Introduction
B Corp Impact Report 2024 - 2025
Leadership letter As we reflect on another remarkable year at St Eval, it’s impossible not to feel immense gratitude for the journey we’re on together. This year marked our 30th anniversary, a milestone that invites us to look back with pride and forward with determination. From our humble beginnings in the Cornish countryside to becoming a certified B Corp company and a Cornish brand with national presence, we remain guided by the same simple belief: business can and should be a force for good. This year, we deepened our connection to nature and community in meaningful ways. We stepped into our role as custodians of Castle an Dinas, proudly supporting the Cornwall Heritage Trust in preserving local history. We also continued our partnership with the Bee4 Project, installing a rocket beehive on-site and welcoming a thriving colony of native Cornish black bees – a living symbol of the biodiversity we’re committed to protecting. The power of community has been a driving force for us. We proudly donated over £58,000 to more than 100 charities, and strengthened partnerships with local schools, career programmes, and charitable organisations across Cornwall. These contributions, big and small, represent our ongoing promise to give back to the places and people who have shaped who we are. 4
Environmentally, we took bold steps towards self-sufficiency and sustainability. From new energy strategies to enhancing biodiversity on our farm, every decision has been made with the future of our planet in mind. Our third year of funding the Helman Tor Beaver Project culminated in an incredible milestone, the first wild-born beavers in Cornwall for centuries. A legacy we’re proud to have nurtured. As we prepare for B Corp recertification in 2026, we know that being a responsible business is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing commitment. We’ll continue to push forward on sustainability, invest in renewable energy, increase training and volunteering hours, and foster a culture where every voice is heard and valued. The journey ahead is one of collective action. It is built on the belief that when people, planet, and purpose come together, businesses can create a lasting, positive difference.
Ian Greaves, Chief Executive Officer

Our process Doing It Sustainably
A Design That Reflects Nature
We made a clear decision: no waste. Instead of discarding old packaging, we sold through every last piece before transitioning to the new design. We didn’t offer replacements – because sustainability mattered more than speed. Any surplus stock was given a second life through our seconds candle initiative, donated to local charities to support our community and reduce waste.
Inspired by your suggestions, we redesigned our packaging to better tell the story of each fragrance. Thoughtful illustrations now reflect the essence of the natural world that inspires our scents, helping communicate how we bring the wild in, one candle at a time.
A Team Effort All of this came together during our busiest season, which was a real behind-the-scenes effort from our dedicated team. Their creativity, commitment, and resilience helped make it happen, and we couldn’t be prouder. We hope you love our new look as much as we loved creating it. 18

Sparked by feedback from a CRM appraisal, the course helps team members understand how their role fits into the wider production cycle, from order placement to packing. So far, seven employees have taken part, with four completing the full journey, gaining new insight, building relationships across teams, and deepening their appreciation for the care behind every product we make.

Seconds Charity
Local School Visits
This year, we continued our Seconds Charity initiative — donating imperfect but perfectly usable products to local charities. It’s a simple way to reduce waste while supporting the vital work of organisations making a real difference in our community. It reflects our values: resourcefulness, generosity, and respect for both people and planet.
We opened our factory doors to local schools, giving students a behind-thescenes look at our operations and the diverse careers available in manufacturing. By inspiring the next generation and showcasing opportunities close to home, we’re proud to play a part in shaping future career paths here in Cornwall.

Case Studies B Corps at the Beach In March, we were proud to take part in B Corps at the Beach – a gathering of purpose-led brands, changemakers, and values-driven businesses, all coming together to spark meaningful conversations and lasting collaboration. Set against the stunning backdrop of Harlyn Bay and hosted at the beautiful PIG Hotel, the two-day event offered a moment of reflection, inspiration, and connection during B Corp Month. The first day featured thought-provoking talks, purposeful networking, and a sustainable supper club showcasing The PIG’s renowned 25-Mile Menu, celebrating seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The conversations covered everything from localising sustainability to innovation in ethical products.

