the top spot each year. Over that same period, high school graduation rates have increased more than 20 percent.
Not coincidentally, the timing of these improvements aligns with WCSD welcoming a new superintendent, A. Russell Hughes, at the end of 2016. “We have continued to improve our standings for nine years,” expressed Superintendent Hughes. “Congratulations to our students, staff, school board, parents, and community on rowing in one direction

Walton County School District Superintendent A. Russell Hughes connects with students, reflecting the collaborative leadership and shared commitment driving the district’s academic excellence and continued statewide recognition.
toward the goal. I could not be more proud of the tenacity, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence exhibited by everyone. We continue to close the gap in our quest to be the No. 1 school district in the state, and I believe we have the students, leadership, and community to make it happen.”
It is not just the Florida Department of Education that has acknowledged the district’s achievements. The Florida Policy Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to providing accurate data, ranked WCSD No. 1 in education in its 2025 Child Well-Being Index. This is the second year that WCSD has topped these rankings. Superintendent Hughes is quick to point out that district-wide success is a team effort that takes the dedication of all stakeholders. According to Superintendent Hughes, “Accolades are always wonderful, but it is important to look further to see the students, teachers, staff, and administrators who work tirelessly to create the conditions that lead to these wonderful accolades. We are fortunate to have the best students in the country here in Walton County and a school board to match.”

Judging by its current trajectory, Walton County is positioned to continue to attract new residents looking for an ideal place to call home. These future residents are sure to enjoy the area’s natural beauty, pleasant climate, and dozens of other factors that create a high quality of life. For those with schoolaged children, the sense of peace that comes from knowing those children will be in the care of one of the top performing school districts in Florida may be the best part of all.

Inside Watersound® Real Estate’s relationship-driven approach to home, community, and coastal living
Written By CARRIE HONAKER
Early morning along Scenic Highway 30A, the air is cooler, salt still faint on the breeze, and the light slips softly through longleaf pines before reaching the road. Bike tires hum past, porch lights flicker off, and the Gulf appears in quick, blue glimpses between dunes, reminding you why people come here, and why so many decide to stay.

That sense of ease and belonging is what Watersound® Real Estate was built around. The boutique brokerage isn’t centered on transactions or timelines but on helping people find where they belong—whether that’s a first home tucked among trees, a second home steps from the beach, or a place large enough for generations to gather.
Diane Hausler arrived in the region in early 2025 and began work with Watersound Real Estate to build the residential brokerage from the ground up, shaping it around the culture of The St. Joe Company’s long-term, community-first vision. From the start, she focused on defining a mission rooted in professionalism, care, and a high-touch approach that feels personal rather than prescriptive.
“We’re very relationship-driven,” Hausler says. “It’s about understanding why someone is making a move and guiding them in a way that truly aligns with what they want next.”
That philosophy mirrors the way St. Joe develops its communities—deliberately, with an eye toward conservation and connection. Homes sit among preserved forests and natural landscapes. Trails link neighborhoods. Conveniences are close, but nothing feels crowded. You can live north of Highway 98, surrounded by trees and quiet mornings, and still be minutes from sugar-white sand and clear water.
Many Watersound Real Estate agents live in the communities they serve, working where they raise their children, host Sunday suppers, and watch the sun drop low over the Gulf. It creates an ease and familiarity that carries into every client relationship.
“This is a small community,” Hausler says. “Even if there are miles between neighborhoods, you’re going to see people again—at the Club, at the store, out walking. Our clients become our neighbors and our friends.”
The firm’s first brick-and-mortar office opened in the WaterColor® community, but its reach expanded quickly, with additional offices planned along 30A and in Bay County at the Pier Park® shopping and entertainment district. Still, Hausler emphasizes that presence matters more than addresses. “It’s about having agents who truly know the places they serve,” she says. “People who live there, who understand the rhythm of the community.”
Hausler’s own connection to the area began the same way it does for many Watersound Club® members. After a long career leading brokerages in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, she and her husband discovered the region while helping friends explore a second home. They became Watersound Club members first, then homeowners in the Watersound Origins® community, before she ever stepped into her current role.
“I came from a massive metro area,” she says. “What I love here is the quiet. The trees. The way nature is preserved. You can take a five-minute walk on the beach, and everything gets put into perspective.”

