Message from the Head of School Dear Gaynor Community, As I reflect on another remarkable year at Stephen Gaynor School, I am filled with deep gratitude for the generosity and dedication that define our close-knit community. Whether through a gift to the Annual Fund, the Endowment, or our newly established Innovation Fund, your support does far more than sustain our programs—it reaches directly into the classroom, shaping the daily experience of every student who walks through our doors.
I am particularly proud to share that in 2025–2026, we established the Yvette Siegel-Herzog Innovation Fund to extend our expertise and impact beyond Gaynor. Honoring the visionary spirit and memory of our cofounder, this fund equips educators with vital tools and strategies to support students with language-based learning differences while developing strategic programs and partnerships that strengthen teaching and learning beyond our walls.
Gaynor’s Annual Fund campaign remains a vital cornerstone of our financial model. Whether your gift supports a new reading intervention, a crucial scholarship, the arts, or ongoing professional development for our faculty, it directly fuels our commitment to individualized, evidence-based instruction. Each contribution becomes an integral part of a student’s story—often in ways you may never explicitly see, but that makes everything we value at Gaynor not just possible, but exceptional.

Message from the Board Chair I am excited to be writing to the community as Chair of the Board of Trustees. Before I look ahead, I want to look back and say thank you. Megan Hogan’s leadership as Board Chair has been a gift to this community, and to me personally. Her warmth, her clarity of purpose, and her deep belief in every Gaynor student were on full display this June, as she welcomed the Class of 2026 with the same care and conviction she brought to this role every single day. Just as important, she led the board by creating structure, organization, and holding everyone accountable. Megan, thank you for the example you set and the foundation you’ve helped build. You have been an inspiration to me, and we are all so grateful for everything you’ve given to this school. As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, I am filled with excitement for what lies ahead. Gaynor’s mission has never felt more urgent or more possible to grow, and I believe we are just getting started when it comes to the number of students and families we can reach and change for the better. This is a pivotal moment of growth for our school, and I could not be more energized about where we are headed together. None of that excitement would mean anything without the strong foundation this community built this past year. This past June, we celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2026 — fifty-two students who, alongside
their academic growth, took part in more than 100 community service events and activities over their years at Gaynor. Watching them walk across the stage, surrounded by family, faculty, and friends, was a powerful reminder of why we do this work. As Dr. Gaynor reminded us that day, the tools our students gain in the classroom are matched only by the friendships and sense of belonging they build along the way. And as alumna Sarah Braverman ‘09 told the graduates, “the world needs you,” a sentiment that captures exactly what this community is built to do: help children see their learning differences not as limitations, but as strengths. Our Parents’ Association is at the heart of that community spirit. This year’s Book Fair, Breakfast My Way gatherings, and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week brought families together in ways that go far beyond the events themselves — they’re where our community connects, and our students feel that every day. That spirit carried into one of the most successful Galas in our school’s history. Under the leadership of our Gala Co-Chairs and the tireless efforts of the Gala Committee, the evening became a true celebration of Gaynor’s mission and community. Our Annual Fund and Gaynor Giving Day results reflected that same generosity, and I want to thank everyone who supported this year. Annual Fund Co-Chairs Ilana Sultan and John McGeehan led the way
to surpassing this year’s annual fund goal, and Katy Williamson, our Advancement Trustee Chair, brought her year-round dedication to coordinating Gaynor’s philanthropic efforts. Together with the ongoing commitment of our Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, this generosity is what allows Gaynor to keep offering the individualized, evidence-based education that has defined this school since 1962. We carry that same commitment forward: to help every student at Stephen Gaynor School discover their strengths and reach their fullest potential, in the classroom and beyond. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, thank you to everyone who made last year such a success. To our faculty and staff who show up for our children every day, and to every parent, grandparent, alum, and friend, whose generosity and time make Gaynor the vibrant place it is. Yvette Siegel-Herzog Innovation Fund EXPANDING ACCESS, DEEPENING IMPACT In 2025–2026, Gaynor established the Yvette Siegel-Herzog Innovation Fund to extend our expertise and impact beyond the nearly 400 students who learn in our classrooms each year. The Fund equips educators with tools and strategies to support students with language-based learning differences, enabling Gaynor’s Office of Outreach and Innovation to develop programs and partnerships that strengthen teaching and learning beyond Gaynor, helping more students thrive.