On the second day, we had the pleasure of welcoming guests to St. Eval for an immersive candle-making masterclass, led by Ian and our Production Manager, Eamonn. It was a chance to share our craft, our story, and what purpose looks like in action. We’re grateful to the Good Company team, our fellow B Corps, and all who joined us in making this gathering such a memorable part of our B Corp journey.

Environment Nature has always been our guide – the wild Atlantic winds, the scent of gorse on the clifftops, the stillness of the Cornish countryside at dusk. It’s this deep connection to the land that inspires so much of what we do. At St Eval, caring for the Earth is at the very core of how we craft, create, and grow. From harnessing renewable energy to reducing waste and protecting biodiversity, we tread as lightly as we can. We believe that true sustainability means working in harmony with nature, not just for today, but for generations to come.

Case Studies Tracking Energy Use with Our Dashboard
Sustainable Energy: Progress Towards Self-Sufficiency
Our energy dashboard gives us real-time visibility over all renewable energy generation and monitors site-wide energy usage. It helps us optimise how and when we use power - including strategically charging EVs during peak solar hours — ensuring we maximise our renewable output and understand demand across the business.
We’ve set an ambitious goal to reach 50% energy self-sufficiency, and we’re currently at 37%. As our business grows, so does our energy use, particularly with increased production demands and the use of electric equipment like wax melters.
48
By tracking our progress and understanding where and when energy is consumed, we’re working strategically to close the gap.

St Eval has shown real vision in backing this project from the beginning. They saw the bigger picture, the potential for beavers to help restore balance to our landscapes and bring wildlife back. Their support has been instrumental in taking these first bold steps towards a wilder Cornwall. — Katie, Sales Account Executive
Restoring Wild Cornwall: The Return of Beavers to Helman Tor Two and a half years ago, St Eval and Cornwall Wildlife Trust came together with an ambitious shared vision: to reintroduce wild beavers to Helman Tor, the Trust’s largest nature reserve near Bodmin. This reintroduction formed a key part of a wider rewilding project that also welcomed longhorn cattle, grazing ponies and Tamworth pigs to the site – all working together to revive natural processes and restore biodiversity. Beavers are often described as ‘eco-engineers’. Their dam-building and digging create complex wetland habitats that support an astonishing range of wildlife – from dragonflies and amphibians to birds and bats. Inspired by the success of the enclosed beaver release at Woodland Valley Farm, the aim at Helman Tor was to allow beavers to reshape the land freely, reviving the ancient rhythms of nature without the need for constant human management. 52
Thanks to St Eval’s support, the Trust was able to employ Lauren Jasper, Cornwall’s first-ever Beaver Officer, to lead this pioneering work. Lauren’s role involved assessing the landscape, setting biodiversity benchmarks, and – crucially – working with the local community, farmers and landowners to prepare for the arrival of wild beavers. In February 2024, the project took an unexpected turn when a pair of beavers was illegally released onto the reserve by an unknown 3rd party – a practice known as ‘beaver bombing’. While unplanned and not condoned, this marked the historic return of wild beavers to Cornwall for the first time in roughly 400 years. The animals quickly began reshaping the site, creating wetland areas that are already showing signs of increased biodiversity. Since that moment, Lauren has continued her vital work on the ground and behind the scenes – navigating evolving legislation after wild beaver releases were officially permitted in England from
February 2025. An Expression of Interest application was submitted to Natural England and the Trust was invited to submit a full wild release licence application. The full application was submitted soon afterwards thanks to the head-start that St Eval funding had provided. The outcome of the application is expected by mid-October and if successful we could see multiple pairs released by the end of the year. In July 2025, the most exciting news of all: the pair of beavers at Helman Tor were found to have had kits, potentially the first wild-born beavers in Cornwall in centuries. Thanks to this partnership, a vision that began with hope and ambition is now shaping a wilder, wetter, more biodiverse Cornwall, one dam, one wetland, and now, one beaver family at a time.
