The Challenge
There is no Export Health Certificate for the export of fresh sausage to Europe.
The Solution
Westaways Thaw & Sell Range. Our thaw and sell products are designed for EU export with retail customers in mind, who wish to sell chilled sausages.
Thaw and Sell Concept
• The Thaw and sell concept is very simple. Westaways manufacture sausages in retail packaging and box with 25 packs per box.
• The outer case label contains Batch Code, Freeze Date and a Frozen Best Before date, which conforms to EU & UK Law.
• The inner packs, only have the batch code printed on the packaging.
• On receipt, the retailer thaws the packs (instructions are given).
• Once the goods are thawed, the retailer labels the product with the fresh Use By Date. (defrost date + 7 Days.
• A “This product is not suitable for home freezing and has been previously frozen. Do not refreeze.” label is on the back of the packs.
• Once the export health certificate is completed by Foodlynx, with this in mind, Veterinary control and Customs regard the product as being exported, frozen, by the box, rather than by each pack.
• This is system is approved by The UK OVS, The EU Vet and EU Sanitary Control.
