Welcome to St Hilda’s School

As the 12th Principal of St Hilda’s School, I am delighted to extend a heartfelt welcome to our school community, consisting of dedicated staff, students, and families. With a legacy spanning over 115 years, St Hilda’s takes pride in its tradition of empowering young women.

At St Hilda’s, we embrace our Anglican traditions as a guiding influence, shaping a community that thrives in our dynamic, interconnected world.

Pre-Preparatory to Year 6

From Pre-Preparatory to Year 6, our focus is on nurturing the development of the whole child, encouraging and guiding each student to achieve their personal best in an inclusive, engaging and supportive learning environment.

Our approach to educating the students in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) involves students learning Technologies skills and knowledge explicitly and engaging in project work with a crosscurricular focus.

Middle School Years 7-9

Empowering Learners Through Holistic Foundations

Our holistic approach is grounded in leading research and the unique needs of girls’ education. The journey in Years 7-9 equips students with the confidence, compassion and capability to become inspiring young women who will shape and serve the world.

Our tailored enrichment programs, designed for each year group, extend learning beyond the classroom. Through a wide range of bespoke activities, students are challenged to think critically and creatively, make real-world connections, and develop the individual skills and talents that nurture both personal growth and academic excellence.

Senior School Years 10-12

Pathways to Success, Purpose and Post-School Readiness

With our dedicated and experienced teachers, every student will receive the support and guidance they need to succeed in our challenging and stimulating curriculum with over 25 subjects to choose from.

At St Hilda’s, the senior years (Years 10–12) empower students to take increasing ownership of their own learning journey. Most seniors achieve an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) — an internationally recognised university entry score. Many also complete university subjects or nationally accredited courses during their senior years.

Our curriculum combines academic rigour with flexibility, offering clear pathways to future ambitions, whether university or other pursuits beyond school.

BOARDING A Home Away from Home

Our architecturally designed, newly refurbished boarding facilities provide a safe, modern and welcoming home for more than 180 boarders, right in the heart of our campus. Designed with girls in mind, these spaces balance comfort, community, and independence.

Boarding is a time of growth and connection. At St Hilda’s School, we partner closely with families to create a supportive environment where every girl feels she belongs. With caring and experienced staff living onsite, boarders are guided, supported and inspired by positive role models. Academic success is supported through our prep program, while our wellbeing program encourages balance, health, and resilience.

Girls enjoy a wide range of activities, from beachside recreation to community service and benefit from tailored opportunities that nurture their talents and interests.

Athletic Endeavour

St Hilda’s School has a strong record of sporting achievement which has developed distinguished sportswomen and spirited sense of competition at all levels.

At St Hilda’s, we honour our commitment to a balanced education by offering an exceptional breadth of sporting opportunities, both competitive and non-competitive, to suit every girl’s interests and abilities. Our students are encouraged to explore the sports they love, with pathways of support that grow as their passion and participation deepen.

St Hilda’s School provides an extensive array of Inter-School, Club and Co-Curricular sporting opportunities for Junior and Secondary students and esteemed, qualified coaches. In the Junior years, students participate in the Andrews Cup Association, where our school has a rich history of involvement, contribution and success.

Our Sports program, which encompasses quality coaching, excellent facilities and key affiliations, is enhanced by St Hilda’s School’s membership in the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) and the Andrews Cup - making us the only school on the Gold Coast to hold such a distinction. The aims of these programs is to provide opportunities for young women to meet life’s challenges through quality sporting opportunities and social interaction. St Hilda’s students also actively participate in the annual Brisbane Schoolgirls’ Rowing Association (BSRA) regatta season.

The Arts

The Arts are a vibrant and inspiring part of life at St Hilda’s, nurturing creativity, confidence and self-expression in every girl. Across Music, Visual Art, Drama, Media Arts and Dance students explore their talents, think imaginatively and develop the courage to perform and create with purpose.

Our Music program offers choirs, bands and ensembles that encourage teamwork, discipline and personal growth.

Renowned for excellence, our Drama and Performing Arts programs build confidence and cultural understanding, with industry-level experiences showcased in productions such as Shrek, Matilda and Aladdin.

In Visual Art, Media Arts and Film & TV, students develop design thinking and visual communication skills that open pathways into a vast array of creative and innovative industry pathways. Many students achieve high recognition, with selected works exhibited at state galleries such as Queensland’s Gallery of Modern Art and the Reels Film Showcase.

Upholding our strong tradition in all-girls’ education, we remain committed to supporting each student’s growth across academic, sporting, cultural, service and leadership pursuits. Our facilities continue to evolve through strategic investment, including planned upgrades to the Athena Sports Precinct and recent enhancements to the High Performance Gym.

Our new Aquatics Precinct features a new FINA-certified pool and facilities that prioritise student health and wellbeing, with a mezzanine space for allied health professionals and new wellbeing studios. St Hilda’s School is committed to expanding sporting and specialist learning facilities to meet the needs of a diverse and future-focused curriculum.

Pathways Through Scholarships

St Hilda’s School and St Hilda’s Foundation are dedicated to fostering the talents of individual students, and to achieve this goal, we offer a limited number of Scholarships and Bursaries.

A generous international network of women awaits to support her throughout all the steps of her journey. St Hilda’s School celebrates the achievements of our alumnae and recognises the importance of ongoing support beyond schooling.

The St Hilda’s Old Girls’ Association (OGA) connects past and present students, fosters social interaction and maintains a strong interest in the life and progress of the school.