That lived experience shapes how Watersound Real Estate engages with Club members and prospective members alike. Several agents are Club members themselves, and the brokerage often serves as a trusted, low-pressure resource—whether someone is curious about a new neighborhood, considering a move within the community, or simply wanting to understand what’s coming next.
At its core, Watersound Real Estate is about stewardship—of land, of relationships, and of the pace of life that makes this place feel special. It’s about homes that sit comfortably within their surroundings, neighborhoods where conversation flows easily between porches, and growth that still feels human.
And that, ultimately, is what Watersound Real Estate offers: guidance rooted in care and a way home that feels as natural as the landscape itself.

The Emerald Coast of Northwest Florida is preparing for faster takeoffs—literally. The Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP)—ranked no. 4 on USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice awards—is undergoing a major expansion of its terminal, gates, and support facilities, and for Watersound Club ® Members, the upgrade promises smoother arrivals, expanded routes, and stronger connectivity to the region’s most exclusive addresses.
Since its opening in 2010, ECP has quietly become a regional linchpin for Northwest Florida Gulf Coast access. It has grown from 300,000 passengers a year to nearly 1.9 million in 2024—more than 500 percent increase. This staggering growth is spurring a wave of enhancements: a new baggage handling area, additional gates, upgraded security and restroom zones, and a crosswind runway anticipated to open in early 2026.
The “North Terminal Expansion” adds approximately 80,000 square feet of new space, including an expanded baggage claim with multiple carousels, redesigned vertical circulation linking the concourse to the TSA checkpoint, and more concessions and waiting areas. To date, the airport has secured a $10 million federal grant to help underwrite part of the expansion. In parallel, the airport is replacing aging boarding bridges and modernizing air-traffic and communications systems.

For Watersound Club Members—many of whom travel from major metropolitan centers—the impact is meaningful. More efficient baggage handling means fewer delays at peak times. Additional gates and extended operating capacity could lead to new direct route options to and from the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast. Indeed, the recently announced expanded nonstop, yearround flights starting November 2025 will benefit Gulf Coast communities.
Mike Kerrigan, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for The St. Joe Company, said the airport’s continued growth has been transformative for the region. “Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport

keeps elevating its service with more flights to more destinations than ever,” he says. “This expansion is really the result of years of tremendous growth. More people are discovering our area from more parts of the country than we’ve ever seen, and the airport has been a major facilitator of that discovery.”
He adds that ECP’s reach now extends far beyond what was once imaginable.
“With flights to seven of the ten largest metro areas in the country—including New York City—the airport has become a true gateway to Northwest Florida. It’s hard to believe how far it’s come since opening in 2010.”
As SR 79, the main thoroughfare connecting ECP to the area, continues to evolve, accessibility will only improve. For residents and prospective homeowners alike, that means more convenience, more connectivity, and more reasons to call the Watersound ® communities home.
While construction and phased transitions may cause some temporary inconveniences, the long-term payoff is clear. The upgraded ECP aligns beautifully with the future of Watersound ® communities: enhancing access without compromise and ensuring that paradise remains wonderfully within reach.
PLAN EXTRA TIME DURING CONSTRUCTION PHASES.
Though major improvements are underway, the airport remains fully operational— expect occasional path changes near baggage or security lanes.
CHECK FLIGHT SCHEDULES EARLY. New routes may launch once the expansion is completed, especially during winter 2025–26.
KNOW UPDATED FACILITIES. The new terminal layout includes remodeled bathrooms, more seating, larger baggage rooms, and multiple baggage carousels.
MONITOR UPDATES. Follow ECP’s official site and project page for realtime construction notices and opening dates.

