Thank you for taking the time to view the Family Event sale. We understand just how busy this time of year is. Between the weather, cattle, crops, sports, and state fairs, I think we all are going a little bit crazy! One thing that remains true, however, is I don’t think any of us would trade this life. This part of the year is so rewarding. It really makes you reflect back the countless hours, many decisions, and varying emotions. My favorite part of the year is thumbing through the catalog, not to look at the cattle, but to go down memory lane looking at the pedigrees, the candids of the great kids we work with, and remembering those feelings looking at the backdrops. It’s truly been a special year. Sammi and I continue to learn as we go as we are now the parents of a one year old. Everyday Nova grows right before our eyes, and getting to watch her adapt into the lifestyle that we love is something that’s hard to put into words. She loves to wave at the sale heifers when we walk through them as a family, and as many of you know, it’s pretty cool to witness. Our clan continues to grow, as we have some wedding planning to do as we prep for the spring. Jaxon and Magen will get married in May of ‘27, and we couldn’t be happier for them. Magen is one of the sweetest, most talented human beings ever, and we are so excited for her to officially join the family. We truly have the greatest crew in the world. Tray Zabokrtsky, Hayden Fox, and Wyatt Lange are three highly driven, passionate individuals, who dedicate hours in these cattle. We can’t emphasize enough how important it is to have a team to back you, and these three will always be the three I want in my corner. Thank you boys for all you do for this operation. In the current industry today, it’s imperative to invest in a project that is backed by potent genetics and surrounded by a team. The highs and lows of showing cattle can be tough to navigate without that. We call this sale the Family Event. The Dream Lady cow family is deeply rooted here in South Dakota, as those cows were a huge staple for Cory and Melissa for many many years. SS Dream Lady 161, affectionately known as Ivy, is a very special female for us. She was campaigned by Sammi during the 2012-13 show season, where she topped off her career being named Reserve Supreme Female at the National Western. From then she went to work for Sullivan Farms in Dunlap, IA. She worked alongside breed legends and held her own in terms of impactful progeny. She’s the dam of SULL Dream On 5158, the mother of SULL Dream Maker, as well as many champion purebred and plus females for Schaeffer, Tice, and Sullivan. She is also the Dam of Dream Only 7188E, who went on to raise the $220,000 valued Red Banana, the dam of CF In Demand. A few years ago, the opportunity arose to bring Ivy home to finish out her career. She spent her last few years at home in Marion. Although she was in the twilight of her life, she was able to give us some high quality embryos, and we ended up with “Poison Ivy”. When putting together the catalog, she was the obvious Lot 1. This female is nothing short of special, and we feel one that will not only compete, but will produce. The eldest daughter of what is several daughters of SS Max Rosa 029. She’s the longer fronted, longer bodied of the flush sisters, with some extra bone and substance. This female is starting to hair back up and is one to pay attention to. SS Max Rosa 029 is one of my favorite show heifers of all time. She was shown by my good friend Kane Aegerter and had an awesome show career, including being named Reserve National Champion at the Junior National in 2021. The dam of 029, 1110 was also named Reserve National Champion at the 2012 Junior National for Sammi. If you have followed our program you will have noticed several of her progeny that have sold and gone on to do great things inside and out of the show ring.

This one always stuck out in the Kansas division and every time I visited I would call Sammi and rave about her. Big time red female here. A heifer that is so three dimensional, sound and attractive. I feel like this one has all the intangibles to make a big time show heifer. Another standout from the summer, she and her sister Lot 7 lived in the same pasture group and were always ones that you would circle back to. This heifer has been a little slower to hair back up, but once some cold fronts blow through, she will correct that department. The Renegade cattle have exceeded expectations and it’s females like Lot 8 that get us excited for what that bull can do in the future.

Some are special. As we kickoff the Maine-Anjou division, we couldn’t be more excited to debut this group to you. These girls kept the anticipation at an all time high. And what a way to start. This Keno female is an absolute outlier. She blends a set of big loud pieces together in such a smooth feminine package. Monster feet and legs, robust in her cage, level in her hip, and tons of presence. She is superb in several areas. A female that is always posing in the sale runs. She’s a high performing female that doesn’t sacrifice body shape and maternal excellence. Her dam, NAGE Raquel, was one of Sammi’s all time favorite heifers to exhibit. What made Raquel much more special was at NAILE, when Sammi was dressing her hind leg while I was fitting her belly. Sammi asked how it looked, and I told her to stand up so I could show her something. She was annoyed at me because she thought I was going to redo something but luckily she got up, and I was able to ask her to be my wife. It was a special day as we showed Raquel on the green chips and made plans for the future. Fast forward, we have another wedding coming this spring with Jaxon and Magen. We couldn’t be more excited for them, and can’t wait to have Magen join this crazy family. About a month ago, they asked our daughter Nova to be the flower girl. Raquel and her progeny seem to be hanging around during these moments, so it just made sense. Terms of the sale are cash or check made payable to Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle to the clerk immediately following the sales and before the cattle are removed from Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle. Purchasers or their representatives must sign the bill of sale prior to leaving the sale.
BILLED ACCOUNTS
All billed accounts are due and expected within 10 days of the sale date. At 10 days, a two percent service charge will be added to the unpaid balance and an additional two percent will be added every 30 days.
LIABILITY
Each animal will be at the buyers risk as soon as sold, but will be cared for by the seller’s for a reasonable amount of time. Neither the owners, employees, auctioneer, sale managers or the affiliated personnel can be responsible for any accidents, but they will make every effort to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending.
BREEDING GUARANTEE
All animals sell guaranteed to produce transferable embryos. Exception: Disease or injury occurring after purchase. In the event that an animal will not produce transferable embryos with the efforts of the buyer and seller, a sale credit in the amount of the purchase price, will be issued to the buyer that can be used at anytime on any animal, flush semen or embryos sold by Schrag Nikkel.

Here’s a really neat Maine-Angus female that continues to get better with age. She’s out of our herd bull SHOC Vindication, who we purchased from Garett and Mallory Liss. Her dam, 022, otherwise known as Maggie was one of the first show heifers I ever sold. I purchased her from one of my great friends, Mitchell Smith, and resold her to the Denton family. We had a blast that year, as Maggie jackpotted throughout the Kansas circuit with much success, as well as snagging a piece of a division at the NJAS. Wes and Dustin have built a really awesome group of black cows to go along with the Herefords, and we look forward to seeing what those females can do. Lot 45, is a pretty good start boys!

Tray and Wyatt have been integral parts of our operation. Tray has worked up here for several years now as one of our herdsmen, and Wyatt runs the cows at our Kansas Ranch. I got to know those two really well when they approached me about helping them find a Purebred Simmental show heifer for Wyatt. We came across Lot 51 and 52’s dam at Rosebud Cattle and were fortunate enough to purchase her from our good friend Zane. She has been a great generator for the boys. This perfect baldy female is as striking as they come. Although she’s really young, we couldn’t deny the quality and future this female had and had to have her for the sale. One we think will become an outstanding show prospect and cow.
