Our Story Boarding has been at the heart of St Hilda’s since 1912, when the Brisbane Diocese purchased Goyte-Lea and welcomed the first boarders into what quickly became a home away from home. From the very beginning, families entrusted their daughters to us, confident they would be nurtured, challenged and supported as they pursued opportunities not otherwise available to them. For more than a century, families from rural, regional and remote communities choose St Hilda’s because boarding is so much more than a place to live. It is a place where girls find a second home, build lifelong friendships and become part of a sisterhood where they are known, valued and supported every day. Through times of war, drought and social change, our Boarding House has remained a place of stability and care, ensuring every girl has the chance to learn, grow and thrive. Our established heritage Boarding House has grown into a newly renovated, vibrant residence where tradition blends seamlessly with innovation. While our facilities have evolved, boarding has remained at the heart of St Hilda’s, continuing to be defined by care, connection and community. Today, generations of boarders carry with them lifelong friendships, independence and the values of resilience, service and character that remain at the centre of the St Hilda’s experience. As parents, you can be assured that your daughter will not only be well cared for, but will also be part of a legacy of young women who have lived, learned and laughed together for more than 115 years.

Our Home St Hilda’s School is home to more than 180 boarders from regional and remote parts of Australia (82%) and overseas (11%). This unique diversity fosters deep friendships, empathy and a global outlook that lasts well beyond school years. Set on 14 hectare, tree-lined campus and only a few kilometres from Gold Coast’s stunning attractions, St Hilda’s School offers a dynamic blend of tradition and innovation, with diverse co-curricular options and worldclass facilities. Our newly renovated boarding facilities combine the comforts of home with the convenience of modern design. There is air conditioning throughout, private spaces, welcoming kitchens and spacious common areas that encourage relaxation and connection at the end of each school day.
From Year 5 to Year 12, our houses provide age-appropriate care and independence at every stage: McCulloch House (Years 5–7) - an inclusive, nurturing environment with qualified and creative supervisors who wholistically care for our youngest boarders. Whitby House (Years 8–9) - a lively home for early adolescents, supported by experienced staff providing positive guidance throughout this stage of development. Darragh House (Years 10–12) - three floors dedicated to senior boarders, fostering independence, leadership and preparation for life beyond School. Boarders also enjoy our outstanding campus facilities: our new Aquatics Precinct, featuring an Olympic certified pool and facilities that prioritise student health and wellbeing, tennis and netball courts, sports ovals, two sports complexes, gymnastic facilities, yarning circle and tree-lined spaces. Our boarders’ quad sits amongst the houses, allowing for moments of fun and relaxation during downtime, with a pool table, basketball hoop, table tennis, games area and other sports equipment for the girls to enjoy.

Our Community Adolescence is a time of growth, challenge and discovery. At St Hilda’s School, we believe that strong partnerships between staff and parents are key to helping boarders thrive. A genuine sense of belonging has a profound impact on each girl’s enjoyment, engagement and personal development. From the moment families arrive on campus, our focus is on care, connection and community. With a seamless pastoral structure across both day and boarding, our dedicated staff work together to support boarders in every aspect of their journey. • Head of Boarding – works closely with the Heads of Sub-Schools to shape strategic decisions that enrich every boarder’s experience. • Heads of Junior and Senior Boarding – provide daily pastoral care for girls and families, guiding them through opportunities and challenges of life away from home. • Residential Tutors – support study sessions, helping with home learning, organisation and assessment preparation. • Boarding Supervisors – offer nurturing, day-to-day care, supporting routines and wellbeing much like a parent or carer. • Registered Nurses and Psychologists – provide professional care during times of illness, challenge, or change and support smooth transitions into boarding life. • Connection and Activities Coordinator – partners with Year 12 leaders to deliver a vibrant program that keeps boarders fit, social, mindful and engaged. • Local Specialists – boarders have easy access to orthodontists, physiotherapists, GPs, hospitals, pharmacies, fracture clinics, fitness centres and wellness practitioners, ensuring comprehensive support close to campus. • Catering Team – collaborate with staff and students to create nutritious, memorable meals that cater to diverse needs. • Boarder Parents Support Group - enhances daily life by supporting and funding some of the activities and equipment for our girls to enjoy. Together, our School community creates a safe, supportive and inspiring environment where girls flourish, academically, socially and personally.

Our World of Opportunities At St Hilda’s, we honour our commitment to a balanced education by offering an exceptional breadth of opportunities to suit every girl’s interests and abilities. Our students are supported and encouraged to explore the activities that they love, deepening their passion and participation.
Our Sport St Hilda’s School has a strong record of sporting achievement which has developed distinguished sportswomen and a spirited sense of competition at all levels. We provide an extensive array of inter-school, club and co-curricular sporting opportunities and esteemed, qualified coaches for junior and secondary students. Our Sports program, which encompasses quality coaching, excellent facilities and key affiliations, is enhanced by St Hilda’s School’s membership in the Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) and Andrews Cup - making us the only school on the Gold Coast to hold such a distinction. The aim of these programs is to provide opportunities for young women to meet life’s challenges through quality sporting opportunities and social interaction. St Hilda’s students also actively participate in the annual Brisbane Schoolgirls’ Rowing Association (BSRA) regatta season.
Our Arts The Arts are a vibrant part of life at St Hilda’s, nurturing creativity, confidence and selfexpression in every girl. Through the St Hilda’s Arts program, students explore their talents, think imaginatively and develop the confidence to create and perform with purpose. Our Music program offers choirs, bands and ensembles that foster teamwork, discipline and personal growth, while our acclaimed Drama and Performing Arts programs provide industrylevel experiences through musical productions such as Shrek, Matilda and Aladdin. In Visual Art, Media Arts and Film & TV, students develop creative thinking and visual communication skills, with many achieving recognition through exhibitions at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art and the Reels Film Showcase.
