High School Athletics Program | St. George’s School of Montreal

A Message from our Athletics & Recreation Coordinator

Dear St. George’s Families, As another incredible academic year comes to a close, we are thrilled to look back on the highlights and achievements of our Dragons athletics program. It has been an exciting year at St. George’s. We remain deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our community which fuels our students’ passion and success. When reflecting on what our program has accomplished over this past athletics season, the word that continuously comes to mind is growth. This year, we achieved record-breaking numbers across the board that supported more student-athletes, fielded more teams, and engaged more coaches than ever before. We competed in more games and tournaments than in any previous year, heavily invested in the professional development of our staff, and brought world-class expertise right to our doorstep. It has been a phenomenal year, and we are already looking forward to the year ahead.

Championship Success & Individual Accolades Team Championships The Juvenile Boys basketball team showed what they were made of at the Classique Stéphanie Gravel Tournament. After dropping a game in the round robin, they bounced back with a wild run all the way to the finals. Playing the championship game with only five players on the floor for the entire match, they dug deep and pulled off a huge win against the host team. Our Cadet Girls basketball team dominated the Séminaire Saint-François tournament in Quebec City, going undefeated from start to finish to bring home the banner.

Highlight Events

The NBA Basketball Trip to Toronto Another major highlight this year was our trip to Toronto where 40 of our athletes and staff headed down for an unforgettable weekend. The main event was catching a live Toronto Raptors game, but we also made sure to hit all the iconic spots from checking out the view at the CN Tower and shopping at the Eaton Centre to eating our way through the St. Lawrence Market. Complete with a Super Bowl viewing party, it was the perfect weekend of sports and team bonding!

4th Annual Athletics Ceremony On May 26th, we held our 4th Annual Athletics Ceremony. This year’s event was meaningfully co-hosted by graduates from our first-ever Grade 12 Pre-University program. The evening began with a lively social hour, allowing students and parents to reconnect and reflect on the season’s accomplishments, and culminated in the presentation of our major awards. Congratulations to all of our award winners!

High School Athletics Program | St. George’s School of Montreal

Welcoming Taymon Alexander Last year, we were thrilled to welcome Taymon Alexander to our team as the Student Life & Recreation Supervisor. With his leadership and energy, we successfully expanded our offerings to create active and inclusive experiences for our students beyond traditional competitive sports. Our inaugural recreation lineup was a hit, providing students with ways to stay active and engaged: Daily activities: Student-led lunch walks, cornhole competitions, Q-tip and Futsal intramurals, introduction to fitness centre training, foosball tournament Outings: After-school adventures including trips to Laser Quest, miniputt, and bowling.

Building Success for 2026-2027 Here is what we can look forward to next year: Monthly After-School Outings: We will be planning one exciting off-campus recreational trip per month. Season-Long Intramurals: We are kick-starting consistent, season-long intramural leagues featuring a rotating lineup of sports including but not limited to deck hockey, Q-tip, lacrosse, futsal, and basketball. If anyone has any recommendations for fun activities or school CCAs and clubs, please feel free to reach out to Taymon (taymon.alexander@stgeorges.qc.ca).