The St. Joe Company is turbocharging community-friendly development along the revamped State Road 79 corridor
Written By PHIL BORCHMANN
The yearslong push to modernize the critical State Road 79 (SR79) corridor has come to fruition. The thoroughfare has been widened to four lanes, and new infrastructure—from sidewalks to sewers—is in place. Now all that’s needed are more community-essential projects to fill parcels lining the road.
And that is where The St. Joe Company is leading the way, with multiple developments that provide expanded health care, retail, and hospitality options. “We’re growing an ecosystem for the region with every part and component that any ecosystem would need, whether it’s a place to live, a place to work, a place to shop, a place to recreate or vacation,” says President and Chief Executive Officer Jorge Gonzalez.
The entire improvement effort dates back more than a dozen years and has been completed in phases, stretching from Interstate 10 to Panama City Beach, according to published reports. St. Joe’s efforts have focused on a four-mile stretch of the roadway north of Panama City Beach Parkway.
“The momentum along SR 79 is the result of a long-term vision, an intentional investment for The
St. Joe Company,” says Rhea Goff, a Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the company. “We don’t just develop land. We’re all about connecting people to place.”
St. Joe is partnering to create an 87acre Florida State University (FSU) Health medical campus at State Road 79 and Philip Griffitts Sr. Parkway, where an 80,000-square-foot medical office building has been constructed. “Health care is as important to quality of life in any community as anything else,” Gonzalez says.
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Physician Partners has offered primary- and urgent-care services since the facility opened in July 2024. Cardiology and pulmonary services, as well as a vascular clinic, have been added thus far. Coastal Tides Surgery Center, located on the fourth floor, provides procedures in its five operating rooms, and Emerald Coast OBGYN opened recently.
Also on the campus is the FSU Health acute-care hospital now under construction. The first phase of the hospital calls for 180 beds. When completed, it will combine the expertise

There has never been a full-service hospital on Panama City Beach, so that project is really going to impact not just the immediate area around the medical campus but the entire community and the surrounding area.”
— MIKE KERRIGAN, Vice President of Marketing and Communications
of FSU’s College of Medicine and the FSU research system.
“It will be a teaching hospital that will provide innovation not only to the clinicians and the researchers but, more importantly, to physicians and patients in this region,” Gonzalez says.
And it’s highly anticipated.
“There has never been a full-service hospital on Panama City Beach, so that project is really going to impact not just the immediate area around the medical campus but the entire community and the surrounding area,” says Mike Kerrigan, the company’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

Three distinctive neighborhoods in the Ward Creek community will fit a variety of lifestyles, housing types, and prices. “Each neighborhood has its own community amenity,” says Bridget Precise, company Senior Vice President of Residential Real Estate.
Bayside, located just north of the medical campus in Panama City Beach, offers a mix of townhouses and single-family homes. D.R. Horton continues to build the abodes on the roughly 355 homesites. It’s located near health care, schools, and shopping.
Salt Grass, north of the medical campus and across from Bayside, has 535 homesites. Built by Fischer Homes and Kolter Homes, the dwellings will offer a variety of styles and prices to meet buyer needs.
The gated Breakwater community is planned for 348 single-family, luxury homes built by national brand Toll Brothers. Buyers are able to select premium fixtures and finishes, if so desired.
Latitude Margaritaville Watersound is—as the name suggests—inspired by music legend Jimmy Buffett; it’s described as a place “where life rolls easy.”
St. Joe and Minto Communities USA have partnered to create the 55-plus retirement development that includes dining and entertainment in the Town Square, just a short golf cart-ride away.
The first phase calls for 3,500 homes, with more than 2,000 already completed and sold.

This corridor is more than just a stretch of road. It’s a living example of how people, places, and purpose come together to create a connected ecosystem.”
— RHEA GOFF, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

ar left) Ward Creek (left) Latitude Margaritaville, and (above) Breakwater at Ward Creek are beautiful examples of the interconnected SR 79 corridor community.
Where West Bay meets the Intracoastal Waterway, construction of Point South Marina at West Bay has commenced. “We think that at total build-out, we’ll be able to house somewhere between 600 and 700 boats that will be predominantly in a barn storage, but we plan to have wet slips there as well,” says Patrick Murphy, the company Senior Vice President of Hospitality. The location allows easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway and through to the Gulf.
One commercial development along SR 79 is St. Joe’s Watersound West Bay Center at the entrance to the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community. “We have the ability to do about 500,000 square feet of commercial space there that will encompass not only retail but office and food and beverage components,” says William Brock, company Vice President of Commercial Real Estate. One on the books is Publix, which is currently under development and will anchor the center.
Another key component of the SR 79 momentum is Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport, which now delivers nearly 2 million passengers to the region—an increase of more than 500 percent from its first year in 2010. “[The airport] has experienced tremendous growth as travelers come in through that airport. Most of them are going to come down State Road 79 to either head west to Walton County or head east to Panama City,” Gonzales says.
“This corridor is more than just a stretch of road. It’s a living example of how people, places, and purpose come together to create a connected ecosystem,” says Goff.

