Driven by their personal motto, "Determination equals success and drive," they operate their independent contractor business, Alchemy Trucking.
Most people dream of being their own boss, but Julian Gonzalez just proved what happens when you actually have the courage to make it happen.
If you asked Mario McDaniel back in 2021 what his career would look like today, he would have told you about his excitement to see the country. He might not have guessed just how many other lives he would completely transform along the way.
In addition to completing eight leases over a sixteen-year career on the road, Jimmie and Ann have also achieved the legendary milestone of over three million safe team miles each. Their unwavering dedication, flawless safety record, and exceptional communication have regularly earned them top honors, including Team of the Month awards. When they are not behind the wheel, Jimmie and Ann enjoy a vibrant home life on their twenty-five-acre wooded farm. They relax in their custom cedar cabin and pursue unique personal passions like woodworking, martial arts, and writing epic fantasy novels.
Smiling wide, Julian is celebrating a massive milestone that represents his determination. He did not just cross a finish line, he successfully completed his second full lease with Stevens Transport, solidifying his status as an elite independent contractor who calls his own shots. To mark this beautiful achievement, he is walking away with a well-earned lease completion bonus check for $7,247.36. This moment is about so much more than a number, it is about the dignity of building a legacy and knowing that you achieved it through your own execution and focus. SAFETY TIP WATCH FOR SIGNS OF FATIGUE Recognizing the warning signs of fatigue is critical for professional drivers operating large commercial vehicles.
Physical and Mental Indicators • Frequent yawning or excessive blinking • Heavy, sore, or burning eyes that are hard to keep open • Daydreaming, wandering thoughts, or zoning out • Memory lapses, such as not remembering the last few miles driven
Driving Performance Warnings • Drifting between lanes or hitting the roadside rumble strips • Vehicle speed creeping up or down unintentionally • Sudden or erratic braking and erratic steering corrections • Increased irritability or impatience with surrounding traffic
Safety and Prevention Drivers experiencing these symptoms should utilize safe pull-over areas to rest. The only way to address fatigue is by sleeping. • Get a good night’s sleep before heading off on a long trip • Take regular breaks – at least every two hours • Don’t drink alcohol before your trip. Alcohol is strictly forbidden by Stevens Transport unless you are off duty, at home, or on time-off. • Don’t travel at times when you’d usually be sleeping

Michael brings over 30 years of financial leadership experience from executive roles at CFI Transportation, Walmart, JCPenney, and Artur Express. Throughout his career, he has optimized profitability, modernized financial systems, strengthened cash flow, and leveraged emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. At Stevens Transport, Michael will lead strategic initiatives, enhance business intelligence, and develop the next generation of finance leaders. EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY For many years, cargo theft was viewed as an unfortunate—but manageable—cost of doing business. That is no longer the reality.
Criminals have modernized just as quickly. The same technology that improves operational efficiency can also be exploited when proper safeguards are absent.
Today, cargo theft has evolved into a sophisticated, organized criminal enterprise. Virtually every commodity moving across our nation's highways has become a potential target. As leaders in transportation, we cannot afford to view this as someone else's problem.
Cybersecurity is no longer simply an IT issue. Identity verification is no longer simply an administrative process. Load security is no longer just the driver's responsibility. These are executive-level business risks requiring executive-level attention.
A Growing Criminal Enterprise Criminal organizations now employ technology, social engineering, identity theft, fraudulent carrier schemes, fictitious pickups, cybercrime, GPS tracking, and sophisticated logistics planning.
Security Must Become Part of Our Culture Preventing cargo theft requires building a culture where security is integrated into every decision. That means investing in employee training. Thoroughly verifying carrier credentials. Implementing stronger authentication procedures. Using layered tracking technologies. Improving communication between dispatchers, drivers, customers, and law enforcement. Reviewing vulnerabilities before criminals discover them.
Thieves impersonate legitimate carriers, create fake dispatch documents, exploit weaknesses in freight brokerage systems, or manipulate digital records to steal entire loads. The Real Cost Is Much Greater Than the Cargo When a shipment disappears, the financial loss extends far beyond the value of the freight. Manufacturers lose production time. Retailers experience inventory shortages. Hospitals and healthcare providers may face delayed medical supplies. Construction projects slow because critical materials never arrive. Consumers encounter empty shelves, delayed deliveries, and higher prices. Insurance premiums continue to rise. Security investments increase. Administrative costs multiply. The ripple effect moves through the entire economy. Technology Has Become Both Our Greatest Asset and Our Greatest Vulnerability The logistics industry has embraced remarkable technology over the past decade, making transportation faster and more efficient than ever before.
