Our New City Campus 2025 and Beyond 441 Murray Street
The City is our Campus St George’s Anglican Grammar School established itself in the heart of the City of Perth in 2015. It remains Perth’s only vertical school and actively promotes using the city as part of its campus. With a growing demand for student places and the goal of expanding the diversity of the courses on offer to St George’s students, the Anglican Schools Commission began the search for a new and permanent home for the School while remaining in the city.
Introducing 441 Murray Street 441 Murray Street was purchased by the Anglican Schools Commission and is located only 700m away from our current site at 50 William Street. This year it has already been used as our Examination Centre by students in Years 10 – 12. This one-time office block will become the new permanent single campus home for St George’s Anglican Grammar School from the start of the 2030 academic school year. The building will also house the Head Offices of the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC), ASC International and the ASC Language School. 441 Murray Street will harness the best in new and innovative designs for vertical schools with Hassell Architects working to develop an exciting learning environment for staff and students alike. Outdoor areas will be integral to the final design.
Stage 1 - Transition Construction of Stage 1 of the 441 Murray Street development will commence in 2023, allowing the School to begin using 441 Murray Street from 2025 as an additional campus and exciting new teaching space. The move to 441 Murray Street will ensure that the School is able to meet our community’s expectations while still maintaining all that we currently love about St George’s. The vibrant red blazers of our students, so distinctively visible in and around the city, will be matched by a red ribbon staircase that will transverse the building at 441 Murray Street. The staircase will allow for easier circulation of students between floors and, with the eventual addition of a large class size lift, the transition between floors will be a breeze. Plans for the building include specialist areas to allow for the teaching of new courses such as Food Technologies, Woodwork and Mechatronics as well as the provision of exciting performance spaces to enhance our already much-loved music, dance, and drama programs.
Stage 2 - Master Plan By 2030 all students and staff will be located at the modern state-of-the-art facilities at 441 Murray Street St George’s new permanent home in the heart of the city. The architecturally designed building will accommodate four streams of classes across Years 7 to 12. It will enable the School to augment its programming and keep pace with current learning trends and student needs. The final Master Plan for 441 Murray Street includes additional floors, which will have several outdoor spaces and courtyards as well as boasting glass styled classrooms, a variety of spill-out learning areas, a huge library and resource centre. It will also feature university style science laboratories, a full-sized indoor basketball court and gymnasium, a visual arts and design floor, allocated drop off and pick up zones, bicycle parking, a rooftop terrace and fitness centre and so much more.