How Watersound Club® Members are shaping a more sustainable future—one simple choice at a time
HAVE YOU EVER WISH-CYCLED? Perhaps you finish a milk carton and think, “This is paper—surely it’s recyclable.” You rinse it, drop it in the bin, and hope for the best. Wish-cycling—placing questionable items into recycling in hopes they belong there—happens everywhere. Yet the impulse reveals something meaningful: People genuinely want to make responsible choices.
At the Club, that instinct has helped inspire a broader cultural shift. Sustainability is becoming a shared mindset—rooted in Member enthusiasm, daily habits, and a collective pride in caring for the coastal environment they call home.
“What I noticed several years back, especially during our really active holidays, is that right beside the trash cans there were these large stacks of cups,” says Watersound Club ®

Managing Director Vicki Burris. “It was a hint that Members didn’t really feel right tossing those into the trash.”
She is referring to the familiar Frost-Flex Watersound logo cups—practical, durable, and fun to collect. Many Members save them for parties or everyday use, but the stacks signaled something larger: the community was ready to approach waste more thoughtfully.
Conversations about sustainability across the Club reflect values long embraced by The St. Joe Company, where environmental stewardship, such as restoring ecosystems, planting longleaf pines, and protecting natural habitats, guides development decisions. Each small choice Members make supports that broader legacy.
Members recognize this connection. In a recent sustainability survey, many expressed appreciation for current efforts and encouraged further steps across the Beach Club, Camp Creek® amenities, and Shark’s Tooth. “We are a beautiful beach community and have a responsibility to practice the best sustainability programs,” one Member wrote. Others praised refill stations, noting they would welcome even more. Several mentioned they routinely pick up littered straws and cups during beach walks.
The message was clear: Members want to participate in shaping a greener future.
The Watersound cups quickly became symbols of shared commitment. Instead of treating them as disposable, Members found creative ways to extend their life. Some donated stacks to schools and nonprofits. Others washed and passed them to young

adults moving into new homes. Families repurposed them for gardening, kids’ art projects, or community gatherings.
One Member who plays golf several times a week carries her own reusable Yeti to cut down on plastic use. Another collects discarded bottles from the course and donates them to a local garden shop for planting drainage. Others sort cardboard, plastic, and aluminum for local school recycling bins, and one transports glass back to Georgia to ensure it is recycled properly.
These small, Member-led habits demonstrate that sustainability thrives when it grows naturally from within the community.
EASY AS 1-2-3 TO MAKE AN IMPACT CHOOSE REUSABLE CONTAINERS. Refill at The Mill House, Shark’s Tooth Tennis Center, Camp Creek Inn, or the Wellness Center.
REUSE OR DONATE CUPS. Share Club cups with schools, neighbors, or new homeowners.
SKIP THE STRAW. Choosing not to use one reduces unnecessary waste.

Among the most appreciated additions have been water refill stations—an idea strongly supported in the Member survey. The first station was installed at The Mill House, where it was immediately embraced. A second station followed at the Shark’s Tooth Tennis Center, along with stations at Camp Creek Inn and the Wellness Center.
Hydration is essential in Florida’s climate, and refill stations provide a convenient alternative to single-use bottles. Members bring insulated tumblers to the course, courts, and pool; children refill between matches; visitors adopt the habit after seeing it in use.
One Member who spends much of the year at the beach said, “I would welcome more refillable water stations. I’m always picking up littered straws and cups from the sand.”
The shift is evident: Refill culture is becoming part of life as a Watersound Club Member.
While Walton County does not currently offer streamlined recycling pickup, the Club continues testing sustainable alternatives, such as agave-based straws, bamboo banquet products, and paper takeout containers. But the most important progress is philosophical. Sustainability is becoming a shared identity—shaped by optimism, awareness, and meaningful daily choices.
“Members are rethinking habits, choosing reusable containers, passing cups along, and modeling stewardship for younger generations,” Burris says. “Small actions, practiced consistently, shape long-term impact.”
Together, Watersound Club Members are building a future defined by connection—to the land, to each other, and to the simple decisions that protect this remarkable stretch of coastline. One refill, one reused cup, and one thoughtful choice at a time, the Club is shaping a culture of sustainability that continues to grow.

I really kind of fell in love with it; it was much nicer than I thought or knew. My parents wanted to be near the beach, and I ended up buying a house.”

