Introduction
St Hilda's College is committed to providing a transformational educational experience for our students. With many of our students coming from outside of Melbourne, we know that establishing industry connections during your studies can be a daunting proposition.
Northrop Consulting Engineers have joined us to create our Industry Cooperative Scholarship Program. This program aims to not only provide you with much-needed financial support, but to give you a head start in your professional life by connecting you with top industry mentors, internships and development experiences.
Launching for the first time in 2024, the St Hilda's College Industry Cooperative Scholarship Program is part of our wider commitment to diversity in leadership and access to education.
Total value of $60k over three years!
Industry partners in this program are carefully chosen to ensure that they align with our values and with the career aspirations of our student cohort.

St Hilda's College and Northrop, supporting women in STEM
Northrop Consulting Engineers is a leading Australian consulting engineering firm. As the flagship partnership in our Industry Cooperative Scholarship program, St Hilda's College and Northrop have established a collaborative internship and scholarship program that will focus on women in STEM.
Worth $60k across the three years' of your time here at St Hilda's, this offering will see you receive financial assistance for your residential fees and three paid summer internships with Northrop to complement your undergraduate studies.
This is an incredible opportunity if you are planning a career in Engineering (Civil/Construction) or Architecture.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this program, you will be:
A female-identifying student
An incoming undergraduate student in Science or Design at the University of Melbourne with a planned major in engineering (civil or construction) or architecture OR an incoming undergraduate student in Engineering at RMIT (civil/construction focus)
Commiting to three (3) years of residency at St Hilda’s College
Eligible students who are interested in this program will be required to submit an application. Applications will be evaluated for shortlisting by St Hilda’s College.
Shortlisted applicants will then be interviewed by Northrop. Northrop will determine who the successful candidate is for the program once they have completed their interview processes.
Value
This program will see you receive $20k of financial support across each of the three years you are at St Hilda's College.
This $20k support each year consists of:
$10k tax-free residential scholarship
$10k paid internship
$20k per year
Plus, for no extra cost, you will be able to stay at College over the Summer break each year while you are completing your internship.

Shortlisting for our Industry Cooperative Scholarships Programs will happen using the same process that we use for awarding our Academic Excellence and Leadership Scholarships. Once you apply for St Hilda’s, you will have the option to select this scholarship program and we will then send you further information.
Scholarships at St Hilda’s are awarded following a panel-based decision-making process that considers academic results and other attributes that reflect the values of our College.

Personal & Professional Development
To ensure that you have the best opportunity to succeed in your internship, this program includes ongoing personal and professional development.
While residing at St Hilda's College, you will participate in our full leadership and development program to ensure that you go into each of your Summer internships feeling confident and ready to play an active part in a professional setting.
Your leadership and development program will include:
Individualised coaching under the Clifton Strengths Framework (or similar)
A dedicated academic/industry mentor to support you in your development
Training and workshops in Time/energy management
Design thinking
Goal setting
Ethical decision making
Communication and public speaking
Adaptive leadership
You will participate in this program in Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each year under the guidance of St Hilda’s College staff, academic fellows and various alumni.