A
pro baseball player finally eases into home ownership at the Watersound Camp Creek® Community
Written By PHIL BORCHMANN
For most of Adam Frazier’s adulthood, he’s led a nomadic way of life that he felt wasn’t conducive to home ownership. Not surprising, given Frazier is a Major League Baseball player who spends roughly half a year in his team’s city, as well as multiple days and nights on the road during the season.
“I’ve been all over the place, so I’ll just rent a place for like six months,” the 5-foot, 10-inch left-handed batter and right-handed thrower says. “That usually works out much easier than buying and selling [for a team change].”
Then something changed when his parents and biggest supporters, Tim and Danielle Frazier, eyed retirement a few years ago. He had visited the 30A area about that time—and was sold.
“I really kind of fell in love with it; it was much nicer than I thought or knew,” says Frazier, 34. “My parents wanted to be near the beach, and I ended up buying a house.”
Next thing he knew, thoughts of owning a home of his own near his parents and where he could spend the offseason, seemed mighty enticing. It was then that Frazier became familiar with the Watersound Camp Creek® Community and all the membership benefits home ownership offers.

WITH 67 CAREER home runs on the books, MLB veteran Adam Frazier has now added the Watersound Club® lifestyle to his win column.
You have great beaches close by if you want a little beach-bar vibe; whatever vibe you want, you have available within a 10-minute ride or so. There’s the nightlife or food or entertainment that you appreciate, and it seems kind of laidback, very laid-back, which I enjoy.”
— ADAM FRAZIER, Major League Baseball Player
Frazier was a standout second baseman at Oconee High School in Watkinsville, Georgia, a suburb of Athens. He later starred as a record-setting player at Mississippi State University in Starkville.
The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Frazier in 2015 for its Minor League operation, until his pro-level performance landed him in the Big Show in 2016. Over the years, he has also played with the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, and most recently the Kansas City Royals. The one-time All Star and Gold Glove finalist is now a free agent.
The whole time, Frazier rented for the months in the team’s cities and in Nashville, his home for 10 years. Now, he’s ready for a changeup.
After learning about and exploring the community in South Walton, he decided to build a place as an offseason retreat. The amenities and lifestyle checked all his boxes. Baseball is his “day job,” so to speak, but he plays many other sports. “The Camp Creek® amenities include golf at Shark’s Tooth and The Third,” says Frazier, who has a 7 handicap. “I play it all—pickleball, tennis, I enjoy all
of that. So, that makes it great to meet new people, ages young or old.”
When it’s time to wind down, he says he’ll welcome the privileges the Watersound Club® amenities provide, as well as the Panama City Beach area.
“You have great beaches close by if you want a little beach-bar vibe; whatever vibe you want, you have available within a 10-minute ride or so,” he says. “There’s the nightlife or food or entertainment that you appreciate, and it seems kind of laid-back, very laidback, which I enjoy.”
Frazier’s future home, about a mile away from his parents’ community, is still under construction, but he looks forward to the day he can step inside and call it his own.
He describes it as a five-bedroom, 5,400-square-foot abode with a pool and hot tub. Outside, he’s leaning toward mimicking the exterior cladding he noticed on the house of another celebrity. “Gene Simmons [of Kiss] remodeled his home in L.A., and it’s got this cool oak wood look to it [on the outside].”
And when it’s done, he’ll welcome plenty of guests who will also see what Watersound Club® Membership has to offer.
“I want my friends and loved ones to be able to come and enjoy it with me,” he says. “I’m excited about that.”

Watersound Club® women across every department are inspiring a culture of confidence, connection, and community that elevates every guest experience
Written By ZANDRA WOLFGRAM
Within the Watersound Club® family, leadership is not defined by hierarchy or tenure; it is defined by presence. Whether welcoming Members at Camp Creek® Inn, orchestrating unforgettable moments at Shark’s Tooth, or curating the perfect coastal day at the Beach Club, women across the organization shape the culture of excellence Members feel the moment they arrive.
“It really starts with support,” says Jean Capps, General Manager of Camp Creek Inn and a 25-year hospitality veteran who has opened multiple hotels for The St. Joe Company. “When the women on our team feel empowered, the sky’s the limit. That confidence shows in everything they do—the creativity, the collaboration, the way they make each experience seamless and memorable.”
Capps oversees a team of dynamic professionals—Alexa Guarachi Bruner (Director of Racquets), Stephanie Avila (Director of Restaurants), Kelly Galloway (Director of Sales), Mackenzie Martin (Food and Beverage Manager), Laura Franklin (TLC Generalist), Nicole Uribe (Lodging Manager), and Sandra Guy (Wellness Manager)—each bringing energy, precision, and heart to her work. “They all lead differently,” Capps adds, “but what unites them is empathy. They genuinely care about the people they serve and the people they lead.”

Lacey Stewart and McKenna Lawson

For Capps, leadership is rooted in consistency and kindness. “It’s about making eye contact, smiling, creating an open environment where people can speak up,” she says. “You don’t have to know all the answers; you just need to be willing to find them together.”
Her team’s collective spirit shows in the smallest details: knowing a Member’s favorite table, anticipating seasonal touches, and infusing thoughtfulness into every stay. One moment perfectly illustrates that mindset. When a young guest at Camp Creek Inn lost a tooth while on vacation, a team member crafted a “Tooth Fairy” gift bag with a handwritten note waiting on her pillow. The mother’s thank-you note the next morning described how deeply moved she was by the gesture.
“That’s what leadership looks like,” Capps says. “Not policy. People.”

That same spirit of connection is felt across Watersound Club’s Membership, Events, and Communications team, led by Vicki Burris, Managing Director, Watersound Club. Burris, who has been with The St. Joe Company for five-and-a-half years, works closely with a dynamic group of women who play a vital role in shaping the Member experience: Hollie Parker (Director of Membership Sales), Betsy Grinstead (Membership Sales and Relations Manager), Cameron Fish (Events Manager), Avery Burks (Communications Coordinator), and Weslyn Brown (Wedding Sales Manager).
“Working with such a great team who understands the ins and outs of what we do is something I look forward to on a daily basis,” Burris says.
To Burris, their leadership shines through collaboration, honesty, humor, and a shared desire to improve every day. “They’re not afraid to try new things. They’re supportive— and there’s lots of laughter—while keeping the focus on the Member experience at the forefront of everything we do.”
Burris also credits Ansley Elledge, Marketing Manager, for her meticulous approach to brand stewardship. “She keeps everyone in line with regard to branding standards in order to portray the Club at its best at all times,” Burris notes. “Her consistency strengthens every message we send.”

Across the fairways of Shark’s Tooth, General Manager Patrick Kralik sees that same spirit of collaboration at work. “The women on my team bring a softer touch and an incredible eye for detail,” he says. “They balance precision with empathy, and that makes all the difference in hospitality.”
Kralik credits both his supervisor, Vicki Burris, and Laney Wetter, the Food and Beverage Supervisor, for shaping his leadership style. “My boss is amazing—thoughtful, accessible, and always willing to listen,” he says. “Laney and I collaborate constantly. I value her insight because she sees things differently than I do. That diversity of thought leads to better decisions and better Member experiences.”
He adds that the evolving gender balance in Club management has transformed club culture itself. “Country clubs used to feel like a boys’ club,” Kralik says. “Now we’re focusing on everyone—men, women, and families. That shift is exciting to see, and the women on our team are driving it forward.”
Overlooking the Gulf’s turquoise horizon, Beach Club General Manager Lucas Sneddon describes a team that blends expertise, creativity, and heart.
“The Beach Club is a food-and-beverage-driven operation,” Sneddon explains. “My background is in hotel operations, so I rely heavily on the incredible women who run the show here.”
His leadership team—Cori Wheaton (Club Manager), Jules Theamsuwan (Executive Chef), and Tatiya Sukkhojai (Food and Beverage Manager)—drives the daily experience. “They lead by example,” Sneddon says. “They’re present with their teams, coaching, training, and teaching every day. You can’t manage a team from behind a desk at a property like this.”
He views empowerment as central to effective leadership. “My job isn’t to give them all the answers; it’s to coach them to find their own,” he says. “Their creativity blows me away, and my role is to support it, not limit it.
“Our leadership group is predominantly female, and I love that,” Sneddon adds. “They bring a thoughtful, detailed, and balanced approach. They make the biggest impact on what we do here.”
Wellness Center Manager Sandra Guy, who has led her department since February 2022, oversees a dynamic team dedicated to empowering Members to live healthier, more active lives. Full-time team members Supervisor Hannah DeNardo along with Fitness Specialists Gabrielle Lang and Lacey Stewart bring considerable expertise in fitness, movement, and Member engagement. They are supported by a robust network of more than a dozen yoga professionals, Pilates instructors, group fitness instructors, dance professionals, massage therapists, and other specialists.
“The women of Wellness bring a powerful combination of expertise, creativity, and dedication to every aspect of a healthy and active lifestyle,” Guy says. “They are strong communicators, strategic thinkers, and natural collaborators who consistently elevate team performance. Each one demonstrates initiative, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement, meaningfully contributing to both teammates and Watersound Club Members.”

Watersound Club leadership isn’t defined by titles but by empowerment.
“Inviting different ideas and celebrating success as a team,” says Capps, “creates momentum that lifts everyone.”
Kralik calls the shift “transformational.”
Sneddon describes it as “impactful.”
“The women here make the biggest impact in everything we do,” Sneddon adds. “They’re setting a new standard for what leadership looks like—collaborative, confident, and compassionate.”
That spirit—what Capps calls pure “energy”—hums through every property, shaping experiences and connecting people. It is the rhythm that turns a workplace into a community, a stay into a memory, and a team into something far greater than the sum of its parts. And that, perhaps, is the most powerful of all forms of leadership.
The women here make the biggest impact in everything we do. They’re setting a new standard for what leadership looks like— collaborative, confident, and compassionate.”

Get a (good) grip!
Written By BEN BLALOCK
In the game of golf, there are almost too many variables to keep up with—everything from distance, direction, lie, slope, wind, weather, and … the bet— that take up space in your mind.
If you’re trying to improve your game and simplify what’s going on inside your head, you know what a challenge that can be.
If there’s one thing I examine with every one of my students during lessons, it’s the grip.

This is the golfer’s only connection to the club itself, and how the hands are placed is often the root cause of the problem.
Most players know there’s a triedand-true way to place the hands. Do you take it for granted, though? Do you have a way to check things before you make your swing so that you have the best possible chance to pull off the shot you’re attempting? Do you make any conscious changes to your grip in different scenarios? For instance, for a “bump and run” shot or a “pitch” shot, are you using the same grip you would use for your driver?
We need to recognize the fact that the grip heavily affects the way we
swing. You may be struggling to make the changes you want to make in your swing because of your grip.
Just watch Scottie Scheffler sometime before he plays a shot—he spends a lot of time setting up his grip before he approaches the ball, and he’s No. 1 in the world.
The moral of the story here is that the grip deserves more of your attention than you may be giving it. Please, at the very least, start giving it a second look, and be sure about things before you make another swing. If you have questions or would like personalized guidance on this or any topic relating to golf technique, please let me know. I’m here to help.

The reality you need to know to become a more effective and confident doubles player
Written By WOJTEK BRATEK
Doubles tennis is often seen as a game of instincts and chemistry—two players moving in sync, anticipating plays, and covering the court as one. But much of what players are taught about doubles positioning and movement is based on outdated or oversimplified ideas. Let’s debunk three of the most common myths that can actually hurt your team’s performance.

At first glance, this seems like sound advice— move with the ball, stay active, stay involved. But at the net, “following the ball” can be a recipe for inactivity. When the net player tracks the ball too literally, they often drift too far toward the sideline, overprotecting the alley and leaving the middle wide open. The middle is not only your partner’s biggest defensive target but also your best opportunity to intercept and poach. By staying balanced and reading your partner’s shot—rather than simply following the ball—you’ll cover more meaningful space, pressure your opponents, and create far more chances to finish points.
You’ve probably heard it said: Once you’re at the net, never look back. But awareness is everything. If the ball passes you or your partner is pulled wide, it’s crucial to at least glance back and gauge what’s happening behind you. Why? Because your positioning should adjust based on your partner’s situation. If your partner is in trouble or stretched off the court, your job is to protect the middle. If they’re setting up for a strong shot, you can prepare to attack. Looking back doesn’t make you less aggressive—it makes you smarter and more connected as a team.
A well-placed lob can change the tempo of a point, but it’s not your cue to sprint forward blindly. Too often, the net player charges in—only to watch the opponent’s reply sail right over their head while yelling that dreaded word: “Yours!” The better play? Hold your position around the service line. This gives you the flexibility to hit an overhead if the ball comes short or retreat if the opponents counter with another lob. Patience and positioning beat reckless enthusiasm every time.
Great doubles play isn’t about speed or hustle alone—it’s about awareness, geometry, and teamwork. When you stop following myths and start understanding positioning, communication, and court balance, you’ll instantly become a more effective and confident doubles player.
